Meghan McCain seems to suggest that she voted for Donald Trump after all

Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel at arriv...

You guys probably remember that I hate Meghan McCain and I hate covering her! She’s so useless and awful. Her claim to “fame” is that she talks out of both sides of her mouth, that she’s a “conservative Republican” who hated Trump, yet defended Trump on nearly everything, and that she says “my father” whenever she’s challenged on her inane political philosophy. Considering that her father hated Donald Trump, Trump hated John McCain as well, and Trump repeatedly suggested that John McCain A) wasn’t really a war hero and B) is burning in hell, you would think that Meghan would want to get as far away from Trump-MAGA politics as possible. You would be wrong. Even post-insurrection, even after President Biden’s inauguration, Meghan is still making these dead-eyed, convoluted arguments about how Katie Couric is the spokesperson for the Democratic Party and President Biden needs to seek unity with MAGA losers by massaging their poor Nazi feelings. Meghan also comes very close to saying that she f–king voted for Trump? Again, Trump loathes her father and said John McCain is burning in hell.

The View’s Meghan McCain, who has made a huge show over the years of being an anti-Trump conservative, on Monday seemed to count herself among the “cult of Trump” while railing against comments Katie Couric made about the MAGA fans who continue to believe the “stolen election” lie. Earlier this month, following the insurrectionist Capitol riot incited by President Donald Trump, Couric sparked a multi-day outrage cycle in the right-wing media ecosystem when she suggested there must be an effort made to combat the death spiral of conspiracy theories among a certain portion of the population.

“It’s really bizarre, isn’t it, when you think about how AWOL so many of these members of Congress have gotten,” she said on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. “But I also think some of them are believing the garbage that they are being fed 24/7 on the internet, by their constituents, and they bought into this ‘Big Lie.’ And the question is how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump.”

Since then, Fox News and other conservative outlets have run wild with Couric’s “offensive” remarks, pointing to them as proof that liberals are not interested in unity and that her call to “deprogram Trump voters” (as Fox News narrowly described it) only “deepens the divisions” in the country. At the top of Monday’s broadcast of The View, McCain jumped on the outrage bandwagon, and in the process seemingly suggested she either voted for Trump or counts herself among the “cult of Trump” that Couric had specifically mentioned. It’s all very unclear.

After briefly discussing the current civil war in the GOP over impeachment and the Capitol riots, McCain quickly pivoted to President Joe Biden’s message of unity and her belief that Democrats aren’t interested in working with Republicans.

“Instead, we’re hearing a lot of language from people like Katie Couric that Republicans like me need to be, quote, ‘deprogrammed,’” she grumbled. “That we’re brainwashed, that there are people who are irredeemable people, and we don’t need to have anything to do with them.”

McCain went on to say it was “horribly dangerous” for the country and that it was on Biden and Democrats to pick up Republicans who feel “disenfranchised” before circling back to Couric’s comment, apparently believing the longtime TV host speaks for the entire Democratic Party (or that her remarks were somehow addressing all Republicans, even those like McCain who’d been ostensibly anti-Trump while remaining conservative in ideology).

“If President Biden and Democrats want to have a big party and include some of these people, great, and if we’re all just deplorable and need to be reprogrammed as Katie Couric said, then honestly they can go to hell because I don’t need to be deprogrammed!” McCain huffed in conclusion.

[From The Daily Beast]

Did Meghan vote for the man who mocked her father or nah? Does Meghan McCain think President Biden and Democrats need to reach out to seditious traitors who were sent by Trump to murder elected leaders? Does Meghan McCain even understand 50% of the right-wing word salad she spewed? Who knows.

The mental hoops from this moron – it’s even scarier when you see her two brain cells furiously rub together on live television.

  1. Mignionette says:

This is literally like Brexit but the other way round.

America is broken much like the UK.

And yes she said it, she is deplorable for voting for Trump after how he denigrated her father in death.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

The thing people don’t understand about bigots is that their hate of their target directly correlates to their sense of self and this far exceeds their love for even their own family members. She is deplorable in every way if indeed she voted for the orange one.

      • Emm says:

You just described my FIL perfectly. He would help a maga stranger off the street over his own son who isn’t, in a heartbeat.

