Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong photographed leaving hotel together

After all the stories about their many dates and public makeout sessions at Cannes, Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have been photographed together. They were seen wearing sunglasses and warm clothing as they left their hotel in Monaco yesterday. D-Listed reports that they’re there for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. They were seen boarding a speed boat with other passengers. Lance put his arm protectively around Kate in the boat, which was open on the sides. They laughed as waves hit the boat and looked like they were having a great time.

OK! Magazine reports that at that Dolce & Gabbana party in which Kate and Lance kissed and danced, Kate was also spotted washing Lance’s shirt in the bathroom.

I wish them well and hope that it works out for them, as I mentioned yesterday. Armstrong doesn’t seem like the best boyfriend material, but he could be smitten with Kate and maybe he’ll stick around. It would be nice not to know everything that’s going on with them, but if they go to high profile parties it’s kind of inevitable that we’ll hear about them. Whether that’s deliberate on their part or not remains to be seen.

Thanks to Splash for these photos from yesterday.

Lanc Armstrong and Kate Hudson’s PDA at Cannes

In case you were on the edge of your couch wondering if Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong’s rumored romance was still going strong, you can rest assured that they made out at a party at Cannes and all is well in their new relationship:

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong only had eyes for each other at Dolce & Gabbana’s annual party in Cannes Friday.

The pair kissed and danced to old Madonna songs and other ’80s favorites. “They were beaming at each other,” a source tells PEOPLE. “So cute.”

In a VIP room so packed that Petra Nemcova couldn’t get in, Hudson and Armstrong chatted briefly with Cannes juror Natalie Portman, who was holding hands with her folk-rocker beau Devendra Banhart. (Unlike all the other female celebrity guests, Portman wore Chanel because she decided to come to the party at the last minute.)

[From People.com]

Part of me thinks “Oh, please” when I hear about these two making out at a party, but I really like Kate Hudson and I hope this works out for her. Lance Armstrong has a reputation as a cad lately, but maybe they’re both trying to find the right person after their respective divorces. They’ve each have had long term relationships in the past and this could be something that lasts for them. Or it could end badly like each of their other recent flings. It could go either way.

Kate Hudson is shown arriving at the Dolce & Gabbana party at Cannes on Friday night, thanks to Splash News. That could be Lance off camera but it’s hard to tell. Lance Armstrong is shown visiting “Nevada Cancer Institute to raise awareness for the fight against cancer” on 5/14/08, thanks to WENN.

Hollywood goes to Washington: Sheryl Crow, Michael Douglas & more

Several celebrities have visited Capital Hill in the past two weeks to testify and represent causes. In many cases the celebrities went through tragedy and adversity and became committed and knowledgeable about issues that personally affected them. In other cases they became involved with specific causes they feel passionate about. Either way, they’re bringing attention to important issues and making a difference. I’d rather see a celebrity testifying in front of a committee than shopping, eating out, or worse getting a DUI, but unfortunately the latter get a lot more attention.

5/21/08: Breast cancer survivor Sheryl Crow testifies in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s health subcommittee to support a bill funding breast cancer research. Crow emphasized that she has no family history of breast cancer, and said “I want to know what causes this disease. We need to put more resources into figuring out what the environment has to do with breast cancer.” [Paraphrased from Houston Chronicle. You can view Crow's testimony as a Real Media file thanks to C-Span.org]

5/21/08: Michael Douglas meets with Indiana Senator Richard Lugar at The Capitol to urge him to prevent the spread and use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons as a director of the Ploughshares Fund organization [Description verbatim from WENN]

5/20/08: United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) goodwill ambassador Geri Halliwell and Care ambassador Christy Turlington hold a rally and press conference with congresswomen and fistula survivors. They urged support of a new bill promoting maternal health throughout the world. [Details paraphrased from Baltimore Sun]

5/14/08: Ed Norton testifies in front of the The House Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming. He is a trustee of Enterprise Community Partners, which was founded by his grandfather and builds affordable homes using green building practices for low income families. He said “The legacy of my generation is going to hinge on how we respond to these revelations that we’re not living sustainably, and that we’re altering the environment.” [Quote and details paraphrased from Peopletreefilms. Video is available on Globalwarming.house.gov - scroll to the last video in the list]

5/14/08: Dennis Quaid testifies in front of the House Reform and Government Oversight Committee urging Congress not to support a measure by the drug companies that would make them immune from lawsuits. He is suing company Baxter Healthcare Corp after a known second preventable mixup in which his newborn twins almost died after being given 1,000 times the dosage of Heparin, a blood thinner. Batches of Heparin have since been recalled for an unrelated incident in which the drug became tainted at a manufacturing plant in China, resulting in 19 known deaths. Dennis Quaid’s twins are healthy at five and a half months old, and are not thought to suffer lasting effects from the near-fatal overdose. [Details paraphrased from MSNBC. Quaid's testimony is available on House.gov as a PDF file and the video is available as a Real Media file from C-span.org]

5/8/08: Cancer survivor, founder of a cancer advocacy nonprofit organization, and seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong, testifies in front of The Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Cancer: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century. [From Senate.gov, where there's also a video of Lance's testimony]

Thanks to WENN for these photos.

