Ryan Gosling is currently filming Star Wars: Starfighter in Europe. The production is primarily just outside of London, but they’ve also shot scenes in Sardinia, Italy. The Gosling/Mendes family is very close and very private. Ryan choses his projects carefully and reportedly takes his family on location with him. In fact, Eva Mendes and their daughters are in London with Ryan right now. Ryan and Eva were papped in London last week, prompting the Daily Mail to run a piece that claimed the entire family had “fled” the US for the Hampstead area in order to escape our “unstable political landscape.” Well, Eva caught wind of this article and set the record straight. They have not moved to London!
Eva Mendes is denying reports that she and husband Ryan Gosling have moved their family abroad. On Monday, Nov. 3, the actress confirmed that she, her longtime partner and their two daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 9, have not moved to England.
The Daily Mail reported on Friday, Oct. 31 that the family of four moved from the U.S. to London. In response, the Hitch star posted a photo of the article to her Instagram Stories, and denied the move, writing, “WRONG again @dailymail.”
Mendes, 51, confessed that though she’s been loving her time in London, she “can’t wait to get back home and celebrate the @dodgers World Series championship!” She added, “Go Dodgers!!!”
The actress’s statement follows the October rumors that she and Gosling, 44, purchased a home in North London and that Esmeralda and Amada were enrolled in school in London.
The family’s current stay in London coincides with Gosling’s role in the latest Star Wars film, Star Wars: Starfighter. While Mendes is by his side supporting his latest acting job, she revealed last year that she “was never in love with acting.”
I understand why Eva would want to set the record straight, especially because the DM tied their alleged move to American politics. Given the way the president went after Rosie O’Donnell after her move to Ireland, who would want a spotlight like that? I can also understand why there’s some confusion over where their family lives. Eva, Esmerelda, and Amada also accompanied Ryan on location last summer when he filmed Project Hail Mary in the UK. They rented a place in Notting Hill and Eva spoke about how much she loved living in London. Finally, I wouldn’t blame them if they relocated to the UK! My sister has lived in London on two separate occasions over the last 15 years, and I’ve visited her several times. It’s a fun city.
Oh, and regarding Eva’s Dodgers love, as both a NY Yankees and a San Diego Padres fan, I cannot let that sentiment pass without giving one big ole “F the Dodgers.”