      • Dean says:

This is very interesting Donald Trump is considered a so-called “bigot” but the Reverend Al Sharpton is not? Who has their own show on MSNBC Donald Trump or the Reverend Al Sharpton? & who said that while “we were building empires they were living in caves” Sharpton referred to white people as cavemen and he also referred to ancient Greeks as “homos” how come he’s not considered a bigot , or a hater or a black supremacist?

    • Dean says:

I am a conservative and I proudly voted for Trump. Are all black, latino, and gay supporters of Trump fascists Nazis too. AND the election WAS stolen. AND Trump never said anything to incite violence (as opposed to many leftists Democrats).

  2. Darla says:

Is she a moron or is she a vicious bitch? I think it’s the latter.

    • Tom says:

The Arizona Republican Party is very Trumpy right now. They just censured Megan’s mother who endorsed Biden.

It’s complicated for Megan. She has to play the staunch Republican role so we continue to hate watch. Otherwise, she’s got nothin’.

      • Darla says:

        I hate The View.

      • H says:

If the Republican party censured my mother (for voting her conscience), talked trash about my dead war hero father, I would no longer be a Republican. Meghan is sick and does need deprogramming.

      • pottymouth pup says:

@Tom she’s not playing it, she really is it. She seems to be of one mind with her husband and that’s supporting everything the GOP’s happily embraced in the name of their own power

      • tcbc says:

She doesn’t have to do anything, she’s rich. She can take time off to be with her baby and wait for Trumpiness to go out of style. She can be a “conscientious objector” to the GOP and she’d be booked on every talk show on earth. She could write a book about her father and it would be reviewed by every publication in the country.

    • Soupie says:

      @Darla
I think it’s both. Rich white clueless entitlement.

    • whatWHAT? says:

      why not both?

As for this: “McCain quickly pivoted to President Joe Biden’s message of unity and her belief that Democrats aren’t interested in working with Republicans.”

well, she’s right on that. until there is acknowledgement of what they did, true remorse for what they did, and most importantly, ACCOUNTABILITY…they can all FRO. there is no unity without that.

      • Becks1 says:

YUP. The Republicans are screeching about “unity” when what they really mean is “dont hold us accountable and lets pretend we never acted the way we did when Obama was president.”

as for Meghan – yeah, she needs to be deprogrammed, as she’s defending the party that censured her mother and the man who really spoke horribly about John Mccain, and I wasnt even a big McCain fan. But his remarks about him really were, shall I say, deplorable.

    • lucy2 says:

It’s totally both. She is incapable of having any original thoughts and simply parrots back talking points, but she’s also just mean and angry.

She’s also either purposefully twisting Couric’s words, or has very poor comprehension, because Couric clearly says the “cult of trump” needs to be deprogrammed, not “Republicans”. There are a lot of never trump Republicans, and Meghan used to even claim to be one.

      • whatWHAT? says:

        she’s telling on herself.

just like the GOPers who got all bent out of shape when Biden condemned white supremacy in his speech. he didn’t say “all republicans are white supremacists” just that white supremacy needs to be faced and eliminated, and they all showed their azz.

when someone complains about white people being racist, I’m like “yup!” because a LOT of white folk are. I know I’m not so I know they’re not talking about ME, just the racist faction.

      • Anilehcim says:

It’s also the fact that the Republican party is trying to pass itself off as the party of the working class now because they’re starting to see their bread will be buttered in the future by the kind of people who staunchly defended Trump. So now there is this absolute BULLSHIT act where they refer to Democrats as “elitists” and try to act as if they’re all unified and together or as if they care AT ALL about any of the kinds of people who Trump appealed to.

She knows damn well what Katie Couric meant, but the Republican party is DESPERATE to get some of that loyalty from the Trump cult. Its Meghan’s job as a Republican shill to join the act where she pretends to be offended by commentary that she knows doesn’t apply to her.

Biden has been in office for 6 days now and everything I’ve read or seen from conservatives is about how he’s oh so divisive and tearing our country apart. It’s asinine that anyone could be dumb enough to believe it, but I’m baffled by how they’re all trying to rewrite the last 4 years and blame so many issues on Biden, who has been president for under a week. What a joke.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

She’s bought and stupid and evil. It’s 3 things.
Her wealth is based on pandering to white supremacy supporters. She wants those paid spots she needs to scream it until she believes it. And she does.

    • shanaynay says:

      It’s most definitely the latter.

  3. Sofia says:

I couldn’t vote for a man who not only has a plethora of beliefs that I will never support, but also constantly insulted my dead father.

