Taylor Swift’s street style look involved denim shorts & a denim Madewell top

Taylor Swift steps out of her apartment showing off her legs in a pair of short shorts

As we discussed yesterday, Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour is back in America and she’s been using her New York apartment as a homebase while she’s doing concerts in Ohio, New Jersey, etc. All of that means that we’re back to getting daily pap strolls after two years of snake silence and mist. Seriously, for a solid year – or longer – we were having to make do with rare, blurry Sasquatch-like sightings of Tay. But now she’s back. In short-shorts.

Wednesday’s look consisted of denim-on-denim: the shorts are Ksubi, the top is Madewell, the sneakers are Golden Goose Deluxe Brand and the sunglasses are Jimmy Choo. Altogether, I think she looks rather cute, even if I’m not a big fan of some of these pieces on their own. Like, the shorts are horrendous. The top is admittedly cute, as are the glasses. It’s also worth noting that Taylor is no longer thicc – she seemed to have gained some weight in fall 2017, but it came off pretty quickly. I liked her thicc, and she looks fine here too.

What else? When Tay performed in Cleveland on Tuesday, it was the 2-year anniversary of The Day of the Receipts. Which is why Tay noted the occasion in the middle of the concert, telling the crowd, “Happy National Snake Day, my favorite day of the year,” during a performance of “Look What You Made Me Do.” Girl… it’s a bad look when Kim Kardashian looks like the mature one. Last thing: there are lots of tweet-rumors about Taylor possibly collaborating with Lady Gaga. Gaga and Taylor were both in New York yesterday, and Tay stopped by the same studio where Gaga has been recording. Hm.

    Please.

  2. Lolo86lf says:

The top is cute but the shorts need alteration. She obviously lost weight and it suits her, actually Tay Tay look cute both above and at her ideal weight. I may sound a bit biased but she is a pretty young woman.

    • Nancy says:

The top isn’t bad, with jeans maybe or better looking shorts. I didn’t notice a weight loss. If anything, she looks a bit heavier on the bottom (don’t all women as they get older), but her weight is fine. She tries too hard.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

She is but she has sh!t taste in clothes and hair styles – the way she is styled does nothing for her.

    • Queen Frostine's Original Face says:

I’m her age and also blonde, but much shorter and not as naturally thin. It’s not fair. 🙁

      • Nancy says:

I’m ten years older, also blonde, same height but pregnant! I’m sure you’re prettier on the inside than she is. What did Katy say ……beware of the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Nothing is ever as it appears. I bet you’re a doll!

    • INeedANap says:

Ever since this site (was it @Kaiser ?) pointed out she’d look great as a redhead I find myself disappointed at all her pap strolls where she’s still a blonde. And yes, I realize this is irrational.

      • Queen Frostine's Original Face says:

See, as a blonde woman, that makes me crazy. I’ve NEVER dyed my hair another color, nor could I. I wouldn’t feel like me. But I worry that people would like me more with another hair color, and would think I’m smarter because of dumb blonde jokes. Ugh.

        …Now I’M the irrational one. -_-

      • INeedANap says:

Oh no! I didn’t mean it in a personal way at all. And even if the world would prefer you with another hair color you should have whatever hair color you want because your body belongs to you alone.

Also I love that you are repping for Queen Frostine. It drove me batsh!t when they downgraded her to princess in the update.

    • Josie says:

Shame she’s such a huge narcissist

  3. HelloSunshine says:

I’m having trouble imagining what a TS/Lady Gaga collab would sound like honestly. Is it just me? Lol

    • Ms. Turtle says:

Their best collaboration would be Gaga singing a Swift-written song. Using both of their strengths.

    • Ann says:

I was thinking about that yesterday. Her reddit fans are really excited about it but all I could think is how??? Gaga is actually talented and can actually sing. How could their skill levels mesh? I actually really want to know now…

    • Louise177 says:

It will probably be bad. Based on her duet with Zane, Taylor will get blown away. She doesn’t have a strong voice and it will be even more obvious when singing with Gaga.

  4. BaBaDook says:

Have you seen her “snakeday” streetstyle? Buzzfeed have an “in dept” analysis. Lol.

  5. Nancy says:

She matched her shoe laces to her top. Oh my. Before I had a chance to think I bet she’s wearing blue nail polish, I looked and there it was. Sigh

  6. Kitten says:

GOD I hate fashion right now. Makes me happy I’m old -_-

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

      ME TOO!

    • Millenial says:

I’m glad I’ve been mostly pregnant or post-partum the last few years. I’ve largely gotten to bypass this awful mid-riff/mom jean/sloppy-grungy phase. I’m hoping it’s over by the time I’m ready to pay attention to fashion again.

      • Nancy says:

Somebody I can relate to! There are such cute maternity tops now compared to what I wore eleven years ago with my son. I find so many cute things at thrift stores, now that I have time to go on shopping adventures.

