We’ve only just discussed the day-long (not even that) engagement and marriage of Tara Reid and her Danish businessman boyfriend, and now here’s a celebrity marriage that finally happened after an extraordinarily (by some people’s standards) lengthy engagement period. After five years of being engaged (and two kids together), Brooke Burke and David Charvet have finally tied the knot. That seems like a long time, right? There are all sorts of celebrity couples who stay together without being engaged, but if you’re gonna bother to attach a prospective marital label to it, five years seems like a long time to wait. Not that I’m an expert on marriage by any stretch, of course.

According to Fame Pictures, the couple got hitched in St. Barths, France on a boat in a “small spontaneous ceremony.” Even though, you know, it couldn’t have been completely unplanned since the rings were present and accounted for already. After getting married, Brooke and David embarked upon their honeymoon, which is actually the same vacation that’s already taking place with their two children, 4-year-old daughter Heaven Rain and son Shaya Braven, plus Brooke’s three daughters from a previous marriage. Sounds romantic right? Maybe not.

Naturally, David and Brooke also gave exclusive news of their marriage to Life & Style as well:

Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke and former Baywatch star David Charvet said “I do” tonight in one of the most romantic ways possible: on a boat under the stars in St. Bart’s, Life & Style can exclusively reveal.

Joined by their children, the couple, both 39, made it official after being engaged for nearly five years. “We’re just at that place, where love is deep and meaningful, and we’re feeling very settled,” Brooke confided about their relationship last year.

After revving up their romance in 2005, the two became engaged in August 2006. “It was a total surprise,” Brooke has said about the night when David proposed to her. “It was all very romantic. He’s my best friend.”

This is the second marriage for Brooke, who was formerly married to Garth Fisher, the plastic surgeon on ABC’s Extreme Makeover. This is the first marriage for David. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Brooke and David are such an attractive couple, yes, and their kids are adorable too. Hopefully, they’ll make time for an actual one-on-one honeymoon in the near future instead of waiting another five years for the opportunity.

A couple of days ago, Radar Online posted video of Dancing with the Stars hostess Brooke Burke getting super pissy in a videotaped deposition regarding potentially stolen goods purchased by her and her boyfriend, David Charvet. We didn’t report it at the time because the story seemed somewhat vague to me and I wasn’t sure if there was interest in it. Brooke and David are being questioned as part of a civil lawsuit in which a high end appliances store is suing a former employee for stealing and fencing their inventory. These two bought about $70,000 worth of appliances for their new home from the employee, who instructed them to write out checks directly to her. They’re claiming they had no idea the goods were stolen, but they only paid about 1/2 the value on the items. The lawyer for the plaintiff insists tahat Charvet and Brooke knew exactly what was going on. Charvet’s brother-in-law is a friend of the accused employee’s boyfriend, who is said to have introduced Charvet to her. Here’s more from Radar, which has quotes from the plaintiff’s lawyer:

Brooke Burke’s live-in boyfriend –former Baywatch star David Charvet — knew he was buying stolen goods from a high-end design store, charges the attorney representing the victimized store.

The Dancing with the Stars host was deposed in a lawsuit brought by EuroConcepts versus Zalfa “Zee” Halaby, a former store employee.

RadarOnline.com broke the story Monday that Burke was heavily questioned about buying and receiving stolen merchandise. Her deposition is on video and you can see it here.

In a new exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, Sanford Passman, attorney for the plaintiffs in the civil suit, said he believes Charvet knew he was buying stolen goods.

“I absolutely believe that Charvet knew what was going on,” Passman told RadarOnline.com. “As for whether Brooke knew, who knows? She very well may have turned over all the financial dealings to David but my problem with that is that she went to EuroConcepts, she had Halaby into her house on more than one occasion.

“Maybe David was running the show but how she couldn’t have found out I find hard to believe.”

Burke and Charvet have two children together. Checks from one of Burke’s accounts were made out directly to Halaby instead of to the store in 2007. Halaby was also paid in cash. In her deposition Burke reveals that Charvet sometimes has the ability to authorize checks from her account and also strongly contends she had no idea that Halaby was allegedly cheating her employer.

In the civil complaint another person accused of purchasing stolen goods is Charvet’s brother-in-law Daniel Kessouss.

“Our position is that Halaby had this thing going on for some time and that she had a romantic relationship with one of the defendants, Naftali Amiel,” Passman told RadarOnline.com. “Amiel introduced David Charvet to Halaby and also knows another one of the defendants, Charvet’s brother in law, Daniel Kessous.

