The last we heard about Henry Cavill and his 19-year-old college freshman girlfriend Tara King, the tabloids claimed that Henry gave Tara a “promise ring.” Henry just turned 33 years old. But the way he always talked about her – claiming that she “protects” him and more – just seemed very odd. I did think Henry and Tara were going to stick around for a while though. They got together last fall, and she skipped class to go to the Oscar parties and everything. But now the British papers are saying that Tara and Henry are over!
“Superman” star Henry Cavill has split with his teenage girlfriend – just weeks after gushing that she “protects him” when the world “gets too heavy.” In one cringy interview, Henry went on to say that student Tara King will “happily take that weight” for him despite the large age gap.
But we can reveal that less than two months later, Henry has decided to brave the weight of the world on his own and broken up with the 19-year-old. And sources close to the pretty blonde told us she is devastated by the sudden break-up. Tara told friends she thought the “Man of Steel” actor, who turned 33 earlier this month, was “the love of her life.”
One told us: “Henry and Tara have split — it is official. Henry said the two of them could stay friends and he even invited her to his recent birthday party, which she did go to. But their relationship is over. It has been very difficult for Tara, who has been saying he was the love of her life.”
Now I feel sorry for Tara. I mean, I always felt a little bit sorry for her because for goodness sake, she’s just a teenager! She was too young to be thrown into the world of Oscar parties and premieres and promotional trips. And of course she thinks Cavill is the love of her life – SHE IS 19!!! When you’re 19, you always think that guy is the love of your life. Anyway, it sounds like Henry dumped her. I really do wonder why? Because he seemed really into her. Maybe he had a moment of clarity: “holy sh-t, I’m dating a college freshman!”

He is not gay. Being gay does not normally merit comment in the uk. It would have no adverse effect on his career. It may well have been an arrangement of some type–i.e., a “controversial” relationship, of which I assume the end goal would be to raise him above The Least Interesting Man In the World–but it was not a bearding situation.
Star, you’re forgetting that he’s mostly working in Hollywood AND playing Superman. He can’t come out even if he wanted to. Well he could, but that would mean he couldn’t afford any new promise rings.

GOOD. Okay sorry, I feel bad for her, that heartbreak must be horrible. Love is beautiful and painful, but she does not need to be lugging around a 33 year old man with issues. There’s nothing wrong with age gaps, but I think they come better (and are healthier) when both parties are matured and in a better place in life. My husband is 11 years older than me, but if I had met him while still in school I don’t know if that would have happened. But when we finally got together I had been away from my parents long enough, I had more experience and was more emotionally secure. That’s what this woman needs. 19 is so young, but again, heartbreak is awful and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Agree. Mr Balls is 11 years older than me and we met when I was in my 30’s, after we’d had years to mature. Made all the difference in the world.

My ex left me for a 22 year old (he was 31 at the time). My mutual friends told me she loves to playfully call him old man. The whole thing creeps me out and makes me cringe that I dated him also.
As for superman, their age gap is even more cringeworthy, especially since they are in totally different areas of their lives.

You know what? I never bought this relationship. I think all of Henrys relationships have been shady. I think this particular type of relationship is the new closetting. You get into the most frat boy set up imaginable, ride the controversy for a while and in exchange the outraged masses punch your hetero card for you for life. I hear what you’re saying but if it’s really an arrangement then why not find someone more suitable/less controversial? Seems like there wouldn’t be a shortage of appropriate women who’d be up for a contract.
Could it be because a less controversial relationship wouldn’t be newsworthy enough to garner many headlines, and the whole point of an arrangement like Naya is describing is to create a big enough smokescreen that even the most persistent rumors get drowned out? A short, messy affair gives you the most return for the least amount of effort, and the celeb in question doesn’t have to spend months on a complicated charade.

There is absolutely no freaking way I would have allowed my college freshman daughter to have dated a 33 year old. Yeah she is legally an adult but I’m paying the bills so I get a vote. And that vote is NO. Heck, she’s now 22 and that vote would still be NO.
I doubt that would have worked out very well for you, especially if your daughter is 22. Even this relationship (if it’s truly over) has only ended in a little heartbreak for the girl, nothing world ending. And you would have destroyed your trusting relationship with your daughter to spare her that just because the guy is 33? A 19 year old boy can do the same damn thing.
