The latest report coming from People actually made me kind of sick to my stomach. Apparently, Elin Nordegren is seriously thinking about staying married to her now-infamous womanizer husband, Tiger Woods, because she doesn’t want their children to be raised in a broken home. Yep, that’s right - she’s trying to save her marriage for the sake of the kids.

Elin Nordegren is hoping to save her marriage to Tiger Woods because she doesn’t want to raise their two children without a father.

“Elin wants a solid family life,” a Florida source tells PEOPLE. “She was a child of divorce and felt her dad slighted her. She absolutely does not want that to happen to Sam and Charlie. So she wants to keep her family together even if she and Tiger live together as friends instead of lovers.”

During the past week, Nordegren, 30, reportedly visited her husband at the Gentle Path sexual addiction clinic in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he has been getting treatment.

During the middle of the six-week counseling session, a patient’s spouse is invited to visit for about a week, according to a former patient of the alcohol addiction section of the Hattiesburg clinic.

“This is the rough part where the patient has to admit to his wife that he [cheated],” the former patient tells PEOPLE.

Tiger Wants to Stay Married
Woods, according to a Florida insider, also wants to hold onto his family and will do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Tiger wants to go back to being a golf star with major endorsements,” the insider tells PEOPLE. “He wants his clients, who have kids of their own, to think he is a good family man. He had hoped all along that his wife’s initial furor would die down so they could discuss the situation and behave rationally.”

Adds the insider, “Keeping the family together is very important to Tiger so he is doing whatever it takes to keep Elin from leaving him and taking the kids.” (Sam is 2, and Charlie is 11 months.)

If Nordegren does decides to continue the marriage, she would likely put on a happy face, take care of children and continue taking courses at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., while Woods would go back to playing golf and fulfilling his endorsement contracts, according to the insider

“Elin is as smart as a whip and a wonderful, caring mother,” the insider says. “She is a special kid, well educated and capable. But she could be lonely forever.”

Because Tiger’s such a great dad, right? Not only did he cheat on their mother while she was carrying both of them, he was so distracted by chasing skanks throughout their young lives that he hardly had any time for them. And you know, if the marriage, children, endorsements, and opinions of other golfers mean so much to Tiger, maybe he should have thought of all that before he started whoring around behind his wife’s back. But forget all that - Elin doesn’t want them to be stigmatized by a divorce and is even willing to live together with Tiger as friends in order to keep the home together.

It makes me sad that Elin is willing to put her own personal happiness and dignity aside in this situation. It may seem like she is doing her children a favor in the short term, but I can’t imagine her being happy in a loveless marital arrangement for long. It doesn’t seem fair to me that Elin should be the one making concessions here after being wronged so publicly. Maybe Tiger is telling her all the right things, fresh from his sex rehab, but does anyone really think he can change?

For all the vehement denials issued by Susan Sarandon’s reps - and even her mom - it looks like the rumor about her young entrepreneur boyfriend may be true. The Oscar-winning actress has been pulled into a court dispute between Jonathan Bricklin, with whom Sarandon has been spending a great deal of time since her split with Tim Robbins, and his business partners at an upscale ping pong club in NYC. Bricklin’s partners have named Susan Sarandon as a witness - and possibly a little bit more.

Susan Sarandon — who recently separated from Tim Robbins — is caught in the middle of a legal battle involving her new boyfriend, Jonathan Bricklin, and his two biggest investors in SPiN, the pingpong club in the Flatiron District.

The majority investors in SPiN, Bill Mack and Iwona Herdzik, claim in a suit filed last week in Manhattan Supreme Court that the club’s founders — Bricklin, Andrew Gordon and Franck Raharinosy — have frozen them out of the business.

Mack and Herdzik, who together poured more than $1.5 million into SPiN, allege that Bricklin, Gordon and Raharinosy issued additional shares of the company to third parties without their approval, mismanaged SPiN’s finances and threatened to shut the club and file bankruptcy.

