David Hasselhoff starts his own social networking site

The Hoff really does have an ego that knows no bounds. And for that reason alone, I find him utterly fascinating. Is it his curly hair? No. The voice of gold? No. The fact that the rest of the world has loved and appreciated The Hoff in a way America hasn’t? No. I love The Hoff for that crazy ego of his.

Actually I think he knows that he’s kitsch, and he’s just rolling with it. Which could perhaps imply a lack of ego, who knows. But whether the motivation is ego or just a smart PR strategy, The Hoff has done something few celebs have bothered with – he’s started his very own social networking site. Dedicated… well pretty much to The Hoff. And really, why waste time with conventional sites like MySpace or Facebook – sites everyday people will access – when you can make your very own version, dedicated solely to yourself?

David Hasselhoff’s new social networking site is proving a huge hit. More than 8,000 members have already signed up to Hoff Space. David, 55, launched the site because he was tired of people setting up accounts in his name.

‘I couldn’t really get the internet together but because Knight Rider and Baywatch and this Hoff thing has taken off so much around the world, we put together our own Hoff Space,’ he tells BBC Radio 1.

‘I was on MySpace and Facebook and I was getting a lot of phoneys. A lot of people were coming in posing as me or my children and I had to stop it, so I opened my own that is going to be fun and I can regulate it.

‘It’s a way of going around the world from Russia, to Japan, to Europe and getting a pulse on all the crazy people out there.’

[From NOW Magazine]

I think dealing with “phoneys” is just one of those things you have to accept when you’re on MySpace or Facebook. And while I get that it’s annoying, setting up your own social networking site has some disadvantages too. No matter what, you’ve got a smaller audience. It’s only going to appeal to people who are specifically looking for David Hasselhoff and are willing to take the time to set up an account just for him. Whereas on MySpace, you have people that are there anyway, and might become your friend and look at your information just because they’re there.

That said, 8,000 members is pretty impressive. And there’s a 50/50 chance I just became a member of Hoff Space in the last ten minutes. And by 50/50, I mean 100 percent.

Here’s David Hasselhoff leaving an Irish bar after a night out in Los Angeles on May 27th. Note the hotness of the shirt. Images thanks to WENN.

Mark Ronson diplomatically turns down The Hoff, performs with Lily Allen

Mark Ronson, in what may prove to be career suicide, has turned down the opportunity to work with David Hasselhoff. His excuse? He’s too busy.

He said: “He came up and was like, ‘Hey, I really love your stuff,’ and I was just taken aback. He stayed and watched our show and said that he’s got some new TV show and wanted me to produce a song with him. But I’m a bit busy right now!”

sify

Too busy for the Hoff? Too busy to work with the man who has given us classic covers of ‘Jump in my Car’ and ‘Hooked on a Feeling’?

Mark was at Glastonbury where Lily Allen performed a guest spot during his set. This was following the news that her Nana had died, as she told the crowd. It’s been a rotten year for Lily Allen, who has suffered a miscarriage and subsequently spilt up with boyfriend Ed Simons. Ed was also on hand to comfort her, I hope it means they are on good terms. Her television show wasn’t as successful as she or the network hoped, and she’s feuding with Perez Hilton. Hopefully her second album, which she has just finished, will put the focus back on her music instead of her personal troubles.

Mark Ronson is shown at the Glastonbury Festival on 6/29/08. David Hasselhoff is shown leaving an Irish bar on 5/27/08. Lily Allen is seen looking beat at Glastonbury on 6/27/08. That’s Kate Moss behind her. Thanks to WENN for these photos.

David Hasselhoff romancing 29 year-old “America’s Got Talent” contestant

David Hasselhoff served as a judge on the competition show “America’s Got Talent,” and according to the tabloids this week he came away with more than a paycheck and some much-needed publicity. 55 year-old Hasselhoff was seen at Coachella with 29 year-old singer and harpist Corina Brouder, who was a contestant on the show. The two are said to have stayed at the same hotel while they were away at the music festival and Hasselhoff even went to one of her live performances last month:

The American’s Got Talent judge spent the weekend with former contestant Corina Brouder!

“David had his arms around Corina at one point,” says an onlooker at the show on April 27. “They were flirting and acting very much like a couple.”

Corina, 29, a harpist and singer from NY, was saved from elimination during the show’s 2006 season when David, 55, chose her as his wildcard pick.

She didn’t grab the top spot, but David remained a fan of her music…

While David’s rep says the two are just friends, romance may be blooming. “Corina stayed in his hotel room,” says the insider.

[From In Touch, print edition, May 12, 2008]

David Hasselhoff has been in alcohol detox more times that I can keep track. He spent the Christmas holidays in rehab after an intervention from his family, but has been in detox since. He’s had a longterm girlfriend who stood by him through the tough times, but maybe she had enough and couldn’t take his ongoing addiction problems.

