PETA slams Jessica Simpson for thinking about getting a pet pig
Jessica Simpson Brings Her Dad An Autographed B-day Present!

This story was hanging around yesterday, but CB asked me to cover it today. Apparently, Jessica Simpson tweeted that she was thinking about getting a pet pig. Her beloved dog Daisy was eaten by coyotes last September, and since then, people have been encouraging Jessica to get another puppy to love. However, it looks like Jessica’s heart can’t open to another dog quite yet, thus, fantasies of adopting a piglet (side note: the “adopting a piglet” story line was used with great effect on Bones a few weeks ago). Also note this: Jessica didn’t say that she was for sure going to adopt a pig, just that she was thinking about it. Well, PETA Thought Police just had to chime in with their thoughts about pigs-as-pets.

After the death of her pet pooch, Daisy, five months ago, Jessica Simpson is ready to get another companion.

“I’m thinking about getting a pet pig,” she wrote on Twitter Monday. “Does this mean I’ll have to give up pork?”

The 29-year-old singer has been trying to get over the bizarre and tragic death of Daisy (a gift from ex-husband Nick Lachey), who was snatched from her L.A. backyard by a wild coyote in September.

“I haven’t really thought about another dog yet, but maybe sometime,” Simpson told UsMagazine.com a month after the incident. “Daisy meant the world to me.”

But not everyone is thrilled that Simpson wants a barnyard baby.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sounded off on the singer, telling the mag, “Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don’t belong in Jessica’s stomach or carted around as her latest accessory.”

Simpson isn’t the first Hollywood trendsetter to want a little piggy: heiress Paris Hilton adopted a teacup piglet last fall that reportedly cost $4,500, while David and Victoria Beckham are said to have spent over $2,000 on their own pair of designer swine.

[From NYDN]

Eh. I don’t really think it’s fair to adopt a pig (or a dog, for that matter) if you don’t have the physical space to make them comfortable. But Jessica’s house and yard are huge, right? I think she would probably love a pet pig and treat it well. Pigs are very intelligent animals, perhaps even smarter than Jessica, who is as dumb as a box of hair. I feel for Jessica that she can’t even wonder aloud about pig ownership without PETA climbing up her ass. Poor Jess.

P.S. I know “Poor Jess” and everything, but this girl cannot dress for sh-t. This is what she wore to her dad’s birthday party! This was probably her gift to him, her cleavage. Ugh.

Jessica Simpson leaves BOA Steakhouse after celebrating her father Joe's birthday

P.P.S. So I was looking up images for “pig” and guess what popped up first? Alec Baldwin and his daughter Ireland. Poor Ireland. Anyway… look at the cute piggies!

Michelle Obama featured in new PETA ad, White House is pissed

peta-ad

Sometimes I’m totally on the anti-PETA bandwagon. I think they have the potential to be a great organization, but I think they’re poorly-operated, and they fall back on cheesy, stupid, ridiculous stunts to make their point. This is one of those dumb times. PETA has released a new “fabulous and fur-free” ad, celebrating the women who have vowed to never wear fur (unlike some of these women). Unfortunately, PETA didn’t get permission from any of these women to use their images in their ads. Which in and of itself is ridiculous, because PETA can afford lawyers who will tell them that’s a bad idea. Anyway, First Lady Michelle Obama is one of the women in the ad, and now a huge “White House v. PETA” battle is brewing.

The White House is fuming over a new anti-fur ad featuring first lady Michelle Obama.

She appears alongside Oprah Winfrey, Carrie Underwood and Tyra Banks — who have all refused to wear real fur — in “Fur-Free and Fabulous,” PETA’s new ad campaign, which was unveiled last week and can be seen at Washington, D.C.-area Metro stations and on the group’s website.

But the White House maintains that PETA had no right to use the image of the first lady in its new ads.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk insists her organization wouldn’t have sought Obama’s consent for the ad because it knows that she can’t make such an endorsement.

“The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” she said in a press statement.

PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews added that Obama should be flattered. Introducing the campaign, he said: “By rejecting fur, these style icons demonstrate to the world that fur is old-fashioned and cruel.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yes, Michelle Obama has said several times that she does not wear fur. But just because she has publicly proclaimed that she doesn’t wear fur doesn’t mean her image can be used for PETA’s promotional purposes. That’s like me saying I like Gerard Butler and Gerard Butler uses my image in an ad as an endorsement. Bad example? Sorry. But you get my point. My guess is that PETA knew it didn’t have a legal leg to stand on, but they just did the ad anyway to raise some controversy and get some media hits. So, it’s a stunt. Whatever.

PETA’s worst dressed list: Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley & Rihanna
Rihanna Gives Some Fans Special Attention!

This is actually one of my favorite lists of all of the year-end lists. Every year, PETA compiles their list of the “worst-dressed” celebrities. It has nothing to do with fashion, though. It’s all about who wore fur or any kind of animal skin. Call me a hypocrite, but I think it’s totally unnecessary to wear fur, but I don’t see why people (or PETA) get worked up over various leathers. Leather is okay in my book, which means that a half-dressed PETA representative (probably a totally drunk and jacked Pamela Anderson) will be picketing my house in ten seconds. But fur? Why do people even wear fur anymore? Yeah, it’s cold. Put on a lambswool sweater. NOOOO!!!

Kate Moss, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Elizabeth Hurley are used to dominating society’s best-dressed lists. But this week they will find themselves topping a more dishonourable fashion list.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) Foundation has drawn up a roll call of the fashion world’s Worst Dressed Celebrities based on their penchant for pelts. The Duchess of Cornwall and Shirley Bassey will also grace the list, as will football Wags Coleen Rooney and Alex Gerrard, and the singer Rihanna.

The “winner”, to be chosen in an online poll, will be announced in February by Stella McCartney, a vegetarian who refuses to use any leather and fur in her designs.

The award is considered to be a powerful weapon in the fight against fur. Last year Paris Hilton and Christina Ricci announced a change of heart about wearing it after being nominated. “I never meant to hurt nor anger anyone with my insensitivity,” said Ricci. “For what it is worth, I have received the message loud and clear and will not be wearing fur in the future. I apologize for my offensive actions.”

Moss is hot favourite to win this year in recognition of her collection of fur coats, sealskin Mukluk boots, rabbit-skin bedspreads and sheepskin rugs. Elizabeth Hurley is also tipped as a likely winner after agreeing to pose in a selection of mink coats for fur house Blackglama.

“Among the most vulgar offenders this year is Catherine Zeta-Jones, who can’t seem to leave her room in New York without covering herself head to toe in the dried-out skins of several species – not just fur coats but leather pants and crocodile bags,” said Dan Mathews, vice-president of Peta. “She looks more like a serial killer than a star. We’ve written to Rihanna in the hope that the furs she’s been flaunting are fake, but it seems the cat’s got her tongue. The Duchess of Cornwall, not to be thwarted by the fox-hunting ban, has gone hunting in her grannie’s wardrobe. Then there’s the old guard like Shirley Bassey, who has a skin-crawling fashion sense. Elizabeth Hurley’s wardrobe is now as dead as her film career.”

A growing list of fashion icons have sworn off fur, from Carla Bruni and Michelle Obama to Pink and Lady Gaga. But times have changed since the early 1990s, when supermodels such as Naomi Campbell declared they would rather go naked than wear fur.

Now Campbell fronts a campaign for the furrier Dennis Basso – and campaigners admit that, on the catwalk and the high street, the trend is hotter than it has been for years.
Fur coats made an appearance during the New York, London and Milan fashion weeks. Karl Lagerfeld covered motorcycle helmets with mink and chinchilla. Dolce & Gabbana added bright pink fur sleeves to jackets. Fur also featured prominently in the collections of Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Prada.

