Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens talk about their friendship

dgg-017668.jpg
The current issue of US Weekly features “Secrets of the New Power Girls” on the cover and has details inside about teen sensations like Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens and Rihanna. There’s a cute inset article in which Vanessa and Ashley, stars of the mega hit Disney special High School Musical, dish about their friendship. They say they love shopping and going to pilates classes together and that they are just good friends without any kind of rivalry that’s so common in Hollywood:

You two are super-close. What makes your bond so strong?
Ashley: I call her my twin sister. She’s always there for me. Some people are really competitive; we’re not. We’re really supportive of each other. You don’t find that a lot in this business.
Vanessa: We were never competitive in any way, shape or form. We completely understand each other. She’s a lot of fun, and she’s just grounded.

What do you like to do when you hang out together?
Vanessa: What do girls like to do together? Shop!
Ashley: Vanessa took me to get my first pair of Christian Louboutins. I love them!

Do you ever share clothes?
Vanessa: We totally do! It’s awesome. I still have my Uggs at her house. I’m like, “I need them back!” she’s like, “I can’t find your other show.”

What else do you share?
Vanessa: We go to pilates a lot. We just went this morning, and I’m really sore right now.

It’s refreshing that they talk about having fun shopping together and going to pilates. Ashley Tisdale is 22 and of age to drink, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen her at a Hollywood club or bar, and she would be welcome at the hottest places. Although Vanessa is just 19 she probably would be able to sneak into some clubs, but it doesn’t seem like she’s even tried. Hudgens had that naked photo scandal but the pictures weren’t that provocative and just featured her nude standing around. Overall these two have been good examples of how to have a relatively normal young adult life in the spotlight, and it seems like that’s what US is focusing on in the light of all the public problems that the Spears girls and some other former child stars have been facing recently.

US also has separate interviews with best friends Vanessa and Ashley. Vanessa reveals that she doesn’t like her littlest fans following her around and that helps her realize she’s too young for marriage and children:

Though she’s dating fellow HSM sensation Zac Efron, 20, don’t expect wedding bells any time soon. “I’m way too young,” says the star… And forget about kids. “Right now, I do not like kids at all,” she says. “I love my fans and everything, but when you have little kids following you around all day, it’s like, ‘Oh, God, kids!’ Maybe when I get older that will change.”

[From US Weekly, print edition, February 4, 2008]

Vanessa says that one of the prices of fame is that she can’t wear casual clothing outside the house anymore. She wishes she could schlup around in sweats, but says she doesn’t “want to be caught wearing a nasty old shirt!”

In Ashley’s interview she reveals that she’s excited about a new Barbie doll of herself that’s coming out. She already has an HSM dolll, and says of the upcoming Barbie that “This one really looks like me!” She says her “face is 200 percent [sic] better now” after her nose job “to fix a deviated septum.” US also has a nice blurb about how Ashley met Celine Dion, who told her “Thank you for being such a positive role model for my son!” Ashley is currently dating backup dancer Jared Murillo, and is at work recording her second CD.

Ashley and Vanessa will next appear together in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to come out in theaters on October 24, 2008.

Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale are shown on 11/19/07 at the High School Musical 2 DVD Premiere, thanks to PRPhotos.

Zac Efron Loses Appendix, Gains Role In HSM3

dgg-017688.jpg
Zac Efron has his appendix removed! I really, really want to see it sold on eBay. Not that I’d buy it, but I think it is really strange the way people keep their body parts. I recently had a tooth out and the dentist offered it to me, and I’m all like “No thanks!”

The good news is that Zac is predicted to make a complete recovery, and he’ll be dancing prettily in no time, much to the relief of teenage girls the world over.

Zac Efron was hospitalized Tuesday for an appendectomy, his rep tells PEOPLE.

The 20-year-old High School Musical star was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the surgery.

“Zac had his appendix removed and is recuperating,” the rep says.

People

I don’t know anyone who has had appendicitis, but it seems like people get it all the time. Apparently it’s not caused by anything like diet, it’s just something some people get. And it hurts.

This come the day after Disney announced that all of the cast of High School Musical would be joining together again for a third installment. Now, I haven’t seen HSM, but I have bought an awful lot of the merchandise this Christmas, so I’m glad it’s coming back. At least that gives the actors another five minutes of fame, thus ensuring that my hard earned cash didn’t get spent on presents that will be considered dorky by the end of January. The movie is to be released at the end of October.

The third movie will feature Ashley Tisdale and her new nose, Vanessa Hudgens clothed, Zac Efron minus appendix, and will deal with the Wildcat crew’s fears about their future. Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) will be facing the future apart as they are going to different colleges. How are the gang going to cope? By staging a musical. Of course.

Zac is currently filming Seventeen with Matthew Perry.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Zac Efron is shown with Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale pre-nosejob at the HSM2 DVD premiere on 11/17/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

The Curse Of High School Musical

csh-031721.jpg

Vanessa Hudgens isn’t taken with being a celebrity – she probably enjoyed it more before the whole world saw her nude, but I can see other drawbacks in addition to her nudie pics suddenly becoming more valuable.

“It is a dog-eat-dog world,” the singer, who first came to prominence in the Thunderbirds movie, says. “People want to know about people’s business; no one really has a sense of privacy because everyone is trying to get into your business.

“And people become jaded and infatuated with Hollywood. I think it happens to a lot of celebrities and it messes with their head.”

While some actually like the extra attention, Hudgens says it’s not really for her.

“I don’t like people staring at me all the time and I don’t want people following me around,” she says.

“I became an actress and started singing and dancing because I truly loved it. I did not want to be a celebrity; I did it because I genuinely enjoy doing it. I think fame is just something that comes along when you are in something that is such a success.

“Fame is an interesting thing but my fans are very supportive and I thank them so much.”

Daily Telegraph

She also reveals that she was going to audition for American Idol, but couldn’t as the show has a minimum age of 16 to audition.

Zac Efron is also busy these days, playing a role in HSM3 (reportedly paying $3 million) and in a new movie with Matthew Perry titled ‘17’.

Zac Efron is attached to star in the new film, about a middle-aged father who wakes up one day to find that he’s somehow become a teenager. Matthew Perry, star of “Friends” and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” will play the older version of Efron’s character.

Access Hollywood

Can anyone say ‘Big’ rip off? Surely this wasn’t a good film to sign up for, it just sounds so lame. The character goes to high school with his teenage kids to get to know them better.

Are the HSM stars cursed? Vanessa Hudgens will probably disappear from film after HSM3, as she says it’s a ‘dog-eat-dog world’. And Zac Efron grows up to be Matthew Perry! That’s a curse if ever I heard of one. Watch out Ashley Tisdale. Then again, I could be completely wrong, it’s been known to happen occasionally.

Ashley Tisdale Starts A New Trend

Ashley Tisdale turned 22 yesterday – and had a party. An alcohol-free party.

The actress — best known for her roles in Disney’s “High School Musical” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” — kept her birthday bash rated PG, with no booze! Tisdale and her 20-something friends partied at The Beachbody House, hosted by Silver Spoon, where perks of the all-girl fiesta included free mani/pedis, kayak rides and a bar … with selections from Coffee Bean! The only alcohol was used for removing henna tattoos!

TMZ

Could this be Paris/Britney/Lindsay backlash? Where suddenly it’s going to be cool to be seen carrying around a water bottle again?

Actually, this party sounds like a ton of fun. Maybe Ashley saves her hard nights of drinking for regular days of the year, and does something different on her birthday? Or maybe the whole day at the beach was to get a manicure, pedicure, tan and henna tattoos all ready for the real party later that night? I’m onto you Ashley Tisdale.