Kate Hudson already dating Lance Armstrong

It seems like dating Lance Armstrong is a rite of passage for Owen Wilson’s ex-girlfriends. Kate Hudson is now dating Owen’s good friend Lance… just like Wilson’s other ex-girlfriend Sheryl Crow. Apparently the pair have been dating for about three weeks – nearly immediately after Hudson and Wilson’s split. She originally met Lance through Owen. Let’s hope these two are such good friends that they don’t mind when one dates the other’s exes.

They both have reputations as heartbreakers. Now glamorous blonde actress Kate Hudson has embarked on a passionate affair with seven-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. The news will be wearily familiar for film star Owen Wilson, Miss Hudson’s ex-boyfriend. He had previously had a three-year romance with singer Sheryl Crow – only to see Armstrong move in after they split and get engaged to the pop star. Armstrong, 36, may have a tough time explaining himself to Wilson – the fellow Texans are, or were, close friends. On Friday, Miss Hudson, the daughter of Goldie Hawn, flew to join new boyfriend Lance at his home in Austin, Texas, for a romantic weekend together.

A source said: “Kate and Lance have been dating for a couple of weeks. She thought it was funny when people were writing recently that she was engaged to Owen because the reality was that they had split again and she was secretly seeing Lance.

“She and Lance are both physical, passionate people – she’s never been happier.” Miss Hudson started dating Armstrong after sparks flew at a private New York dinner party. The source said: “They have known each other for a while and Lance is one of Owen’s good friends. “When Kate was with Owen, she got to know Lance really well but they hooked up again recently at a dinner party thrown by a mutual friend and that’s when the romance began. They have both been keeping it very quiet.”

[From the Daily Mail]

By all accounts Wilson and Hudson’s second split was not a friendly one at all. Supposedly there was a lot of shouting, and they are no longer on speaking terms. That makes you wonder what must be going on between supposed good friends Owen and Lance. If I had a bitter breakup with someone, and then my good friend started dating that person, I’d be pretty damn pissed. You’d think Lance would have a little more class than that… especially the second time around.

Sheryl Crow says Jennifer Aniston dumped Brad

It seems like the Team Aniston/Team Jolie loonies aren’t the only ones who just can’t let this story go.

Sheryl Crow, who became chums with Jennifer Aniston during her battle with breast cancer, recently mouthed off about Jennifer’s three-year-old split from Brad Pitt. Sheryl was comparing the media coverage in that breakup to the coverage of her own split from bicyclist Lance Armstrong. She claims that both she and Aniston dumped their men, but the media says it was the other way around.

Sheryl Crow has claimed that Jennifer Aniston dumped Brad Pitt rather than the other way around.

The couple split in 2005 after five years of marriage amid rumours that Pitt had fallen for Angelina Jolie on the set of their movie Mr and Mrs Smith.

However, Crow said she learned the truth when she became friends with Aniston after the actress ditched Pitt and she split from cyclist Lance Armstrong.

She said: “For both of us, the perceived idea is that, in our big relationships, we both got dumped. Believe me, this is not true. Neither one of us has ever gotten dumped. No one ever knows what goes on in relationships.

“Unfortunately, for some people like Jennifer and me, so much is written about things that you don’t say, and so many emotions are attributed to you that you haven’t had.”

A friend also insisted that Aniston had called time on the marriage, telling the National Enquirer: “Once Jen saw the writing on the wall, she dumped Brad.

“She took a cold, hard look at her marriage and realised it was irretrievably broken. She and Brad had vastly different personal agendas and feelings about love, career and having a family.”

From Showbizspy UK]

Does anyone really care about Lance and Sheryl or Brad and Jen anymore? I mean, really care? It seems to me that in the Brad-Angie-Jennifer triangle, those three individuals are more than over it and moved on years ago. As for Lance and Sheryl, I never gave a crap about them in the first place. Both of them are boring as hell, so together, they were twice as boring. Who cares who dumped whom? My guess is, Sheryl was looking for some free publicity to promote her boring new CD and she knows that there’s no faster way to get attention than to bring up the Pitt-Aniston divorce.

