I try not to pay too much attention to Megan “I say anything that pops into my pretty little head” Fox. So I only vaguely recall a story in which it was pointed out that Ms. Fox has kind of strange, stubby thumbs. I think the term that was used was the Seinfeld-coined “man hands.” It seems kind of petty to point out that an otherwise lovely, albeit vacuous, narcissistic woman, has weird, ugly thumbs, but there you go. Maybe that’s why she’s always sticking her damn thumb in her mouth – to hide it.
Anyway Megan appeared in an ad for Motorola that aired during the Super Bowl. I briefly considered adding it to our Superbowl commercial story, but it didn’t make anyone’s top ten list and I prefer to ignore Megan where possible. You can’t ignore Megan’s giant thumbs, though, and Motorola realized this. They replaced Megan’s hands in the commercial with a hand model with more proportionate digits. My favorite part of this story is how the NY Daily News quotes experts who give medical reasons for why Megan’s thumbs could be so messed up.
Megan’s thumb vs. thumb in the ad
If Motorola’s Superbowl commercial proved anything Sunday night, it’s that there are one too many bloggers out there who are overly familiar with Megan Fox’s body parts – especially her thumbs.
The commercial features the sexy “Transformers” star au natural in a bathtub filled with strategically placed bubbles.
According to the Daily Mail, after the commercial aired, meticulous bloggers noted that Motorola employed a hand double for Fox’s closeups.
“Did anyone else catch this?” wrote a blogger for Celebrity Smack. “I couldn’t help but chuckle when they showed a close-up of the Motorola phone and the hands holding it were definitely not Megan Fox’s.”
After Fox’s promotional movie photos surfaced last summer, revealing a candid look at her abnormally shaped thumbs, the Daily News learned that the 23-year-old actress has a hereditary defect known as brachydactyly.
“Literally, what it means is short finger,” Dr. Steven Bendner, a hand surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center, told us. “The nail of the thumb in this condition is often very short and wide.
“It is usually hereditary. Although it could also have been caused by frostbite, or it could have been an injury to the growth plate in childhood.”
But don’t expect Fox’s so-called clubbed thumbs to stand in the way of her career anytime soon.
“In Megan Fox’s case, it appears that only the last bone of the thumb is affected and that it does not involve the joint,” says Dr. Richard Kim, director of congenital hand surgery at Hackensack Medical Center. “For her, it looks like it’s just a cosmetic deficit.”

Both of Megan’s hands have that very minor defect. It’s not that noticeable in photos, but you can see why ad execs would chose to use a hand model instead of showcasing Megan’s normal stubby thumbs. I wonder how much she got paid for that ad. Did they deduct a small percentage to make up for the fact that they couldn’t use her real hands?

How nice of them to modify a slight difference to make it boringly undistinguished. Everyone has to look the same. God forbid the hot girl is seemingly imperfect.

I just read this fascinating story in newsweek i think it was about how all the tech stuff on the market today has made hand models in really high demand-there are so many commercials, exactly like this one, that needs hands to press and touch things, and they make bank!

I have thumbs like Megan. I used to hide them when I was a kid. A few of my relatives have them as well but the weird thing for them is they have one clubbed thumb and one “normal” thumb, while both of mine are clubbed. I’m not a Megan Fox fan but I found this “revelation” interesting. LOL…God forbid anyone be different in this day of plastic beauty a la Heidi Spencer.

I liked the commercial. But this years commercials really sucked it up…hard.
Her thumbs don’t look that bad when they’re manicured.
Everyone makes fun of my pinky toes. They call them “stubs.” They are about an inch shorter than my other toes. I never noticed until people decided to point it out. Now I’m gonna have to google which condition I have.

Toe thumbs get thumb doubled LMAO Shes also a real orange blonde (Black dye job), with orange skin, flat feet, terrible skin, acne canyons, and tiny eyes guess thats also a H disorder….like her acting and just career. Nobody finds her appealing in the slightest. She’s only a merage with literally oceans on make up on when she’s at events and infinately PSed.

Well now im gona tell him: Megan Fox has the same thumbs. I always thought i am the only person in the whole world with such a thumb. No one in my family has them. Maybe we are a bunch of lost relatives?

I actually knew a hand model once. They can’t use their hands for ANYTHING because they might get muscles. They can’t touch paper (paper cuts). They can’t do dishes. They can’t open windows. I’m sure cooking is out. This one woudn’t even shake hands with anyone without wearing specially padded gloves. She wore elbow gloves winter and summer. But she made bank!

I have a friend from school with a thumb like that.
Her big toes are long and the nail part is round like a lollypop but the rest of her toes are small, poor girl, can’t wear sandals because her big toes wrap over the shoes!

I actually embrace it. No one is perfect. It doesn’t matter how beautiful you are, you’re gonna get mad fun of for something. People may make fun of her thumb, but it doesn’t make her any less beautiful. Her stupid quote however, are not in her favor.

yikes someone was hating on megan fox for having ‘orange blonde’ hair, it’s called strawberry blonde and don’t hate. although i have a really hard time seeing her skin tone with that kind of hair. we strawberry blondes generally have paler skin with tones of pink.
anyway, i would say something about judging a woman soley on her appearance or something, but megan fox has made her career out of being “the hot girl” which makes it harder to judge her on anything else…larger argument to women to not define themselves by their physical attributes…not going there.

I do not why there is so much hate for this woman, yes she says anything that pops in her head, but is she really dumb?
Who knows, but she is pulling in the cash, probably more than she should get with her talent, yet she is pulling it in, so she has to be smart in some way.
Also, she is either in love or really loyal, she was with guy from 90210, before she hit the big times, and she is still with him, they supposedly broke up a few times (according to gossip blogs), mostly when her movie is coming out, but after you see them together.
From what I understand she does have some issues with men, and looking like she does and how Hollywood is, the issues are probably justified, so though I do not care enough about her as an actress, I do hope she found her special one with the 90210 guy.

Call me shallow but there were times in Transformers that I was turned off because of Megan’s thumbs. I had never noticed them before but they were pointed out a while back and now that’s all I see. It is strange that such a pretty girl has such strange hands (or rather thumbs).

Come on, this girl and other hollywood starlets sell themselves on their physical beauty, manufactured or real. We can forgive them for their youthful ignorance but physical imperfections? There are plenty of pretty girls with perfect thumbs. You now wont be able to watch Meagan Fox without looking for her ‘toethumbs’, and at some level be grossed out. Screen godesses are not there to represent real women they are the embodiment of contempory female beauty.