    But maybe that’s just me.

  4. OriginalLala says:

Priviledged white women love Trump, she is peak rich white woman so yeah I’m sure she voted for him and she probably has found a way to excuse his comments about her dead father.

  5. TIFFANY says:

She is whoever her paycheck is. Her paycheck was Casino and his followers and that is who she voted for.

This clown and her mother sit on the board of The Federalist. She got a lot of mouths to feed and bills to pay just like you average middle class Nazi.

    • Sofia says:

Her husband also created the Federalist.

    • Jan says:

All you have to do is look up Meghan’s husband and his deplorable track record of plagiarism and other corrupt behavior. Even if Meghan didn’t vote for Trump her husband and his family certainly did. She is carrying water for them, rather than confront the reality of who she is and who she calls family.

  6. damejudi says:

Maybe somebody needs to tell her that Trump has a no fat chicks policy. Maybe that’s the low, horrible type of insult that might wake her up-but I doubt it, since she seems to deflect all of the other horrible things Cheetolini has said and done.

    • L84Tea says:

Okay, was that really necessary?? No “fat chicks”? Really? Mock her clothes, her personality, her words, etc. The woman just had a baby. Leave her body out of the discussion please.

      • damejudi says:

That’s kind of my point, @ L84Tea. I wouldn’t call her that, but Trump would, without hesitation. I was (not effectively, I guess) trying to use hyperbole to ask what will it take for her to disavow Trump? He’s insulted her father, for whom she professes reverence.

What will it take? A horrible, directed right at her, low insult?

      • ravynrobyn says:

@ DAMEJUDI-I got your point-no harm, no foul! ITA 1,000%.

  7. Lizzie Bathory says:

That sweater should burn in hell.

  8. Stacy Dresden says:

She is completely without integrity if she really didn’t vote for Biden.

  9. Indywom says:

The Trump supporters think Meghan is a RINO just like her father. They have no respect for her and do not consider her one of them. Meghan got to where she is riding the coattails of her father and is the type of person they hate. She thrives on being controversial for the sake of controversy. That keeps people from realizing she is not very smart or knowledgeable. She is always talking about how much she knows about people in the middle of the country. Meghan knows nothing about people living in the middle of the country. She is just a spoiled rich brat who contributes nothing to a conversation. I wish someone would give her a makeover because her makeup person truly hates her and that fried blond hair looks awful.

    • ravynrobyn says:

@ INDYMOM-“Being controversial for the sake of controversy.”

      👏👏👏👏👏👏 YASSSSSS 👏👏👏👏👏

There’s ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THERE THERE except spittle and vile poisonous rage.

And she absolutely thrives. On all of it.

  10. lanne says:

her father would have voted for Biden. Actually, he might have been president himself had he chosen Joe Lieberman (conservative Democrat) as his running mate instead of Insane Clown Reactionary Barbie Sarah Palin.

    • Jenn says:

Right, McCain should never have engaged with the Tea Partiers at all.

Bless Katie Couric for interviewing Palin and asking her what news sources she reads (“All of them!”). Without Couric, we’d probably have had a President Palin by now.

  11. Lanie says:

Meanwhile, the Arizona Republican Party censured her mother this past weekend for endorsing Joe Biden.

How did Cindy raise such a garbage daughter?

    • Darla says:

I don’t know it’s an interesting question. This is one angry woman. What’s she got to be so enraged about all the time? I have a theory she’s harboring a lot of anger because she got stuck with her dad’s build and not her mom’s.

    • SM says:

I say the family gatherings are going to get real awkward. She apparently is ok with both her parents being attacked by the angry mob. It is only gonna get her so far evoking the memory of her dead father without even trying to live up to his idea of conduct (even though he did make some huge mistakes).

    • lucy2 says:

I don’t think Cindy herself is too great, but at least did the right thing and supported Biden.

    • Mignionette says:

Cindy did what she needed to do and good for her. She avenged her husband.

As for Meghan – what a crying shame to sh!t on your dad’s legacy like that.

  12. Nina Simone says:

A lot of them have no integrity whatsoever. So no, I won’t be surprised if despite everything, Meghan voted for Trump. Look at Raffensberger (sp), Cruz, McSally etc. They still support Trump despite the horrible things he’s said and done to them.

  13. Amy Bee says:

Of course, she voted for Trump.