Not in the suit are statements sources made to Page Six that Bricklin and minority partner Sarandon, who invested $50,000 in the club, are in cahoots to run the business without consulting Mack and Herdzik. The sources say Sarandon and Bricklin met at a Naked Pingpong party in February, 2008, and later became romantically involved as they worked on a video for Robbins’ 50th birthday. Sarandon’s rep did not respond to a request for comment.

Herdzik and Mack claim they tried to resolve things through arbitration, but Bricklin and his fellow co-founders allegedly refused and threatened to close the club and give the keys to SPiN’s landlord — which would have lost the investors all their money.

A rep for SPiN responded: “Bill and Iwona attempted to take control of SPiN New York, but the judge flatly denied that request. There is zero truth to the allegations that the club is seeking bankruptcy protection.

“They tried to work out their differences with Bill and Iwona over a heated table tennis match at SPiN, but they ended up in court, which is a lot less fun.”

This guy might be fun for now, and Susan is probably getting her groove back and all, but there seems to be some baggage accompanying this relationship in the form of a bad business deal that is about to get a lot uglier. Online’s gossip queen Ted Casablanca is insisting that Tiger - face intact - is staying at the Trump Hotel in NYC, behaving very much like a single dude.

Sources inside the luxury towers tell us the missus hasn’t come a knockin’, and if we were Woods, we wouldn’t be expecting her anytime soon, either. Not without her big-gun attorneys, that’s fer sure.

T.W. has been doing his best to keep a very low profile there, which for him, means going back and forth between hitting the bar and barricading himself in his room. Supposedly, Woods has been boozing and fraternizing with some females there. Hardly the actions of a dude trying to woo his wife back.

I find it hard to believe that Tiger could be staying at such a high-profile place like Trump Hotel without being absolutely mobbed by the paparazzi. This is one of the biggest scandals in years - I’m sure the tabloids have mobilized their troops accordingly. Look at how they hounded Elin’s twin sister in Europe, thinking it was her. It’s time for the next installments in the neverending Tiger Woods saga. First up: in a newly released pre-scandal interview, Tiger was caught using his family to promote his wholesome image. See if you can read this quote from Tiger without cringing, Tiger talking about his family: “It’s been great, actually, it’s been the best thing that ever happened… [my kids] have got my wife’s stubbornness, so that’s enough.” Tiger is asked if he feels family comes first, then golf, and he replies “always.” Cringe.

Another cringe-worthy interview was given this morning on the Today Show. One of Tiger’s many mistresses, Cori Rist, spoke with slightly more intelligence than Tiger’s other outspoken mistresses. Rist claims she and Tiger had an affair for two and a half years, and how openly they conducted their affair… especially while Elin was pregnant. Rist says that their relationship ended when she wouldn’t rearrange her life so she could be at Tiger’s beck-and-call.

Cori Rist, another woman claiming to have an affair with Tiger Woods, is breaking her silence about her alleged two-and-a-half-year fling with the golfer. On the Today show Monday, she confirmed that she met Woods, 33, at a New York City nightclub in 2006 when a man claiming to be the golfer’s trainer invited her and her friends to join Woods for a drink.

“He was not afraid to show his affection in front of everybody that was there,” said Rist, 31. “He was very affectionate, and he led me by the hand, and we just kind of disappeared, and that was the start.”

Though she said she knew he was married, Rist said Woods always told her his marriage to his wife was on the rocks.

“He was not happy at home with his wife,” said Rist, a single mother. “He would stay there because she was pregnant, and they were expecting their first child. Because of his reputation and the image that he has, he had to uphold that.”

Rist — who said she is speaking out now because she needs to defend herself against false rumors (including that she is a prostitute) — said she thought she was the only other woman in Woods’ life.

But she recalled how in the middle of the night, he would wake up and start texting. Rist said she now believes he was communicating with other women. Still, she said Woods kept pursing her, asking her to join him in Australia, California and even Dubai. Each time she declined. They last spoke in September.

“We had an argument over how I don’t make enough time for him, and that was it,” she said of their two-and-a-half year relationship.

