Natasha Lyonne was kicked off a Delta flight after not responding to questions

Two photos, one of Natasha Lyonne smoking a cigarette and holding on to a friend as she arrives at the Euphoria: Season 3 Premiere after-party held at Chateau Marmont, another of her at the premiere with the same friend.
The season 3 premiere for Euphoria was held in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and a ton of other celebrities were there. Natasha Lyonne, who appears as a guest star this season, also walked the red carpet in an outfit that I will refrain from commenting on, but you can see photos here and on Just Jared. I think this was her first red carpet since she announced in late January that she’d relapsed after 20 years of sobriety. Last month, she gave an update that she was doing much better.

Natasha lives in NYC and was scheduled to take a red-eye flight back home after the premiere. Unfortunately, she did not make it home that night. Instead, she ended up getting kicked off the flight. According to Page Six, flight attendants had Natasha removed after she didn’t respond to their pre-takeoff request to put her laptop away and fashion her seatbelt. She also appeared to be out of it.

Hours after appearing on the red carpet at the Season 3 premiere of HBO’s “Euphoria,” Natasha Lyonne was seen being removed from a flight from LA to NYC.

Lyonne — who has joined the show’s cast as a guest star — was seen aboard the red eye in the same black stockings and wraparound shades she’d worn to the earlier premiere, but also in sneakers and a long black coat.

On the red carpet earlier at the TLC Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the star had appeared in an eye-popping sheer top. But on the flight to NYC later, Lyonne seemed out of it in a first class seat, and when flight attendants asked her to close her laptop and fasten her seatbelt for takeoff, she didn’t respond.

Numerous flight attendants repeatedly tried to get the star to follow their commands, an eyewitness saw, and she seemed to be dozing behind her sunglasses — even getting startled at one point and saying, “Ah! You scared me!”

Her laptop was eventually taken out of her hand and the plane taxied to the runway, but then later turned back to the gate before takeoff.

A Delta staffer boarded the plane and asked the star, “Ma’am, do you need medical attention?” Then they said, “Ma’am, I need you to come off the plane. Do you need help with your belongings?”

“Where are we?” Lyonne was overheard asking, before being told, “We’re still in LA. The plane hasn’t gone anywhere.” And, “The plane is not going anywhere until you come off it.”

She then coolly shushed the gate agent who’d come on board.

Ultimately, the star got up and calmly headed to the bathroom, then emerged eating a bag of pretzels and obediently got off the plane — after her luggage had already been removed.

The captain told the crowded flight after the plane had been delayed a little over an hour, “We have a passenger who for whatever reason … wouldn’t follow some basic commands … We had a passenger who didn’t seem up to the task tonight so that’s why they were asked to be booked on another flight — I do apologize for the inconvenience, but we will get you to New York as quickly and as safely as possible.”

The plane then took off without further incident, with the empty seat in first class.

It sounds like Natasha got off the plane willingly, without getting aggressive or causing a commotion. I wonder if there’s more to the story that’s yet to come out. She did make it back to NYC by Thursday, though, because she attended the premiere of the Lorne Michaels’ documentary, Lorne (wearing a much better outfit than the one she wore Tuesday). Natasha also issued a statement on Thursday via Twitter that said, “My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports. Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards.”

As of Thursday night, there isn’t any video of this incident floating around. There was, however, a video of Natasha at the Euphoria premiere. I don’t want to make any assumptions because I’ve had to do quick trips to California before and as a life-long East Coaster, the time change always f-cks me up for those first few days. That said, it looks like she’s staggering and at some points she’s being held up by other people. I’ve always liked and rooted for Natasha, so I hope she’s taking care of herself and not pushing herself to do events before she’s ready to.

I’ve always liked her and I bet her Euphoria cameo will be badass. But the combination of that Grey Gardens outfit and the Delta story is concerning, especially if this is about a hard relapse.

Last year I was on a flight and a passenger was removed for being intoxicated. When someone asked why they were removed, the flight attendant said it was against the law to transport someone who is drunk. I had never heard that before but it explains this situation.

      • Eurydice says:

Yes, I was on a red eye flight from Las Vegas where a drunken couple got on board, arguing about how much money they had lost. They got louder and louder until security was called to remove them. The real delay was in finding their luggage. A flight can’t take off with unaccompanied luggage.

      • Mightymolly says:

I saw a news story which is how I first learned the intoxicated policy, but it makes sense. With altitude and dehydration someone could get really sick and force an emergency landing.

