Rogaine wants a word with Prince William

wenn2900763

This story is kind of mean, but I enjoyed it anyway. Life & Style spoke to a rep for Rogaine, and apparently the company is trying to field a formal offer to Prince William. So that he won’t look so bald on his wedding day. Ugh, dudes are so dumb. A balding (or totally bald) man who works his lack of hair is so much sexier than a dude who gets all touchy about it. Men and their hairlines… don’t even get me started.

If Prince William ever gets self-conscious about his bald spot, at least one company is waiting in the wings to lend a helping hand.

“We’ve been watching Prince William’s growing bald spot closely for years, and we believe Rogaine can help,” a rep for the company tells Life & Style. “We’d love to send him our new Unscented Men’s Rogaine Foam. William would be the perfect spokesman for Rogaine because whether you’re a prince or an average Joe, hereditary hair loss affects one in four men.”

And Prince William does want to look his best on his wedding day. “When he’s on the altar and the world is looking at the back of his head,” says the rep, “he won’t have to worry about the hair that’s not there.”

[From Life & Style]

I knew a guy who was obsessed with his hair loss – to be fair to the guy, he had a small bald spot very, very early. Like, when he was 19 years old. William too began losing his hair very early. Does he seem concerned about it? I think he does. In some photos, he attempts some kind of royal comb-over deal, but lately his bald spot has been out and about, almost as if William is simply tired of trying to hide it.

Anyway, it’s kind of douche move for Rogaine, right? Poor Will. He should just shave his head – you never know, it might be a really good look for him.

“We’ve been watching Prince William’s growing bald spot closely for years, and we believe Rogaine can help,”

    Ouch! So mean.

He’s been doing some artful rearranging for years because I never realized he was *that* bald!

Also, maybe he has tried Rogaine and it didn’t work?

Just shave it all off Will; bald is sexy – see Patrick Stewart and Bruce Willis.

  2. Kiki says:

I think it’s a great idea! I don’t think the bald look would suit him as it does on Bruce Willis! Go for it Wills!

  3. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

Yeah Right!! Watch Rogaine Rep, He’s gonna jump right on that..

    LOL!!

  4. Alexa says:

Hmmm…is it really that EASY? I know men who invest in a steady supply of Rogaine, use it as directed, and have no more hair than Prince William. Can anyone enlighten me? I don’t believe it just “grows hair” for everyone.

  5. brin says:

I agree…his hair isn’t nice enough to hold on to anyway, off with it!

  6. the original bellaluna says:

Bald is stone-cold sexy! My hubby has watched his brother worry over his receding hairline for years, and laughed at his vanity. Hubby, on the other hand, still has fabulously thick hair (when he ever allows it to grow out), but prefers to be bald. All that hair is HOT to carry around! (My hair is incredibly long – down to my rear-end, and very, very heavy; I understand where he’s coming from.)

Lucky for us both, I find bald incredibly hot. (see: Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, “Captain Piquard,” et al…) And of course, Mr. Bellaluna! 😉

  7. Tess says:

I give him a lot of credit for baring the bald.

He was always considered uber attractive, kind of the male counterpart of his mother.

It takes a very solid sense of self for a young male to accept a barren scalp, especially one who’s been celebrated for his good looks and who has plenty of access to rogaine, mini hair transplants, etc., etc.

More power to him. Very likeable.

  8. heatheradair says:

agreed on the “shave it off!” count. love a bald man. not that he’s in the same league as christopher meloni or jason statham or any of my other favorites who’s hairlines took a hike, but when it starts to go: buzz it. would actually take some years off of william and help him look less like his dad, i think…..

  9. Tia C says:

    Great headline Kaiser! LOL!

Yeah, I’m sure William is going to jump right on that opportunity – so not! While I feel it’s a shame he’s balding so much so young, he just doesn’t seem the type to do anything about it. He’s more dignified than that.

  10. devilgirl says:

He is looking more and more like his father every day, and that is not a good thing. Windsor genes are not kind.

  11. albeli says:

    Poor thing.

  12. Leticia says:

He should shave the remaining wisps of hair or cut it super short like Jason Stratham does.

  13. mln76 says:

Balding is just so not a big deal. I find hair plugs and toupees the opposite of sexy though.

