Camilla Belle slammed her old nemesis Taylor Swift during the Twitter feud too

wenn22575280

I’m sorry for all the catch-up posts having to do with the Taylor Swift-Nicki Minaj drama. The whole thing has provided us with a week’s worth of solid gossip, a mainstream backlash against arguably the most popular singer in America, and what will become waves of damage control from Team Swifty for weeks, perhaps even months, to come. There were also so many stories within just a 72 hour period that I’m still playing catch-up as to the extent of the fallout.

For what it’s worth, I think Swifty absolutely did the right thing by apologizing to Nicki Minaj and I applaud Swifty for the depth of her apology. It wasn’t simply an apology – it was an acknowledgment by Swifty that she had completely misread the situation and misunderstood the argument Minaj was making. In the wake of Swifty’s apology, we are perhaps supposed to forget that Katy Perry rather brilliantly angled herself into the situation and finally threw a punch against her nemesis, Taylor Swift.

But what many of us forgot was that Katy wasn’t always Taylor Swift’s #1 Nemesis. Remember when Taylor used to have a major hate-on for Camilla Belle? Camilla “stole” Joe Jonas away from Swifty. Except I never really believed that’s what happened – I think Joe Jonas was “dating” Swifty and he dumped her over the phone and then he started up with Camilla Belle. Maybe it happened too quickly, maybe Taylor didn’t know that she was facing a lifetime of being dumped on the phone, I don’t know. But Taylor really went after Camilla, lyrically and socially. So when Katy Perry stepped into Taylor and Nicki’s grudge match, Camilla saw her opportunity too. First she retweeted Katy’s tweet, then this happened:

What’s funny – in a minor way – is that Camilla really could have said it BETTER because Katy’s original tweet might have been a brilliant strategic move, but it was an inarticulate mess. But if Camilla wants to spill the tea, let’s spill the tea, girl.

So there you go… Taylor’s enemies are coming for her. What’s her next move? More deflections to her boyfriend? And what if that falls apart? Because you know it will.

    And who is she?

    • Allie says:

Did you even read the article?

As much as I’m sick of reading about this feud, I am loving the fall out of Taylor. I don’t think it will long term damage her career, but it’s nice to see after like a year straight of the media kissing her butt. I want to see more people coming out of the wood work! Give me ex boyfriends and former enemies!

      • Timbuktu says:

I did read the article, but I still don’t know who she is, other than the girl who stole TS’s boyfriend.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah who is she? Eh. Who cares. I love being old and un-hip.

      • blue marie says:

        Ha, me too Kitten.

      • Itzblissy says:

I can honestly say I don’t know more than 3 of Taylor swift’s songs, but I knew way too much about her just from reading celebitchy. But I still don’t get why people hate her… She has a lot of friends? Argh why is that bad? She likes to post pictures of them? Argh what 20 year old don’t? You should see my younger cousins’s facebook’s… Or that she’s bland? Considering there are post about her every week… I’m not sure how boring she actually is. I can honestly say when Christmas comes I’m more likely to buy a Taylor swift cd for my nieces than any of these other pop stars. Even with all this massage coverage … I have yet to see any drunk stupidness from her or heard she was doing drugs or any of her bits hanging out. I mean what more do we want in a pop star for kids? More mylie Cyrus? Or Katy “cotton candy boobs” perry?

        I just don’t get it….

      • npk says:

I don’t know who she is either but if she has a beef with Taylor , don’t wait to dog pile on someone else’s beef. That’s weak.

    • LB says:

Who cares who she is? Camila’s relative lack of popularity doesn’t make Taylor’s hypocrisy ok. Taylor tears other women down but cries victim when others do it, in an even milder fashion, to her.

It’s easy for her to get away with too because she claims its simply her getting her feelings out through her work. That’s fine and all but then she has to try a lot harder to not make her targets so obvious to others. There wasn’t ever any need to even hint it beyond the need to generate publicity and to publicly shame the other person.

      • Dvaria says:

The lyrics to the song about Camila were :
“She’s not a saint and she’s not what you think
        She’s an actress, whoa
She’s better known for the things that she does
        On the mattress, whoa”

Taylor wasn’t all girl power and sisterhood back then…

      • Bea says:

Those lyrics are a new low for TS.

      • Marianne says:

Taylor has talked about her earlier work though and I think she said something along the lines about how some of them were problematic.

      • Pondering thoughts says:

        @ Dvaria

Considering those lyrics one should reconsider if one really gives such crap to children and especially girls. Does one really want to teach one’s children that Swifty’s behaviour (high school drama queen trashtalking others) is okay. If she worked in an office and made such allegations against any of her colleagues she would get fired for harrassment and slander and such.

I really don’t know why Swifty gets away with such behaviour.

Would you let your daughter get away with such behaviour? Would anybody want his children to learn to behave like Swifty?

    • Boston Green Eyes says:

I’m with you, Sonia. I don’t know who she is either. But I usually don’t know many of the people written about on most gossip sites. I’m an old soul like that.

    • perplexed says:

She’s an actress. Taylor even says so directly in the song about her.

      • Timbuktu says:

        Never heard the song. 🙂

On the other hand, what’s the general consensus: do people thin TS really writes all of her songs herself (well, the ones that she claims she does)? I don’t find her music particularly good, but apparently, lots of people do, just wondering if a 25-year-old is really that prolific…

      • Mltpsych says:

Taylor has been writing songs since she was a young girl and the song “Better than Revenge” is the one supposedly about Camilla. She has said that she wrote the song when she was 18 and has since realized another woman cannot “steal” a man away from another. I can’t help it, I think Taylor is talented and has had to grow up in public whic is not easy.

