Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have a tabloid past in common

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston were spotted out together a third time after having apparently having lunch and dinner and spending the night together at Aniston’s hotel on Friday in South Beach, Miami. OK! Magazine reports that they were seen having dinner on Sunday, so maybe we can assume that they spent the weekend together and that those are the times they were seen out.

OK! also says that “friends” of Mayer’s are warning Aniston that he is a charmer who hits it and quits it, and that she should watch out for herself, because he has a history of making girls swoon over him and then pulling away. He is said to have been relentless in pursuing Jessica Simpson, but to have quickly grown tired of her:

But the 39-year-old actress may want to be cautious about this potential beau. Friends of the 30-year-old Grammy-winner say he has a long track record for leaving women heartbroken. “Girls fall for him hard because he’s charming,” one friend tells OK!, “but he has a reputation for crushing the girls he’s with.”

Jessica Simpson and actresses Minka Kelly and Jennifer Love Hewitt are just a few women who have been wooed by John.

“He came on so strong at first,” a pal of Jessica reveals to OK!. “He wanted to be with her every moment. When he wasn’t physically with her, he was texting her — but all of a sudden, he got bored and stopped returning her calls.”

John Mayer is arguably attractive. He’s not my type, but a lot of women like the dark brooding type and he’s certainly a talented musician. What I want to know is how anyone can stand being around him for an extended period of time. He seems like such a self-absorbed talker that he would bug the shit out of even the most patient women. Still, Mayer must have something that these beautiful successful women find attractive.

In an excruciatingly long interview with Best Life Magazine, Mayer revealed that he worries about what the girl of his dreams “thinks when she reads about me in US Weekly.” Jennifer Aniston also has a whole public persona invented and perpetuated by the tabloids, and they must be able to relate to each other incredibly well on that issue. Perhaps Mayer is a better listener than you would assume, and it’s possible Aniston is willing to listen to him ad nauseum, because they have a lot in common. Maybe they’ll find some solace in each other and last as a couple. You can sort of see them working despite Mayer’s history.

Jennifer Aniston is shown in a new ad for Smartwater, thanks to Splash. John Mayer is shown at Scleroderma Research Foundation’s Cool Comedy event on 4/16/08, thanks to WENN.

I think that perhaps this is a common trait in Hollywood, so I’m sure both parties of any given celebrity couple are used to it. I always like to imagine a Hollywood date as being 2 people who think they are having a conversation but are instead talking endlessly about themselves :)

    self-absorbed, boring or not!
All I know is that I can be both of them at times…

  4. Sigh. Yet another boring story about boring Jennifer Aniston’s love life (which is probably far more boring than the tabloids make it out to be).

  8. There is nothing wrong with being “boring”, if certain celebrities were boring as well they would not have to deal with rehab and other craziness in their life. I quess i live a “boring” life as well, but i am happy regardless and stay out of trouble, that is important to me.

  9. Maybe he’s just a boy toy — somebody to hang out and have fun with, and not get serious about.

    I think he’s hot.

  10. Technically, they make a great couple. They are both “cute&boring”. Or at least appear so.

Now, what I am interested in is the Smartwater thing. That ad, somehow, makes me want to try it. And I am not particularly fan of Aniston. Strange.

  12. her bff is married to a younger man….maybe she thought she would try it.

I think he is a bore (music isn’t much better) and I don’t really like her, but do like the b&w photo

  13. Jennifer seems like a strong, no bullsh*t woman and might be exactly the kind of woman to keep John in line, instead of some simpering little girl in total need of all his attention. Somehow I can see him really working to persue her and keep her interest.

  15. Why do so many people hate on Jen so much? Brad betrays her and the world hates HER for it? Come on! She handled that whole deal with strength and class and should be commended. She was an average looking woman before she got the role on Friends, and she’s dieted down and become a gorgeous woman. Maybe she’s not classically beautiful, but she’s very sexy and has a perfect figure AND has great sense of style. She always looks put together so well. As far as Jen and John … She’s probably just banging him, and so what? Get some of that young stuff, girl! I think SHE should “hit and quit” HIM! Whatever is going on, she deserves some fun and good times (and some booty) with a nice guy. I hope they are chilling out together.

  16. It’s ok everyone. Just because Brad treated her badly doesn’t mean if you make her look bad Brad will look better. Not gonna work. Deal with it. It takes one person to break wedding vows. And by the way Jen looks great. Can’t a women have some fun? Women please beware your turn may come.