      • Millenial says:

Yes, maternity fashion is definitely improving. Some of it is still downright horrible, but at least you can find trendy pants/jeans and decent tops that aren’t all pastel colored and/or floral messes.

      • Betsy says:

By the time it is, you won’t be the age to have to follow it blindly. Honest to god, what is even the point of aging if we have to keep pretending to be young.

      • Abby says:

        same

    • Natalie S says:

      I see these clothes and I think Caldor’s 1993.

    • jammypants says:

Its glaringly ugly. High waisted shorts/pants, chokers, crop tops, hooped earrings, white sneakers, mini backpacks. Make it stop! 🙈

      • Nancy says:

I hope you noticed the blue shoelaces. She still won’t show her belly button. @HelloSunshine….I’m not trying to advocate showing one’s belly button. My comment was directed to her specifically as she had or has some sort of rule of not showing hers! She needs elastic waisted granny jeans to pull her drawers up to her boobs!! Bless her heart

      • magnoliarose says:

These looks just remind me of being a tween in the 90s and watching people on the subway. It wasn’t fashionable then and it isn’t now. It was just people living life and going about their day and keeping cool in the sweltering heat. It was never a street look but more like going to the mall picking up something easy to wear. There is nothing wrong with that but did we really need a redux?

      • Kitten says:

WHO the eff does it look good on? WHO?!?!?
I have not see one person who can pull this sh*t off.

      • magnoliarose says:

        Haha Kitten
No one. I have never seen anyone look great. Size, age, season…nothing matters. It is bad. Period.

    • HelloSunshine says:

I’m mid to late 20’s and can’t stand fashion now. My friend and I were just talking about this and ranted about how we’re sick of seeing people’s belly buttons and dudes in tank tops all the time. Never thought those things would ever bug me because I usually give two shits about what people wear but seriously. No more belly buttons. No more bro tanks. PLEASE.

      • HelloSunshine says:

@Nancy my comment wasn’t directed at you! I’m sorry it came off that way! Just general commentary about today’s fashion and me never thinking I’d ever be in a situation where I’d get sick of belly buttons 😂

      • Nancy says:

@HelloSunshine: Didn’t even occur to me that it was directed to me! Unless someone says Listen Bitch, I assume they’re talking to someone else….haha. It’s usually the cool chicks with their low riders who like to show off their pierced bb’s. Most of them should be covered…lol!!

    • Spicecake38 says:

Sitting here laughing at kitten I TOTALLY AGREE!Such a great time to say IDGAF because fashion is pretty sucky these days (years)Still have decent abs at 42 but super happy to not bare all in midriff shirts like I did in the 90’s!My favorite fashion at this time of my life are the very basic classics-white oxford, strait leg quality denim, loafers, black t shirts Sometimes aging is is the best!

      • Nancy says:

Spicecake my darlin: Wear what you please. These stupid fads come and go, but classics are forever. I also prefer straight leg jeans as well. My staple was/is boots, (not a sneaker fan) like little booties, granny, Frye, whatever. Can’t wait for Fall. Of course, by then I will be wearing slippers so I don’t flop over…..jk!

      • Kitten says:

Haha yeah I was all about the midriff back in the day. But it was with low-rise Frankie B’s not this mom jeans sh*t.
(no offense to our fashionable moms here at C/B)

    • magnoliarose says:

Sing it, because I with you on this. My sister called me the other day huffing about not being to find a freaking classic quality white blouse. She needed one because she was traveling for business and hers was ruined. You would think in a major city one could be found but Nope.

      • Dara says:

I’m despondent over the sorry state of retail fashion these days. I need to upgrade by work wardrobe in the worst way, but can’t find anything of decent quality that I would actually wear. I can’t remember the last time I bought something that wasn’t jeans or a t-shirt (and even those were out of necessity, not affection).

      • Kitten says:

        It’s all trash, ladies.

I’m wearing stuff from 8 years ago as a form of protest.

      • magnoliarose says:

Kitten you are killing me. Ha!

        @Dara
The quality is a crime these days. Even for children’s clothes so you know if they can’t be pushed for a couple of scraps of quality fabric for little bodies then they won’t do it for adults.

    • M.A.F. says:

It makes me realize I should have kept my clothes from junior high then turn around sell them so the kids can have “vintage”. I could have made a pretty penny.

      • Spicecake38 says:

Should have kept my Z Cavaricci(?sp)jeans and all of my favorites from Limited and County Seat(does anyone remember County Seat?)Ha!What do you know crappy fashion makes a comeback as always now I’m just old enough to remember today’s vintage finds.

  7. Nene says:

Taylor Swift is showing off her recent weight loss after the weight gain of the past one year or thereabout.
The top isn’t flattering at all, it flattened her boobs. The top is obviously for small-chested women.

  8. Ellie says:

I second Kitten — I just hate most of what is in fashion right now. I go out to a bar and the kids are wearing ill fitting mom jorts and tucked in Minnie Mouse tees. 90s fug. I miss and liked Taylor’s old style. My kingdom for some Cole Haan oxfords with a coordinating skirt and top that weren’t trying to prove anything.