Hasselhoff was said to have behaved like he was wasted during a taping of America’s Got Talent on April 2 in which audience members said “he made no sense,” and seemed “messed up.” He fell asleep at the judges’ table at one point, putting his feet up and closing his eyes. [From In Touch, print edition, April 21, 2008]

Maybe the Hoff has found new love with a much younger woman, but given how he looked at Coachella it doesn’t seem like he’s beaten his demons yet. He had bruises around his eyes and generally appeared wasted.

David Hasselhoff is shown at Coachella on 4/25/08, thanks to WENN. Corina Brouder is shown in a still from her website.

Did Johnny Depp give David Hasselhoff a barber chair? (update: no)

thehoffdepp.jpg
Sometimes a strange piece of information crosses my path, like the fact the David Hasselhoff and ex-wife Pamela Bach are fighting over an antique barber’s chair. Pamela obviously doesn’t want the Hoff to have it, since she won’t let him back on the property to claim it. This seems like a strange thing to fight over, but then I realized that if anyone tried to make off with my Troll Doll collection I’d feel exactly the same way!

Fortunately for the Hoff, Johnny Depp, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, has a spare antique barber’s chair for him.

The Hoff, 55, has been fighting ex-wife Pamela Bach, 44, for for the right to return to her LA home to collect an antique barber’s chair.

But Johnny, 44, has saved him the bother by giving him the original throne used in his movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street instead.

Hasselhoff’s lawyer, Melvin S. Goldsman, said: “David is just so pleased to have the matter behind him.”

Daily Star

I know that this is a British tabloid and not the most reliable source, but this is probably the most interesting thing I’ve heard of in a long time. As far as I know the Hoff and the sexiest man alive (in my opinion) have no particular connection, unless it’s that the Depp children love the Spongebob Squarepants movie. It features the Hoff, making good fun of himself.

The next question I have to ask is, what do you do with an antique barbers chair? Are they comfortable to sit in? Do you have your own barber shop set up at home complete with barber’s pole? Or do you just like quirky antiques? A barber pole is actually red and white striped because barbers used to perform surgery for people, which in unsophisticated times was just draining blood from someone. The bandages would get stained red and be hung outside to dry, which is why we have a red and white barber’s pole. It’s amazing the little bits of trivia you can find online.

Note by Celebitchy: This story sounds too random to be true, especially considering the source.

Update: According to the March 24 issue of In Touch, a rep for The Hoff says this story is not true, and that’s a shame.

Even With Divorce Finalized, David Haselhoff and Pamela Bach Still Bickering

david_hasselhoff_pamela_bach_gossip_1.jpg
The nasty, two-year-long divorce and custody battle between former Knight Rider/current YouTube star David Hasselhoff and his ex-wife, Pamela Bach, was officially finalized in December. However, the less-than-harmonious ex spouses, who have two children together, are still arguing about the division of certain property. TMZ reports that the former couple appeared in court on Monday to settle a dispute regarding a golf cart and a motorcycle:

David Hasselhoff and his ex are currently in divorce court right now, arguing over who gets to keep one of the family jewels … their golf cart.

TMZ is in a Los Angeles County Courtroom today, where Pamela is asking why she should have to turn over the family golf cart and a motorcycle to David. Although The Hoff is not in attendance, but we’re told he wants both of the items ASAP.

In a late breaking development, the judge just ordered Pamela to return the motorcycle to The Hoff by Wednesday! The fate of the golf cart still hangs in the balance of justice.

[From TMZ]

Somehow, I can’t see Pamela Bach tooling around on a motorcycle or playing the back nine in her fake nails, spike heels and pancake makeup. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that she is holding onto this property with the sole purpose of further hassling The Hoff. Not that David has behaved like a saint throughout this whole ordeal. He has well documented problems with alcohol (do we really need to revisit the whole drunken, shirtless hamburger eating?), and the Daily Mail revealed that on their wedding day, David ambushed his bride-to-be with a last-minute prenup just before they walked down the aisle.

Regardless of whose side you’re on, one thing is clear: these two train wrecks have children together—isn’t it about time one of them took the high road for once and stopped this petty bickering? How about calling a truce on the court proceedings, and putting all that money you’ve been spending on lawyers into a therapy fund for the girls? They’re going to need it.

David Hasselhoff spent the holidays in rehab after family intervention

thehoff1.jpg
David’s Hasselhoff’s battle with alcoholism has continued well beyond the floor burger-eating video seen around the world. The National Enquirer notes that he’s been in the hospital four different times for alcohol poisoning since last October and that he was in and out of Cedars-Sinai twice in December for alcohol detox.

His family is worried sick about him and three of his sisters as well as his two teenage daughters, Haley, 15, and Taylor, 17, staged an intervention in early December. The Hoff spent Christmas and New Years in a rehab in Hawaii.

“David would drink a gallon of vodka and then pass out. He’d check into the hospital, come out, say he was fine, then do it again,” said the source.

