Robert Downey Jr. gropes his wife at ‘Iron Man 3′ premiere plus more pics

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Butt ruled the red carpet for the LA premiere of Iron Man 3 last night, but some people still tried to get attention. Like, for instance, the actual star of Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. RDJ walked the red carpet with his wife Susan Downey. And when I say “walked” I mean “he couldn’t keep his hands off of her.” Susan is so lucky.

There were other hot dudes at the premiere too, like Guy Pearce! I love Guy, but he’s looking pretty rough-and-tumble here.

Don(g) Cheadle, with his undercover assets.

Here’s Bella Thorne in Katie Ermilio Spring 2013. I don’t really know who she is, so this it only notable to me because OMG that dress is horrible.

Jamie Alexander in a really budget looking dress… but I think the color is probably “on trend” because I’ve been seeing shades of goldenrod everywhere lately.

Kat Dennings… everyone knows her for her boobs, so it’s kind of disappointing to see her covered-up, although I understand that she probably doesn’t want to just be “the girl with the huge rack.” Still, if she wanted to cover up, she could have found a cuter dress, right?

Rebecca Hall in Prada Fall 2013. Much better than her appearance at the UK premiere.

Guy Pearce vs Shia LaBeouf: who looked better at the ‘Lawless’ premiere?

I was hoping to turn this into a legit “Who would you rather?” post, but honestly, who the F is going to choose Shia LaBeouf? So, it’s going to be heavy on the Guy Pearce, which is fine because Guy is hot and we don’t spend enough time appreciating that. But… I’m still depressed that Tom Hardy didn’t make it to last night’s LA premiere of Lawless. Tom is still working on Mad Max, I guess, and didn’t feel like making the journey to LA. So Guy Pearce was left as the only hot dude standing at the premiere. I LOVE Guy’s frames. They’re similar to mine, but somehow better.

Are you still hungry for even a mention of Tom Hardy? Me too. In a recent interview, Guy was discussing Tom’s performance in Lawless, and this is what he had to say:

“It’s so brilliant that Tom Hardy is playing the role, because he is the most exciting actor I’ve seen in a long time… And he brings a weight, an integrity and a power to the screen that is incredibly compelling. The first scene that we had together was me feeling like I’m running rings around this man, not being intimidated by him. And that was very difficult, because he’s like a mountain, a mount emotionally and physically. I think that will translate on screen.”

[Via The Belfast Telegraph]

Yes, Tom Hardy is like a mountain. A big, beefy, hot, pillow-lipped mountain. And I want to climb that motherchucking mountain.

Here’s the recently-released Red-Band trailer for Lawless. At first I was like, “meh, I don’t get why this is Red-Band.” But then I saw the tittays! And there’s a lot of blood and violence too, so, you know, NSFW.

So, should I even talk about Shia? He looked like an ass at the premiere. There, we discussed it!

Shia LeBeouf & Tom Hardy in the ‘Lawless’ trailer: looks good or too serious?

Shia LeBeouf Tom Hardy Lawless

The new theatrical trailer for Lawless (formerly The Wettest County) has surfaced, and I can’t figure out if it’s worth getting excited over this prohibition drama or if it’s just misguided awards bait. Certainly, this is a prestige film if one considers that John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) is in the director’s seat. Further, the cast includes Tom Hardy and Shia LeBeouf — with the latter finally branching out from ridiculous robot movies (Transformers, obviously) and franchise reboots (Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) — as two of the Bondurant brothers, who are based upon the real-life trio that bootlegged moonshine and encountered much resistance from the hand of the law. The cast also boasts current awards-circuit favorites such as Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska as token love interests while Gary Oldman makes a menacing appearance as a gangster and Guy Pearce plays a lawman. Not too shabby, right?

Shia LeBeouf Tom Hardy Lawless

Here’s the film’s official synopsis with the trailer below:

Gangster meets Western in Lawless, the true story of the freewheelin’ Bondurant brothers, bootlegging siblings taking the law into their own hands. This is the story of the rural hard-men that created the big city gangsters. Brazen and fearless, these young rebel brothers helped build the American Dream in this exuberant tale of what was to become crime’s first major gold rush. The youngest brother, Jack(Shia LaBeouf), fancies himself the next Al Capone; he dreams of sharp suits, guns, girls and fast cars, no matter the cost.

Ambitious and impulsive, he takes the family’s small-scale moonshining operation to the big leagues, to impress the gorgeous but off-limits Amish girl, Bertha (Mia Wasikowska). The middle brother, Howard (Jason Clarke), is the brawling muscle — loyal but reckless — never one to turn down a taste of white lightning. And eldest brother, Forrest (Tom Hardy), reluctantly accepts the changing times with grace and grit, leading the family with strength of character and silent determination against the beginnings of corporate greed.

An enigmatic and stunning Maggie (Jessica Chastain) comes to town with a hidden past, igniting his passion and almost saving him in the process. As the Bondurants’ legend grows, so too does the danger, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences of their transgressions, or rewrite the myth and the law themselves.

[From Weinstein Co.]

Eh. I just can’t see Shia as a serious actor anymore after witnessing him shout “Optimus!” on a repeated basis. He’s going to have to earn some audience respect back, and maybe this movie will do that, but the trailer doesn’t quite do the job. As for the rest of the ensemble cast, they all seem to handle their roles well even though the trailer seems to push for momentum through an overbearing score and obvious title cards. Maybe this is another Weinstein disaster in the making, but I hope not. Such a largely wonderful cast would be a terrible thing to waste.

