I think Sofia Vergara gets a lot of unfair crap for knowing her proportions and how to dress her curvy figure. When she goes to big events, she obviously gets designers to make her gowns, and she sticks within the same basic framework, year in and year out. But why is that a bad thing? We would be complaining if Sofia dared to change it up and wear something that didn’t flatter her figure, so why not just stick with what works? But at this year’s Emmys, it was Sofia’s styling team that did her wrong. Sofia’s Versace gown was fine. The Versace was well cut, flattering and yes, not that notable. But her styling! My God. The rooster-tail half-pony, the long-ass extensions (which looked like horse hair), the garish makeup. GIRL, NO! Also: Sofia’s Emmys date was her grown-up son Manolo, not her husband Joe Manganiello. Huh. I wonder if that’s something gossip-worthy.
Minnie Driver also chose Versace, only I don’t think she had this made or tailored. It looks like she just pulled if off the rack and threw it on two seconds before she left. This is the wrong color, the wrong silhouette, the wrong fit. Ugh.

With Sofia is not really the framework thats the issue, yes she does know how to dress for her body type, for me it her dresses could be more elegant – they always look a bit trashy Vegas arm candy to me. She is a beautiful woman with a great bod – she knows how to work it. The dress is lovely on her.
True, but in all fairness, 90% of clothes you put on that kind of silhouette will give off some sort of Vegas look. For me, I like a trashy – elegant style and her body is above any bad outfit.
I like her ring-bracelet a lot, it is a very cool accessory.

I noticed the same thing. I think she did some aggressive facials/peels leading up to the event plus a tight pony pulling her skin.
Totally agree, Tania. I’ve noticed it a lot in recent photos. She definitely had some work done. her face looks tight and almost puffy. I think it’s in the eyes and cheeks. Whatever it is, I hope it’s not permanent because I don’t think it’s a good look. Her face looks strange and frozen.
Tania, I’d noticed it as well. I love her and think she’s lovely, although I don’t particularly like her hairdo for this event. Her face, especially around the eyes, has that same “pulled, tightened” look as Julie Bowen. Perhaps they go to the same doctor?
Obviously yet another nose job. She’s veering into Jackson territory. Why get rid of your cultural features while proclaiming to be so proud of your heritage which is your entire persona you’re banking on? Doesn’t make sense.
How is a facial feature “cultural”? Sofia is white with heritage dated back to Europe, just on the South side even though culturally she is Latina. She can be proud of her culture AND do what most other white American do.

Getting work down has nothing to do with losing ones ethnicity. Common, the amount of work being done tody is incredible.
Eek to both. They are both beautiful women but these looks didn’t work.
I wouldn’t criticize her for sticking with the same style. Why fix what ain’t broke? If it makes her feel comfortable and confident, then good for her. Besides, the men get to turn up to every event in boring ill fitting tuxes! That being said I sort of hate this particular dress with the weird corsetry cutout things. Cutouts are a trend that need to die immediately.

Love the top half of Minnie’s dress – the colour is great on her – but the length is off. Floor-length would have worked better.

Props for Minnie. She can pull off the yellow AND the slits of the dress, something usually reserved for a 20-something female. Minnie is ageless!
There’s something about Sofia’s dress that looks a little cheap to me, though I’m not the biggest Versace fan so that’s not surprising. Don’t care for that hairstyle on her.

I don’t like the dress around her bust. She has beautiful breasts. Don’t make them look all odd with a weird single strap! But the colour and makeup are perfect.

I’m not a big fan of Sophia but I rarely see her look bad. She usually finds the perfect dress to compliment her amazing figure.

She looks fine here, as she usually does. Why isn’t Joe M there with her? I don’t think he’s currently filming anything. Something’s up. Maybe not marital probs, but he’s barely been seen in public since his health issues a few months ago. I wonder if it was more serious than they said and he’s been recovering from something we’ll know more about later.
