Over the past year, we’ve been hearing bits and pieces about the unauthorized biography British journalist Andrew Morton is writing about Angelina Jolie (called Angelina). Previously, Morton has written biographies on Princess Diana, Tom Cruise and Madonna. He has the heart of journalist, and he seems to actually try to do quality interviews and get genuine sourcing on everything. So no matter what, the book will probably have more truth about Angelina than slime bucket Ian Halperin’s piece of sh-t “tell-all”. Anyway, Morton’s book just got a release date, and he just released the cover to People Mag:
It could be anyone pictured on the cover of Andrew Morton’s latest celebrity tell-all, Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, save for the trademark “know your rights” tattoo across Angelina Jolie’s back.
A first look at the jacket of the controversial new book shows Jolie, 34, photographed from behind – with only the back of her head and upper torso visible. It’s a fitting perspective since the biography was done without her approval.
The tome, published by St. Martin’s Press, is due out Aug. 3. Will you add it to your summer reading list?

I hate to admit it, but I will read Morton’s book. I like his writing style, he’s got a nice balance between true journalistic fact-checking and tabloid sensationalism. Previously, in interviews Morton has expressed his desire to find out more about Angelina in the post-Jonny Lee Miller, pre-Billy Bob Thornton phase of her life, and said that his goal in writing the book was: “I want to separate the truth from all the fiction and all the hype that follows Angelina everywhere. I’d love to sit down with her, and I’ve made an approach asking her to cooperate on the book.”

I think she looks beautiful in these pix and I like the dress, it has a retro feel to it. I am always amazed at how all the different paps and mags photoshop Angi’s skin. I have stood or sat near her a few times & can tell you she has a lot of moles and a lot of tats, and huge veins, yet you rarely see these things in these photos. My impression is that the pap & tabloid world continue to propagate the “worlds most beautiful perfect woman” hype becuz they all make so much money off her.

I’d be curious to read this one. I’m not a fan of hers, but I do find her interesting, and I’d be curious to see what he writes about her. I think the Tom Cruise one was kind of a bust though, wasn’t it? Maybe if Tom’s crazy had stayed hidden, it’d have been more scandalous, but by that point we all kind of knew he was a bit cuckoo. Might be the same for Angelina, so much info is already out there.

Biographies are only good when the subject is dead. Live subjects have too many lawyers to ever have the whole truth come out.

I am a fan of Angelina but I don’t get why someone would buy this book. For one, she is only 34. Yes, she has lived a full life so far but she still has many more years to go. Second, I am sure that this books heavy focus will be on her late teens and twenties but she has already said everything about those years. So she was a wildchild in her twenties, but is that enough to make you want to buy a book about it? It just seems odd.

Oh dear!! Isn’t this the THIRD unauthorized bio about Angelina since November? Whatever happened to that woman (I think another Brit) who supposedly wrote a sensational bio about a month ago? Did it not sell? I just want to know exactly who buys these things. I mean, I’m an Angelina fan from way back but I have no intention of ever buying a book about her that she had zero to do with. By the same token, if you hate the woman, why would you pay $15-$25 of your hard earned money to read about her? Just pick up a ragmag now and then and you get the same lies for less money
By the way, that Halperin bio is now available all over the place for $1.00!! Still too expensive, in my book!!

FUNNY HOW some of the comments act as if Angelina has done something personal to them.. the need to bring her down. to discover some dark secret. she has shared so much of her life.. Nothing new to come. Another disappointment for the non fans. Maybe you all should just move on. Especially since you don’t like her. Such a waste of energy.
Fans don’t need to buy this book. Angie has told it all. Plus Brad Pitt did not belong to any of you. they are together and for those still having problems with that fact over 5 years later..

I’ve been an Angelina fan for a good 8 years now and know so much about her. I’ll wait to hear from Angelina fans if it’s a good read or another smut book based on many made up sources to make the book juicy. It’s more believable if they print the names. A great book is Notes from My Travel by Angelina Jolie, super and all proceeds go directly to the charity.

