Back in late 2007 and early 2008, when Britney Spears was wandering around, driving aimlessly and talking in a British accent, she dated a slimy British paparazzo named Adnan Ghalib. Britney dated Adnan before, and after, her breakdown. We heard that Adnan was married, that he was setting up Britney to be stalked by his paparazzi buddies, and that he’d even made a sex tape with her, which he confirmed existed and was allegedly hoping to make millions off of. Thankfully that never surfaced, but enough details came out about the guy to suggest that he was using Britney and he wasn’t good for her.

Fast forward to now, and Ghalib is now a witness in the defamation trial against Britney’s family by another creepy guy who was using her at the time, Sam Lutfi. As we’ve heard, Lutfi maintains that Britney’s family smeared him so that he would take the fall for her breakdown. He claims that he was Britney’s “manager” back then and that they still owe him millions of dollars, of course. Ghalib testified on Lutfi’s behalf and claimed that Britney’s mom told him to blame Lutfi for her daughter’s problems. Here’s more, thanks to People:

Another familiar face from Britney Spears’s chaotic past surfaced in court Tuesday: Adnan Ghalib, the paparazzo she once dated as her life unraveled in 2008.

Wearing a black suit and his trademark landing-strip goatee, Ghalib, 40, testified in a posh British accent that his relationship with the pop star changed from work-related to romantic beginning in December 2007.

Asked how often he was with Spears, he quietly replied, “Daily. I was there everyday.”

Ghalib, who was subpoenaed to appear in the case, denied he ever saw Spears’s former pal Sam Lutfi hide cell phones from the singer or withhold access to her dog, London.

Instead, Ghalib alleged that Spears’s mom Lynne once tried to coerce him.

“She requested that I say [to the media] Sam Lutfi was responsible for Britney Spears’s behavior,” he said.

Under cross-examination, Ghalib confirmed that he bought a disposable cell phone at Lutfi’s request to be smuggled to the singer in mid-2008, months after her father obtained legal control over her.

Ghalib also admitted that a judge ordered him to stay away from Spears for three years and was once arrested while evading a process server in the case.

Lutfi’s case against the Spears family is expected to wrap Tuesday, and the singer’s legal team will begin their defense. Lutfi is suing the singer for unpaid fees, Jamie Spears for allegedly punching him, and Lynne Spears for purportedly defaming him in her 2008 book.

The part about Ghalib and Lutfi sneaking Britney a disposable cell phone is interesting, because we heard about it back in early 2009 and now we know it was true. That was part of the reason why Britney’s conservators got restraining orders for her against both Lutfi and Ghalib for three years, both of which have since expired. Ghalib and Lutfi were working together, so of course they’re going to back each other’s side of the story. I have no doubt that Lutfi was using Britney and that Lynn Spears was telling the truth when she claimed that Lutfi drugged her daughter and bragged about it. Ghalib was using Britney too, and he’s not above lying for his friend if there’s some money in it for him. Lutfi doesn’t deserve a cent, and I’m surprised that this has even gone to trial. To me this shows how adamant Britney’s people are that Lutfi doesn’t have a case – they refused to settle even though they knew what bad publicity it would be to take this to court.

Britney Spears in in New York, y’all. Last night she performed at Madison Square Garden to resounding success, which was the first of three nights of performances she will give. She performed after spending some quality time with her cute little boys. Brit took Sean and Jayden to The Little Mermaid over the weekend, and spent Monday afternoon taking a ride in a pedicab with the boys in Central Park. She caused something of a minor havoc in the park, with rollerblades and joggers all chasing after her. But all was well. It actually seems like Britney has been back on track generally for months now – sure, there are slips. We’ve all had some moments when we’ve looked at pictures of her and thought “Oh, God – the jackboots of doom” or “that busted weave shows a busted mind”. But Britney prevails! Which makes me hope this latest report is bullsh-t. Here’s the thing – I don’t think it is. Fox News Pop Tarts is reporting that Britney is still hung up on paparazzo-stalker-enabler-douchenozzle Adnan Ghalib:

Just when we all thought that Britney Spears was finally back, it seems instead she’s slipping backwards.

The pop princess’s long-standing conservatorship under her father Jamie’s reign may come to an end in November, but it sounds like little has changed since her father was put in charge of her affairs last year.