Last month French Vogue featured the Brazilian supermodel Raquel Zimmermann in a flurry of fur. Keira Knightley attended an awards ceremony in a karakul lambskin coat and Jennifer Lopez makes no secret of her fondness for mink and chinchilla.

Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, is unapologetically pro-fur, running positive editorials and fur-themed photo shoots. “Fur is still part of fashion,” Wintour said this year, “so Vogue will continue to report on it.”

Celebrities’ enthusiasm for fur has seen sales rocket. In 2007, fur sales worldwide totalled $16.5bn, up by 11% on the previous year, following nine years of continuous growth. Last year the fur trade contributed $21bn to the global economy.

Campaigners admit they are concerned that the industry is winning its fight to redefine fur as something worn by chic, edgy kids rather than the sort of moth-eaten, fusty choice made by traditional grandmothers.

“Young people are more comfortable showing their love of fur,” said Mathews. “Hopefully, our Worst Dressed Award will wake these cold-hearted celebs up to the truth about fur.”

[From The Guardian]

Sigh. My mother had a rabbit’s fur coat. I remember it vividly. It wasn’t the prettiest thing, but it was crazy warm. I think she ended up giving it away several years ago, but that was just because she wanted more space in her coat closet. Anyway, my favorites of the offenders are the people who used to swear they wouldn’t wear fur, and now do. Can you really love fur that much? Think of the bunnies! And the other little furry woodland creatures. Sob!

PETA-advocate Dominique Swain dumped her puppies in a shelter
30th Annual The Gift Of Life Celebration - Arrivals

Okay, I had to read this Fox News Pop Tarts story a few times to get the gist of why Dominique Swain should be bashed. First of all, for those who don’t know who Dominique Swain is, she was the “Lolita” in the 1997 Jeremy Irons remake, filming it back when she was either 15 or 16 years old. Since Lolita, she’s been a string of forgettable films, and she once dated Chris Masterson (the oldest brother on Malcolm in the Middle). I seem to remember that she might have dated Dave Matthews at one point, or maybe they’re just friends – I really can’t find out one way or the other.

Anyway, Dominique was a PETA spokesperson a few years ago and she participated in an ad with the slogan “Kindness is a Class Act”. Unfortunately for all, Dominique seems to be just another dumb hypocrite when it comes to animal rights. Pop Tarts reports that Dominique dumped a litter of puppies off at an animal shelter. The puppies didn’t have any of their shots, and when the animal shelter people asked her for a “donation”, Swain was all “I ain’t got no money” and then drove off in her BMW. Now PETA is all “we barely know the bitch” and “that’s so wrong, y’all”.

It sounds like “Alpha Dog” starlet and PETA spokeswoman Dominique Swain needs a refresher course on how to treat animals.

Pop Tarts spies spotted the 29-year-old actress at an animal shelter in Malibu over the weekend, accompanied by her father and a box of eight-week-old, half cocker spaniel puppies that her dog had.

“She was really strung out and just wanted to dump the puppies there, they had never even been to a vet,” an eyewitness tells Tarts. “She was told that it was crucial that they had their shots at four and eight weeks, and they had to be kept away from the other shelter dogs.”

According to the witness, the shelter volunteers asked if Swain could make a donation so the required vaccinations could be performed, otherwise the volunteers at the non profit shelter would have to pay for them.

“She said she had no money, despite [driving in] in her BMW,” the eyewitness said. “She was really rude. Eventually she said she would make a small donation, but just left the pups there and drove off.”

It sounds like Swain may have forgotten the words she uttered in PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Then Wear Fur” campaign under the slogan “Kindness is a Class Act.”

“Cruelty to animals is wrong,” Swain said. “If all I have to do is stand in front of a blackboard naked to make people think about the cruelty that animals go through to make a fur coat, I’m perfectly willing. I’m baring my skin to save animals’ skins!”

A spokesman for PETA was not impressed with the actress’s actions.