Don’t you know Angelina must pay the ultimate sacrifice for Brad falling in love with her and leaving his marriage with three kids (I made the last part up but some really believe he left a family with kids starving). You’d think she went out and butchered a kid or two, blew up some buildings or threw rocks at your kids. She has beauty and brains and a very loving heart that ex can’t compete with. There’s many dumped women who truly feel as if they can’t compete with Angelina either so they decide to hate as well. After being on this site for a year I wouldn’t put up with many of you either, really I can see why you were dumped.

If the book glorifies her, then fans will be saying that Andrew Morton is the Messiah reincarnated. If the book reveals any darkness, then he’s a total fraud, an idiot, a sham, and worth calling every name under the sun. Talk about choosing what to believe. And teri, you don’t know anybody here. teri I bought the book and I disagree that it is a great book, I felt it lacked mature insight, and it was full of cliches. And yes I am somewhat of a fan, but a critical one. The proceeds do go to charity so I don’t feel bad about the purchase.
I can’t imagine what this new Bio will introduce that is not already out there, and I agree she is way too young to have a bio written about her life already.

Love that picture of she and Brad. Their first Red Carpet together. I remember it well. He was so protective. LOVE them. and as a fan I would NEVER buy an unauthorized book so I won’t be able to tell anyone if it is a good read or not. I only buy Legit interviews. She has told the world a lot about her life. I can’t imagine what Morton will say that has not been said. You can rewrite a fact just so many times. She is 34 years old. Hardly cooked. But hey she did not contrubute to the book. I am sure he wanted her to so bad. Wanted another Diana thing going. Angie tells it like it is. So whatever he says or re hashes has already been said and done. That hack Ian said he had intervied hundreds of people and according to the people who read it all he did was rewrite the crap in the rags. None of the magazines have been about to put one face to a story. so really they know nothing because there is nothing to know that she has not said..
I think she has done what many celebs are now trying to do. Tell it all before someone else comes along to try and spin it for their benefit.
No fan is going to buy that book. and it will go the way of the one before it. We fans have real interviews to read and know the truth from. I don’t need the book. And the non fans will do as they always do. Hope for something else to throw her way.. Love that Angie is still standing. I don’t think many people would under the same circumstances. Another reason I am such a BIG Fan.

teri has a point though. I have a theory that women who relate to Angelina – uberconfident and free-spirited – dislike Jen. and those who relate to Jen, perhaps in that they are the ‘good girls’ and wary of the overtly sexual free-spirit, vilify Angelina.
the Angelinas don’t like to be vilified and called a homewrecker by the goody-two-shoes ‘victim’. and the Jens will always be judgmental and spiteful of the sexpots that catch the eyes of their boyfriends/husbands.

@Crash: That synopsis was hilarious. “Happy marriage”? Happy marriages don’t go into couple’s counseling two months afer the wedding. According to both parties, that marriage was dead in the water at least a year before they split.

@crash: I’m sorry, but that whole “article” was laughable! It pretty much plays on all the hateful comments that each camp slings at each other. It’s not insightful, educated or even unbiased! To assume that the fans of Jen have all been cheated on or abused? Or left? Or to assume that all Jolie fans love children? Wow. I took basic psych classes in college, and I think I could write a better synopsis. Even funnier still, the points about Jolie contradict themselves. They give a modern take on Jolie’s independence, yet place a heavy-handed, 1950′s outlook on how a woman’s job is to please her man, keep her man, and give him kids. Thumbs down. WAY down.

I love Morton’s books. Fun to read and he gets the facts straight.No one has sucessfully sued him yet.
I’d hate to have Angelina as the mother of my grandchildren..
Mental problems, drugs, cutting, bisexual (you never know where its been), anything goes attitude, no real home for the children, they are lucky to have each other as they aren’t in one place long enough to have friends. Does anyone monitor their schooling or lack of it? I see Jolie as a master manipulator who is anything but a saint. If they raise six healthy children and IF, and only IF, they really care about them – that is punishment enough – just wait until they are teenagers!!!

Jolie is a hypocrite. If hating hypocrisy means being a hater, fine. she takes full advantage of the media portrayal of her humanitarian efforts. Its not about starving children. Its about HER. Not long ago she was a weirdo freak chick, and in fact she still is one. And Pitt is just a normal middle age guy now. So many other middle aged actors are WAY better looking. Aaron Eckhart, Johnny Depp. What gets me is how transparent this woman is, and yet people act like she’s a mystery.