Picture note by JayBird: Here’s Sheryl Crow taking her son Wyatt on a shopping trip in West Hollywood yesterday. Images thanks to WENN.

Lance Armstrong owes up to getting in bouncer’s face

lance1.jpg
When I first saw the headline for this story on The Huffington Post, which reads “Lance Armstrong Throws A Hissy Fit At Texas Bar,” I assumed it was a clearcut case of a celebrity acting like an ass and thinking that the world should bend over backwards for them. Other examples of celebrities getting shot down when they demanded special treatment at drinking establishments include Sienna Miller’s “Don’t You Know Who I Am?” shriek in Pittsburgh when she was denied for lack of ID, and Woody Harrelson’s drunken bloody fight with two bouncers after he was told not to leave with wineglasses in hand.

The story is that Armstrong was sternly told by the bouncer at a sold-out Austin show at a bar not to leave with a drink. He then got all up in the bouncer’s face with the old “I’ll have you fired” line. In this version of events, Armstrong comes off as an asshole with a sense of entitlement, but at least he wasn’t physically abusive.

Backstage door man Sean Higgins, obviously not concerned with the celebrity of the person who was breaking the law, quickly ran over to Armstrong and his pal and rather forcefully made it clear that the guys could not walk off with drinks. Armstrong at first seemed surprised and briefly cordial, but that soon gave way to fierce indignation. Having taken the drinks from Armstrong and friend, Higgins returned to his post at the door. But, possibly due to being called out in front of a few dozen people, Armstrong, apparently having taken exception to the manner in which Higgins was performing his job, would not go quietly into that good night.

He returned to the door, full of sound and fury. Higgins, who has worked at the Backstage Bar for four-and-a-half years, made it quite clear that he had no interest in Armstrong’s celebrity or defense of his actions. Armstrong, not willing to drop the issue, flailingly tried to retake whatever sense of pride he apparently felt was taken from him, by berating Higgins while his friends stood at his side. With a finger that came inches from Higgins’ face, Armstrong, according to Higgins, let loose a series of threats that concluded with the time-worn threat of “You’ll never work at this bar again.” Higgins, who apparently didn’t get the memo that nobody puts Lance in the corner, scoffed at the irate Armstrong, who then left to a series of under-breath cat calls and one patron labeling Armstrong as overrated (the cleanest of the insults softly launched his way.) Bizarre end to an excellent night. I’m sure Higgins is on Career Builder as I type. (Not really.)

[From Austin360.com]

It sounds like Armstrong was provoked but that he didn’t handle it well. What he did handle with grace was a follow-up statement. Armstrong called the author of the original blog article on Austin 360, which is the Entertainment section of Austin newspaper The Austin American Statesman, and owed up to the incident and apologized. He also gave his side of the story, saying he was manhandled but that he overreacted. He could have had his publicist fax in a statement to US Weekly, but he personally called the author and it comes off as much more sincere:

“Listen, I was totally out of line,” Armstrong said.

Although Armstrong says he was in the wrong, he felt that the door man in question could have handled the situation better, as well. “You know, give us a warning. He walked over and nearly tackled us as if he had warned us four or five times. He was so aggressive without any warning. Believe me, man, if somebody says, ‘You can not take these beers out of here,’ I’ll just throw them away or go back inside. I’ve got no problem with that. I wasn’t looking for any special rules or treatment.”

Armstrong confessed that despite feeling he wasn’t given any warning before being confronted, he should have responded differently. “I don’t need to do that (respond the way he did), though. Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

[From Austin360.com]

The Huffington Post didn’t link directly to the source, they linked to another reporting site, Austinist, which has not yet updated with Armstrong’s statement of contrition, so it’s likely that this story might get picked up by other outlets and reported with only one side. It was a minor incident at a crowded bar with an overzealous bouncer, but since a celebrity is involved it’s big news. At least Armstrong responded well afterwards and it never came to blows.

Armstrong is shown below running the 2007 NY Marathon, which he finished in under three hours. It was his second marathon after running the same course in 2006, and he finished 13 minutes faster after a lot of training. 36 year-old Armstrong is arguably the worlds most celebrated cyclist, having won the Tour De France seven years in a row, from 1999 to 2005. He has repeatedly been accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, but only tested positive once in 1999 for traces of corticosteroids. He had a medical certificate showing that he used a topical steroid cream that was authorized to treat saddle sores.