Absolutely no judgement for the airline making this call.

      • BeanieBean says:

Whether her issue is alcohol or drugs, it would be dangerous to have someone on a plane who is non-responsive to instructions.

What’s the saying….Sober faces, sober places? I’m guessing the Euphoria premiere party was neither of those, which would be really hard for someone struggling with addiction. As someone who’s 5 days off the sauce, I know I’d struggle with something like that. Hope she has a strong support system and can get some help.

Oh, Natasha, please come to your senses, you are such a joy.

I love Natasha and have always been so inspired and encouraged by her resilience, strength, and survival. I recently had the opportunity to attend a talk she gave, and not only is she strikingly beautiful, she is also truly a brilliant mind, and deeply empathetic, astute, wise, and kind. She spoke of being aware and creative, and the realities of being a thinking, feeling person in the world. She is a true original with a razor sharp wit. I’ve been around famous people, but other than Natasha, I’ve never been in the presence of someone with such a striking and charismatic presence. And she’s incredibly smart. All this to say, I’m rooting for Natasha and sending support and solidarity.

I’ve met Natasha a few times through a mutual friend, and I cosign everything you’ve said. She’s just awesome, and SO charismatic, the kind of person who can bring just about anybody out of their shell. Everyone I know who has met her has said that she seems to have a sixth sense for knowing what a person needs to hear to cheer up, or feel more confident, or just to feel included (for example, the first time I met her, I’d just gotten my very long hair chopped to shoulder length and was really not feeling great about it, but she initiated our conversation by complimenting me on it. I felt gorgeous and bulletproof after that). She’s an absolute treasure and must be supported and protected at all costs.

Next time you meet her, feel free to share that some random person you’ve chatted with online is obsessed with her hair!!

    • Kitten says:

I love hearing all these good stories about her. Always loved her. Really hope she can get back to sobriety and taking care of herself because we definitely need her on this planet.

    I’m rooting for her.

I love her. She is a bright and talented. Poker Face is the best new show I have seen in the last 5 years. I keep Instagram partially because of her and a few other creators. Her posts slip me into the delightful, non-political, random rabbitholes that made me used to love the app. I hope she finds peace and health (and the media gives her the space to allow her to heal). The Murdoch media can kick rocks and needs to focus on the mess they created in Washington. Dear lort. Hegseth’s minions threatened to bomb the Vatican if the pope doesn’t do magat’s bidding and this is what the Post covers? She wasn’t belligerent, she wasn’t aggressive and she wasn’t a danger to the public.

    • CatGotMyTongue says:

Hegseth is vile. Also likes to play the tough guy but he can’t really lift. Pattie Gonia has a great video about it.

This was the Murdoch plan all along. And now he’s deflecting from Epstein. And the stupid war. Which is also a distraction from Epstein!

No, let’s pick on the petty lady who is going through a rough time!

Ugggh. I think I need to clear my head with some cat videos.

      RELEASE THE FILES’!!!

  7. Truthiness says:

I’m really pulling for Natasha, she’s a one of one in an industry where originality is sorely needed and she’s a kind soul.

Pokerface was awesome and it gave great roles to talented actresses and actors that we needed to see more of.

  8. Mia4s says:

Unfortunately I think you absolutely can make some assumptions based on that red carpet video, especially with what happened next. She’s under the influence. And not in a “misjudged her cocktail intake at dinner so she’s chattier than usual” way. Very sad, I hope if nothing else this motivates her to treatment.

  9. I’m hoping all is well with her and that she was just tired and maybe not feeling so well. She’s worked hard for her sobriety and I hope she reclaims it again for the long haul. Peace, happiness, joy, fun and sobriety to Natasha 🙏🏾

    • ICorrine says:

Addicts often hide their addictions in public because people around them make excuses for their behavior. Natasha Lyonne wasn’t just tired, she was impaired.

  10. Yup, Me says:

She wasn’t staggering in that video and when the one person comes closer, she leans on him briefly, almost like she would like to hide behind him. It does not look like he’s holding her up. If anything, she looks like she’s trying to be “on” and “up” and do her job on the step and repeat for the cameras while feeling exposed and vulnerable.

That’s the exact kind of situation that would make someone reach for a buffer (like sunglasses, or something else).

    I like Natasha a lot. Ever since But I’m a Cheerleader! . I hope she’s well.

  11. Normades says:

That makes me sad. Rooting for her.
