Here are pictures of Katie Holmes at last night’s afterparty for the opening of Dead Accounts on Broadway. I decided that showing Katie’s happy, beaming face in the above photograph would prepare you for a full shot of her dress, which is below, and it is atrocious. First though, here’s an update on Suri, who is back in town after allegedly visiting Tiny Tyrant Tom Cruise, who somehow managed to be on the All You Need Is Kill set over the entire weekend. Wherever she went (and I’m still not certain), Suri is back strutting the streets with Katie, who was wearing a really great red coat a few days ago. Suri almost lost her favorite stuffed rabbit, but it was retrieved just in time before their cab pulled away. That poor bunny could really use a run through the washing machine, but that’s just the germaphobe in me talking.
Now onto Katie’s appearance last night. I actually do like the fabric of this dress in theory, but the cut is quite matronly, and Katie could have pulled off a more youthful look for her big celebration night. Also, whatever’s going on in the “bib” area is really a deal breaker. So awful. Otherwise, she looks good with her long, flowing, and lovely hair. The makeup (especially the eyeliner) is a bit heavy-handed, but I’m assuming that a lot of it is leftover from her stage makeup for the evening.
Really though, I’m so happy for Katie. She broke away from Tom, and she’s finally back to doing what she wanted to do — act onstage. Here’s a photo from the curtain call with Josh Hamilton, Norbert Leo Butz, and Jayne Houdyshell as well. Katie needs to get with this Norbert dude even if it’s only a fling.

I love the dress too, the japanese style of it with the kimono cut and blocks and tiny flower prints is very pretty! If the tights had been a little more sheer, her outfit would have been perfect!

I don’t like the bib part (wish it were just the same as the majority of the rest of the dress), but otherwise, it’s nice. I also think her makeup looks fine. She looks good.

I think she’s wearing them Japanese pressure panty hose that squeeze your legs to make them look skinnier! She has less of a case of “daikon ashi” in these pics! I can actually see ankles!

i get the sense that they like her as a person and want her to succeed. but they arent too sure or truly convinced about her talents just yet.

Katie seems deranged..both mentally & fashion-wise. That Manically weird toothy smile should be eradicated. Never thought she was that exceptional to begin with. Katie & Nicole K. were both ruined by the $$cientology Cruise Cult. Nicole, however, is a much better actress than Katie. Tom’s first wife..Mimi Rogers seems the most sane or at least, invisible to the media.

I don’t really know how to say this, but “facially” she looks much better since she left TC. Does that make sense? Like, I know when they were together she never wore makeup so that makes a difference, but she just looks so much younger and less tired/stressed since she got divorced. This is literally the best she’s looked in years. The dress is fug, though.
BTW so my roommate’s parents came to visit for Thanksgiving and I saw they had one of the Jack Reacher books in their car, so I asked if they were planning to see the movie and they both went on an epic tirade about how TC is all wrong for the role and they’re boycotting the movie. I was dying laughing!

I actually think the make-up is pretty bad. Her face and neck are a different color and she looks pretty washed out.
The dress is ok – it doesn’t seem special enough for the night.
Her reviews have been lukewarm at best, although a few were fairly scathing and others more positive.
Someone else said it best – she is terribly objectionable, but she’s not talented or exciting either.
Bums me out that she gets work for her name rather than her talent. There is far too much of that in this world.

I saw the play a few nights ago. Holmes was kind of bad. Her voice was obviously tired and she was straining. She was also miscast. She and the other TV/Film actor Judy Greer were the weak links and it was obvious they both had little stage experience compared to the others. Thank goodness for Houdysell and especially Butz.
Not to mention the play is pretty pointless. Some funny lines but not much else.

I agree. The smile says it all. She looks like a huge weight has been lifted off her shoulders. I’m very glad for her. She’s bound to dress a little crazy, that seems like a post-divorce thing and I wouldn’t be surprised if Tom had absolutely dictated everything she wore.

Supposedly that dress used to be her grandmother’s or so I read elsewhere that makes a lot more sense.
As for the reviews well a lot of people thought the play was bad overall so it really didn’t matter about the performances too much but overall I say people thought she was okay.
This is the theater they don’t pander to stars in their reviews….

Yes, the responses here are pretty mixed. I definitely don’t like the dress. Don’t like the color, the bib part, or the mixed up print, which doesn’t do her justice. Also, please do away with the black tights….wow, at least not for an opening night kind of thing. I could have done a much better job dressing her and I have no credentials. However, I am glad to see her doing well and out of the grip of that man, which, by the way, probably earned her a few $ million having married him.

I like and don’t like the dress, but I don’t mind what she wears a lot of the time, I always think she looks better than most. You see a lot of stars on the red carpet, or attending a lot of functions, but you always see Katie casual, just doing day to day things.
She must have done something right, got 2 standing ovations, in the play. I think one for the box wine scene, and a rant about Wall Street.

I like the dress on her except the bib part. She looks okay, but not as cute as years ago. Maybe just older. I like her better with some bangs maybe. It’s photos like this that I can never get over her nose job. Her nose kind of goes sideways or curves more to one side the way the shaved it and thinned it. I saw her in a movie on TV the other day when she was younger with her cute wider nose. She had such an expressive face and beautiful lips back then. I’ve never liked her nose job.

Baby steps and A for effort. I think you’ll see Katie mature into a reasonably good stage actress over the next 5-10 years. As far as her dress style, she looks fine, but it’s her inner radiance that is shining through – the best thing she did was leave that horrible little prick. She and Suri will have a great life from now on.

Jayna , Katie has the same nose I think but she’s slimmer now, she needs at least 10-15 lbs. When you see her in the videos for H Stern jewellery, she’s so beautiful in the closeups, the same in Anne Taylor video.

What is that weird bumpy patch under her right nostril? It kind of looks like a patch of fever blisters. I’ve seen Katie with herpes-looking fever blisters before, but never that high up. Maybe the stress of the show brought them on.
Her smile is big, her hair is shiny, her eyes are flashing…I’d say she looks a lot happier these days.
