Britney did right by her dog, y’all

wenn1477133wm.jpg

In the midst of all the recent terrible reports of famous people having a variety of problems with dogs (fighting them, abusing them, them possibly mauling people) coupled with all the recent terrible reports of Britney Spears doing stupid, senseless, and thoughtless things, it’s good to see that the two terrible streaks haven’t joined together: the SPCA has ruled that Spears didn’t hurt her dog London, and was not responsible for the little puppy’s recently broken leg. In fact, she actually took care of it, got it proper medical attention immediately, and has been very cooperative with investigators. If only the same could be said for the way she treats her children.

“The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has exonerated Britney Spears of any supposed mistreatment of her pet Yorkshire terrier. The Los Angeles branch of the animal welfare organization was reportedly alerted last week that pop singer Britney Spears was not taking proper care of her pet Yorkshire terrier.

“‘Access Hollywood’ reported that SPCA received complaints from a number of people who maintained that they had seen the pup with a broken leg. Opinions differed though, with some saying the dog was wearing a cast and others saying it wasn’t. SPCA president Madeline Bernstein confirmed to People magazine that its employees attempted to contact Britney and verify the nature of the complaints. The organization contacted Britney’s veterinarian. He confirmed that London, the terrier, had suffered a mild fracture when someone accidentally stepped on the dog as it made its way into one of Brit’s closets. The veterinarian proved that London had received proper care.

“The SPCA released a statement Monday, confirming the well-being and safety of London. The organization said it ‘has received written confirmation from a veterinarian that Britney Spears’s dog London has received proper medical attention for a leg injury. SPCA LA would like to thank Ms. Spears for her cooperation on this matter as well as members of the public for their ongoing concern for the welfare of animals,” the group said in its statement.”

I don’t really like purse dogs, but that terrier is really cute. It’s a shame it will have to live the rest of its life in mortal fear of being stepped on by a drunken blond (or baldie, as the case may be) but at least it can rest easy knowing that it will get medical care, and probably won’t have coffee/juice/soda/alcohol poured into its water dish. Probably. I’m a huge animal lover, so I say this not to offend or belittle their importance, but it really does bother me that Britney can do right by her dog but not by her kids. I can’t wait until Sean Preston and Jayden James can start talking back and giving her some shit. Those two are the result of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline coupling. You know they’re going to have some trashy mouths on them.

Will Beckham play tonight or on Sunday? Tom Brady to join him in photo op.

David Beckham has been benched for 8 weeks since he sprained his left ankle on June 6 in a qualifier match for the European championship between England’s national team and Estonia. He’s hardly earning his $250 million paycheck from L.A. Galaxy. He’s definitely boosted ticket sales, but if he continues to be sidelined than revenue is likely to suffer.

Sunday’s match at Boston’s Gillette stadium between L.A. Galaxy and New England Revolution is sold out, as is tonight’s soccer match in RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. against D.C. United. A lot of that is due to Beckham’s celebrity draw, which is rather unique in the sport of soccer.

In a press conference yesterday in Washington DC, Beckham said he wouldn’t start in tonight’s game, but that “hopefully, I’ll play some part of it.”

Boston fans are also hopeful that Beckham will strut his golden stuff at their match in three days, but it’s likely to only be for a short time.

Beckham trained for the first time with LA Galaxy just yesterday at RFK stadium in Washington DC. He was said to have only participated in “light training” and his ankle is still giving him trouble.

The manager of the England national football team, Steve McClaren, is set to visit Beckham in the states today, but Beckham doesn’t think that he’ll get to see him play that much. He thinks he’ll be good for about ten minutes play, and that he “can’t really apologise for being injured.”

But Beckham said that if McClaren was hoping to watch him play against DC United, he would see only him coming off the bench for a few minutes at best. The midfielder is struggling with an ankle injury that threatens to prevent him from playing in England’s Aug 22 friendly against Germany…

“I spoke to Steve a couple of days ago,” Beckham said. “We spoke about how my fitness was and how my ankle was. But whether it’s worth him coming over to see me for just 10 minutes I’m not so sure.”

Beckham took part in light training with his team-mates at the RFK Stadium yesterday – the first time he has practised along with the rest of the team since joining the club – but his ankle injury continues to bother him.

“He did train,” a Galaxy spokesman said. “He’s still doubtful for the game.”

DC United have sold all 45,000 tickets for a game that will be nationally televised.

Beckham, 32, added: “It’s an injury that everyone knew about when I first arrived. There will obviously be people who don’t understand, but I can’t really apologise for being injured, it’s a way of life for a sportsman. I’m hoping to spend some time on the field but that’s not definite yet.”

And rumor has it that the New England Revolution and the New England Patriots are setting up a hunky sports star pregame photo opportunity featuring David Beckham and new soon-to-be dad and fellow sports celebrity Tom Brady. Beckham has got to earn that quarter of a billion somehow. [Details from Boston Herald]

Jared Leto sustains broken nose, overinflated ego still intact

Blogger abuser and moody rocker Jared Leto broke his nose when fans rushed him at a concert in El Paso, Texas. He went on with the show, but got checked out by a doctor afterwards. Leto sustained other minor injuries to his face and body:

True chaos ensued Thursday at the Taste of Chaos tour stop in El Paso, Texas, resulting in 30 Seconds to Mars singer Jared Leto sustaining a broken nose and other injuries.

According to a spokesperson for the band’s record label, Leto was injured when he ran into the crowd during “The Kill” and thousands of fans overpowered security and rushed toward him on the floor of County Coliseum.

Along with his nose, which was unintentionally broken, Leto suffered a foot injury and superficial injuries to his face and body.

Leto finished the show and even declared it one of the best of the tour, but eventually checked into a hospital to ensure that none of his injuries would require surgery. 30 Seconds to Mars are scheduled to perform Friday (March 2) in Dallas.

No fans were reportedly injured.

It looks like someone reads Best Week Ever and jumped on the opportunity to punch Jared Leto in the face when it presented itself. There are many stories of this guy generally acting like an asshole and threatening people. He also really hates blogs because they point out how shitty his music is and occasionally pay attention to all the arrogant abuse he heaps on others.
