It’s not like today’s earlier fashion post about Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens’ Venice photocall outfits was a big winner, but we still have lots of photos of them, so here you go. These are pics from last night’s Venice Film Festival premiere of (no joke) Spring Breakers. I seriously don’t understand why this film is being vetted in serious film festivals. Is this some kind of post-modern joke? Well, James Franco is involved, so the answer is obviously “ART. YES.” Honestly, though, reviews are coming out for the film, and the word everyone is using is “raunchy”. Ew.
For the premiere, Selena wore this Versace Atelier gown that I… don’t hate? I don’t love it on her, but it’s not as gaudy and age-inappropriate as that D&G dress from the photocall. I think she looks cute in the color – pale pink is flattering on her. It does feel “too mature” for her, but maybe I’m still seeing her as so child-like because of her baby face. Honestly, though… this whole gown and styling for Selena feels very Eva Longoria.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens wore Temperley London, a favorite label of Duchess Kate and Angelina Jolie. I actually thought “Jolie-esque” when I first saw this, not because Vanessa looks particularly like Angelina, but because of the sack-y nature of the gown, I think. Jolie loves a loose sack, and I guess Vanessa is down with that too.

Two big reasons: Selena has a baby face and gangly body, so she *looks* like a teenager. Also, as far as I know (I don’t really follow the tweeny crowd’s gossip) Selena hasn’t has a big cheating scandal.

Too mature. She looks like she’s playing dress up. I blame the baby face. She’ll have that baby face even when she’s old. Google Shirley Temple and you’ll see what I mean. She needs to play to her strengths, not her weaknesses when it comes to dressing up.
Also? Vanessa looks like a real life vampire. I have not idea why that is.

Do baby faces generally age well? Because I was wondering whether it might serve her well in the future.
Now, I’m generally not *this* bitchy, but I think Selena really looks dreadful here. In some of these pictures her face looks like a swollen potato. Either make a choice between cute or grown up, don’t get stuck in some weird kind of limbo.

I love the dresses- all of them! Selena is looking heavier to me (in a good way!) and her body looks feminine and womanly in that dress. Maybe the slight filling out/curves will make her look more adult?
Also I’m starting to feel kind of bad for dark-haired whats-her-name in the corner. She’s getting cut out of all the pictures! If I were her, I’d insist on standing in the middle of all group shots so I couldn’t be cropped out/ignored.

The first thing I thought was “wow they are really going out of their way to cut the fourth girl out of the picture.” Especially in the first picture where they aren’t even centered because of cutting out the other girl (I don’t know who she is honestly but she’s still apparently a principle cast member and she be treated as such imo). I’m loving that picture with Franco’s arm around Selena. They both look like they’re going to cut a beeotch. I keep making up dialog between them and it has completely made my morning while i wait for my new shoes to arrive…(what else is one supposed to do at work?)

Is it just me or does Selena REALLY look pregnant? Her face is getting puffier with every pic I see of her. He boobs look a lot bigger, as does the rest of her body. I’m pretty sure if you go back and see the pics of them on set for this movie Selena was thinner than Vanessa….

Are you mistaking Selena and Vanessa? Selena rarely if ever does the duck face pose, while that’s all Vanessa knows how to do. Selena is a better actress and singer and unless she’s out with Beiber you rarely see her papped. Vanessa calls the paps on herself, frequently and shows up to EVERYTHING.
Selena keeps her stuff locked down generally is at least clothed whe nshe leaves the house.
and how is lip-bitey mouth breather a better actress? She didn’t grow up in the Disney wheelhouse and has had more diverse projects sure, but Selena also is quietly maturing and keeping her fans as she translates. (and in a few yeas i’m sure i will be eating my words but that is then and not now)
I DO however agree that KStew is a better actress than Vanessa-granted i’m pretty sure I am as well….

Selena looks beautiful in this color and the gown is flattering, looks great. Vanessa’s face looks beautiful, too, but in a few shots, the dress seems to eliminate her waist? Also, I’m definitely NOT a fan of the loose, open-front, breast-baring look at all, but otherwise, Vanessa’s gown is lovely. The solid gold dress is, well, not a nice color, and also the blue is very shout-out looking compared to the two subtle dresses.

Right, I have thought this before and I will think it out loud again. I am calling it: James Franco is a smack addict.
Look at his skin, its like this sour milk look to it. Pale and greasy, more of a grey than a pink. He always looks like this, along with the odd heroin pink rings that are under his eyes.
EVERYTIME (well, almost everytime!) I see a picture of him he looks like he is all smacked out. If he isn’t now, he has been doing it, smackheads never lose that “look” and the pink undereye rings.