  14. Lenn says:

Girl got some work done. Sorry, that’s all I got. I just can’t listen to her actually speak right now.

  15. Spicecake38 says:

She seems like a very miserable person.

  16. STRIPE says:

I’m not sure this means Meghan voted for Trump..I think she is “outraged” that Katie “said” all Republicans need to be deprogrammed…when that’s not what Katie said or meant.

Katie was talking about the Q cult, the people who stormed the capital and their lot. The people who truly believe the election was stolen. They need to be deprogrammed from that lie and the Trumpism of it all.

It was not a blanket statement about all Republicans and all their beliefs period

    • whatWHAT? says:

“It was not a blanket statement about all Republicans and all their beliefs period”

no, it was not. but her reaction is her telling on herself.

  17. FancyHat says:

Of course she did. She’s a complete asshole.

  18. Michelle says:

So I follow her on IG and I don’t think she voted for Trump based on her stories. They’re pretty anti-Trump/pro-Biden. I think she just needed something to work herself up about for The View as the resident conservative 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • L84Tea says:

She lashes out when conservatives get blanketed under something. I believe that’s what she was flipping out about. I don’t think it means she necessarily voted for Trump. Maybe she did, but I don’t think that’s what she was saying here. That’s not how I took it anyway.

  19. Chaine says:

Who decided that women want to watch a show where a bunch of women sit at a table and fight with each other for an hour five days a week? Was it like this when the show first started with Barbara Walters? I can’t stand it and I don’t watch this format.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

When it first started, Meredith Viera was the “moderator”, and it was a GREAT show. Intelligent, fun… I taped it every day and watched when I got home from work. After MV left, the show went down the toilet and has been swirling ever since.

I don’t know HOW it’s still on air.

      • Lionel says:

The View was so good when it started in the 90s! It fell apart, IMO, yes when Meredith Viera left but also when they started casting reality show contestants instead of real working women.

      • Kalana says:

The show was also fun rig by t before Meghan joined. Whoopi, Joy, Sunny, Sara, Jedidiah, and sometimes Anna.

Meghan is so relentlessly self-absorbed and a spoiled, tantrumming, *dumb* brat. She’s not even smart or insightful.

    • lucy2 says:

I don’t remember it being quite that bad, the addition of Meghan seemed to sour things as the others seem to have zero patience for her BS, but it was always an annoying show, at least in the bits and pieces I’ve seen of it over the years.

  20. Leah says:

So Trump disrespected her late father and she voted for him anyway? Tells me all I need to know about her.

I don’t think that Arizona forgot Trump’s comments about John McCain. Regardless of what the AZ GOP is doing right now I heard a lot of red swung to blue because of Trump disrespecting their native son/war hero/POW. Also Cindy McCain’s endorsement of Biden rattled a few cages.

  21. MF1 says:

Nah, I don’t think she voted for Trump. I think she’s trying to defend conservatives because she’s worried about job security. Remember that story from a few weeks ago about how ratings for the View went up when she was on maternity leave? She’s trying to bolster her conservative bonafides in case she’s cut from the show and has to beg for a job at Fox News.

  22. CindyP says:

She is such an unhappy, miserable person. Sucks all the air of the room with her entitled, trust fund baby nonsense

No, Trump lunatics, Pres Biden does NOT have to “include” you . Up to you if you want to be included

  23. Rae says:

    I thoroughly loathe that woman.

  24. Valerie says:

I can’t stand her. I know she’s there to stir up controversy and bring in viewers, but she’s too antagonistic. She should’ve been fired years ago.

  25. diamond rottweiler says:

When I am forced to encounter her, all I can think is “someone could be using those organs.” Welcome to 21st century America, where your monetized pointlessness is the point.

  26. Scarlet Vixen says:

I find the right’s outrage at Couric’s comments to be so bizarre. If anything, I think Couric was too kind in saying they need ‘deprogramming’. It takes too much of the responsibility away from trully sh*tty people who believe & support trully sh*tty things. I think MOST trumpers were already terrible racists (including members of my own family) who just found a loudmouth who spouts their own views. They’re NOT innocent victims of brainwashing–They are people who already believed this crap, and were happy for the ability to take their hoods off & flaunt their disgusting selves.

  27. Izzy says:

Talentless, trashy hack whose only accomplishment has been to trade on her dead father’s good name.

