Elle editor slams Lindsay Lohan’s lack of professionalism

In June, Lindsay Lohan sat for a photo shoot with Elle Magazine UK in which jewelry went missing. The value of the missing jewels ranges from $40,000 to $400,000, depending on which reports you believe. Elle issued a statement at the time that said that the matter was being investigated, and that they had “no reason to believe that Lindsay Lohan was in any way responsible.” The incident is still under investigation, and People Magazine went on to claim that Lohan didn’t even wear the jewelry in the photoshoot, which of course doesn’t exonerate her. (Lohan has a well established habit of stealing. She once raided a friend’s closet of $10,000 worth of designer goods and stole a $11,000 fur coat from a cloak room.)

It seems the missing jewelry is just one issue among many at that photoshoot. Elle UK editor Lorraine Candy was so inconvenienced by Lohan’s lack of professionalism that she included the details in her editor’s note. Lindsay appears on the cover of the September issue, and it sounds like Elle would have preferred not to work with her after all the stunts she pulled. This is consistent with the video Elle released of Lindsay’s photoshoot, in which the time is listed as 1:30 am and Elle UK creative director Marissa Bourke says “I think we waited 12 hours, which for me is kind of a record.”

The magazine’s editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy is the newest name added to the never-ending list of people put off by the troubled starlet.

Candy revealed the 23-year-old actress had Elle magazine staffers running in circles around London trying to pin her down for the issue’s photo shoot and interview.
The story follows Lohan as she was pursued by photographers and recounts a tearful confrontation with off-again, on-again girlfriend Samantha Ronson.
“Lindsay Lohan wrote me a note during this month’s cover shoot,” Candy wrote in the new issue. “It read: ‘Let’s do it again some time.’ I’ve put it on my office wall because, in all honesty, I don’t know if I could.”

She adds, “This was the most unpredictable, and confusing shoot in my magazine career.

Candy’s harsh words are a sad reality for the actress, whose dwindling career is often overshadowed by her dramatic lifestyle.
“First, Lindsay was about to arrive. Then she was in Paris,” Candy wrote. “She was almost on set, then she disappeared into her hotel room. She was ready for her interview, then she had to have a fake tan! But we got there.”

[From NY Daily News]

This is just one example among the many incidents through which Lohan threw away a once-promising film career by acting like an entitled brat. It’s amazing that anyone is still willing to work with her at all. Lindsay has inexplicably landed a part in Robert Rodriguez’s film Machete, which also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, and Robert De Niro. She’s also still attached to a dance film called Dare to Love Me, and is set to film The Other Side with Giovanni Ribisi and Jason Lee, this fall. The film is written and directed by a Scientologist who is listed as a “clear,” David Michaels, and both Ribisi and Lee are Scientologists. Do you think the Scientologists will try to recruit Lohan? I can see her giving it a try and getting rejected for being too difficult and refusing to pay up.

😆 helloooo … Anyone could have informed Elle, since they’re apparently out of touch, that this would likely happen.

And “starlet” is not a description I would ever use – maybe “messlet” would work better.

  2. Bros says:

what did this editor expect? I cant believe she landed the cover of that magazine anyway, and cant imagine that anyone in elle’s UK readership gives a shit about seeing lohan on the cover and reading about her. I bet they got a lot of readers writing in about what the hell some washed up has-been american drug fiend unemployed stalker streaky-skinned methface was doing on the cover, as if anyone cares! this editor deserved what she got and should have known WAY better.

  3. rop says:

As I’m reading this heading, my wheels are turning and I’m wondering where the notion came from that she was professional to begin with.

  4. YoMomma says:

This is a great line: “Do you think the Scientologists will try to recruit Lohan? I can see her giving it a try and getting rejected for being too difficult and refusing to pay up.”

They’re big on no drugs and have their own treatment program. Do you think they will require her to go through it before filming? You know, maybe being a Scientologist wouldn’t hurt Lohan. The high profile ones in Hollywood seem very successful.

  5. Who Gives A Sh*t says:

    @Bros: I second that!!!

Moreover, why is the media still following this girl?!? If they stop, maybe she’ll get a clue and perhaps then someone can throw her into rehab for a couple of years.

  6. Green Is Good says:

Robert Rodriguez hired Blohan because he wants to get into her pants. And all it will take is $50 bucks worth of Blow and a bottle of Vodka.

  7. gg says:

Oh, yikes – who would want to get into those pants. Get a blowup doll, it’s much safer. Get involved with this and your front doorstep gets a wailing attendant for the edification of all your neighbors and tabloids. oy.

  8. Nev says:

You just wonder why is she still in Hollywood???
Why do any one put her on the cover of a magazine. Why do any one hire her for a movie?
Why do any one put their clothinging brand on her back? Why do any one pay her to show at their club???
We know with every pay check she will spend it on drugs. If she don’t change she is going to crash her car may be taking someone out with her but Hollywood keep feeding into her sickness.
May be when she shelf destruct she will take Paris Hilton with her.

  9. nancypants says:

    Does anyone read Elle anymore?

