My God she looks huge, kinda scary.
Steven Klein looks like a midget next to her.

    Like Katie & Tom.

At least she showed up, but ignoring the ‘lessers’ = snob.
    Anyone surprised?

Those peasants should be pissing themselves with pride that Dame Paltrow deigned to even look at them.

Whats the problem with using horses, donkeys & mules for dog food? They can’t all be pets and used for farm work.

God there are much better causes out there.

I used to love her–back when she did “Shakespeare in Love.” I defended her agst attacks from my friends who thought she was phony. Alas. Now she’s snubbing all of us, and I agree with those who suggested she should’ve stopped short of telling us who to vote for, but rather stuck to the point that voting is key. :?

I like the dress, but it’s a little short for a woman of her age. I’ve said it before with one of her other WAY TOO SHORT dresses…you’re not Miley honey, don’t dress like her

Nevermind her – if a guest decides not to mingle at a party it’s not good manners – but if the hosts stay away from the rest of their guests then they should be damned to Etiquette Hell forthwith.

I know her personally and to say she is cold is to be kind. Her mother is a joy though.

They were probably shooting up heroin inside. Hence, the anti-social behavior. Her midget friends looks EFFED UP!

Ok I’m TOTALLY not defending her, because I don’t like her, but when I read how she was in an off-limits area the whole time and had security guarding that and didn’t have to mingle with anyone, it sounded like my idea of a perfect party. But then I’m having a really antisocial day and I have days like that.

Then again, you go to a party, you really should probably at least make the round once just to say hi.

On the OTHER hand, I would imagine it would get annoying getting the reactions from people when you’re a celebrity. Kissing your ass and shit. That would get old.

    Nevermind me.

Forgive her, she named her children Apple and Moses for godsakes…..I think she has enough problems. (her time has come and past…she was only good looking when she first appeared w/Brad, circa Seven….her personality then took over her face, i.e. there was a girl I met in the 8th grade, we’ll call her Beth Mary. On the first dy of school I coudn’t stop looking at her because I thought she was so beautiful ( I’m not a lesbian,I just appreciate beauty ) anyhoosers, as time went on, I found she was a very mean girl ( not to me, I’d kick her ass ) to the slower and not so pretty girls and boys. About midway through the year, I remember looking at her and wondering how in gods name could I of ever thought or found her to be beautiful. She looked to be like a haggered old b/witch. THAT is how I feel towards Paltrow. ) Personality is key and no amount of make-up can do just that, make-up for unkindness.

This wasp is so predictable. Couldn’t she throw us a curve every once in a while and show a little humility?

And for the record, I think it’s a great cause. Not sure how it became the Hamptons issue of the moment, but I’m glad they managed to direct funds toward something more significant than their wardrobes.

  16. Snowblood says:

@ Cara, awesome post! Great comparison, I pick that impression up, too, now that you mention it.

What I want to know is why was she flipping out and crying “I can’t see, I can’t see?” What couldn’t she see? Why was she struck momentarily blind? WTF was she on about, there, anyway?

Yeah, Gwyneth is a super-snob, this is for damn sure. Smugly superior and self-important like crazy, there should be a special club for her type in hollywood – a few honorary members would be Paltrow, Anniston and Madonna, to rattle off the first ones coming to my head this afternoon. Oh! And you know that insufferable fake-punk chick, whats-her-name, god it’s killing me I can’t recall her name right now – she likes to dye streaks of her hair pink, always talks about how important she is? Young singer? This is driving me nuts, what is that girl’s NAME?? gah.

She’s not a wasp. She’s 1/2 Jewish. FYI. But her ethnicity is not the problem.

I know it sounds mean but I think Gwyneth Paltrow is the epitome female celebrity butterface and Matthew McConaughey is the male version. Very nice body but below average looks.

    How to mix a Gwyneth

Start with a glass of Martha Stewart
Add a double shot of Liz Hurley
Splash with a dash of Madonna
Shake over ice and pour into a highball glass. Must be a pure crystal glass accented with 24k gold. Garnish with an olive straight from Greece, it cant be SEEN with a store bought olive.

I wasnt trying to be funny or disgusting Im totally serious. We should stop projecting our western ways on other cultures. Just because in our society horses, dogs etc are considered pretty domesticated pets and for some reason considered more deserving to live and less desirable for dinner than cows and pigs doesn’t mean that other cultures considering them as food is wrong. What makes a horse so much better than a cow? Just because its prettier? Puhlease.

Who would want to hang out and mingle with the overrated ice queen, anyhow? Her acting is mediocre at best, she’s not exactly a fashion icon, and I could give a crap about whatever cause-of-the-week she wants to endorse.

Security barring people from meeting Gwyneth, omg what a big loss

You know some cultures consider it vile that we consume pig as they are considered filthy. And how about Indian cultures who consider it sacrilege to eat Cow? But Im sure you had a bit of bacon or a burger lately. Who are we to dictate what animals are worthy for the dinner table and those who are cute enough to be spared?

“We save primarily from slaughter and rehabilitate…re home wonderful horses and ponies.” Sounds like a great cause to me.
Horse meat slaughter for consumption by humans is illegal in the US. All three slaughter plants in the U.S. have closed.
China took dog and cat off their menus for the Olympics so they didn’t offend all westerners.
Nan; I have a point also, I am entitled to my opinion.

  35. journey says:

the worst part of slaughtering horses for food is the cruelty they endure before they’re dead. there’s no need to torture animals, at least give them a quick and humane death. i won’t go into the details, but it’s truly horrific.

and as liberal as i am, and as much as i admire multi-culturalism, just because a foreign group does something doesn’t make it a rosey good thing. following your reasoning genoicides are good things and we should just accept them.

  36. Aspen says:

Well, frankly, those of us who went vegetarian because of our revulsion at the idea of contributing to the torturous and inhumane methods that the U.S. uses to slaughter animals in industrial meat production…we think all of you are just nuts beyond measure to put that nasty stuff in your mouth. That said, I’m sort of with milk on this one…why horses?

How about saving the cows and pigs and chickens from the torture they endure? How about raising money to support the organic family farms that raise and slaughter their livestock in a truly humane and healthy fashion?

It would seem to me that putting your celebrity and money and influence behind that would be a much more useful and productive pursuit.

Its great for Gwyneth to do this equine rescue benefit, but at $2500 a plate, you would think she could take the time to do at least a quick mingle and thank you! At this price tag per plate, i’m sure the attendees were quite civil. This is not cool of her.