  14. REALIST says:

Oh, be nice. If Kate doesn’t care, we shouldn’t either.
Besides-maybe he’ll end up being a Bruce Willis-type king! He could shave his head and pump up a bit and harken back to days of old!
Very old, in fact; I think almost every king has been pretty foppish since Henry VIII-but then he became huge and disgusting when he stopped hunting and running after Anne Boleyn=karma!

  15. Bodhi says:

I have a handful of guy friends who started balding early & for the most part they are all kind of ho-um about it. I mean really, what are you going to do about it other than shave your head or get plugs?

  16. WhiteNoise says:

Poor old Will, his balding is very ageing – he’s starting to resemble the really worst of the Windsors, Edward. Not good. I think he could do ‘bald’, he’s very athletic and sporty, and seems to have a reasonable shaped skull. I really do think anything would be better than what’s perched so timidly and sparingly on top of his head at the moment – and it’s just going to get worse…

  17. REALIST says:

I almost missed Camilla-ugh. She looks like a combination of the White Rabbit AND the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. And the color scheme-very Easter-y.

Wasn’t her reaction to the engagement weird? “Absolutely wicked!” Being Camillla, she probably knows something we don’t know…

  18. munchies says:

bald look is not for him because he got an oblong and a little longer face. that thin hair is good enough. no need for more hair and thats actually practical- less shampoo

  19. Henriette says:

I hope he does the almost-shave thing: like a good short buzz cut. Poor guy; hard to have the world watch as you go bald. He seems like a pretty decent person, too. Many, many, many, many worse things a prince could do that lose his hair!

  20. hebc says:

Everyone’s so disapointed that he’s grown out of his hunk phase, well look at his dad-he’s lucky he had what he had. Even if Diana was his mother.

  21. JulieM says:

The bald doesn’t bother me at all. He can’t help it, why not embrace it.

I find the yellow teeth and chapped lips very unattractive, though. Those, he can help.

I don’t think Katie gives a rats ass how much hair he has, as long as she gets the crown.

  22. Wendy City says:

Does anyone remember when Matthew McConahay was going bald? I vaguely remember an interview he did about a new product he used. It was years ago, but now he has a head full of thick hair and it doesnt look like plugs a la Jeremy Piven or a wig like John Travolta.

  23. kristin says:

I don’t think he would look good shaved bald – – the guy seems to have a sort of pointy head. I think super-short would look best.

  24. kristin says:

Also, my dad had lost a lot of his hair by his 30s, and my brother-in-law is losing hair in his mid-20s. Both of them were/are fairly depressed about it. Because, yeah, there’s not a think you can do about it. And contrary to what we women might believe, guys TOTALLY care about that stuff. It makes them feel old and unattractive.

  25. tj says:

he has a large and long face so i doubt the bald is going to look very good on him. btw, this tyoe of baldness which is prevalent in his family is another reason why many think prince harry is not charles’ biological son, he still has a very full head of hair when most of them started losing it by his age like William did.

  26. Kiska says:

I’m all for shaving the bird hair off. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done for those big chompers he has.

  27. WhiteNoise says:

@tj – Spencer hair is not prone to the same misfortunes. Di’s brother in his 50s now I think still has a full head of hair, as did her father. Also, Harry now looks so like Charles (the close-set eyes, the mouth, the same nose) and Philip that that rumour is kind of gone out the window. I think Harry just got lucky on the hair front.

  28. dread pirate cuervo says:

Male baldness comes from the mother’s side, not the father’s. I think Wills is past the Rogaine zone & into Hair Club For Men territory. I had a bf once who used powdered hair to cover up his bald spot. I think it was called Toppik. Hair in a can. LOL

  29. Peter says:

I never realized what a large and long face he had until I saw that 4th photo. It’s like his features, nose and jaw in particular, kept growing well into his twenties.

@dread: That’s not true: baldness can come from either side. It’s an old wive’s tale that it comes only from the mother’s side (Also: look at Harry). He has the Windsor bald spot a la Prince Edward.

  30. bee says:

Lol at the headline… All this baldness talk reminds me: HGF needs more Jason Statham!!!

  31. Bobby the K says:

How tall is he and/or how short is Camilla?

  32. PleeFlaUsA says:

Screw the bald spot. He needs to invest in some Ultra medicated chapstick & some teeth whitening.