    • Shambles says:

Camilla is just living proof that Taylor has always been mean and overly dramatic, and has never been afraid to use her personal drama to make money. “Bad Blood,” while in itself an epic clusterf*ck of cattiness, hypocrisy, and dummy-ness, is nothing new for queen special snowflake.

With that said, I’m still face-palm-ing over the fact that this 11th grade Twitter war is still happening.

    • melodycalder says:

One of the best songs taylor ever did, better than revenge was about her, you must listen to it, it’s so mean. She’s an actress. … woah! But she’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress. … oh I loved it. So revealing about Taylor’s nature.

    • Bridget says:

Camilla Belle is a “mocktress” who figured she’d jump in and get a little extra notice. And now she’s just cemented the label of “she’s the girl Taylor Swift called a slut in that song”. Streisand Effect.

I mean, it was a song written years ago, about a fight over JOE JONAS. I have a hard time working up any outrage.

    • kimbers says:

Who is this weirdo Camilla with the crazy eyes? That was rhetorical. We dont care about some dumb girl who fucked a jonas brother for fame…

      • Original T.C. says:

And the infiltration of the Taylor Swift fans to Celebitchy begins. Wow. If this is how her fans defend her, by malacious mean-girl attacks on any one Swifty places a target on, that is scary. All these parents who allow their 10-17 year old girls to idolize her because she doesn’t come across as “sexual” seem to miss the point that raising a female child involves instilling other values other that just “sex is bad”.

    • LA Juice says:

Lovely! +1. for the record, I don’t think it was “Brilliant” of katy Perry to insert herself- I think it shes fdumb as rocks and especially that showed her true colors. Katy has argued/maintained that Taylor is the mean girl, whose sabotaging her, and whose ganging up on poor middle shark, but by sticking her sharky nose into a “feud” she had no business being a part of, Katy UNEQUIVOCALLY showed her hatred of Taylor, and affirmed every argument taylor has made claiming Katy was the mean girl.

this whole thing demonstrates that Katy is the biggest cuntessa. And she did it to herself. If she had any class and no axe to grind, she would have let Taylor falter on her own. No one can ever say Katy doesn’t directly and indirectly attack Taylor now. She has shown her willingness to attack and to pile on something she has no business involving herself.

and MOST IMPORTANTLY i am saddened my my own behavior, because I know way too much about this irrelevant shit, in lives of people I do not know. I need help. and a bottle of wine. mostly wine,

  2. kcarp says:

So can we take for fact now that Taylor Swift is a passive aggressive B**** who has a bad haircut? We have all been there.

I think instead of talking about all of Taylor’s girl fights we should be protesting her purse choices.

    • K says:

Haha @ the purse choice comment

    • zzzz says:

on a superficial note, her hair really does bother me. for someone so wealthy, she should really reevaluate her hairstyle choices.

      • Bej says:

I’m going to be even more superficial. In the pic of TS wearing the black overalls, her eyes are so squinty and on an angle, that I can believe she is a catty mean girl. The eyes say it all to me…

    • Ennie says:

I like the fact that she is not wearing tons of extensions.

    • laura says:

I am tired to read all the criticisms about Taylor Swift, maybe she is a little passive agressive but weren’t us all when we were in our 20’s? this girl is in her mid twenties and had to face fame at such a young age, she handled herself very well for such a young girl.
She is a good example to me as she does not promote sex and shows grace and respect towards all her fans. Give me Taylor Swift over Ariana Grande or Nicky Minaj, Katie Perry and co anytime!
It is so easy to criticize behind our computers but I think the girl has talent and she write her own songs (not like so many artists), she is also very beautiful so maybe it is where the hate comes from?
I like the girl and she is a good example for our next generation…

      • JaneS says:

Yes, because being an A-grade mean girl and hopeless hypocrite is a great example to the next generation.

      • kanyekardashian says:

She didn’t have to “face fame” – she chased it like a cheetah. She got what she wanted, she could handle it classier. You’ve never seen someone like Jewel EVER go after anyone for any reason, and that woman has tons more musical talent than Taylor could ever hope to have.

      • laura says:

Really? mean? do you call mean a 25 years old who has been taking time to visit young sick children, helping them by giving donations and a lot of her fans (I know you will say it is for promotion…)
Do you know her personally? that is infuriating all of this because she wrote some “mean” songs about other rich and famous people. At least she has some guts to do so, kuddo to her. A lot of jealousy here…
She started writing song at a very young age as she was passionate about it not to be famous…

      • Pondering thoughts says:

        @ laura

I agree with you. Not only does Swifty behave like a bullying high school drama queen. But the really sad thing is that she uses her bullying to get herself in the news. Sadly, so far she has gotten away with that.

Just imagina any 25-year-old working in an office would say the same things about her colleague that Swifty said about K.Perry / Camilla Belle and the others. Imagine an office clerk would publicly claim her colleague slept with the boss to get a promotion. This office clerk would not just be fired but also dragged to the courts.

I have no idea how anybody could have any tolerance for such behaviour.
And at age 25 it is time to grow up.

    • TotallyBiased says:

She needs to make-up with Elizabeth Olsen so she can get the hot purse hook-ups. 😉 I’m sure Tom and Calvin can find LOTS to chat about meanwhile!

    • Luce says:

Glad someone is talking about how awful the haircut on TS is now. Swift is a princess-y mean girl who gets off on her not so wink-wink-nudge-nudge in all her songs, and then she plays the wounded puppy when it comes back to bite her.