According to a very close insider, Spears is still madly in love with paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, who she dated for a few months at the beginning of last year during her darkest days. The pap-turned-celebrity-by-association was later charged with assault, hit-and-run and battery stemming from an incident in which he allegedly attempted to run over a court official who was trying to serve a restraining order on him.

In July this year Jamie Spears’s request to have a restraining order against Ghalib was approved by the court, and he has been prohibited from going within 100 yards of Britney and banned from all forms of communication with her ever since.

“It is really breaking Britney’s heart,” the source told Pop Tarts. “She is still totally in love with Adnan and she can’t even speak too him, it’s making her really depressed.”

Our source also confirmed speculation that she’s dating her 37-year-old William Morris agent, Jason Trawick, although it seems her dad is the one most involved in the romance.

“Jamie (Spears) is really, really pushing the relationship with Jason, he thinks he’s a really good influence on Britney,” added our source. “And the last thing he wants is Britney going back to Adnan. She would if she could.”

I can believe that Jamie Spears is pushing Jason Trawick on Britney - Brit seems like she’s not that into him. She goes for men who are a lot trashier, lets face it. She has a type. But maybe I’m misreading that situation. CB has questions about whether Britney and Jason are even together anymore – she thinks that Jason dumped her and that Britney actually liked him a lot. Or perhaps Britney and Jason get along fine, and she’s grown enough the past few years to really fall for a different kind of man, and have a private relationship. I hope so. Because I don’t want Adnan anywhere near Britney. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Sam Lutfi is bringing out the big guns in his case to beat a restraining order against him, forcing him to stay away from Britney Spears. Sam has long claimed that it’s Britney who’s repeatedly contacted him, begging for his helping in getting out from under dad Jamie Spears’ conservatorship. So who’d he get to testify? His little sister. A rock solid witness who I’m sure has no other motivations and couldn’t possibly be manipulated by Sam. Right.

It seems Britney Spears’s life has gone from soap opera to spy novel. Sam Lutfi’s younger sister Christina testified in a Los Angeles court Wednesday that she recently snuck a cell phone to the pop star at a Beverly Hills hotel – a plan allegedly hatched by Spears herself. Spears, 27, whose phone access is strictly limited by her father Jamie, had initially called Sam’s cell phone number in mid-January to speak with Christina.

“[Britney] told me she wanted to get a hold of Sam,” said Christina, 25, whose brother had once been Spears’s manager. “She wanted him to help her find a lawyer, and wanted someone to get a prepaid cell phone to her. She was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids.”

Spears allegedly told Christina to meet her on the fifth floor gym of the Peninsula Hotel on Jan. 16. When Christina arrived, Spears was working out with her mother while a bodyguard stood nearby. But they rendezvoused in a sauna where Christina gave her a phone, saying it was from Sam and ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, which Spears then hid in a locker. “She asked me, ‘Will Sam be able to help me?’” Christina added.

The phone, however, was later discovered by Spears’s security team and confiscated from her purse.

Earlier on Wednesday, Blair Berk, a lawyer for Jamie Spears, testified that Britney “was in such fear [of Sam], she asked if I could get him arrested, to keep him away from her.” As for a purported recording of the pop star circulating the internet in which she allegedly asks for a lawyer’s help in ending her father’s legal control, Berk said the singer repeatedly denied she was seeking outside legal help. Berk also expressed doubt in the recording’s authenticity.

Let’s not forget that Sam Lutfi is the guy who admitted to Lynne Spears – bragged, really – that he consistently drugged Britney by grinding up pills and putting them in her drinks. Britney wasn’t making great choices before he came along, but it’s when Sam started controlling her life that she really went off the rails. There is no reason to believe a word from anyone related to him. I can only imagine the way he must have Svengalied his sister over the years. Enough to make Svengali a verb.

The recording of a supposed Britney asking for a lawyer’s help does sound like her, but it certainly hasn’t been verified. And what the woman on the tape says doesn’t really make any sense. It sounds like she doesn’t know the lawyer she’s leaving the message for, like she just contacted him once prior and was calling to see that everything was done. Obviously in a case like hers she’d need consistent contact with an attorney. It was very general and weird – something about it just seemed off. I wouldn’t put it past Sam Lutfi to have somehow faked it.

I agree that Jamie Spears is controlling, and it can’t be fun for a 27-year-old woman to be forced to behave by her dad. But I’d take a hundred Jamie Spears over one Sam Lutfi any day.