  33. girlygirl410 says:

Did anybody else notice how red his hair is in that last pic?

I suggest a teeth whitener and that will distract from the hair.

  34. Matt says:

As a late-twenties man who is thinning on top, I can tell you that some men are definitely sensitive about this!!

Whilst I agree that a bald head does look sexy on some men, on others it just looks plain wrong! I have heard that Rogaine doesn’t really work, there are a few products that stop male pattern baldness, but again it doesnt work on every man.

I am going to have to make a decision about shaving it off in the next couple of years and I am NOT looking forward to it :-/

  35. Liana says:

I’m fine with receding hairlines, bald spots, bald… I don’t care about someone’s hair, I care about them as a person. My husband has a ton of hair (long heavy metal hair), but if he lost it all or shaved it all off tomorrow, I wouldn’t care (I might be surprised, but it wouldn’t change my feelings for him.)

  36. Hakura says:

I didn’t realize that all male baldness (genetically inherited) is from the mother’s side.

    ITA that he needs to shave it. It’s sort of a shame that he’s lost the handsome factor. (At least in my opinion). Sort of went downhill fast ^^;;

  37. Isabel says:

    Horseshoe head is THE WORST.

My ex was prematurely balding in high school. When he used Rogaine, his hair felt like sticky pubes. BARF.

  38. hellen says:

He needs to just cut it very short. No need to shave it all off, just minimize the flyaway aspect. Yes, he’s beginning to look like Edward, at least on top of his head.

  39. alexandra says:

Mmmm He is a nice tall drink of water

  40. sally says:

Clinging to these scraps just looks pathetic and aging. Shave it or try the rogaine, but this look has got to go.

  41. FatJennyFromBurgerBlock says:

There is an old theory that balding is hereditary by your mother’s genetics, which is INCORRECT. It’s been discovered that balding is hereditary by your mother AND your father’s genes….not just your mother’s side.

  42. MyCatLoves TV says:

Given the resources William has at his disposal, I suspect he has tried (in vain evidently) whatever is on the market to grow hair on his spot. I think the fact that he has quit trying to mask it means he knows he’s tried everything short of plugs and he figures “hell with it.”

  43. Jesus Christ Superstar says:

Meh. He just needs to embrace the bald. While I was in college my hottest professors were bald/balding, so a full head of hair isn’t really a requirement to be attractive.

  44. crab says:

OMG I thought Camilla was the Queen!! Not good!! I don’t think he would look good bald, his face is too long!

  45. Snarky_Pup says:

I once worked for a man who was balding. He took his annual vacation and claimed he was going white water rafting. When he returned, he had very obvious hair plugs and told us all that his raft had flipped! Of course, nobody believed him. Then there is my next door neighbor, who just keeps doing the comb over thing. He has the really long stringy mullet and then the two strands of hair plastered to the top. Makes him look like Gollum. Yes, I am for shaving it off and going for the complete bald look. William needs all the help he can get. He’s not aging well. Harry got the good genes in that family.

  46. Seany D says:

It’s time to shave the head. Also, William: sorry for your loss.

  47. kelly says:

Oh GOD why doesn’t he shave that bloody thing???

I love my husband’s slick bald head and seriously, he looked weird with hair anyway. A lot of guys do.

    SHAVE IT ALREADY.

  48. Messenger says:

the royals are not all that great looking to begin with….name one in the direct lineage who is…that being said, these two boys (will and harry) had a stellar mother and whoever picked up the slack after her death did an equally stellar job. he seems like a confident, well adjusted twenty something. if it ever becomes an issue for him, i am sure he will deal with it accordingly.

  49. Hakura says:

@Isabel (#37)- Horseshoe head is THE WORST.
My ex was prematurely balding in high school. When he used Rogaine, his hair felt like sticky pubes. BARF.

LMAO. Horseshoe head. I’ve never heard it referred to that way before.

And I need to thank you for that… unfortunate… mental picture your ‘sticky pubes’ description brought on. No really. THANKS. x_x

  50. Emily says:

Just buy a pair of lifts. A friend of mine’s had a bald spot for as long as I’ve known him (he’s 23 now), but I always forget it’s there because he’s so tall that not many people can see the top of his head.

  51. bald men are sexy balding men are not. What he needs to do is trim it really short and be done with it.