      • Pondering thoughts says:

        @ Luce
        I totally agree.
But she won’t be able to pull it off forever. And she is 25 already so if she still hasn’t managed to deal with such things more dignified …

  3. Eleonor says:

    Hello fifth grade ?!
For what it’s worth all these girls who go after Swifty look desperate to me…

    • MrsB says:

Totally agree. I am #teamnicki because, obviously. But, Katy and now this girl’s response, are not clever, and makes them look thirsty IMO.

    • Original T.C. says:

Seriously? How would you feel if someone you did nothing to is an international pop star who creates a song essentially calling you a slut just because you are dating her ex and can’t equally defend yourself? Your friends, family, coworkers, current and future boss can hear this song 24/7 everywhere they go in public or on the elevator? I mean is Tina Fey desperate for saying the obvious about Taylor’s dating behavior?

To me it’s Swifty that looks desperate, always chasing after some guy (even a kid still in high school) who has moved on. Who buys property next to a teenager you want to date or confronts an ex at a work industry party for leaving her (jake G. golden globes)?

      • claire says:

I’d own my dislike for them, use their name or direct my tweets at them and not do passive aggressive coy crap so that I have a way out if I get called out on what I’m saying about them. That’s what’s lame about 3 of the 4 involved in this.

      • Pondering thoughts says:

Twitter and Tweet answers would merely create more publicity and interest.
Original T.C. has a point pointing out that Swifty’s behaviour is bullying and mobbing of the lowest trashiest kind. If you do that working in an office you get fired and sued.

    • Neah23 says:

Yes I agree Taylor is very thirsty making Niki comment about her and Taylor response wasn’t even clever.

    • ORLY says:

Going after swifty? Taylor has made a career going after people; from exes, to female competition. I’m glad people are finally calling her out and mainstream media is finally taking notice.

      • Eleonor says:

I am not saying Swifty is a saint, I think she is a passive aggressive bitch, and a marketing genious, BUT Katy Perry and this Camille girl (I’ve never heard of her before) jumping all over Swifty at the first pr disaster she makes, make them look desperate imo.
I think it’s a matter of bad timing.

      • annaloo. says:

        This TS quote:

“I was 18 when I wrote that. That’s the age you are when you think someone can actually take your boyfriend. Then you grow up and realize no one can take someone from you if they don’t want to leave.”

Does this apply to backup dancers too, Tay-tay?

    • Shambles says:

Agree that the whole thing is petty and juvenile. But maybe, rather than making them desperate, the fact that so many people are willing to jump on this train speaks to the fact that Taylor Swift has pissed a lot of people off with her bratty ways. Maybe it says that a lot of people have been holding on to some anger over the way she acts, and are grateful for the opportunity to finally express their feelings. I’m not saying that makes it right, but to me the people who are adding their thoughts are coming off more like they’re breathing a sigh of relief because they finally know that someone else feels the way they do about this chick.

Or maybe that’s just the way I want to see it, because I myself am really glad to finally see the cracks in Taylor Swift’s perfect untouchable unicorn facade. But, to me, this is coming off more like a “raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by Regina George” moment.

    • Itzblissy says:

      +9000

Even worst is that Katy perry is 30! Argh it sucks too I liked her the most put of this bunch… But instead of acting like a proper adult she is acting like she is 15… I expected better from you Katy… Losing me here.

      • Neah23 says:

So Taylor is 26 who acts like she 12.

      • Saks says:

I said this yesterday and some people came at me for suggesting Katy should have been more mature.

I understand the dislike for Taylor but not the hate. Yes she is bratty but there are far worse people in the business

      • Itzblissy says:

The thing is I expect this from Taylor. But Katy? Shameful. Stooping lower than Taylor, that’s what Katy had come to now?

This behavior I can still excuse for a 25 year old, but once you hit 30, no, that is shameful.

    • laura says:

Agree with you Eleonor! This is for once a young intelligent, gorgeous woman who does not promote herself by being naked …shows respect and class instead towards herself and others.
She deserves to be where she is, and too bad for the jealous and mean people who comment against her.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

Deserves? Really?I forgot that we as a society are supposed to reward meangirls as long as they conform to some type of traditional value. Yay feminism? Let’s give the fair modest maiden a cookie?

Since we’re celebrating those who submit to more traditional values, let’s also give a cookie to every woman whose hymen bleeds on her wedding night, and to every person who marries someone of the opposite sex. Because progress.

The funny thing is that you just reduced Taylor’s worth to her sexual modesty all in the name of supporting her.

      • Luce says:

So it’s honorable for her to “promote herself” writing lyrics like “. . . not much of an actress . . . better on a mattress. . . ” about Belle because the latter dated one of Swift’s many exes??

      • K says:

Sorry but why do you keep saying its jealousy? That is so dismissive of people’s point of view. I like some of Taylor’s music but she is passive aggressive, she is immature, she is a mean girl and her age isn’t an excuse.

      • Original T.C. says:

        Eleanor and Laura,

I do respect your comments and understand where you ladies are coming from. It’s very similar to my family’s more traditional view of womanhood where my Mom also sees Swifty as “a young intelligent, gorgeous woman who does not promote herself by being naked …shows respect and class instead towards herself and others”.

