Demi Moore’s dog Pilaf got a little matching tie to go with her Met Gala gown

Demi Moore was one of many celebs clad in Thom Browne at Monday’s Met Gala, but her look was truly unlike any other. Her gown was literally a necktie! The bodice from the waist up was the knot, the sculpted arc framing her head was the loop around the neck, and it was hard to see in motion and on the blue carpet, but the front and back of the dress were cut to perfect chevron points. I thought it was a fun interpretation of the menswear/suiting part of the theme, and also kept up Demi’s streak of wearing structural pieces to the event. Since Monday night, Demi has been sharing behind-the-scenes pics and video of getting ready for the big soiree, and that’s how we learned that Thom Browne made one additional piece with the necktie gown: a little matching tie for Demi’s constant companion, her mighty two-pound dog Pilaf!

Demi Moore’s dog Pilaf might not have scored an invitation to the 2025 Met Gala, but the pup was more than ready for a night out at the event.

The Substance actress, 62, gave her Instagram followers a behind-the-scenes look at getting ready for the high-fashion event, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5.

In the videos, Moore was recorded while getting ready in hair and makeup with her glam team before hitting the steps of the Met. During the preparations, Pilaf was responsible for keeping the actress levelheaded.

“A look back at yesterday’s #MetGala prep! With my emotional support @pilaf.littlemouse,” Moore captioned one of the videos, which featured Pilaf sitting calmly in her lap.

After completing hair and makeup, Moore got dressed in her black necktie gown by Thom Browne — and Pilaf had her own matching version created by the designer for fashion’s biggest night.

“@thombrowne made Pilaf her very own custom look, of course,” Moore wrote over an Instagram Stories video of her fully dressed in her complete Met Gala look, holding Pilaf as she unboxed a mini black necktie that matched her dress. Moore quickly placed the matching tie on Pilaf, cradling her and gushing over how “gorgeous” she looked in the designer item.

Moore’s look for the evening was far more ornate — according to Vogue, the actress’s custom Thom Browne gown contained over 1,400,000 beads, 22,000 pieces of black rectangle sequins, 103,500 pieces of black cut beads and 1,093,500 pieces of black bugle beads. The garment — meant to resemble a men’s necktie — took a total of 7,600 hours to make.

The actress additionally wore black and white pom-pom heels to match the black and white of the dress, and accessorized the look with a pair of diamond-encrusted bracelets and diamond chandelier earrings.

Moore’s look offered a unique take on the 2025 Met Gala theme and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s corresponding spring 2025 exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The dress code for this year was “Tailored for You,” which spotlights the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting.

Is it friggin’ adorable? Yes! But now I’m simmering with indignant rage, as I’m sure you all are too. Why didn’t Pilaf attend the gala?!?! She’s a Dogue cover star, for woof’s sake! No really, this is the dog who goes everywhere with her person, even as eight canine siblings get left at home. (I still wonder how those family dynamics play out when everyone is together, but I digress…) Between being glued to her mama’s side, and a fashion icon in her own right, I think the world deserves answers about Pilaf’s absence! Sorry to raise my voice, but I’m barking mad. I mean, it’s not like she could attend the annual Pet Gala instead, because that’s an adoption event and she already has a person. Unless, of course, staying back at the hotel was Pilaf’s choice. Maybe she didn’t want to deal with the other bitches there. In which case, thank dog Demi did the benevolent thing by sharing pics of the duo in their matching necktie garb. And I guess now’s the time to start pitching Anna Wintour for some kind of animal related/inclusive theme for next year’s shindig.
