Kourtney and Kim Kardashian were on the Today Show yesterday to promote their upcoming reality show, Kourtney and Kim Take NY. It looked at times like Kim was totally over Kourtney, and like she resented it when Kathie Lee and Hoda were asking Kourteney questions instead of focusing on her. If Kim’s face was capable of conveying normal human emotions I would say that I saw flashes of contempt. (Around 3:10 in)

As is typical for this family, they shared a faux embarassing personal story about how Kourtney’s boobs were leaking while she was on the plane away from her son, Mason, who turned one on December 19. Kim clearly does not approve that Kourtney is still nursing her son, or maybe her last restylane injections just settled wrong. Kourteney said she wasn’t sure she was ready to stop breastfeeding, and Kathie Lee told her how to help dry out her boobs using cabbage and bandages. Kathie Lee explained that she had to do this for a hosting gig at the Miss America pageant six weeks after her daughter Cassidy was born.

I had a similar issue when I was nursing and just used really hot washcloths. It can be dangerous if you get a clogged duct and it needs to be treated right away.

Getting back to these twits, I’ve only seen clips of their various shows and have no desire to start watching now. I can be convinced, though, because I know what a sheer pleasure it is to watch other reality shows like the RHOBH. Judging from the stunts these two pull I’m guessing that the Kardashian shows are more about creating faux drama and scripted plotlines and less about natural catfights and bitchiness. Although I would guess that Kim can bring the nasty if any of her sisters are getting more attention than she is.

Today Show host Kathie Lee Gifford had to endure her own very public bout with marital infidelity years ago, and now has a few words of wisdom to share with estranged couple Jon and Kate Gosselin, stars of “Jon and Kate Plus 8.” She thinks their reality show should take a back seat, so the couple can take time to work on their family life.

Kathie Lee Gifford — whose own marriage was put to the test when her husband Frank had a 1997 fling with a flight attendant — has a message for embattled reality star Kate Gosselin.

“I would turn off the cameras if I were them and just work on healing together as a family,” Gifford told Usmagazine.com Monday at a spring gala for the American Theatre Wing in NYC. “Who knows the long-term damage something like this could do? I understand they are making a living, but you have to wonder at what price.”

Jon has apologized for his “actions” with 23-year-old school teacher Deanna Hummell; Kate has even gone as far as saying she and Jon may divorce. Their troubles continued last week when the Pennsylvania labor department confirmed it is investigating whether the couple’s TLC show is complying with the state’s child labor laws.

Despite her concerns for the family, Gifford said she hasn’t been keeping up with all the Gosselin’s day-to-day drama.

“I have to say no,” she told Us. “Frank and I are probably the only two people in America avoiding that show. We are not reality fans and prefer to live reality. We sure don’t want cameras following us around and picking on us!”

Way to comment on a show you’ve never even seen, there, Kathie Lee. Sometimes I wonder if she even thinks about the words that come out of her mouth. Kristen Wiig from Saturday Night Live does a dead-on impersonation of Kathie Lee – if you haven’t seen it yet, you must check it out! Gifford, who used to talk incessantly about her husband and two children while co-hosting “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,” certainly learned her lesson about flaunting her “happy” marriage on the air. But that situation really doesn’t compare. First of all, it’s never appeared that Jon and Kate have had a happy marriage- since day one of their reality show. I really believe Jon and Kate Gosselin – or, at the very least, Jon – have been miserable for a long time, and it’s to the point where neither of them cares to hide it for the cameras anymore. But you know, Kathie Lee, crazy as she is, does raise a question. It looks like Jon and Kate are heading for divorce. Do we really need to see this play out on TV – and more importantly, do their children? At what point will these adults decide to put the emotional and psychological needs of their children first?

Kathie Lee Gifford is rumored to be joining “The Today Show” for a hosting stint for its fourth hour. The perky 54 year-old host with a diva reputation left the then “Live with Regis & Kathie Lee” show after 15 years in July 2000 and has been concentrating on her singing career and doing charity work. Since leaving “Live,” she’s done occasional TV and guest appearances, and worked as a correspondent for “The Insider” in 2005.

It’s pretty obvious that Kathie Lee has had more than a few visits to her plastic surgeon’s office. Her face looks way too smooth and pulled and she’s starting to look like Priscilla Presley. Kathie Lee lives in New York so she probably wasn’t a victim of that Argentinian quack who was injecting Hollywood’s elite with car fluid, but she must be going to someone who’s willing to do excessive work on her.

There is an alternative to the two extremes of too much plastic surgery and aging naturally. My mother had a face lift about five years ago and she let it settle. At first it was obvious but within a few months it looked natural on her and it’s not as easy to tell. She looks better than she did before and it’s not glaringly obvious that she’s had work done.

It looks to me like Gifford had more than one face lift along with ongoing maintenance that results in a mask-like effect on her face.

I had trouble finding any photos of Kathie Lee “before,” because she looked about the same and must have had a face lift years ago. In the 2003 image in the header above, you can tell she’s had something done but she doesn’t look freaky.

In a 2000 interview with Larry King, Kathie Lee didn’t exactly deny having plastic surgery, but said she wasn’t going to get “more” and skirted around the issue by saying she was afraid of it. It seems like she got over that quickly.

KING: The story was that you wanted to [get plastic surgery] and [your husband Frank] didn’t want you to.

GIFFORD: But I wanted more. Last year, it was that I was leaving the show or something like that because I was going to have a million dollars worth of plastic surgery. Now, that hurt, you know. Do I need a million dollars worth?

KING: So you’ve never had and you don’t intend to have it.

GIFFORD: I don’t intend to do it.

KING: But you would have if you felt you needed to?

GIFFORD: You know what, yes, I probably would. You know what, just to feel — I probably would. But I haven’t done, you know, anything that I’m ashamed of, and I’m certainly not going to be ashamed of it if I have it down.