However to me and others, just because you aren’t showing nudity, using cuss words and are always nice to your fans (aka the ones making you rich) is not what we see as the only signs of respect for self and others. The fact that EVERY famous song of Taylor’s is about attacking someone and making them out to be evil or devious is alarming. She has made her wealth off talking trash about ex-boyfriends and other women. She seems to get sainted for this poor behavior because she found a way of coming across as an angel while spilling acid. Yet when anyone who even mildly points out what she is truly doing or defends themselves against one of her songs, THEY are slammed by the media, Taylor and fans of Taylor’s. It comes across as very hypocritical.

Like I said up field the basis of this Taylor love goes back to American’s puritanical obsession with female sexuality and innocense. Taylor’s lack of association with sex and sexuality will always have her placed in the “innocent” and “safe” category by many. So anything she does or says is viewed as innocent and harmless whereas the “dirty” sexually active women or men who have the audacity to say anything negative about her, no matter how truthful will always be viewed as “bad”. This is my understanding of things as I have seen this in action growing up amongst my traditional family. It’s a good discussion to have so I respect our discussion on this topic 🙂

  4. Tiffany says:

Considering what she said about Camille before, I thought that was a restrained response. Makes me likes Camille more.

    • The Original Mia says:

Camilla could have said much worse. Taylor was horrible to her.

      • Shambles says:

Agreed. We play that vile “she’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress” song at my workplace, and I’m amazed that we’re allowed to being that most of our music is supposed to target a younger audience. I can’t believe Taylor was able to get away completely unscathed when she was calling someone a slut in such a public way. Imagine if this had been Nicki herself, blatantly slut shaming Taylor by way of a song. She would absolutely be shredded to pieces. But Taylor’s white-bread imagine has saved her from criticism until now. And I for one am glad “now” is finally happening. I think the way she acts sends a terrible message to her target audience.

      • MonicaQ says:

But-but Shambles she stayed 13 hours and signed autographs. She’s so safe and pure and wonderful and just wants to find love!

My eyes just rolled back so far in my head I saw the Ming Dynasty.

      • Bridget says:

Camilla probably didn’t do herself any favors here, considering that now she’s reduced to being “that girl that Taylor Swift called a slut in a song”. By making that jab all she did was tie herself to the label even more.

      • Alex says:

yup one of the reasons I really dislike taylor was because of that song. She essentially called her a slut for daring to date Joe Jonas after he dumped her. I would’ve been mortified by it. She completely showed restraint and I don’t blame her for tweeting that out after Taylor tried to come for Nicki for “not supporting women”. Like no

  5. Dewdrop says:

    Thirsty.

  6. Div says:

This whole mess…smh. I can’t believe I’m going to defend Swifty here, but she’s said a couple of times that the Camilla Belle song was wrong and she apparently doesn’t sing this song anymore on tour. Camilla dragging her when she’s already admitted to being wrong about that and when she’s already been dragged just seems….extra.

    • perplexed says:

The song was still made though. And the song was rather mean. And Taylor picks on other people now…

That said, I don’t think Taylor will have to deal with months of backlash. I think the backlash ended when she issued the apology. And Nicki accepted the apology. Maybe people are hoping the backlash will last, but even when Taylor issues an apology she gets praised a lot.

      • Div says:

It was an incredibly cruel song, but she’s stopped singing it, she’s explained why it was wrong, and it was what…six years ago (or maybe more?). I don’t blame Camilla for being angry because I sure as hell would have been furious, but my point is jumping in the game all these years later on twitter when the person is already being publicly dragged is just meh imo

      • belle de jour says:

“That said, I don’t think Taylor will have to deal with months of backlash.”

I’d be surprised if some sort of ‘Swiftian” character doesn’t show up in a parody, comedy sketch, a stand-up routine/opening monologue, or as a throwaway line at another awards show, though…

Haven’t seen one yet that dealt directly with the mania of some of her fan base; that also seems ripe… perhaps coupled with the CO$ nutters?

    • Kit says:

She didn’t apologize to Camilla though? She kinda of just said; “Oh, yeah there are some songs I shouldn’t have written but did and what’s done is done.”

All the while Camilla was receiving death threats and having people call her a slut on Twitter…

      • Timbuktu says:

Please, tell me you’re exaggerating about death threats! People didn’t actually threaten to KILL someone (I don’t care how serious that threat was) because their idol’s boyfriend dumped her?
Sheesh, and I thought I was a mess of a fan as a teenager.

      • Div says:

She clearly stated in some interview that at 17 she thought that a boy could be stolen, and now she realizes that people can’t be “stolen” because they aren’t going to be amenable to others if they don’t want out in the first place. I believe it was in The Guardian. While it would have been ideal for her to apologize, a public apology years later would have been awkward and inappropriate. I mean I don’t blame Camilla for being pissy about it, but it just seems pointless at this point.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

@Timbuktu: That’s one of the biggest reasons why I hate it when celebrities participate in slut-shaming. Every single time any celebrity does this, people of all ages- some fans, some not- use it as an opportunity to air and echo their misogyny online and elsewhere.

    • Elyse says:

Can you imagine a girl writing a song about you calling you a slut, saying you are better known for things you do on a mattress rather than your career and the song being played on the radio? And everybody knowing it’s about you? All because you hooked up with somebody’s ex boyfriend? This song was popular for years. I get that Taylor realizes it’s wrong now, but that in no way redeems herself. I’d still be fuming if I was Camille.

      • The Original Mia says:

Exactly! Taylor has never apologized to Camille and rode that dumb song for years.

      • Shannon1972 says:

Agreed. Not to mention that the woman who essentially bullied, shamed and humiliated you, before the entire world, is a princess unicorn mega star whose face is unavoidable. To add insult to injury, she made a truckload of money off of that song and is now a paragon of feminism (sarcasm on the feminism).