“We’ve not worked with Dominique in years and there’s no excuse for her allowing her dog to breed in a city that is overflowing with homeless animals literally dying for good homes,” said the rep. “There are free and low-cost spay-and-neuter services available all over LA. It is up to all animal guardians to fix their cats and dogs. If people don’t have the resources to pay for spaying or neutering, they can still find free clinics by doing the tiniest bit of research.”

A rep for Swain did not respond for comment.

[From Fox News Pop Tarts]

I like how they described her as “strung out”. I wonder if that’s her problem? A little nose candy, a little meth. Eh…anyway, I wonder why PETA made a statement about how the mama dog wasn’t spayed, while not even talking about the whole “rich bitch should pay for her dogs to get their shots” thing. Because not paying for the shots bothers me a lot more than the not spaying your dog thing. My dog isn’t neutered (his balls give him so much pleasure!) – and I don’t think that makes me a horrible person. Of course, he doesn’t have access to any un-spayed girl dogs. But I will pay for my dog’s shots!

Pamela Anderson cries over her debt-ridden, platinum-tiled home

wenn5374959

This is the promotional image for the latest “Save the Seals” campaign, which is trying to end Canada’s slaughter of all the baby seals. Uh… photoshopped much? Because the real Pam looks like this. According to WENN, Pamela and Save the Seals unveiled this image in Toronto today, outside of the Ontario Legislative Building. Pamela said, in regard to the slaughter of seals: “Canadians aren’t cruel and indifferent, but our leaders have been on this issue. I can only hope that by bringing attention to the slaughter, the international outcry will force the Canadian government to end this shameful practice.” Last night Pamela also attended a benefit for PETA in Toronto, and she actually showed up covering a great deal of skin! It was shocking. I mean, of course her boobs were hanging out of the deep v-neck, but her arms are covered! And her cooch is covered too! Classy.

Not so classy? Pamela’s debt. A few weeks ago, Star Magazine was the first to report on Pamela’s extensive financial problems. They had contractors going on record saying that they hadn’t been paid for hundreds of thousands worth of renovations Pamela had ordered for her Malibu home. Pamela denied the story, but no one believed her. Now she’s finally admitting that she’s got real problems – unfortunately, her story is even more ridiculous than Star even reported. Initially, Star claimed Pam was about $1.5 million in debt. Pamela now claims that construction has gone $3 million over budget! Guess how the figure got so high? Pam was getting her pool tiled in platinum. I repeat – PLATINUM. I sh-t you not.

Former Baywatch and Playboy pin-up Pamela Anderson has opened-up about the construction on her Malibu home that has led to her moving to a nearby trailer park.

The 42-year-old mom of two is reportedly millions of dollars in the red after costs at the beach property spiraled out of control – which included tiling her whole pool platinum!
She said: “I am $3 million over budget and I should have moved in a year ago – I’m tiling the whole pool platinum and that is expensive!”

Now, whenever the model visits the home she sobs at all the work that still needs to be completed. She added: “I’m going to sell it. I hate it. People commit suicide over constructions.

“Relationships break down over constructions and I can see why – it rips your heart out.”

The famous blonde bombshell made her comments for a documentary called Pamela Anderson: At Home With Joe For Living TV.

In the documentary, Anderson shows Joe Swash and his crew around the house revealing that her financial situation is so bad she has to live in a trailer with her electrician boyfriend Jamie Padgett, 42, and her two sons Brandon, 13, and Dylan, 11.

To help ease her financial worries she has signed-up to play Genie in Aladdin at the new Wimbledon Theatre in the UK for two weeks.

And when her guest appearance was announced box office takings increased by 800 per cent although the pin-up is only reportedly receiving $600 per day.

[From Radar]

So… Pam is living in a trailer with her (surprisingly hot) boyfriend and her two sons. And she wants us to feel badly about this since she went $3 million over budget because she wanted a platinum tiled pool. Gross, gross, gross. But at least we have some kind of explanation for why she keeps taking any job that gets thrown her way… speaking of, Aladdin?!?