Armstrong is now retired from cycling and trained for the marathon in order to keep up his physical condition. He called the 2006 marathon “the hardest physical thing I have ever done.” He is a cancer survivor after undergoing successful treatment for testicular cancer in 1996, and went on to found the Lance Armstrong Foundation to benefit cancer patients.

Armstrong is shown in the header at Stand Up For Skateparks on 10/7/07. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.

Lance Armstrong got stood up by Ashley Olsen, now he says they’re “just friends”

ashleylanceover.jpg
Today’s NY Post quotes Lance Armstrong as insisting that he and Ashley Olsen are “just friends” and are not having a May-December romance. He says that despite reports that they were all over each other in public, those were group dates and we shouldn’t read anything into it:

“Ashley Olsen and I are strictly friends,” the world-renowned athlete told us. “We have hung out amongst other friends, and she strikes me as a nice, smart lady.”

[From The NY Post]

I love how he calls her a “lady,” as if he’s trying to attribute maturity beyond her years to the 21-year-old Ashley.

Lance might be telling the truth and he might be “just friends” with Ashley. It’s possible their all-too-public fling is over at this point. Tabloids were reporting that 36 year-old Lance’s friends were giving him grief for dating young Ashley, and this week’s OK! Magazine says that Ashley stood him up on Halloween.

The pair [Ashley and Lance] was spotted getting cozy in NYC, and on Oct. 29, Ashley, 21, and Lance, 36, enjoyed each other’s company at the Rose Bar inside the Gramercy Hotel. Though they rendezvoused again at the Waverly Inn days later, Ashley might be already scared off. They were supposed to meet up at hot spot The Box on Halloween, but, a source tells OK!, “Ashley didn’t show up and left Lance there waiting.”

[From OK! Magazine, print edition, November 19, 2007]

So now Lance is denying that he has anything going on with Ashley, and it’s probably true since it looks like he got dumped.

Ashley Olsen and Lance Armstrong make out at a club

ashleycostume1.jpg
Ashley Olsen with designer Marc Jacobs
Technically Ashley Olsen has been legal for a while. She turned 21 this summer, and if she had stayed in college instead of realizing that she was richer than sin and could have all the fun without the commitment of having to prove she learned stuff, she might be graduating now. I shudder to think of the crap I was up to at 21, but I’m married now with a toddler, and being in that situation makes you get nostalgic about near-constant hangovers punctuated by exams and random hookups. That was a long time ago for me, though, and I will probably never relive the chaos and stupidity of those years. Getting wasted and neglecting all responsibility does seem deceptively attractive compared to raising a three year old who screams his head off at the sight of bathwater. Maybe that’s what Whitney Bears is going through now.

Like Whitney, not everyone is willing to undertake the responsibilities that go along with the phase of life they’re supposed to be in. Hooking up with a hot young thing is often a way of reliving a youth that wasn’t that great the first time. Lance Armstrong is older than me at 36, but he still seems too old for Ashley Olsen. As a fit guy under 40, he’s not creepy-old for a 21 year-old, just in-denial old.

Both the NY Post and The Daily News are reporting that Lance and Ashley were all over each at a bar. This doesn’t make me go “ewww” so much as say “why?”

ODD couple alert: Ashley Olsen has a new, older man. The 21-year-old twin showed up to the Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel Monday night with Tory Burch’s ex, Lance Armstrong, 36. Our bar spy said, “They came together with a group of friends. Ashley drank red wine, sat on his lap and they were making out all night. They left together around 2 a.m.” Armstrong has been spending more time in town since he bought a home here. Another source said, “He tried to make Tory happy when they were dating by buying a place here, but she couldn’t deal with him not actually living in the same city, so they broke up.” Olsen’s rep didn’t return calls.

[From Page Six]

Lance was most recently dating some woman I’ve never heard of, fashion designer Tory Burch, who has an amazing six children and looks more Lance’s age and speed. He was also with singer Sheryl Crow for over two years following his divorce from the mother of his three children in September, 2003.

Ashley had a 30 year-old long-term boyfriend, Scott Sartiano, until recently, who was already too old for her.

Despite the questionable nature of this new relationship, I’m really glad to see this story today. I was looking for an excuse to publish these excellent pictures of Ashley Olsen’s Halloween costume. So go ahead and make out with guys who are nearly old enough to be your daddy, Ashley. As long as you can come up with inventive and non-slutty costumes like this, you get a pass.

Matthew McConaughey to release men’s workout and lifestyle DVD

The Sun claims that Matthew McConaughey has a good reason to work out constantly - he’s planning to release a men’s fitness and lifestyle DVD and will ask his friend Lance Armstrong to help him out:

Gym Matt is in training to make a workout video for fellas — and he has called in some big gun celebrity pals to help.