“I think it was one of those situations where one person told another person about the great deal they could get with this woman.”

According to Passman, there is also a related criminal case and he theorizes that he can get Halaby to tell all about who knew what.

“If the investigation continues, Halaby will most likely cop a plea deal on her criminal matter, she’ll lose her 5th amendment right and I will put her on the witness stand in the civil trial and she’ll spill her guts,” Passman told RadarOnline.com.

Passman says he tried twice to schedule a site inspection of Charvet’s Malibu home, (which he shares with Burke) but the couple continue to cancel.

He charges that they purchased an outdoor stainless steel gas BBQ, fridge, freezer, microwave and a six burner range from Halaby.

“We wanted to take pictures of the merchandise they had installed in their home so we could match it with the serial numbers of what they bought. But they keep canceling,” Passman told RadarOnline.com.

Burke and Charvet allegedly bought roughly $70,000 worth of appliances and, in the deal of a lifetime, only paid about half of that price. According to the complaint, Burke and Charvet paid Halaby directly for the merchandise with a check and in some cases, cash. EuroConcepts never saw a penny of the money.

“Our job now is to find out how deeply Brooke Burke and David Charvet are ensnared in this,” Passman said.

As far as celebrity scandals go, this one is relatively minor but it’s still interesting. Brooke was really annoyed in that deposition so I’m inclined to think she had no idea about this and is fed up with being blamed for it. If her boyfriend knew he could still face some legal charges. It seems suspicious that these two aren’t letting the lawyer get the serial numbers off the appliances they purchased. I used to see Brooke as this kind of sunny happy-go-lucky person but now that I’ve seen this deposition I’m getting the impression that her whole media persona is an act. This could do some minor damage to her reputation.

The finale of Dancing with the Stars last night

Model/actress Brooke Burke, was the winner on last night’s “Dancing With The Stars.” The 37 year-old mother of four put on consistently solid performances with her partner, Derek Hough, landing first in the rankings almost every week with the exception of last week. Brooke beat out former boy bander Lance Bass and retired football player Warren Sapp to bring home the disco ball trophy on the seventh season of the popular show:

After 10 weeks of competition, Brooke Burke and her partner Derek Hough are in seventh heaven after being crowned season seven’s Dancing champs on Tuesday’s two-hour finale.

The duo raised their hands in triumph and hugged one another when their names were announced by co-host Tom Bergeron. Asked by Bergeron how it felt to win, Burke exclaimed, “Unbelievable!”
With her win, Burke joins an elite group of female stars–season one’s Kelly Monaco and season six’s Kristi Yamaguchi–who have hoisted the mirror-ball trophy and helped narrow the gap between the number of men to women Dancing winners to 4:3.

Burke and Hough headed into Tuesday night’s show with a 58 out of 60 for their samba and perfect freestyle. They received another perfect score for their third and final dance, the Viennese waltz, keeping them on top of the leader board with a total of 88 out of 90. They also won the viewers’ votes, which accounted for 50% of their total score.

For a moment it looked like crowd-pleaser, NFL star Warren Sapp, and his partner Kym Johnson had a chance to pull off an upset after Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer finished third in the competition.
But it was not to be. Burke, who was praised by the judges all season for her technical precision and grace on the dancefloor, and Hough sealed the deal Monday with a freestyle dance that simply blew away the competition.

Jimmy Kimmel had Brooke and Derek on via satellite last night, and he showed a clip where Brooke’s fiance, David Charvet, started crying after she performed. Brooke said that he gave up a lot for her and that her family made a lot of sacrifices while she was training. Derek Hough also confirmed that he’s still dating his dance partner from last season, Shannon Elizabeth, and said she happened to be in the room at the time and was just off camera.

Congratulations to Brooke and Derek on a very successful season. It looks like all their hard work paid off.

Maxim magazine has released a list of the ‘Hottest Pregnant Women, Ever’. Which seems a big call as, in order for the species to continue, women have to keep on making babies. Rather adorably, my husband emailed me this list, saying I should be on it. This was very sweet, particularly since I spent my whole pregnancy with bloodshot eyes from vomiting. Although I do wonder why the Maxim webpage isn’t blocked, what is he doing at work looking at this?

Looking at the pictures, I’m guessing that most of these women spent their pregnancies with a personal stylist maintaining their sexiness, which is maybe how it should be for all pregnant women’s self esteem. Could we get some kind of government assistance for that?
