Jessica Simpson’s foray into country music sure isn’t going well. Her concerts are booked at D-list venues and aren’t selling well. She’s not getting press coverage for anything but her relationship with Tony Romo. And now it looks like Jessica was either banned, not invited, or for some reason chose not to attend last night’s Country Music Awards. Of course they were hosted by Romo’s ex-girlfriend, Carrie Underwood, so that might have had something to do with it.
Former pop singer/actress/wife Jessica Simpson just added another stellar achievement to her disintegrating resume, the CMAs’ persona non grata.
In a last ditch effort to save her career, the “Dukes of Hazzard” star released a country album earlier this year — so it would have made sense to make an appearance at last night’s show. Unfortunately, the Carrie Underwood-hosted CMAs had no time to have Tony Romo’s current girlfriend perform, present or sit in the bleachers, since they had already filled their ranks with tried and true country artists like … Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Lil Wayne!
But don’t worry, Ashlee Simpson’s sister doesn’t need the entire country music establishment on her side, tonight she’s performing at an Indian casino near Ontario, Calif. and we’re told 50% of tix are still available.

Ouch. That article is quite a slam. Especially the part about how Simpson is only former things. Though they’re technically not wrong – and considering the way her country music career is going, it appears that TMZ is right and it’ll be another former on Jessica’s resume.
It seems really odd that Jess didn’t go to the awards. It’s possible she didn’t get an invitation because of Underwood, but I’d guess it’s just as likely that the CMA’s producers don’t consider her a legitimate country artist. Obviously there were other celebrities there that aren’t in country music though, so maybe Jessica has pissed off the wrong people. There’s also the chance that she was invited and chose not to attend. Perhaps she was avoiding Carrie Underwood, or maybe she just didn’t get the importance of the awards show to her future. Either way it was another foot in the grave for her career.

She actually has an amazing voice (or maybe she HAD an amazing voice).. a lot of range and belt.. Should have kept her focus on the pop stuff. She has the right look for it… Shame, shame…
I still think her dad is just an amature that does not know what he is doing or how to successfully manage her career. If Jessica was smart and had a backbone then she would have fired her dad long time a go and hired a professional to represent her because she does have a decent voice.
I don’t understand why she wasn’t invited. She is a Counry artist now. She could have sat in the back row.

She played live on the radio a last week and she was pretty good. she played a casino in the area and I would have gone if I could.
Being married to Nick Lachey was the best thing that ever happened to her. Newlyweds was what made her a household name. She ditched her career when she ditched Nick.

I called it on her joke of an attempt to break into country music. Can’t slide into the old boys’ club on a notion. Just because American Idol has been working out lately doesn’t mean some Vegas reject Miss America singer is going to be accepted like that. The Country Music industry here is a snotty, rigged, pissy little clique, and a form of prostitution, that mostly depends on who you know, who your daddy is, and who falls in love with you and who you can stroke. People marry their way in. They’ll do anything. But they all laugh at The Jessica.

I have mixed emotions with Jessica Simpson. I loved her first CD, being the teeny-bopper that I was, but now I think she needs to stop making that BS she calls music. The song “Let Him Fly” was pretty decent. But now it’s like I wish she’d disappear MORE than her sister Ashlee.
I agree with others in saying she needs to dump her dad as her manager. Don’t do movies anymore, don’t sing country, and don’t talk about your effin relationship. It’s simple!

Couple things – I get why the people who were “non country” got invited OTHER than Lil Wayne (Reese for ‘Walk the Line’, Nicole is obvious since she is married to Keith Urban, and Hugh Jackson is promoting a huge movie ‘Australia’ with Nicky, is Autralian and is rumored to have long been friends with Nic, Keith and other stars from their country).
I have to say that I agree with the whole D-List singer thing. And why pray tell is she D-List? Something about the fact that her DADDY is setting her up for failure by getting contracts at tribal casinos with tickets from $75 (nosebleeds) to $175 (decent seats.)
I would pay to see her because I DO believe she has talent and I would love to see her succeed, but t didn’t even cost me that to see big time stars like Kenny Chesney.
Pass. It’s really too bad.

Sad to see her mishandled so. She does have a decent voice and a personality, that while people love to dish on, is evocative of the salt of the earth folk that don’t put on airs and use simple and pure terms to state their thoughts and feelings. I still root for her but her father will cluster it up for sure.
I dont like how she acts like a complete airhead. Actually, at this point I’m not even sure if shes even acting….maybe she is genuinely this ditzy/brainless?

I believe he was there to perform with Kid Rock. Not sure if he actually did perform with him or not due to I do not watch anything that deals with country music. He probably split after his appearance.

In other news, Jessica really seems like she’s had a nose job. It looks like they narrowed the bridge. She looked more attractive on Newlyweds and that era was the only time I was a fan of hers.

Her performing is painful – the facial expressions alone are reason enough not to watch her – although there may have been some Carrie pettiness involved with her not being invited – just cos you call yourself country doesn’t make you country.