She said she feels sorry his wife Elin, who was photographed over the weekend without her wedding ring. “I am just sorry for her pain. I hate that I am a part of it,” she said. “I feel like I have to take responsibility for the things I’ve done and one day I am going to have to look my son in the eye and explain all of this.”

Ugh… well, I take comfort in the fact that Rist isn’t even in the top ten of Tiger’s trashiest mistresses. Speaking of trash, there’s a rumor going around Fox News that Rachel Uchitel was down in Florida this weekend - and she was just a few miles away from Tiger’s home.

Tiger Woods and the woman whose rumored affair with him launched the golf great’s astonishing fall from grace may have been just a few miles apart this weekend, Fox411.com has learned.

Rachel Uchitel, the first woman romantically linked to Tiger Woods, told friends she had booked a plane ticket for last Friday from New York to West Palm Beach, just seven-and-a-half miles from the North Palm Beach marina where Woods’ yacht “Privacy” was docked over the weekend, and about 20 miles from his Jupiter Island home, Fox411.com has learned.

Uchitel, 34, told friends she was planning on spending the holiday season in Palm Beach, where her socialite mother lives. Fox411.com spotted beefed-up security at the entrance to the Old Port Cove Marina in North Palm Beach, where “Privacy,” one of Woods’ two yachts, was moored this weekend.

Locals said the increased security suggested the presence of a high-profile member of the marina. On Friday, five moving boxes were seen being moved from Tiger and wife Elin’s main residence in the Orlando suburb of Windermere, TMZ reported. On Saturday, Elin was photographed pumping gas into her car outside Orlando. Her wedding ring was noticeably missing.

On Sunday, Woods’ private plane departed for Elin’s home country of Sweden, but Elin and Tiger Woods were reportedly not onboard when it landed.

On Saturday evening, there were signs of activity inside Tiger’s recently completed home on Jupiter Island, about 11 1/2 miles from the North Palm Beach marina and 20 miles from Palm Beach. Fox411.com saw lights on inside the massive, 12,000-acre complex on Jupiter Island on Saturday night and Sunday night.

Woods purchased the property for $44.5 million two years ago and had planned on building a guest house and boathouse near the main house, according to local Palm Beach news reports.

News of Woods’ and Uchitel’s close proximity over the weekend came as mutual friends told Fox411.com that the two are still very much in love and still very much an item, and they have no plans on ending their relationship anytime soon. Uchitel has publicly denied having an affair with Woods, but friends said he has paid her millions of dollars to remain tight-lipped about the details of their affair, and that the two remain committed to one another.

“Tiger and Rachel are still very much in love,” an insider said. “They are still in communication and they’re just trying to figure out how to make it work so they can be together.”

Uchitel’s rep was not immediately available for comment.

“It looks like Elin’s going to stay around, at least for now. But Tiger still loves Rachel and wants to be with her either way,” the friend said.

Jesus, Rachel is still carrying on the affair with Tiger. At what point do you just cut your damn losses and walk away? Here’s the thing - I can actually see how someone, anyone might get caught up in a brief affair. It sucks, but it happens… a lot. I’m not saying it’s right, but I do see how it happens. I’m not sure why Hello! magazine thought anyone would care, but they have an exclusive new interview and photo shoot with the young waitress who had been dating Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood - that is, until he tried to choke her in the street, got arrested for assault and then dumped her. Ekaterina Ivanova, who Hello! says is 21 but other outlets say is 20, gave some amusing details on her weird relationship with Wood, and why it’s over. Ivanova states the obvious: Wood is a drunken old man who needs more of a babysitter than a girlfriend. But she also has some unintentionally hilarious stories about him, including his attempt to surprise her with a birthday cake in a restaurant, where he was too wasted to sing the words to “Happy Birthday.”

“The whole thing started off as a fairytale. But then it felt like an evil fairytale. When Ronnie and I moved into a tower, my friends were laughing and saying I was like the princess trapped in the tower. He went all Jekyll and Hyde. I’d be trapped there with an evil goblin king.”

