When Scarlett Johansson was announced as the winner of best actress at the Tony Awards she first got up and kissed her co-star Liev Schreiber on the cheek, and then turned around and kissed her husband Ryan Reynolds, also on the cheek, as if it were an afterthought. (That video is above.) Then in her speech she eventually thanked her husband after thanking the theater community, her co-workers and family. Ryan looked pleased at the mention, but it sounded like he came last after everyone else she could think of. (That’s at 2:25 in the video above.) According to sources quoted in the National Enquirer, Ryan found Scarlett’s gratitude lacking. They could be basing this story solely on her behavior at the Tony’s, but either way it doesn’t look like she has a solid relationship with Ryan.
[Ryan Reynolds] is furious, complaining that his beautiful wife cares more about her career – and her co-star – than their marriage.
“Ryan is fuming that Scarlett blew him off so flagrantly,” a Broadway insider told The Enquirer.
“When she gave Liev a big wet kiss on national TV, it made Ryan sick.”
Scarlett – who won the award for her acclaimed role in Broadway’s “A View from the Bridge” – leapt to her feel when her name was announced.
She immediately kissed Liev – but didn’t even look in Ryan’s direction before heading toward the stage. The 25 year-old-actress eventually realized her slight, and made a hasty dash back to give Ryan a quick peck.
She then proceeded to offer a backhanded compliment to her 33-year-old husband, telling the audience: “To my Canadian, whom I live with. Ryan, thank you for becoming a theater widower for me.”
Ryan had attended the June 13 event in an attempt to quell rumors that the couple’s marriage – after only a year and eight months – is on the rocks, says the source.
“That kiss to Liev was the ultimate insult. Scarlett celebrated her win as if Ryan was invisible.”
Ryan tore into Scarlett later that night, and Scarlett accused him of ruining her special night, according to the source. There’s been tension between them ever since.

Yesterday we heard Scarlett graciously defend herself from people criticizing her Tony win so early in her Broadway career. She claimed that she understood why people found her undeserving and that she “knows what it’s like to struggle as an actor.” That’s arguable considering that she got her start on film before she was teenager, but uncertainty is part of any actor’s career I guess.
The question now is whether Scarlett’s relationship with Ryan is suffering. We’ve heard this about them before – that Scarlett and Ryan are spending too much time away from each other working, and are “growing apart” and “arguing about scheduling.” There are rumors that they’re renewing their vows on their second wedding anniversary, though, and are planning to adopt a baby from Ethiopia. I think they’re in it for the long haul, but we’ll see. If they do adopt a baby they’ll have a lot of changes to work around.

umm… she just seemed overwhelmed and she probably saw liev in front of her and just kissed him first.. i think its very sweet when she refers to ryan as her “canadian”..

Oh, good grief. Those two don’t flaunt their marriage. They keep very quiet about their personal lives, and the National Enquirer can’t stand that. Consider the source and give this article a BS rating. I’ll believe they are having major problems when they quietly issue a joint statement that the marriage is over, not when the National Enquirer makes a mountain out of a possible but maybe nonexistent molehill.

I too vote for overwhelmed, and Liev was her costar, totally appropriate for her to acknowledge him as she did.
Ryan and Scarlett keep to themselves, I don’t see them having some big blowup and talking to “sources” about it.

i kind of don’t get why stars would thank their partners anyway. i mean i guess it’s a nice gesture but really they didn’t have anything to do with the show so it’d be kind of rude to thank them ABOVE the cast/crew/audience.

Wow. Only watched the beginning, but it’s so funny how she sought Liev Schrieber out FIRST, even though her husband was right beside her!
Unfortunately, I heard Ryan is a douche IRL so I don’t blame her if they are having problems. She should cut him lose because she’s YOUNG and his attitudes/moods are holding her back! (think the Comic Con incident)
I hope they don’t adopt kids until/if their relationship is stable. No need to have a band-aid baby — it won’t save a troubled marriage.