For the past three months, I don’t think a day has gone by without a picture of Matt toning his pecs landing into my mailbox.

I thought it was the pressure of keeping in shape in Hollywood which was pushing him to pump so much iron.

But it is more than just an obsession and he has been busy preparing for his new job as a DVD fitness instructor.

Matthew has persuaded his pal, cycling legend LANCE ARMSTRONG, to join him for the shoot.

My source in the States tells me: “Matt wants to create a lifestyle and fitness video for men.

“It will be centred on how to get a killer surfer’s body.

“That’s why he has been working out so much. He couldn’t produce a video giving you promises of an amazing physique if he looked podgy and untoned himself.

“It won’t be a straight workout video but it will advise people on how to enjoy a healthy life everyday — and get a buff body. Lance is the first of Matt’s celebrity pals he is interviewing for the video to get his hot tips.

“But he is hoping a couple more will get involved to help sell it.”

This could be true, but I wouldn’t be surprised it was completely made up and there is no source at all. I would pay for this DVD dearly, though, just to um, be able to review it for you guys.

Hopefully Matt grew the nasty unkempt beard in order to make his planned fitness DVD reveal have more of an impact. He’s distracting from his hot body with this mountain man look, and maybe he planned it that way.

Matt was photographed with an uncharacteristic paunch at his fourth of July party this year. He also seemed drunk and out of it in pictures that came out of him partying in Costa Rica earlier in the summer. It took him no time at all to shake that little bit of belly and he seems to have spent his entire summer doing sweaty sports with his guy pals.

Hey that could explain why he’s been brushing his teeth in public too - he wants to focus on men’s grooming and personal care as well as how to get a hot body. That or he just had wicked cotton mouth.

Here are pictures of Matt working out. Thanks to I’m Not Obsessed for posting them, and x17 and SplashNews for taking them.

Lance Armstrong was Matt’s sugar daddy

E! Online’s Ted Casablanca claimed in his column yesterday thatLance Armstrong is Matthew McConaughey’s sugar daddy and that he paid all the bills for their expensive Miami vacation. People and “Entertainment Tonight” were said to have been tipped off that the pair was in Miami and told to cover it like they were two buddies hanging out.

Lance is supposedly fed up with Matt’s spending at this point and that may have led Matt back into the arms of Jake Gyllenhaal.

Unless you spend like ten minutes trying to interpret his prose and thinking about what he’s trying to say, it’s really hard to figure it out. So I’ve cut a lot of it out and removed the ten stupid nicknames he used for the same people:

Lance Armstrong is helping Matthew McConaughey with his spending ways. Gosh, do we got a little sugar-dazzle [sugar daddy] sitch a’brewin’?

Know all the beach-hopping, fancy-hotel-staying frolicking [Matt and Lance have] been up to as of late? Well, guess who’s been paying for it all, so say those who see the bills? [Lance Armstrong]

Yep, that’s right: Mr. Armstrong is now footing further high-priced playtime charges, so I’m told by excellent sources.

Interesting. Particularly since [Lance and Matt's] latest stay at the Shore Club, for ince, included a private pool for them both this time round. Hideously expensive, trust moi. Wonder why all the need for seclusion?

I mean, hasn’t Mance become the new buddy-buddy poster set for rugged, outdoor, sweaty machismo–fun for all to enjoy–via paid-and-tipped-off outlets such as ET and People (the publicist’s one-stop-shopping suck-sources for arranging pre-written “exclusives”)?). [sic]

Lance, I’m also whispered to, likes his “booze” and was described by someone who partied around during a recent Matt-Lance hotel stay as being “weird…as if in a trance.”

Of course he is! He’s starting to see that pal Matthew wants as much attention/luxuries/headlines as ex Sheryl did! Any idiot with a tabloid next to his or her john could answer that one. I mean, really.

Salty P.S.: Oh, that crusty Cristina of mine–remember how she reported, all youthful bravado ‘n’ innuendo, that Lance was out partying in Hell-Ay without [Matt] and how she wondered if, perhaps, [Lance] was not tiring of footing bills for [Matt]? Well, Matt had a good reason for not being out ‘n’ about with his BFF [Lance]: He was bod-surfing in Cape Cod. Right near Jake Gyllenhaal!

[via]

Why doesn’t someone edit this man’s “awful” writing? Regardless that’s a juicy scoop if you can clean off all the syrup he’s poured over it.

It’s not news that Matt and Lance are said to be more than just sweaty workout buddies, but it is news that one of them paid for the whole vacation and that they had a private pool. It was probably just for all the hot women they brought back to the bungalow.