  10. boomchakaboom says:

Maybe Elle tried to cut costs by getting Lohan for the cover. Could there be anybody cheaper? You get what you pay for, Elle.

  11. tooey says:

Green @ #6, I thought Robert Rodriquez was already in Rose McGowan’s pants, if so, I doubt he wants to slum it with Lohan. Now MICHELLE Rodriquez, that’s an interesting concept. Austin better batten down the hatches if those two are coming to town….

  12. Green Is Good says:

She’s the worst advertisement for that fake bake shit she’s pushing. Look at the main pic. The color is blotchy, orange and uneven.

  13. Fat Elvis says:

Green: Excellent point. Lindsay’s “tan” always looks hideous. I wouldn’t touch that crap with a 50 foot pole!

  14. the original kate says:

those high waisted shorts ali is wearing are revolting. i know it’s been said before but they both look about 40 years old.

  15. Firestarter says:

Helen Keller could have seen that coming. Wake up ELLE! What did the magazine’s editor expect? A mature, sober and professional woman, ready on time and doing what she is told?

  16. Melanie says:

She is really starting to look like her mother…and by that I mean in her 40s.

  17. Taradash says:

there are alot a starlet s that have the reputation of “stealing” shoot accessories, yet they never made the front pages. as it would be a “inside” secret. the past editors would never reveal intimate things to the press.

no matter how turned off I am about Britney I was proud to see her parents step up and help her. Lohan’s family has seemed to either give up or watch her hit bottom before they come in ..

too sad. it doesnt even seem like she is happy, which is the worst part.

  18. Ron says:

Give her a break. She was raised by two people who used her as a meal ticket and you wonder why she is f**ked up now? This girl needs a parent.

  19. boomchakaboom says:

Haven’t you guys heard? Lohan is from a dysfunctional family. Poor little thing. Poooor little child.

The rest of us are so lucky to have been raised by Ward and June Cleaver, or Andy and Aunt Bee, back in Mayberry.

  20. Jules says:

Her childhood at this point is not longer a valid excuse for the behavior now. She is old enough to make her own decisions. I just dispise her attitude that she thinks she is all that. She is pathetic.

  21. Praise St. Angie! says:

Ron, she already got a break…it was called “a starring role in The Parent Trap”…the girl has had EVERY opportunity to clean herself up. three times trying, at last count.

so, no, she doesn’t deserve sympathy or a break. until she takes responsibility for her actions and her addictions, goes to rehab, and STAYS clean, I have zero sympathy for her.

  22. Eileen Yover says:

My theory is the minute someone becomes famous they stop gaining any maturity. How can you mature into a responsible person when everyone caters to your every need? It’s going to take her falling off the grid and burning all her bridges to be on her own and hit the bottom.

  23. boomchakaboom says:

Eileen Yover: I don’t know. Shirley Temple Black transitioned nicely into a mature (even educated!)woman from a child star, back in “the day.”

    Damn Lohan’s “tan” looks horrible.

  24. Marianne says:

What else were they expecting? It seems like everyone but the Elle staff knows that Lindsay is a fucked up trainwreck.
Don’t get too excited for Machete. We all know how stupid and misogynistic Rodriguez’s movies are. Her job is probably to display her tits in a 2 minute scene.

  25. gg says:

Go for it, Ron – I dare ya …

  26. Firestarter says:

@Ron- I know plenty of people from dysfunctional families who were emotionally and physically abused and had it a hell of a lot harder than Lohan has ever had, and they do not act like her or use that as an excuse for every wrong that they have done.

People need to give that old song and dance a rest. She is a selfish, self entitled drug addict who cares for no one other than herself. She has made a fool of herself and ruined a once good career. I do not feel sorry for her nor the choices she has made. She needs to own what she does and decide that she wants to be better or a complete has been.

  27. KateKap says:

That girl needs a real BF like yesterday

  28. Marianne says:

Firestarter, my words completely. I don’t understand why some people still defend this worthless cokehead.

  29. Lem says:

hey looky she’s had a shower

yesterday I heard terrifying screaming coming from upstairs. a half dozen of us raced upstairs to find the kids watching Parent Trap. Frickin Lohan.

    I forget my point.
Oh yeah, wouldn’t it serve the editors better to put someone else on the cover. LL was 12 hours late. You can be damned sure I would have had them photographing someone else in the mean time. With an editor’s note about how LL was supposed to appear but couldn’t be bothered to show.
Although- what was that 6 months ago? At least. Still milking it for all it’s worth. So I’d say, even given the hassle the mag has more than made it’s money back in publicity. Whatch gonna do?

  30. Magsy says:

Her lack of professionalism is a given, but what about her lack of acting ability? Parent Trap was her last best movie….puhlease. She’s about as talented as Paris Hilton. At least Paris dresses better and if she’s doing drugs she hides it well.

  31. annie says:

lol @ haters. so pathetic. shes great and i love her.

  32. skeptical says:

written and directed by a scientologist huh?
Anyone else thinking it’ll end up same as Battlefield Earth?