Oh, Britney. She just has such horrible taste in men. This latest news does come out of a British tabloid, but I totally believe it. The Sun is reporting that Britney Spears is still in contact with paparazzo/douchebag ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. This comes after news of his multiple felony charges, his probable deportation back to either Britain or Afghanistan, and the three-year restraining order that Britney’s dad had placed against him.

The Sun claims that Britney is sneaking messages to Adnan, begging him to help her gain her freedom. She’s also getting messages to him through her styling people and hair people. Uh-oh. If Jamie finds out about that, he’ll fire everyone who enables Britney.

Britney, 27, has shown she is back to health while on the US leg of her Circus tour. But pals say while she is enjoying spending her free time with her kids – she is desperately lonely and misses having a boyfriend.

But Ghalib, who began dating Britney in late 2007 before her meltdown, currently faces deportation back to Britain or his native Afghanistan.

He was last night due to appear in court on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, and hit and run after he allegedly tried to run over a legal worker who tried to serve him with a restraining order obtained by Britney’s dad Jamie Spears.

There have been reports like this before, and I believed those too. Britney probably thinks she’s in love with Adnan. Maybe in some part of the dark recesses of her still-crazy mind, she honestly thinks he’ll come and save her from her father. Can you even wrap your head around that one? First you’re with Kevin Federline, and then it gets even worse – Adnan Ghalib. It’s like a cruel joke.

I would really hope that at some point Adnan would man up and say “Britney, this isn’t going to work, I’m about to be deported.” But I think he’s gotten a taste of how easy it was to manipulate her in any state, and now he wants more.

Today, a judge granted Britney Spears an extended restraining order, preventing ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib from having any contact with the pop star for three years. Adnan has had a lot of trouble with the law recently, being charged with three felonies after he tried to run over a proccess server – charges which could land him in jail for up to seven years. He plead guilty. The extended restraining order comes on the heels of news of Britney’s secret phone calls to Adnan and Sam Lutfi, his partner in crime.

Britney Spears got a break today — whether she knows it or not. A judge just ordered Adnan Ghalib to stay completely clear of Brit for three years.

You’ll recall Brit’s conservators already got a temporary restraining order prohibiting Adnan from having contact with the famous conservatee, after Adnan allegedly tried torpedoing the conservatorship.

Adnan was a no show for today’s hearing, so the judge gave the green light for a permanent injunction.

This is great news for Britney’s well-being. She has an addictive personality, and it will take legally separating her from her past before she’ll be able to get better. Who knows what went on during those secret telephone calls, but it can’t have been good. Britney’s father is running her life right now, and though that may be a good thing in the long run, it wouldn’t be hard for Adnan to convince her that she was being taken advantage of – even though it’s Adnan that’s the bad guy.

It’s not surprising that Ghalib didn’t show up for the hearing, though you’d think he’d make even a little effort, considering his reputation at the moment. Hopefully this longer lasting restraining order will give Britney more time to get better.

What is Adnan Ghalib most famous for? Taking advantage of Britney Spears back when she was really crazy? Continuing to take advantage of her when she was trying to get better? Being a paparazzo with no soul? All of the above? Whenever I hear his name, I only think “this guy’s a user and he should be in jail.” Wish (sort of) granted!

Back in February, Adnan Ghalib was charged with three felonies, including assault charges, battery and hit-and-run. But the paparazzi photographer is now facing three assault charges that could earn him a seven-year jail sentence in the US or deportation to Afghanistan.

Ghalib, 36, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery.

The charges relate to an incident on 11 February in Los Angeles when a court official tried to serve him with a restraining order to stay away from Britney.

I’m sad to say that Britney Spears will probably be heartbroken if Adnan gets deported. There were continuous rumors that Adnan was/is still in Britney’s life, and I totally believe it. Britney’s got the combination of horrible taste in men and poor impulse control.

Last week professional douchebag/paparazzo Adnan Ghalib tried to run over a process server who was trying to serve him legal papers. And of course, he fled. Because he’s a professional douchebag, and that’s what douchebags do. Now, thanks to that little act of genius, Ghalib’s been charged with three felonies, has a warrant out for his arrest, and could theoretically spend up to seven years in prison. Yay!

Sometimes you just can’t tell who your friends are. Literally. Britney Spears’ ex-admirer Adnan Ghalib is facing felony charges for allegedly hitting a process server with his car as the guy tried to present Ghalib with the Spears family’s restraining order against him, according to Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Jane Robison.