…she is far from the “devastated” young woman some reports have suggested. “I feel like I’ve got myself back,” said the Russian-born artist with a perfect English accent. “I feel reborn. I didn’t realize how drowned I was in the whole situation until I got out of it.”

What attracted you to him?

I’m not materialistic at all. I’m now living in a small flat with friends and loving it. I like getting on the tube and all those things.

I wanted to go backpacking around South America and Ronnie said, “No girl of mine goes backpacking. I started thinking about the future and I thought, I really want to meet someone and experience things together, like saving up for a mortgage.

Did Ronnie’s drinking get worse towards the end of your relationship?
Not worse, I just think he couldn’t handle it so well. Even if he wasn’t nasty, he would start repeating the same jokes and I found them really irritating.

So you drank a lot together?
When we first met, I drank a lot, but then I just couldn’t keep up. He would sit there and drink and I wouldn’t feel the need to. I would say, “You can carry on drinking, but all you are doing is pushing me away.”

Why did things go wrong? Was it the drink?
Yes, and another main cause is that I grew up. I grew out of him. I just thought, “What is the point of being with an older man if he acts about 12? He was like a child with tantrums when he was drunk, throwing water bottles and doing impressions of my voice. It was like trying to keep a child under control.

…Did you start to understand how Jo might have felt?
I have a lot of respect for Jo now, because he’s a handful. I don’t know how she did it. I couldn’t. She seems to be better off without him, way happier. But who can he live with if she can’t do it and I can’t do it?

I already thought Ron Wood was a pathetic mess before. But when a 21-year-old girls outgrows you and thinks you’re childish- you’ve got some serious issues. I hope that both women are done with this old fool, and his next stop is a real, inpatient rehab facility. And let’s hope this is the last we hear from this little girl - at least, on this topic. I have a feeling she is going to wind up on one of those British reality shows, though. Based on the photo spread that goes along with the interview, she certainly likes to have her picture taken.

Late Friday evening, Tiger Woods made his second statement of this whole two-week-plus scandal involving the revelations of a dozen affairs with a dozen women - that we know about. Personally, I found the statement to be self-pitying, and I found the timing in particular cowardly. People only release statements like that on a Friday evening when they’re trying to bury it. It didn’t really work, though, because the whole media concept of “take out the trash Fridays” is moot with the 24-hour news cycle, with the Internet, and with the daily, if not hourly revelations of new scandals involving Tiger Woods.

So, with that being said, here’s part of this weekend’s newest scandals: Tiger’s biggest sponsors are beginning to either drop him, or distance themselves from him. This isn’t really breaking news - last week it was revealed that all of the commercials with Tiger had been put on an indefinite hiatus. Gatorade (whose corporate owner is Pepsi) was the first company to distance themselves from Tiger, and they’re now contemplating a complete severing of their partnership with Tiger. Now it’s like rats from a sinking ship. Here’s more:

Tiger Woods is facing an ugly split after a long and happy relationship - with his sponsors. Corporate giants AT&T and Gillette distanced themselves Saturday from the world’s best-known golfer/philanderer, raising questions about Woods’ multimillion-dollar advertising appeal.

Gillette announced it will cut back on Woods’ marketing role as the golfer focuses on his home life.

“As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs,” said a statement from Gillette. The company once featured Woods plugging their razors with fellow sporting superstars Derek Jeter and Roger Federer.

AT&T, which signed a deal with Woods earlier this year to put its logo on his golf bag, is reconsidering its ties to the 33-year-old mega-star after his admission of marital infidelity.
After Woods announced Friday that he was indefinitely abandoning golf in the wake of his woes, AT&T issued a statement offering their backing - to a point.

“We support Tiger’s decision and our thoughts will be with him and his family,” said AT&T spokeswoman Susan Bean. “We are presently evaluating our ongoing relationship with him.” Woods’ ties to AT&T predate the golf bag deal.

The golfer with 14 major titles hosted its annual AT&T National tournament - which he won earlier this year. Other sponsors stood more firmly behind Woods, whose carefully sculpted image has unraveled in the two weeks since a car wreck outside his Florida mansion.