  9. bread says:

I wonder why she’s doing pap walks again after more than a year of hiding out. Is she still with her boyfriend?

    • BaBaDook says:

Rumour has it she’s not. She apparently used to wear a “J” necklace around her neck and she hasn’t been lately so people think they’re done. But they went on holidays two weeks ago, so who knows.

      • bread says:

It would make sense if they were over. A lot of the narrative around their relationship was based on how very, very *private* they were being and that does not gel with daily pap walks wearing carefully curated outfits.

      • Nancy says:

This is Taylor of the short lived relationships. They have shelf lives. It isn’t her, it’s them. Lol

      • Case says:

I don’t wish unhappiness on anyone (especially because while she bothers me I don’t think she’s a bad person whatsoever), but I would laugh a little if she split with the guy she decided to dedicate most of an album to. I have been thinking she jumped the gun by declaring her current love on a current album since her relationships generally don’t last. I think she was much too eager to tell the world how wonderfully she was doing despite the Kimye drama. This era feels the most manufactured of all to me, even though she’s trying to play it cool and “private.”

      • Betsy says:

She wore it in yesterday’s post.

  10. Red says:

She just can’t help herself, can she? Almost went a year private after her album release but you knew she was craving the attention. I can’t help but laugh. She’s definitely lost the weight she gained, but she oddly has hips now? I didn’t know you could gain them at age 28 but who knows. I see she’s slowly getting away from her Hot Topic edgy style.

    • Steph says:

She’s probably the same weight and doing weights, but showing more skin. Anyone can get an ass doing weights. I going to the gym and with certain clothes I look heavy even though I’m at the right weight.

    • magnoliarose says:

You can gain hips. For years I was built like a lanky 13 year old sporty boy with some nods to my gender but it wasn’t until I was around 24 or so I started getting some real hips and caboose. I was always envious of women who had some lovely curves because I had itty tiny ones that to me didn’t feel feminine all the time. My body just matured and after having children even more so.

As far as looks I think she looks better as she ages.

      • Nancy says:

Jlo and Kim K make big booties a thing. At one point in time, it was boys don’t make passes at girls with big asses….lol. I’m small boned like you and have a little bum. I never ever would envy the K sisters or those who want to look like them. But, we are all individuals with our own body types. I guess you can also purchase an ass like the aforesaid sisters. Well that’s my take on the arse.

      • magnoliarose says:

Paid for arses make my eyes hurt. lol
Women with natural curves look a lot better and it fits them. Natural tushes are great but when someone pays it always looks odd and fake. Like they ripped off a couple of boiled hams and shoved them down their pants.

If you look over history the “ideal” shape changes. Like the S shape of the Edwardians or the boy bodies of the 20s. If we try to change to suit it we just drive ourselves crazy and give in to something that will change anyway. Everyone started getting their implants removed after the bolt on craze of the 90s and aughts. Remember when celebs were running out with so much filler in their lips they looked like someone had cold cocked them upside their heads? Silly.

      • Spicecake38 says:

When I was 20 I paid for lipo to have a small rear end ,and now they are paying to have a big one Oh well

      • Nancy says:

Mags: Remember? Kylie Jenner made a living off of those obtuse lips! @Spicecake: You are so damn funny! Luv ya!!

  11. Georgia says:

Hate those high waisted mom shorts too. On everyone. Wish they’d just go away.

  12. KidV says:

I like the outfit. It looks like a normal summer outfit, not like a famous person doing a pap walk outfit. I’d totally wear those shorts, they’re not too short so the bum hangs out, not too long as to look like a PE teacher. I’m not sure when regular length shorts became “short-shorts”. That was the normal length when I grew up.

That top would look cute with white skinny jeans.

  13. SequinedHeart says:

I just want to comment on how good she looks – her shape/weight these days looks healthy and beautiful. She’s not crazy pin thin anymore (she’s still long and slender). She’s grown into herself. But yeah, the outfit sucks.

  14. raincoaster says:

With that lipstick and foundation, it just comes off as try-hard when it should come off as casual, “Oh, I just threw this on”. It IS try-hard. She has great legs, but you can’t just do great legs, fully done face, and pretend it all works.

    • ZGB says:

Did she tell anyone she was pretending to have just thrown these on?
      1. She’s a celeb.
      2. We all know Taytay loves fashion. Of course she’s not gonna be clumsily made up.

Anyway, this is a cute summer outfit. Wouldn’t wear the shots but the top shows off her midriff nicely.

  15. Nina says:

I like that she’s not wearing teenie tiny sunglasses. And I actually love this pair… The ones from yesterday were really nice, too! I really don’t care for her outfits. I’m looking forward to the next pair of sunglasses. Does it show that I love sunglasses?

  16. Zooyork says:

I think it’s the best she ever looked.