Nope – I’m a reasonable person, but I would probably still be holding a grudge too.

      • Kate says:

Who are the insane adults who indulged a kid’s immature temper tantrum by allowing her to record and release that song attacking another young woman that way? Gross on them.

      • Itzblissy says:

What it’s not wrong right? I can say for sure that none if my friends know anything about her beyond the fact that she dated the 2D guy. Sooo it is true that she is I won for nothing but what she does on a mattress.

    • K says:

Really never heard her admit that? I did know she wrote a accusing this way less famous girl of doing something horrible and dragged her for years and she did this over a Jonas brother! Just like she is attacking Katy over back up dancers who weren’t on contract. I get being hurt and even writing the songs but she specifically said who this was about and claimed she did something the poor girl didn’t.

    • Original T.C. says:

I’d be surprised if even 10% of the public has ever heard Swifty apologize for that song. The media makes a big deal of Taylor’s every appearance and word she speaks as does Taylor and I have never heard of this public apology to Camille. This was Taylor’s “feel sorry for me” iconic song that she rode for years past her teenage-hood. The song been heard by people on every continent, on TV, on the radio, in the hair shop, at Starbucks and she couldn’t go on national TV or send one of her infamous tweets to apologize? I had no idea who Camille was until that song came out and she is permanently associated with the song for life. Taylor can pull it from the public domain any time she wants…

    • Shambles says:

Even if she did apologize for that song, she’s still writing songs like “Bad Blood,– which ascribes to the very same bullying-through-music formula– 6 years later. Which means she hasn’t grown or changed at all.

    • holly hobby says:

Please if it was wrong she should have saved it in her personal collection – not put it on an album! Just because she realizes it’s bad now, doesn’t give her a free pass.

She’s still earning royalties for her “youthful mistake.”

I always wondered it the underlying thing with Taylor and Katy was John Mayer. Not that Taylor wanted him back; but that she was with him at some point. She seems to get upset with the women after she breaks up with the guy. Not new.. it happens with a lot of women. They focus their anger on the other woman in they guys life.. These guys are dating women that are in the same business as her. I always wonder if she is just insecure. Wondering what the guys are telling the new girl about her. Have they told her secrets.. do these women know intimate things about her that she doesn’t want known.. that would create a lot of insecurity and worry. Especially when they could all show up at the same event.

It just seems Taylor has a pattern of behavior; and I sense it is about what she thinks these people know about her through the men they share.

    • lili says:

one of her ex has publicly denied ever dated her in an interview, shortly afterwards, he started dating one of her friends. to taylor the middle school mean girl that’s the ultimate betrayal cause ” ex boyfriends are just off limits of friends, I mean, that’s just, like , the rules of feminism!”

  8. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

So I guess Taylor, according to her own words, has quite a special place in hell waiting for her.

It’s amazing how someone so young managed to make so many enemies over so much personal immaturity.

  9. Jules says:

    Does someone need some attention?

  10. smee says:

Whatthewhat? Who are the ‘pit women’? I’m confused by that “sentence”.

  11. Goats on the Roof says:

I guess Camilla is still holding a grudge. I probably would be, too, if one of the world’s most popular singers called me a slut in a song. Taylor tries to play coy, but she always lets us know who a song is about in the end.

For what it’s worth, Taylor did an interview last year where she admitted that “Better Than Revenge” was an inappropriate song and reflected her teenage mindset at the time. Not saying this excuses the song at all, but I wouldn’t want people holding things I did at 19 against me forever.

    • perplexed says:

That song doesn’t even have a good melody. Sounds like a song an angry person would make up in a shower…

    • renee28 says:

“Not saying this excuses the song at all, but I wouldn’t want people holding things I did at 19 against me forever.”

It’s not normal 19 yr old behavior. She wrote a nasty song about someone that will be out there forever. If people hold it against her so be it.

      • Saks says:

Actually, is a normal behavior, wrong, stupid, infantile but normal. I’m Taylor’s age, and I saw a lot of really crazy actions/fights for guys in my early University years.

The big difference is that Taylor is a famous recording singer, and her actions will impact the recipients of her words, so she should grow up and be careful about it. I don’t blame Camilla for having a grudge, still I think most people are overreacting.

      • paranormalgirl says:

So do a lot of musicians. Alanis Morissette wrote a scathing song about Dave Coulier. John Mayer went after Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston in songs. “You’re So Vain” is about a couple of guys Carly Simon knew. Justin Timberlake wrote “Cry Me a River” about Britney Spears. Foo Fighters’ “I’ll Stick Around” is about Courtney Love. Miss Katy Perry herself wrote “Circle the Drain” about Travie McCoy. Lana DelRey’s “So Legit” is pretty nasty. Hell, even John Lennon wrote “How Do You Sleep” after getting pissed at Paul McCartney.

Point is: Taylor Swift is not the first nor the last to write songs dissing other people. HOWEVER, She owes Camille a personal apology , since she admits she was wrong in what she wrote. And Camille isn’t the person who dumped her.

      • perplexed says:

I think most everyone writes songs about ex-es, but I think it’s the way you write a song about an ex that probably determines what, if any, criticism you’ll get. In the Alanis Morrissete song, I think she talked about whether the girl (who we have no idea Alanis might be referencing) would do the stuff Alanis was willing to do whereas in Taylor’s song she’s implying the girl is a tramp. I guess it doesn’t help that she didn’t make the reference sort of vague — she refers to an “actress” in the song. I can see why the latter would be criticized whereas the former might not be although I think Alanis was called “angry” for a bit of time.

