Heidi Klum and Seal welcome daughter Lou Sulola

fp_3571725_rij_get_schooled
German model Heidi Klum, 36, gave birth to her fourth child, a daughter named Lou Sulola Samuel, on Friday. Heidi also has sons Johan, 2 1/2, and Henry, 4, and daughter Leni, 5. Heidi’s husband of four years, Seal, released what has to be the most heartfelt celebrity baby announcement I’ve ever read. Seal enthused about his love for his children and wrote that “from the moment she looked into both of our eyes, it was endless love at first sight.” Aww.

Heidi Klum gave birth to a girl, Lou Samuel, on Oct. 9 in Los Angeles, her rep confirms. She joins siblings Johan, 2 ½, Henry, 4, and Leni, 5.

The supermodel’s husband, Seal, released the following statement Monday night:

“It’s difficult to imagine loving another child as much as you love your existing children,” Seal writes. “Anyone who has a family will tell you this. Where will one find that extra love? If you love your existing children with all of your heart, how then can one possibly find more heart with which to love another?”

“On Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at 7:46 p.m., the answer to this question came in the form of our fourth child and second daughter,” he continues. “Lou Sulola Samuel was born, and from the moment she looked into both of our eyes, it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years.”

[From People]

Last week Heidi filed to change her last name from Klum to Samuel, which is her husband’s last name. Seal’s full name is a mouthful: Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel. Seal was born to Nigerian parents and adopted by a British family and raised in London. I believe that newborn Lou’s middle name, Sulola, is of Nigerian origin although I had a hard time googling to verify that. Seal and Heidi’s other two children together, Henry and Johan, both have multiple names like their father. The name “Lou” is a bit unconventional for a girl, but it sounds cute enough and it’s not a bad name. Many “Louise’s” and “Louisa’s” have “Lou” as a nickname.

Congratulations to Heidi and Seal on the new addition to their growing family!

Leni and Lou do sound cute. And when you’ve got so many kids it’s easier to have short names when you’re yelling at everyone to hurry up in the morning!

How refreshing is a story like this?! Two people in love with each other and their kids – no drama (at least, none that makes the papers!), no crap, no “aren’t we terrifc because we’re famous.” A breath of fresh air – congrats to the whole family!

I adore them. They also make me smiling, even when Seal is yelling at the paps to stay away from his family.-I think it’s admirable he tries to keep a distance between them.

I like this name. It’s unconventional but pretty.

I love these two together; what a touching tribute to a new life Seal wrote. Sniff. There is more love in that family than a world full of Karl whatshisfaces.

We all love you, Heidi, Seal, Lou, Leni, Henry, and Johan! Let’s all raise a potato chip and toast the happy family!!! ;-)

Sulola appears to be a Yoruba name. That or a Finnish surname. Dunno about the actual option’s meaning, but, although silly, the Finnish one’s not the bad either; -la denotes a place and Sulo (an old-fashioned man’s name here) can be translated as grace or charm.

Sulola is a Nigerian name. Seal is Nigerian and so his daughter got a Nigerian name.

Just like Henry got a Nigerian name – Ademola.

Congratulations to them. He sounds like a very loving and doting father.

One of my daughter’s is Lily but we call her Lou because of an inability of another of our children to say “Lily”. It came out “Looey” and then it was “Loo” for short and the name just stuck. It is very cute.

I believe that Seal adopted Leni (pronounced like Lainey) at birth. So sweet to be carrying her around loving her like his own. I’m adopted as well but I love how he did not let her being biologically another man’s and being a child of another race. Love him!