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy v. PETA: free shoes for anyone wearing leather

Barack Obama meets for bilateral talks with Nicolas Sarkozy in Caen
French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is trying to win over People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and it’s sort of working. Carla wrote a letter to PETA claiming that she does not buy or wear fur, and she only wears skin/leather products of animals “raised for feeding purposes.” Which makes sense in the larger view – use all parts of the animal, if an animal has to die, make sure everything is being utilized so there’s no waste. Except that how does Carla (or anyone for that matter) know if the leather products come from animals that are also being used for food? There’s the “cruelty-free” label, but from my understanding, that’s just for leather harvested from “naturally deceased animals.” Perhaps Carla thinks that if she’s wearing leather from cows, naturally, all of those cows have been made into a nice juicy steak. Mmm… steak.

PETA actually contained themselves when Carla admitted in the letter that she was not a vegetarian. PETA spokesperson Dan Matthews was able to get a handle on himself and managed not to scream, “No one can ever eat meat, ever, ever, ever!” Matthews only picked up on the leather stuff – he says that PETA is sending over some Stella McCartney non-leather shoes so Carla can “see that no animals have to be fashion victims.” Uh… if I send a letter to PETA telling them that I don’t wear fur (which is totally true), will they send me a pair of Stella McCartney shoes?

FRANCE’S Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has captured the hearts of animal activists in a big way.

In a letter to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, France’s first lady writes: “I do not wear, buy or own fur or animal skin other than leather or skin of animals raised for feeding purposes. I am not a vegetarian and I don’t find it illogical to wear skins of animals whose meat is also eaten.”

She adds: “I would gladly consider giving away sable, fox and other fur coats — if I owned any.”

PETA honcho Dan Mathews is impressed. “Carla’s obviously for ward-thinking,” he told us. “And when she gets the chic, non-leather shoes we’re sending from Stella McCartney’s Paris boutique, we’re confident she’ll see that no animals have to be fashion victims.”

[From Page Six]

I want a pair of shoes! PETA, I don’t wear fur! But I have a lot of leather shoes and purses – so maybe a couple of pretty non-leather purses from Hermes, or something?

It’s interesting that PETA decided to send Carla a pair of shoes – she recently gave an interview where she admitted she really regrets the focus on her flat footwear. She (and the international press) are obsessed with how she towers over her husband, and Carla has taken to wearing flats almost all of the time. Also, if you want to see some cool pictures of Carla and Michelle Obama’s“fashion face-off” in France this past weekend, Huffington Post had some good fashion coverage.

PETA mad at Jessica Simpson for performing at SeaWorld

30782PCN_Jessica
Jessica Simpson pulled out the daisy dukes from the back of her closet to perform at SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas over the weekend. She paired the cut-off shorts with wedge heels, a white crocheted top and an bizarre gray poncho-type vest with a kaleidoscope pattern of pink diamonds. PETA sent Simpson a sternly-worded letter ahead of the performance. The animal rights organization wasn’t taking offense to anything she was wearing as her outfit wasn’t cruel to any particular critter. PETA wanted Simpson to forgo the concert at SeaWorld out of respect for the captive sea animals forced to perform against their will. They tried to make it personal, with a play-on-words reference to the way her weight gain and loss has played out in the media:

People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals’ special projects manager Michelle Cho has written a stern note to Simpson and her manager/father Joe, asking them to consider pulling the concert in protest about the dolphins kept in captivity at the tourist hotspot.

In the letter, obtained exclusively by WENN, Cho writes, “As someone who is used to living in a fishbowl and having the public weigh in on her every move, you might like to give some thought to the animals who are forced to be ‘on display’ their entire lives. Imagine being forced to do stupid tricks and swim endless circles in a bathtub. Life for whales, dolphins, polar bears, and fish who live in tanks and cages is like a bad reality show that plays 24/7. There are no commercial breaks, and the show is never cancelled.