      • paranormalgirl says:

Oh, I think she was WAY out of line in referencing Camilla. She should have kept her slings arrows toward the wee Jonas Bro. He’s had a ton of diss songs written about him from several women. And to be honest, why that little man inspires women fighting about him is beyond me.

      • K says:

@pan another thing taylor tells us who her songs are about she makes sure we know who her blind item songs are about where to this day we don’t 100% know who vain is about or if uncle Joey is the real target of Alannis epic debut album. They won’t tell us so we all assume but when asked they refuse and say they are songs and not to assume we’d know who they are.

Taylor made sure we knew bad blood was about Katy, that revenge was about Camilla and all the boyfriend songs. Which is how she is different she puts this stuff out and gives a huge one sided story but frames it in a way that makes it seem like it is the only story and if you say different your picking on her further. Allanis just sounded pissed so you knew she was pissed and there was more to it but it was a hell of a pissed off ex girlfriend song.

      • Marianne says:

        @k :

Taylor never came out and said it was about Katy. It was basically the back-up dancers who confirmed that. She’s also never confirmed if “We are never ever getting back together” is about jake gyllenhaal and she’s never confirmed if “I knew you were trouble” was about Harry Styles.

      • pleaseicu says:

I knew you were trouble was written before Taylor ever met Harry Styles. So if she tries to imply it’s about him, it’s a lie.

    • I Choose Me says:

But Camille is not obligated to forgive her because she admitted she was wrong. That’s why it’s important to think before you do stuff to intentionally hurt people. You can’t do takesies backsies and you can’t make the person you hurt, ‘get over it’ or ‘move on.’

      • MonicaQ says:

For real. Acknowledging someone’s apology and accepting it are 2 different things. Saying “It’s ok” is basically saying “Do it again”.

      • Alex says:

        THIS

      • jugil1 says:

Exactly! While Taylor admitted the song was inappropriate, that doesn’t negate the pain & humiliation felt by the person whom the song was about.

    • cheryl says:

So, I’m guessing you would apologize to the person you intentionally and publicly hurt. And you wouldn’t produce a song like Bad Blood?

    • holly hobby says:

And if this happened in school, it would be labelled bullying and harrassment. Camilla has a right to be angry. It’s a taint on her reputation.

    • eatingpie says:

Yeah…I would accept that “apology” and even understand that yes, she wrote it when she was still a teenager. But what about “Bad Blood”, which she wrote now in her mid-twenties, which is the same formulaic musical bashing of someone else for whatever perceived wrong they have inflicted upon Taylor? This just shows that she has not matured at all.

  12. Kit says:

Raise your hand if you have ever felt personally victimized by Taylor Swift.

*All of Hollywood raises their hand*

(I actually don’t blame Camilla; that song was disgusting)

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

      Haha, excellent reference.

It’s interesting to see people just dismiss the slut shaming because apparently Camilla’s popularity isn’t enough to comment on it or be angry abou it.

Like someone else said for years Taylor sang about her being better for what she does on a mattress, the same girl who lost her shit at a tame joke by Tina and Amy, the sheer hypocrisy means any and everyone she ‘personally victimized’ has a free and open space to call her on her bull.

      • Shannon1972 says:

I’m surprised by that too. There really is no way to make up for that song. Camilla kind of disappeared after that…I wonder if it torpedoed her career a bit?

In any case, I think most people would have a very hard time getting over that kind of public humiliation, especially when she had no recourse.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Yeah I noticed that too that it seemed like her career took a turn shortly after the song. There’s a lot of proverbial bodies left in the wake of Swift’s hurricane.

    • K says:

Haha all of Hollywood raises their hand dead

  13. lower-case deb says:

after seeing pics after pics of Taylor Swift this past how many days, i began to wonder: what’s in her bag? maybe it’s my phone and the way it renders photos, but everytime i see Taylor (and her various bags), they just don’t seem normally weighted down by stuff.
    is she a light traveler?

(i know this one aunt, who goes only with her bus card, phone, and some money, but looovvvees bags so she has enormous bags with nothing in them).

    • MonicaQ says:

It turns out she just carries her bag for fashion and an assistant carries her real bag. I saw an article on Buzzfeed.

    • cheryl says:

I’ve wondered the exact thing. I’ve also wondered if a photo exists that shows her belly button. I don’t need to see it, but does it exist? Her clothes are revealing in other areas.

      • MonicaQ says:

Yeah, she posted a picture in a bikini because a pap was on a boat and took a picture of her. So she dropped her own pic before the tabs could.

  14. sarah says:

i always thought the lyrics for “Better Than Revenge” were unnecessary/nasty/mean girl-ish, so good for Camilla for getting a ‘small victory’ or at least a tiny moment. I think this is good for Taylor too tbh, she’ll learn from this mistake, see where she messed up, and realize some of her hypocrisy with her feminist shtick.

    • Shannon1972 says:

While Taylor is apologizing, perhaps she could send one Camilla’s way…

      • Dvaria says:

agreed. she profited off of slut shaming Camilla. She deserves a public apology at this point.

      • teacakes (formerly oneshot) says:

yeah, “I was immature when I wrote that song” is not even close to an apology for what she did to Camilla Belle.

I mean, she outright called the girl a sIut in her song without actually saying the word (because nice country princesses don’t say bad words), and people think CAMILLA is the petty one for simply favoriting a tweet from another woman who got Taylor’s mean girl treatment?