Nike, perhaps his most visible and ardent backer, said Woods and his family had their “full support.”

“He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era,” said the Nike statement. “We look forward to his return to golf.”

So, yeah. That’s the money stuff. Some people find it dull, but I find the money stuff interesting. But I know what most people are interested in - the hookers/mistresses/whatever. Fox News claims that because “former madam” Michelle Braun discussed Tiger hiring hookers, it’s perfectly possible that Tiger Woods might be charged with “patronizing a prositiute” which is a misdemeanor in New York. Fox News asked lawyer Tom Kenniff (who does not represent Tiger) about the possibility: “He could be charged with patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor in New York. Depending on the statute of limitations, if there are witnesses swearing out statements, and there is a money trail that can be corroborated, it’s a reasonable likelihood” that Woods could be charged. The possible sentence? A year in jail, maybe. And the New York district attorney’s office is not confirming or denying whether there’s an on-going investigation, or whether charges are being considered. If Tiger does got charged, let’s see if Nike still sticks with him.

UPDATE: Accenture, the business/management firm has now dropped Tiger. The Wall Street Journall reports Accenture’s statement: “”After careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising.” Accenture also announced that they will be doing an entirely new ad campaign without Tiger for 2010.

Now we all know why pro golfer Tiger Woods was so desperate to protect his privacy last week. Apparently, the National Enquirer and US Weekly were only hitting the tip of the iceberg with their cheating reports. Currently, the number of women in Tiger’s infidelity harem is now at seven - and could be climbing. So, how is Tiger coping? Sources say he’s trying to convince wife Elin to go away on a secluded vacation with him. Because after finding out your husband’s been sticking it in at least seven other women while you were carrying his children, of COURSE you want to spend all kinds of time with him, right? Ugh. Is anyone else reminded of the last-ditch reunion effort Chris Brown and Diddy tried to orchestrate with Rihanna? That didn’t work, and I doubt a vacation is going to help this situation, either.

As the names of Las Vegas party planner Jamie Jungers, New York club regular Cori Rist and Orlando restaurant manager Mindy Lawton’s names are added to the mix, this column has learned another reason for the ongoing intensity of Mrs. Woods’ fury over her husband’s transgressions.

Tiger’s spouse’s rage was further fueled after she learned two of the women allegedly involved with her husband — Lawton and Jungers — had actually had trysts with the superstar golfer at the couple’s Windermere, Fla., home. ”While Tiger’s straying mostly took place in Vegas, New York or elsewhere in the Orlando area, it was those two supposed flings at their home that has got Elin crazy angry,” said a longtime Woods associate. ”Could you blame her?”

• Despite the ongoing revelations, I’ve also learned the Woodses are continuing to work on saving their marriage but would like to find a way to do it outside of their Florida home where they’ve been virtual prisoners — hiding from the ever-present media surrounding their exclusive enclave. They would like to figure out a way to escape from Windermere and fly somewhere where they could have total privacy.

”These days, that’s virtually an impossibility,” said my source, who added they would need ”a private preserve with total security, in like Montana or Idaho.”

• According to a Las Vegas casino executive who knows model and party promoter Jungers, the 26-year-old blonde is known for her obsession with celebrities. According to the Bellagio Hotel honcho, an engaged Jungers previously — and unsuccessfully — attempted to hook up with Charlie Sheen, Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter.

• Another casino manager, originally from Chicago, told me Saturday he agreed with that analysis of Jungers, but added that kind of behavior was also true of the other alleged Woods galpals Jaimee Grubbs, Kalika Moquin and Rachel Uchitel. According to the source, landing a famous man is ”a full time job for women like them.”

Tiger’s also mulling over the possibility of coming clean on the Oprah Winfrey Show as a last-ditch effort to save his marriage and career.

Tiger Woods was last night urged to confess all to chat show queen Oprah Winfrey – as allegations of a SIXTH mistress emerged.

The golfing star’s team of lawyers and PR advisers are desperate for Woods to spill the beans on Oprah’s sofa, possibly alongside his devastated wife Elin.