“In 2004, the stress of performing at SeaWorld proved to be too much for one orca (whale) named Ky. After becoming agitated during a show, Ky attacked and repeatedly slammed his trainer underwater as a packed crowd looked on in horror. SeaWorld, which owns most of the captive orcas and dolphins in the U.S., has one of the worst animal-care records in the country. Countless animals have lived and died in misery in these marine theme parks.

“We’re asking you to support the dolphins. Please reconsider your decision to perform at SeaWorld and promise not to appear at venues that exploit animals in the future.”

[From Starpulse]

Obviously that didn’t work, because Simpson did the gig as planned, which was part of SeaWorld’s “Bud & BBQ” concert series. PETA previously named Simpson one of the worst dressed celebrities due to her penchant for fur, so it’s not like she’s going to start caring about the plight of dolphins and whales in captivity. Here is more information about dolphins in captivity from the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

PETA v. Octo-Mom: battle of the diapered pig

90428u1_suleman_b_gr_02
Hell has frozen over – I’ve finally found an issue where I can be Team PETA totally and unequivocally. Last week, Nadya “OctoMom” Suleman mentioned that she was seriously considering getting a pet. OctoMom was trying to decide between a dog (the choice of her 14 kids) and a pet pig (Nadya’s choice). PETA balked, sending out a public statement that actually seemed reasonable and measured. It’s as if someone at PETA is trying to use logic and common sense to try to speak to OctoMom. Like they don’t know how crazy this woman is.

Octo-Mom Nadya Suleman is thinking about buying a pet, but PETA doesn’t think a new member of the family is such a good idea for the mother of 14 children.

“In today’s uncertain economy — and with all the demands that come with raising 14 children — we urge you to reconsider adding two more dependents to your family,” PETA’s Michelle Cho wrote in a letter to Suleman.

The unemployed mother of 14 — who relies on public assistance to pay for her eight nannies — said last week that she was considering adding a pet to the mix.

“For a couple of years, the kids have been asking for a dog,” Suleman said. “I’ve actually been looking into a pig, like a little one.”

(Suleman’s attorney, Jeff Czech, told Usmagazine.com that the pet would be “probably a dog — probably a Shih Tzu.”)

PETA, the world’s largest animal rights organization with more than 2 million members, hopes Suleman will reconsider.

“Like children, pigs and dogs are intelligent, social beings with complex needs,” Cho wrote in the letter, given exclusively to Us “They require a lot of attention, space, and exercise as well as a huge financial commitment.”

Suleman said that if she were to buy a pig, it would wear a diaper and live outside the family’s $564,000 La Habra, Calif. home because of its smell.

“Keeping a pig outside and making him or her a playmate for your children — who do not understand a pig’s many needs and will only pay attention to him or her when it suits them — is not an acceptable way to treat an intelligent animal such as this,” Cho wrote.

Instead of new pets, PETA encourages the mom to help her children make friends.

“We hope that your recent move to your new home will allow your children to form fast friendships with kids in your neighborhood with whom they share similar interests,” Cho wrote.

From US Weekly

People who diaper their animals make me sick. And no, I’m not talking about those odd occasions when your little yapping dog has diarrhea, I’m talking about diapering your pig as a long-term waste solution.

Considering OctoMom is crazy, what’s the real story behind her desire to have a pet pig? Has she switched over from Angelina-worship to George Clooney-worship? Clooney memorably lived with his pig Max for many years – it was the longest relationship Clooney ever had with anyone outside his family, actually. Clooney would never put a diaper on Max. Max was Clooney’s true love – and for OctoMom to attempt a diapered pseudo-copy is just obscene.

Here’s Octo-mom shopping at Target yesterday after getting breakfast for her kids at McDonalds and dropping them off at school. She also got issued a ticket by a cop for illegally parking her car outside the school. Credit: Bauergriffinonline.com

Audrina Patridge plays vapid angel in PETA campaign

600-audrina-partridge

On the heels of the announcement that she will be helping Pam Anderson open a steakhouse/strip joint combo, Audrina Patridge has appeared in PETA’s pet adoption print campaign along with her adopted dog, Speedy Gonzalez. The campaign asks people to adopt, never buy, pets, because “buying animals means killing animals.”