Ghalib was charged Tuesday with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit-and-run for the alleged Feb. 11 incident. Prosecutors have asked that bail be set at $110,000. Ghalib is facing up to seven years in prison if convicted on all charges. The paparazzo is accused of hitting the man in an alley behind Ghalib’s Encino, Calif., apartment, where the server was presumably waiting for a chance to deliver his wares to Ghalib.

Per the criminal complaint, Ghalib started to drive toward the man, who, in order to avoid being pinned against a garbage truck, jumped onto the hood of Ghalib’s Mercedes. Ghalib swerved and the alleged victim fell off, breaking his wrist and sustaining other injuries. The defendant then drove away without stopping.

In the meantime, despite his alleged efforts to dodge the paperwork, Ghalib is also required to stay at least 500 yards away from Spears. The restraining order is in effect until at least tomorrow, when the parties are due back in court.

It would make me so happy if Adnan actually spent some time in prison. I’m sure the inmates would have an extra special time with him, what with his minor celebrity/notoriety and all. People like him make me so angry. He honestly just doesn’t believe that the rules apply to him too. Don’t want to be served legal papers? Well then it’s absolutely fine to run over the guy trying to serve them to you. I mean that’s your right, you shouldn’t have to deal with anything you don’t want to deal with.

I’m sure he’ll plead it all down to misdemeanors. But until he does, I can still imagine the attention that faux-hawk of his is going to get in prison.

Yesterday, we told you how the entire Spears clan is making a very nice living off of their eldest daughter Britney. Probably the only family member who is actually earning his paycheck is daddy Jamie Spears, who stepped in as his daughter’s conservator and got rid of the insidious Sam Lutfi just when it appeared that he was poised to take over Britney’s life and cause her serious harm. Jamie appeared at a court hearing yesterday in Los Angeles with testimony that Lutfi had violated the terms of a restraining order filed against him last year. Papa Spears believes that either Lutfi or skeezy photograher/ex-boytoy Adnan Ghalib slipped Britney a pre-paid cell phone on which both men were contacting her.

Daddy Jamie Spears is on the stand right now, explaining that Britney somehow got her hands on a pre-paid cell phone which caused him fits because they have been strictly monitoring the phones she’s able to use.

The nanny heard Britney talking to Sam and Adnan on the pre-paid phone in the wee hours of the morning one day. It appears Jamie believes Sam and Adnan got her the phone in an attempt to poison her against Jamie and torpedo the conservatorship.

If Sam did have any contact with Britney, he would have violated a court order to stay the hell away from her.

Jamie is trying to make the temporary restraining order against the dynamic duo permanent.

If Britney is still actively in contact with either one of these douches, you really have to wonder how stable she actually is. Both Sam and Adnan are shady guys who were clearly looking to exploit Britney for their own benefit. As much as I question Britney’s family in this whole endeavor, they are a lot less harmful than either one of those guys. If Britney’s parents had not intervened when they did, I believe Britney would probably be dead right now. Hopefully the judge in this case will be sensible and extend the order permanently.

On January 30, the Spears camp requested a restraining order against Adnan Ghalib, who was reportedly calling and harassing Britney, although her former self-proclaimed manager Sam Lutfi was a more persistent problem. A few days later, Ghalib hit back with a lawsuit claiming defamation and libel. Now he has gone and further tarnished his name by trying to run over a man trying to serve him legal documents.

Britney Spears’s ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib allegedly tried to run over a man on Monday who was trying to serve Ghalib with court papers in Los Angeles, police say.

The process server “ended up on the hood of the car, then fell off when [Ghalib] drove away, and ended up with scratches and bruises,” Lt. Brian Whitten tells PEOPLE.

A report was taken for assault with a deadly weapon, but Ghalib, 36, is not a wanted man.

“He’s not liable for arrest,” Whitten said. “We first need to get his side of the story.”

Unfortunately, the officer quoted in the article says that Ghalib does not have a warrant out for his arrest – they want “his side of the story” first. His side of the story? That someone was trying to give him court papers he didn’t want. Simple as that. This guy sounds about as stable as Britney was a year ago, and I wouldn’t trust a word out of his mouth. I just hope the Spears camp is able to get him out of Britney’s life for good.