  15. Talie says:

She definitely has an equal amount of enemies and friends, which is interesting.

  16. Kate says:

Good for her. The lyrics Swift wrote about Belle were revolting and she basically went around for months calling Belle a slut because she dared to date a guy she once dated. I couldn’t beleive she didn’t catch more flack for that at the time, it was blatant bullying, verging on harassment and slander, and she was more than old enough to know better. Belle was dealing with crazy Swift fans sending her death threats, and the best Swift can do years later is say she was a bit immature at that time, but she’s moved past it. She never actually said sorry to Belle.

Based on that I’m certain her feud with Perry has a lot more to do with John Mayer than she’d like people to think. If it was actually about business, she’d have written a song slamming the lawyers who wrote up the dancers contracts, because that was the actual problem. Perry didn’t ‘steal’ them, they left the tour because they were completely free to accept other work. If Swift wanted to lock them down, their employment contracts should have reflected that.

Swift is still the same old mean girl she always was.

    • K says:

Wait did this poor girl actually get death threats? I figured it just damaged her career and reputation I didn’t know people threatened to kill her. Ok I think Taylor can be immature and needs to stfu a lot but most the time just silly but to know this happened and not say it was wrong is inexcusable!

      • Jessica says:

Oh yeah. Considering some of Swifts most protective fans are grown men (and there were significantly more of those creepers around back then when she was the angelic, curly haired, barely legal country princess), that had to be legitimately scary for Belle. And she still get’s ton’s of hate from Swift fans to this day.

Swift is very aware of what her fans are doing, far more so than most celebs. That she’s never even attempted to shut that BS down says a lot about her IMO. Even the douchiest celebs give their fans a gentle talking to when death threats start getting thrown around, but not Taylor.

      • MonicaQ says:

the “You should f*ckin’ die”, “I hope you choke on a (insert male implement)”, “you deserved to be raped”, and “You’re a nobody, if you died no one would miss you” are the ones I remember the most being flung around on twitter. It was around the time I deleted mine forever. I can’t stand the mess flung about.

      • K says:

OMG that is horrific! What is wrong with people? Who wishes that on people or says it? And to a complete stranger over a celebrity that you don’t know at all! I’m sickened and the fact this happened to her because of Taylor’s action and this is all she said well shows who has the class.

    • Aren says:

I’m late for the comments but I just wanted to express how horrific it is what Swift did to Camilla.
I hope one day Taylor is at the receiving end of all the abuse she promoted and caused.

  17. InvaderTak says:

Well THAT escalated quickly. Weren’t we talking about the VMA’s at some point?

  18. Mia V. says:

This all will be her next hit album. Stay tuned.

  19. Pia says:

Wow..so much hatred for Taylor in this blog.I still like her no matter what you people say.

    • Neah23 says:

Ok then like her and the other will continue to see though her facade.

    • Kate says:

Hating Taylor Swift must be as frustrating as my abiding hatred for the New England Patriots. No matter how many votives I light at church while praying for their demise, how many Tom Brady voodoo dolls I stab, or how often I howl, “How can anyone find Tom Brady attractive? HAVE THEY NOT SEEN HIS
OVERBITE????” – they just keep winning. As does TS. I don’t personally have an opinion on Swift beyond my disliking her music and my distaste for her strangely convoluted, suspiciously convenient brand of feminism (on the other hand, many young women these days don’t actually know what feminism really is, so I can’t hold that against her too much). I do think she turns some people off with her odd collection of girlfriend accessories and middle school-level mean girl lyrics, but she’s not out there “accidentally” leaking sex tapes or anything, and I’m a lot less offended by her mean girl lyrics than the violently misogynistic lyrics we tend to accept from male artists without batting an eyelid, so … I’m conflicted, in short.

      • Tig says:

I have had an awful week- this comment made me LOL for the first time-THANK YOU!!

Camilla B weighs in to get some pub and a dig- however, if Katy Perry is your standard bearer, that’s a bit weak. And aren’t all these women closer to 30 than 15??? Just weird to me.

      • MonicaQ says:

Kate I’m a Dolphins fan and I just want to hug you and buy you dinner and listen to your hopes and dreams.

      • Heather says:

So funny, Kate! Taylor annoys me but I just don’t care about her lil’ teeny bopper self enough to hate her.

And – go Pats! Free Tom Brady!!! 😉

    • Lisa says:

Yup me too. She seems like a good person to me …not perfect but human in that she does make mistakes but she owns up to stuff and attempts to learn. Plus she seems grateful and treats her fans well so I like that about her.

It doesn’t bother me that she writes songs about her experiences in life. I would think this is what most songwriters do..not sure what people expect her to write songs about

Some people just hate her no matter what though ….it’s so true haters gonna hate just shake it off ! LOL.

Also I have no idea who this Camilla person was til now, to me her tweeting that just seems like she is looking for attention.

      • holly hobby says:

Well if you’re publicly called out as a slut and received death threats on Twitter at the time for daring to take Switfy’s sloppy seconds, then I guess Camilla really is looking for attention – not.

If this happened at school, Swifty would get her ass handed to her by the administration for bullying and harrassment. I don’t care how “sweet” she looks or how occasionally nice she is.

A fake is a fake – that’s the underlying problem with her.