A source said: “Everyone around him believes it is the only way he will salvage any respect or even attempt to rebuild his family man image.”

I’m sure Oprah would love this - imagine the ratings! But at this point, why bother to “rebuild his family man image” since everyone knows it was all a lie in the first place? If the newest reports are to be believed, Woods has been having sex with other women practically since day one of his marriage to Elin. I don’t see how he can put out any kind of statement saying that his wife and children are his first priority now, since clearly, they never were. How does a supposedly devoted family man even have time to interact with his wife and kids when he’s juggling seven mistresses? I can’t see a scenario in which Elin chooses to stay with a man who has never been faithful to her. Not even with millions of dollars as an incentive. There’s only so much humiliation one woman can take.

UPDATE: The list of “Why Elin should divorce Tiger ASAP” just got even longer. New sources are revealing the following: the number of skanks Tiger was slamming is now at ten. That’s right: ten. A If you care to see the whole list, People has them for you, including one woman hilariously identified as “Anonymous Florida Cougar.” Also, it’s now being reported that Woods refused to use protection with at least two of the women.

Jaimee Grubbs — a 24-year-old cocktail waitress who broke the news to Us Weekly that she had a 31-month affair with Tiger Woods — says the golfer, 33, never wanted to use protection.

“He didn’t use a condom,” says Grubbs, who adds that Woods also didn’t ask if she was on birth control, either. “It wasn’t even discussed. He just never used one.”

Apparently, he also didn’t use condoms while bedding 33-year-old restaurant manager Mindy Lawton, according to Lawton’s sister, Lynn. “She said he never wore condoms,” Lynn told British tabloid, News of the World. “I was so worried she might catch a disease, especially as we suspected he was promiscuous.”

Experts tell Usmagazine.com that not only did Woods risk his own life, but also the lives of his wife, model Elin Nordegren, and their two children, Sam, 2, and Charlie, 10 months.

“It’s self-destructive behavior,” says psychotherapist Rhonda Findling, author of Don’t Call That Man! “Sometimes it’s just momentary stupidity, but this seems like sexual addiction.”

And finally, The Daily Beast reveals that Tiger’s injuries on the golf course fueled a long-standing pill habit that led him down a path of promiscuous sex. The report also states that the star athlete was “snoring” at the scene of the accident, and his already documented Ambien use could have been the reason for the accident in the first place.

Florida police have not yet released a full report from Tiger Woods’ immediately infamous SUV crash on November 27, but the most curious detail to emerge came from a neighbor, Jarius Adams, who reached the accident scene almost immediately, dashed into his sister’s house to call 911, then returned.

“At that point, he was, uh, he [Tiger Woods] was snoring,” Adams told the police.

“He was snoring?” asked the investigator.

“He was actually snoring.”

Trauma doctors I interviewed said that Woods should have been hyper-alert because of the adrenaline rush naturally associated with such unexpected excitement and stress. Various reports have suggested that Woods’ crash was influenced by prescription medication, taken for an injury. But one law-enforcement officer, familiar with the investigation, tells The Daily Beast that police on the scene suspected that Woods was disoriented and loopy because he had taken Ambien, a highly popular prescription sleeping pill. A person familiar with Woods’ medical treatment two years ago tells me that Woods has used prescription sedatives, when injured, to help him sleep.

As far as Tiger’s advisers and family were concerned, the potential problem, this source stressed, was more focused on whether the prescription pills might take a minute edge off Tiger’s reaction time and somehow adversely affect his game. But at least one physician was concerned enough to directly raise with Woods the potential of addiction and his need to wean off the pain pills.

Here’s my take on the accident: Tiger gets busted texting one of his slam hounds, but has already popped his nightly Ambien. Elin confronts him and he takes off, in no shape to drive - as evidenced by the fire hydrant/tree. Elin comes out upon hearing the crash and sees her husband seemingly unconscious (read: fast asleep!) in the drivers’ seat. The car is likely locked - most new cars have an auto-lock feature - so Elin grabs a golf club and smashes out the rear windows to get to Tiger. Who is snoring.