Kate Winslet in red Elie Saab: love it or lump it?

fp_7899225_rij_2011_emmys_s
Kate Winslet wore a very clingy red Elie Saab gown to last night’s Emmy Awards. The dress showcased those curves she’s constantly talking about, but she really worked it, in my opinion. She’s showing a hint of cleavage without hanging out, her hair and makeup are similarly understated but just right, and she accessorized with some gorgeous Cartier drop earrings and a two-tiered tennis bracelet. I know others will disagree, but I’m impressed with the dresses overall at the Emmys. There were plenty of simple, elegant non-fussy gowns in solid colors. Since I favor more conservative styles with clean lines most of them were just my style.

Kate won best actress for Mildred Pierce, with her costar Guy Pearce taking home the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor. I’ve seen both the original and the current HBO remake of Mildred Pierce, and while I enjoyed the miniseries I felt that they could have cut out about 1/3 of it, or nearly two hours, and not have lost much. It didn’t have the impact it could have. Maybe the pacing was consistent with the time period they were portraying. The scene where we finally get to see Evan Rachel Wood’s merkin was devastating though. I won’t reveal much in case any of you are waiting to see it, but that moment actually made me gasp out loud.

Kate thanked the cast and crew of “Mildred Pierce” during her speech. She said “This, really, I feel like had nothing to do with me – it was all you.” She also thanked her mother very graciously. “Mildred Pierce was capable of great acts of love as a mother, but she was also an extraordinary multi-tasker. To that end I actually do have to share this with my mum. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you do in your life, you never stop needing your mum, and I will never stop needing mine. So thanks mom.”

During his acceptance speech for outstanding supporting actor, Kate’s co-star Guy Pearce joked that it was awesome to get to have pretend sex with her so many times. “This was really a delightful experience making Mildred Pierce. I got to have sex with Kate Winslet many many times. And I didn’t realise it was going to result in this. So Kate I share this with you because you’re an extraordinary woman, thank you, for allowing me to insert myself into your world of Mildred. And to my wife, Kate, who had to listen to me talk about that every day when I came home from work. Thank you my darling and I’m sorry.”

The trailer for Katie Holmes’ horror movie actually isn’t terrible

dontbeafraid3

As much as we all chuckle at Katie Holmes as an actress, I have to give her credit for continuing to at least try despite all of her critical and commercial failures since she married Tom Cruise (and was supposed to become, you know, the next big thing). Instead, she’s made one very brief appearance on an episode of “Eli Stone,” botched the Jackie role in “The Kennedys,” and appeared in three movies — Mad Money, The Romantics, and The Extra Man — that have gone absolutely nowhere.

Now, Holmes has somehow landed a role in a Guillermo del Toro-produced film, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, which is a remake of the 1973 made-for-TV movie and also stars Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison. The premise involves a young girl who goes to live with her father and girlfriend in a house where menacing creatures appear with extreme smoker’s voices and try to claim her for themselves. Naturally, the film’s atmosphere is shrouded in a shadowy darkness, which is probably where a lot of the scares come from, but here’s the trailer, so you may judge for yourselves:

Meh. The trailer actually makes the film itself look sufficiently creepy, and many horror fans have already realized that there’s not much else coming out this summer in the genre, so I imagine that this movie will fare much better at the box office than most films starring Katie Holmes do. Still, Katie herself fares quite poorly at what should be a relatively easy role to pull off; but instead of looking scared, she just looks like her usual zombie self. I also laughed at her “frustrated” moment where she’s presumably trying to talk Guy Pearce into leaving the home because, as usual, her acting is ridiculous and unnatural looking. Poor Katie Holmes should stick to playing at being a fashion designer and then wearing her busted designs on the red carpet. She’s at least good at creating and wearing fug outfits for our amusement.

Kate Winslet in polka dots at the ‘Mildred Pierce’ premiere: cute or fug?

mildred_pearce_5_wenn3259713

I have to admit something – as a general rule, I hate polka dots on adult women. Put polka dots on a child, or even a tween, and I think it’s cute. But almost never on an adult woman. However, if you’re an adult woman and you’re going to do polka dots, you should do it like Kate Winslet at the premiere of Mildred Pierce. Kate is wearing Stella McCartney, and I don’t really hate it. I like the way the sheer polka-dotted fabric is cut with the black fabric, and I especially like how it curves around the bust. It’s surprising, and flattering.

mildred_pearce_2_wenn3259710

Also at the premiere, Kate’s costar/on-screen daughter Evan Rachel Wood. She’s in head-to-toe Elie Saab. I would have liked to see the dress with less matchy-matchy shoes. And I also think ERW dresses with slightly too much “theatricality” you know? I’ll give her this though – she’s not afraid of color, so good for her.

Melissa Leo was also at the premiere – bitch can’t dress. This is so unflattering on her, but despite that, it’s one of her better looks.

Guess who else is in the miniseries? Guy Pearce!! I love Guy so much. He’s so talented and pretty. He even did an interview where he was talking about how much he and Winslet loved working together – go here to read it. Guy Pearce for HGF?