Audrina Patridge an angel? Hills fans might think it’s a bit of a stretch, but the reality TV star is donning her wings – and a sexy white bikini! – in a new campaign for PETA, revealed first on PEOPLE.

On a billboard set to be unveiled Wednesday on L.A.’s Beverly Boulevard, Patridge poses in the sexy angel outfit with her rescued dog, Speedy Gonzalez, next to the line, “Be an Angel for Animals-Always Adopt, Never Buy.”

In a statement released by PETA, Patridge says, “Each year, 6 to 8 million unwanted dogs and cats are turned in to shelters, and half are killed because there aren’t enough good homes. The solution is as easy as ABC – animal birth control. Always spay and neuter, and never buy from a pet store or a breeder.”

[From People]

She has been photoshopped into oblivion, and yet they still can’t do anything to fix her ceiling-eyes. They just had her tilt her head so that her eyes floated to the corners. Yesterday, JayBird questioned why the vacant look is supposed to be sexy, and I have to agree. It seems that Audrina has taken a page out of Paris’ (very vapid) look and taken it for her own. Audrina also has great abs, but her whole body looks hard, like she needs to add a few pounds to soften the edges. In the Peta ad campaign, though, she looks like a Victoria’s Secret model.

On PETA’s website, Audrina says that she did the campaign because of how much she loves animals.

During the photo shoot, Audrina told us, “I wanted to get involved with PETA because I’ve always been passionate about animals, and I think this is a great way to make people and all my fans aware of all the animals that need a home. And a lot of people go to pet stores and breeders to buy their animals, but you should adopt, so go to an animal shelter and rescue a dog.”

[From Peta]

However, her love for animals, as The Deceiver points out, does not expand to cows. Does she realize that leather jackets and sandals comes from animals? And why is it that PETA always picks the densest of hot women to be their spokespeople? Pam Anderson, Khloe Kardashian, and now Audrina.

Here’s Audrina in West Hollywood on Tuesday. Images thanks to Fame Pictures .

Miley Cyrus will receive PETA’s Compassionate Citizen Award

miley cyrus dogs 130409

Last week, Miley Cyrus’s co-star spoke to Fox News about how much Miley loved the union chickens that were working the Hannah Montana: The Movie set. Miley loved the chickens so much, she hijacked them and made her mom bring them home. It was a cute story, and one that didn’t go unnoticed.

PETA decided to reward Miley with a “Compassionate Citizen Award”, technically given by peta2, the youth division of PETA. Unlike some all-or-nothing statements from PETA (stuff along the lines of “Stop eating meat, the end.”), PETA’s Miley/chicken statement is pretty nice: “We hope that her act of compassion will inspire her fans to be kind to animals too.”

Last week Pop Tarts exclusively reported that Miley Cyrus stole chickens from the set of her new movie “Hannah Montana” and took them home as pets.

The deed has earned the sweet 16-year-old a Compassionate Citizen Award from peta2, the youth division of PETA.

“Miley’s heart is as big as her smile,” Dan Shannon , PETA’s assistant director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns said in a statement. “We hope that her act of compassion will inspire her fans to be kind to animals too.”

Cyrus will receive a framed certificate and a card signed by staffers at the animal rights organization.

[From Fox News]

Of course, PETA will still issue a harsh statement if Miley decides to wear fur or eat a steak. But today, Miley is on PETA’s good side. I wonder what kind of chicken coop Miley has set up at her house? Or maybe Miley decided to let the chickens roam free, unburdened by union contracts.

On another PETA-related sidenote, while Angelina Jolie was filming Salt in New York, she was photographed wearing what looked like a chinchilla fur-lined muu-muu with a matching fur cap. PETA released a statement after the photographs were published, claiming that they had assurances from Salt publicists that Angelina was actually wearing synchilla, a popular synthetic chinchilla.