Ive always heard that Ryan is a douchebag in person when cameras are off. I totally buy it. Scarlett is starting to get more successful and a man with an big ego cant handle that. THats why so many actresses get divorced when they win oscars. I wouldnt be surprised if he allows jealousy to destroy the marraige. No ones first marraige works out nowadays anyway

Ryan doesn’t look put out at all. I don’t see the problem here. And why wouldn’t she thank her fellow actors and theater community first? The general public would otherwise never hear of those folks, while most know who Ryan is.

“The Canadian I live with” comment seemed pretty rude to me but if they joke around with each other like that then I don’t see the big deal..My boyfriend and I joke around with each other all the time and to an outsider it may seem rude or mean but it’s all in good loving fun:)

I love Scarlett. She’s one of the few celebrities who crossed over to music and actually sounded good – I think it’s because she stuck with an Indie vibe and collaborated with an accomplished artist. If anyone hasn’t heard “Relator”, the song she did with Pete Yorn, please listen to it! I love it, they play it all the time here on The Current (the only Indie, public radio station in the country) in Minneapolis. You don’t get on that station if you suck.
Anyway, I think Scarlett is gorgeous, humble, talented in more ways than standing around looking pretty, and she does have a fantastic voice and acting chops.
We can’t make any assumptions about her personal life because she and her husband are refreshingly quiet about it. From what I’ve heard from them though, they have a boring, normal, beautiful life.

While I’ve liked RR for quite some time, I’ve been reading that his ego has become quite formidable since he became Deadpool and the Green Lantern. Somehow, I don’t find that hard to believe at all. He’s definitely been giving off an “I’m the shit” vibe.

Watched the video and this is a total non-story from the National Enquirer. In the surprise of the moment a quick kiss could have gone either way but turned out to be first to Liev, and then to Ryan; it means nothing. And her thank you to Ryan was sweet. And at least she was no Sean Penn, completely ignoring the spouse smiling up from the audience.

I don’t really hear much about Ryan Reynolds except through Lainey Gossip and she’s no fan especially when the douche in question is Canadian but even she reports he’s apparently dialing down the douche behaviour, so I’m continuing happy thoughts about Ryan.

What does National Inquirer have against Ryan & Scarlett? They really want this marriage to fail. Is it because they cannot get a story out of them? Are they too private? No press can figure out what they are doing and where they are going. This is causing some major problems. Most fans complain that they never see them together. I think that is what they are trying to do! She is N.O. every week or he is in NY. Boy are we a bunch of stalkers are what. They have publicly dismissed the adoptions rumors as untrue. The Comic Com rumors were false; the Green Lantern was a year off from production at that time he was not going to be there. Scarlett told Jay Leno She never goes anywhere w/o her Canadian. She did not snub her husband and who in the hell are the inside sources?? This may be her pet name for him, we don’t know JACK!! If you go online the pictures of them together at this event are great. He cane to support her. If you see the way they look at each other I think it would still all of the talk surrounding this marriage. Please let them enjoy their life. Whoever this Lanie person is…she hates Ryan. All the movies he has filmed, all of his co-actors and Directors have only spoken of his dedication to his craft how he comes early and stays late, until he gets it right. RDJ, Hugh J, Liev S. have great things to say about him. Scarlett is not getting famous. She WAS and IS still more well known than Ryan.

I heard he has always been a bit of a controlling douchebag, it’s why he and Alanis split up years ago. She just couldn’t take his “everything is about me” attitude. He gets into relationships with these accomplished women, then expects everything to revolve around him and his career and his roles and him him him him etc.
For what it’s worth, I totally believe it.

“To my Canadian whom I live with??Ryan than you for becoming a theatre widower for me.” I’m sorry but what the hell kind of a “thank you” speech is that??!!The “my Canadian” part was okay-even kind of sweet- but then she ruined it with the rest of the speech…which was rude,weird and an insult… esp. when she said she “lived with” Ryan(they are MARRIED for Heaven’s sake!!) AND she DID kiss Liev FIRST-BEFORE her OWN HUSBAND!! I don’t see this marriage lasting much longer- they will probably divorce by year’s end…