      • itzblissy says:

well…. then all women must be hated then.. i’m pretty sure most people have looked at their ex’s new gf and went omg he’s dating her?! Also i don’t think taylor has ever actually called her a slut. I have never heard of the song about her but according to the other people in this thread quoting it. It said something like she’s an actress, but better known for what she does on a mattress. Which sadly is true. I had no idea she was an actress, i did know she was sleeping with one of the 1D boys. soooo yea…

I’m sad to say that i started the week as someone who didn’t really care for taylor swift.. It’s friday now and celebitchy has converted me into a swifty (who knows maybe 3 songs by her..) just because this blog is suddenly full of hate for this random singer who happens to have lots of friends and behaves like a 25 year old.

    • K says:

I think there is a difference between blindly hating her and seeing her behavior for what it is. I enjoy a lot of her songs, but she is an immature attention seeking brat who often goes the mean girl route and then screams you’re anti women when anyone calls her on her behavior or makes a joke.

I think people calling her out on it is fair and I think people calling the media out on their bias is great, it needs to happen across the board and in much more serious issues then silly pop stars but hey it’s a start I guess.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

This. I used to like Swift and defend her too…3 albums ago, then I woke up to her patterns and pettiness. I always joke that if I’ve turned on someone then that’s means their true qualities are painfully obvious. The girl is a new version of the same old child she was originally – positioning herself as the Angel and fuming whenever the world doesn’t spin to her liking.

      • bunny ears says:

        THIS.

Better than Revenge came out when I was in college and I remember humming it. Once I googled the lyrics and saw what it said, I was pretty horrified at how nasty it was. Given how batsh** TS fans were, I felt for Camilla Belle. Kids who’ve been bullied for far less have committed suicide, and given how she’s still mean girling it up 6ish years later, I just can’t listen to TS without wanted to roll my eyes. She’s perpetually stuck in middle school.

  20. DavidBowie says:

Katy and this other chick (never heard of her before) took a punch but it was a sucker punch.

  21. kibbles says:

One way to deflect is to have TS announce her engagement to CH soon. It’s still very early into the relationship but maybe there are plans to announce by the end of the year. Maybe that is why she is planning a trip to Scotland to meet his parents.

  22. Kate says:

Camilla has a right to be angry at Taylor given what TS said publicly about her and how she tried to ruin her reputation. With that said, Taylor smartly apologized and backed off, so anyone attacking her now looks like a petty opportunist. And Katy Perry’s illiteracy shows the importance of getting an education. I almost completely overlooked the decent point she was making because I couldn’t overcome the thought that her attempt to write a sentence reveals why she should not have quit high school. Dumb as rocks.

  23. kri says:

So I guess this is the part where Tay Tay starts eating Kalteen Bar humble pie? Glad that she apologized to Nicki, but this story is a gossip turducken…so beautiful on the outside, messy and gross inside! I love it!

  24. Michelle says:

Taylor is a woman who acts like a child and believes that she has free rein to rip apart every single person that she feels does her wrong in her songs and put all sorts of dirty laundry out there. She loves to play the victim and I don’t think she is going to be able to talk her way out of this one. She’ll probably try to make it seem like people who have done her wrong in the past are just piling on now, but she earned this in spades. Maybe she’ll write a new album about how Nicki, Katy and Camilla “ganged up” on her on Twitter.

    • MonicaQ says:

I know “if they turned on me, they’ll turn on you too” will be a lyric ala “Black Boys on Mopeds”. (not the exact same lyric but you know)

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Lol, I was thinking she might be tempted to write about this but I think/hope? she’s smart enough not to tangle with Nicki that way again.

Unlike all her previous conflicts Nicki will take her to the mat verbally in a vicious track if she dared.

      • K says:

Is it wrong to hope she does write a song about this and how nicki was mean to her? I mean nick I won’t pull a Katy or Camille and take it she will eat her alive and it will be entertaining.

I have found this thing so funny, which is sad because a major issue got lost in all of this drama but it’s been so funny that I sort of hope these two battle it out forever. I think they are evenly matched.

  25. Kelly says:

It really isn’t that big of a deal

  26. Veronica says:

Maybe it’s kind of b*tchy of me to say so, but I think Camilla would actually have to be more culturally relevant to be considered a nemesis for Swift. Most people are going to read that tweet and think, “Who is this?” Which makes it look more like an attempt to latch on to two much larger celebrities’ feud in order to get her name out there, regardless if she had legitimate personal reasons to be angry.

  27. Katarina says:

I hope Calvin Harris realizes what a immature hypocrite Taylor is and dumps her. Lol.

    • Lynnie says:

For his sake I’m hoping their relationship is a contract and he can take the publicity and go

      • bunny ears says:

I’m waiting for the eventual break up and the songs written about each other. Now that will be ‘interesting’ given stuff CH wrote about Rita Ora.

  28. Novason says:

Argh! How’s that saying go???? “People will forget what you did after the next big story”
Anyway, Arianna Grande is breathing a lot better since this has come out. Let’s go back that. Spitting on good people ate and saying ‘I hate Americans’ is still a 100x worse. And I’m not even American

  29. Tara says:

This is so high school. Lol. Taylor just seems really immature. I still think Nicki Minaj deserved more of a fall out for her arrogance.

  30. Aren says:

For what is worth, Camilla was in a film with Daniel Day Lewis, if you don’t know who she is you should watch it, it’s a very sad and beautiful movie.

  31. barb says:

Taylor’s songs are just pages out of her diary and I, for one, am sick of looking at her every move. She donates to a charity or treats her fans( with a camera in tow), she walks on the street( with a camera in tow), she pretends she can dance and, God forbid, sing and to top it all off she carries a purse on her arm just like the Queen……and now this site is catering to her….come on, enough is enough.