Apparently Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib aren’t done with Britney Spears. This week the singer had to get restraining orders against them. Why? After an entire year of being out of her life and out of the spotlight, the two are still conspiring to undermine her conservatorship. That’s legal speak for “they’re trying to get back in Britney’s life and take advantage of her again.”

According to TMZ, the pair have been conspiring with lawyer Jon Eardley to act on Brit’s behalf legally. Eardley once tried to claim he was Britney’s lawyer (even though she already had one) in an attempt to challenge the conservatorship – at Lutfi’s behest.

Both Sam and Adnan have been communicating with Britney. Sam is obviously the bigger problem, being the more evil one. He’s been threatening Britney’s dad Jamie as well, and has sent out text and instant messages with false accusations. This guy sure is persistent.

TMZ has just obtained declarations from Jamie Spears and others in the latest Britney Spears case — Britney’s lawyer says Sam Lutfi had inserted himself and tried peddling false and hurtful info about Jamie, Britney and others in her family. Sam allegedly was calling lawyers saying that Britney wanted to hire her own lawyer, presumably to fight the conservatorship. Sources tell TMZ that is definitely not what Britney wanted.

As we first reported, the conservators for Britney Spears obtained a restraining order today against Sam Lutfi, Adnan Ghalib and attorney Jon Eardley. We’re told Brit herself is furious at Lutfi and Ghalib and would like to see them jailed.

Here’s the most interesting part….According to the legal papers, late last month Lutfi sent text messages to Brit’s hairdresser, saying he wasn’t responsible for the conservatorship. A week or so later, Britney received “instant messages from a person with the screen name ____….The person — who posed as the mother of a daughter with autism — made a number of utterly false and hurtful assertions concerning Mr. Spears and his family, threatening to go public with such purported ‘information’ unless Mr. Spears spoke with that person.” Almost immediately after Brit got those messages, Lutfi began calling Jamie.

Sam Lutfi has also been communicating with Britney and Jamie’s lawyers. And this guy isn’t trying to go under the radar when he threatens and blackmail the Spears. He actually thinks he’s so entitled to have a say in Britney’s life that he’s not afraid to go to lawyers with claims that he knows secrets about Brit and her dad.

One of the lawyers in the case filed a declaration saying over the past month she received “multiple telephone calls and text messages from Lutfi.” She says Lutfi wanted to set up an urgent meeting to “speak with Mr. Spears and me with regard to what he claimed was ‘information he had received about Mr. Spears and his daughter, Britney Spears as well as others.’” The attorney also says Lutfi claimed “he had been talking with Adnan Ghalib about the conservatorship and Ms. Spears’ status as a conservatee.”

In another document, one of the conservatorship lawyers claims “Mr. Lutfi has sent text messages and instant messages that contain false and hurtful allegations concerning Mr. Spears, Ms. Spears, and the Spears family.” The lawyer continues, “Mr. Lutfi, Adnan Ghalib, and Jon Eardley sought unsuccessfully to induce an attorney to file” false statements with the court.

The papers make it clear….”Over the past month, Ms. Spears has had numerous telephone conversations with both Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Ghalib and has exchanged numerous text messages with both of them.” But we’re told now Brit is so mad at them she wants them locked up.

Under the TRO, Lutfi, Ghalib and Eardley must stay 250 yards away from Britney, her parents and her kids. The TRO also prohibits the trio from “acting on Ms. Spears’ behalf…inducing or assisting another person to file legal pleadings” on her behalf.

This guy just doesn’t quit. Lutfi is both a master manipulator and a control freak – the perfect Svengali. It’s hard to believe that after all this time he’s still trying to insert himself into Britney’s life, and thinks he should have some say in it. He’s just some random, evil guy that passed through her life. He’s not family, he’s not a business associate. He’s nothing, and he knows his only claim to fame is as the guy who messed up Britney Spears’ life for a while. How pathetic is it that after a whole year, he’s still got nothing else going on in his life but to obsess over Britney?

I think Sam Lutfi could truly be dangerous. He’s clearly infatuated with Britney and can’t let her go. He insists on having a say in her life and can’t handle being told otherwise. He’s a control freak who’s gone so far as to threaten her family members. He seems like the kind of extreme person who won’t take no for an answer. Britney has a lot of security, but I hope she beefs it up. Better yet, I hope someone can find a crime to charge Lutfi with in order to lock him away.