  28. shanaynay says:

I cannot stand hearing her voice. It makes my skin crawl. I have stopped watching this show. MM is a POS, and I don’t want to hear anything she has to say. Each time she opens her mouth I want to stuff a sock into it.

  29. MM2 says:

I was raised in a sexist, racist society as she was. We all need deprogramming at some point, to which degree fluctuates, or we can stay an a-hole forever.

  30. Just A Thought says:

To some people it will be always, party over country. I just could not on the moral grounds, vote for a person that took delight in saying untrue things about my father.

  31. detnow359 says:

Between her and Ted Cruz they are very disrespectful to their families. There is no way I’m publicly supporting anyone who spoke so negatively about my father or wife. I’m not loyal to any political party to be disrespectful to my family like these two have shown themselves to be but I also I’m not financially dependent on being in bed with a political party either. John McCain is dead and his daughter can continue to cry her crocodile tears and pretend she is honoring her father when all she really is doing is pooping on his legacy by cozying up with his enemy. But she still needs to pay her bills so I guess this is what she needs to do. Very sad and disgusting.

  32. HeatherC says:

The only ones I feel bad for are her hair follicles. Otherwise, f*¢k off Meghan McCain

  33. Ksweet says:

The gaslighting of Republicans about how it’s now the Dems job to “embrace unity” and “healing the division” in the country THAT THEY CREATED is making me insane.

  34. Jezebel's Lacefront says:

She voted for him. Her anger stems for being reminded, even though she won’t admit to her action, that she voted for a despicable man. Everything each post on this site mentions rolls through her head. She’s angry at herself for not standing against the b.s.

  35. sassafras says:

On the one hand, I know she feels like she’s doing her job. Hell, maybe she even has producers who are telling her to amp up the conservatism. But what’s going on right now is bigger than her job. Our republic is on very very thin ice if we continue to let people “believe what they want to believe” if that belief is an alternate reality. If she were smarter or a better communicator, she’d be able to straddle the line that Nichole Wallace does – reaffirm her conservative background but also acknowledge that this sh!t is cray and not the GOP that she (or her Dad) loved. But unfortunately, she doesn’t have that ability to reflect and to communicate.

What makes it worse is that behind the scenes the Bidens and the McCains were friends. I’m sure she knows that Joe Biden is a decent person. But she’s not going to help anyone “on her side” understand that if she doesn’t say “you guys are nuts.”

  36. AA says:

I watch “The View” occasionally and she usually ends up making my blood boil, like she did last week complaining about Joe Biden not wearing a mask while he was at the Lincoln Memorial when there was no one else within 25 feet of him. This after he came on “the View” during the campaign and comforted her for the 40,000th time after her father died (MY FATHER WAS JOHN MCCAIN AND HE DIED!) All she does is parrot Fox News for ratings. You can tell Joy Behar has been over her for years.

  37. GuestwithCat says:

I don’t watch The View. I tried once and I was bored and shut it off. I did a little bit of digging on the McCains and from what I can see, Meghan, in a People Magazine article, was reported to have told Cindy that she felt the censure against Cindy was against their family and counted herself in it. So I doubt she actually voted for Trump. I think she’s just either stupidly obtuse or being willfully obtuse here.

Whatever. I just prefer to ignore this perpetually incandescent lump unless or until she actually does something useful. Much as I ignore that other perpetually incandescent lump across the pond, unless it’s to mock his wife’s buttons and bows and remark upon the couple’s general toxicity toward the Sussexes.

Which reminds me, there’s a much better Meghan to pay attention to. It’s definitely not this one.

  38. Jenn says:

McCain is the type of right-leaning Evangelical girl who espouses the beliefs of the man standing nearest. She supplanted her “McCain family values” years ago with those values espoused by her white-supremacist husband.

I consider myself a proponent of free speech but not virulent hate speech, and it’s gotten to the point that I no longer believe there is a place for Meghan McCain on television. I realize part of The View’s “deal” is having at least one dissenting, conservative voice to reflect the social and political views of the show’s “hostile blonde” demographic, but we should not be giving airtime to someone who tacitly condones violent conspiracists. I won’t miss her when she leaves.

  39. Mel says:

She has no shame or loyalty. Mango trash talked her Father, the Father who if it wasn’t for him, she’d be some nameless twit somewhere spouting her ridiculousness into the void, they’ve censured her Mother and STILL this twit is with these people. NO loyalty, none whatsoever.