David Letterman has gotten the boot from his wife Regina, according to the National Enquirer. It’s not necessarily permanent, however. Apparently Dave sort of bungled his attempts to make things better with her after he failed to acquiesce to her demands that he confess to everything he’s done. According to the Enquirer’s source, that’s when Regina got so frustrated she kicked him out, and he’s been living in his Manhattan pied-à-terre ever since.

David Letterman has moved out of his family home after failing to patch things up with his outraged wife Regina, sources tell The Enquirer. Mired in a sex scandal, the 62-year-old “Late Show” host is now living in his luxury loft in lower Manhattan, while his wife and son stay at his mansion in New York’s swank Weschester County.

“Dave admitted he’s sleeping in the city after Regina let him have it. He took a few days off from the show so they could try to work things out,” divulged an insider at his CBS show. “But if anything, he may have made the situation worse. Regina demanded that he tell the complete truth about what he did with the women, but Dave hemmed and hawed. Now he’s moved out of the house. He said Regina told him to ‘get out’ and that’s exactly what he did! He hopes Regina will cool down in a few weeks and he can try again to set things right.”

Even though he publicly apologized to her, Regina, 49, is still furious about Dave’s illicit roance with his 34-year-old personal assistant Stephanie Birkitt, insiders say.

Regina has told Dave that she plans to make a decision about the future of the marriage by the end of the year,” divulged the close source. “Meanwhile, she wants Dave to think about his commitment to their relationship, and whether staying together is what he really wants.

“She doesn’t want to leave the marriage, and there’s no indication that they’re breaking up for good. But Regina wants to make sure he doesn’t hurt her again. She feels the scandal has made her a public laughingstock.”

From what I’ve read – and I’m no expert here – the only way for a couple to truly make their marriage work after an affair is if the partner that cheated truly is completely open and honest about absolutely every single thing. Not just about the past but also in the present – basically you get to keep nothing to yourself. I can understand how anything less would make the party that was cheated on constantly suspicious and worried and feel like they couldn’t trust them. And no matter what, it will take a long, long time for Regina to trust Dave again. With the lifestyle he lives, it’s perfectly normal for him to be gone for extended periods of time, to have lots of dinners out – he has endless money at his disposal, and lots of legitimate commitments. Which could also mask illegitimate behavior.

Honestly I can’t really see how someone could get past this no matter how sorry the other partner was. It does seem as though Dave is genuinely sorry, but it’s also been a long pattern with him. I guess it will depend on what Regina needs from him, and if Dave can fully give it to her.

I have upsetting news for all of us who adore the big, lovable lug named David Boreanaz. According to Star Magazine, David was having an affair with a New York woman named Rachel Uchitel. David has been married to his second wife Jamie Bergman for eight years, since 2001. David and Jamie have two children - 7-year-old Jaden and nearly 2-month-old daughter Bardot. Star claims that David has been having an affair with Rachel Uchitel since the spring, when his wife was pregnant. Star has a photograph of Rachel and David, but it looks like it was taken at a party and doesn’t really prove anything. Here’s Star’s report:

David Boreanaz and his wife of eight years, Jaime Bergman, were all lovey-dovey at the opening night of Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza on Oct. 16. But behind their smiles, the couple is dealing with a dark revelation: David cheated on Jaime throughout her recent pregnancy!

Star has learned exclusively that the Bones star — who welcomed daughter Bardot six weeks ago — was seeing brunette beauty Rachel Uchitel, a NYC events planner, since the spring when he celebrated his 40th birthday at a club she works for, Griffin. “He was attracted to Rachel and asked her for her number,” says an insider. “She gave him her card, and he texted her that night to have a drink with him. She went, and they had a major connection.”

During their relationship, which Rachel ended two weeks after Bardot’s birth, David and Rachel saw each other once a month in NYC or L.A., and spoke on the phone or via text message up to 50 times a day! Even though their romance was long-distance, when together, the chemistry was electric. “David would walk in the door, and they’d have sex right away,” reveals the insider. “He told her, ‘Every time I have sex with you is like the first time.’”

