Last year, Kendall Jenner “went away” for about a month. She stayed off social media and didn’t pap stroll at all. We realized later what had happened: girl got some “work” done to her face ahead of the big Victoria’s Secret show in Paris. Kendall pretty much debuted her new face at the VS show and I guess we were supposed to act like she didn’t look different at all. It was a big deal that Kendall got the VS gig, and VS hired a bunch of the nepotism models to walk in last year’s show. It felt like a real shift, like VS was just going full-throttle for Millennial consumers now and no one else. Well, Kendall just dealt a blow to VS: she’s the new brand ambassador for La Perla, which means she has no interest in Victoria’s Secret now:

Kendall Jenner will not be one of the angels walking the catwalk for the “2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” but it was her choice … made easier by a boatload of cash. Our Kardashian family sources tell us Kendall didn’t even audition for the gig because she has a major deal to be the face — and other body parts — of La Perla. We’re told her multi-million dollar deal with the upscale lingerie line includes a non-compete clause … so, walking for VS would’ve been a major no-no, anyway.

Fans were surprised when the list of models for this year’s VS show didn’t include Kendall — especially because she did it last year, and her pal, Gigi Hadid, is doing it. What can we say? The chick got a wayyy better deal.

This is as bizarre to me as Kendall getting that Adidas contract. Know your audience, people! Know your brand. La Perla is upscale, the caviar to VS’s corn nuts, if you will. Rich women spending lots of money on panties and such. How is Kendall the perfect person for the La Perla brand? That’s why I didn’t really care that Kendall and the Hadid sisters were doing the VS shows – that seemed on-brand for them as models and for VS as a company. But for La Perla to spend that kind of money on Kendall? Ugh.

Meanwhile, Star Magazine had this interesting story about Kendall:

Kendall Jenner is Young Hollywood’s odd woman out thanks to her bratty attitude and diva demands! The 21-year-old got herself booted from Cara Delevingne’s lavish 25th birthday bash in Mexico after turning the trip into a three-ring circus, Star has been told.

“Kendall refused to share a hotel room, demanded her own dietary program and a six-person security team, and told everyone they had to sign nondisclosure agreements!” fumed a friend involved in the party planning. The other attendees like Suki Waterhouse and Georgia May Jagger were aghast at Kendall’s mandates, but the final straw was KJ’s decree that no one could post photos unless she could monetize them for a quick payday.

“When Kendall said that, the girls just lost it,” sniped the source. “They never wanted her to come in the first place – they think she’s trashy and dumb and a total downer – but when she started throwing her weight around, that was it.”

Faced with an ultimatum from her famous friends, Cara cut Kendall loose. “It was so embarrassing for Kendall. Cara tried to be diplomatic and said Mexico might not be safe enough for her but Kendall saw through her. She says she doesn’t care and doesn’t like those girls anyway, but the fact is, no one wants to be uninvited from something. It’s Kendall’s own fault though – she doesn’t have many friends and stuff like this is the reason why.”

Kendall and Cara’s friendship always seemed a bit strange to me, just because they don’t really have much in common beyond “nepotism” and “modeling.” Anyway, it would not surprise me at all if Kendall acted like a total pill and Cara was like “actually can you not come to the party?” Ouch.