But although David promised to leave his wife, Rachel tired of sharing him with Jaime and their two children (the couple also has a 7-year-old son). The final straw for Rachel came when David was in the delivery room with Jaime for their daughter’s birth on Aug. 31. “He was on the phone with Rachel, giving updates,” says the insider. “That grossed her out, because she felt that should have been private.”

Ugh. If this has any truth, then I am sorely disappointed. However, I have serious doubts. On Live Journal, someone pointed out that the photo of David and Rachel looked weird, and could possibly be photoshopped. They also pointed out that originally the picture was from September 17th, when David was backstage at the Rock of Ages Broadway show in New York, if that makes any difference.

What’s the verdict? Is David a bad guy who cheated on his pregnant wife? Or is he the victim of nasty tabloid reporting? I have no idea. In every interview I’ve ever seen with him, he seems like one of the sweetest guys in the world. And I know for a fact that he and his Bones costar Emily Deschanel absolutely adore each other - if I were going to believe a “David Boreanaz is a cheater” story, I’d buy him and Emily before this other woman. The timeline in the whole David Letterman extortion/affair/scandal has been rather fuzzy regarding when he was cheating with staffer Stephanie Birkitt. Dave was married to his longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko last March. One of the big questions was whether or not he was seeing Birkitt when he was married, which is still unclear. But he was definitely seeing her within several months of his marriage. Last fall he and Birkitt spent time vacationing at his Montana ranch – the same place he married Lasko in March. Tacky for sure. The NY Post (via PopEater) has a bunch of other interesting details as well.

Not long after David Letterman made a public apology during Monday’s episode, more scandalous details about his affair with ‘Late Show’ staffer Stephanie Birkitt started to surface — including diary excerpts about their sexual relations.

Birkitt’s diary revealed that she and Letterman enjoyed romantic hikes last fall at his sprawling ranch in eastern Montana — where he was married in March — while her boyfriend Robert “Joe” Halderman stayed home in Connecticut, sources told The NY Post. While she tried to keep it a secret, Halderman eventually found Birkitt’s diary in December and learned she was still carrying on a steamy affair with Letterman.

At the time, Birkitt, 34, insisted to Halderman that she and the 62-year-old Letterman had just “a platonic relationship,” a source said. “I’m his best friend,” Birkitt allegedly told her worried beau. Letterman would also drive Birkitt home to Norwalk, Conn., where she had been sharing a house with Halderman since he divorced his wife in 2004, sources said. The comedian lived with his longtime girlfriend and their son in Westchester.

Even after Birkitt graduated in June 2008, Letterman offered her a job as his personal lawyer. According to sources, Birkitt used the offer to persuade Halderman to have children with her, saying she would bring in the bucks with her new job and he could stay home. He and Birkitt had stayed together until last month, when they split up and his financial and emotional turmoil hit a breaking point.

Who are these sources? I understand that a lot of tabloids don’t print their names, but at least give us something to back up that they’re reliable. It all sounds legit to me, but more than anything I’m curious about who would have such detailed information about something that was a secret. It sounds like it’s coming from someone who has access to Birkitt’s diaries. I’d think if she told any friends about the affair, it might have come out already.

It makes me wonder if the leaks are coming from the D.A.’s office, or if perhaps someone in Robert “Joe” Halderman’s camp is spreading the information to make Letterman look bad. And to be fair, he already looks bad, though I believe he’s handled this whole thing as gracefully as possible. But he doesn’t look like a beacon of morality or anything. But since he’s the victim of an extortion attempt, people are obviously on his side versus Halderman’s. I imagine that Halderman and his bumbling lawyer, Gerald Shargel, could be getting desperate for some public sympathy.

Obviously none of this makes Dave look good. It’s awful of him to get married in the spring at the same place he had an affair in the fall. How could he go there and not be reminded of Birkitt? That’s what bothers me the most. It’s safe to say more sordid details will come out, but I think that as long as Dave continues to handle it well and move on, he’ll probably escape relatively unscathed. But I can’t imagine how his marriage could last.