During one of his last drinking bouts, the ex “Knight Rider” hunk even asked his 17-year-old daughter Taylor to drive to a liquor store for vodka, the family friend revealed.

“Taylor refused, and David tried to drive off. When his other daughter Hayley, who’s 15, tried to stop him, he scratched her hands,” said the source.

Finally, on December 8, the morning after his final hospital stay, Hasselhoff’s two daughters and three of his sisters confronted him about his boozing, said the source.

“David’s sisters - who’d flown in from different cities - and his daughters pleaded with him to come to his senses and go to rehab,” the friend revealed.

“There was crying and hugging until David got it through his thick head that rehab was what he had to do.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, January 21, 2008]

David’s daughters visited him in Hawaii while he was at rehab and the source reports that they said that he seems to be making progress. The article doesn’t clarify whether he’s out now or is still in rehab on the island of Oahu.

In late November the Hoff was overheard bitching loudly about the state of his career, which probably hasn’t improved much since. His chance at even a minor recurring TV role on a sitcom will have to wait until the writer’s strike ends. According to IMDB he will appear in Anaconda 3: The Offspring, which is listed as a TV show in post-production. He is also in talks for a cameo in the Knight Rider television movie. It looks like a reality show would be the only hope for The Hoff in this bleak strike period. Celebrity Rehab 2 would be thrilled to have him, but even though he’s become something of a punch line he strikes me as too dignified for that.

David Hasselhoff is shown on 11/17 at the opening of Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino with Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman. Hasselhoff is 6′4″, and he makes those two look so little! Danny Devito is said to be 5 feet tall.

David Hasselhoff back in rehab

91779896.jpg

David Hasselhoff is really struggling with his sobriety. The 55-year-old actor has been reported to drink as much as a gallon of vodka a night, and is suffering from extreme, severe alcohol poisoning as a result. Hasselhoff is currently back in rehab for the fourth time in two months. According to the Enquirer, his alcoholism is tearing his two teenager daughters apart. Hasselhoff has full custody of the two girls since he divorced their mother, Pamela Bach, last year. One would logically wonder how someone with such an extreme addiction could have full custody of his kids – but apparently he’s the lesser of two evils, from most reports. Hasselhoff went on an extreme drinking binge earlier this month – the sort that could kill most people.

[Hasselhoff] was rushed to Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center on Dec. 3 - and again on Dec. 5, the Enquirer has learned exclusively. Even more heartrending, David’s daughters Taylor and Hayley were heading to the hospital to see him “when they got a call that he wouldn’t see anyone,” an insider told the Enquirer. The girls are “devastated - absolutely heartbroken,” added an insider. Pals say the troubled entertainer often guzzles a gallon of vodka a night - and he was “extremely intoxicated” when he checked himself into the hospital Dec. 3. “David was a total mess,” a source revealed. “He’d urinated on himself, and his pants were soaking wet. He was drooling and slurring so badly you couldn’t understand a world he said. He seemed to be drifting in and out of consciousness. Friends were afraid he was going to die right there!”

[From the National Enquirer, Dec. 24 2007 print edition]

It sounds like Hasselhoff’s friends and family have a really good reason to worry – according to doctors at the hospital, his blood alcohol level was 0.5. Keep in mind the legal limit to drive is 0.08. I was once admitted to the hospital for an allergy attack and put in the same room with a man who had a .6 BAC. At that time I didn’t even know that was possible… at least without dying. Though the man was in and out of consciousness (at one point he rose to yell at me “Abracadabra, I’m going to grab ya! Which eventually morphed into “I’m going to stab ya!”) he was still up and quasi-conscious at times. When I asked the cop who was guarding him about it, he said he’d seen a 0.8 once, and that if a person is a severe alcoholic for long enough, their body can develop a tolerance to a level of alcohol that would kill someone else. For a multitude of reasons, one would logically assume that David Hasselhoff has had a pretty severe drinking problem for a long time. Frankly, it’s amazing that his career hasn’t suffered more as a result. In fact, a TV movie version of Hasselhoff’s show “Knight Rider” is currently being planned, and David is scheduled to make a cameo appearance. I have no idea why, but I’m really rooting for him to pull through this.

Jessica Biel voted the cleanest celebrity

dirtyandclean.jpg
There are some awards in Hollywood that everyone is always clamoring to win: Emmys, Grammys… SAG awards. Then there are some awards people don’t care about either way. The Blockbuster awards… the Nickelodeon awards… VH-1 Honors, crap like that. And then there’s the awards you almost don’t want to win, like cleanest female celebrity award. Which is certainly better than being voted the dirtiest celebrity, but it’s still such a weirdly specific honor that it’s hard to know how to respond appropriately. Jessica Biel has won the title of cleanest celebrity, as voted by SoCal Cleanse Detox users. I know, the greatest prestige. I’m guessing most of the voters didn’t stop to think that Biel is dating Justin Timberlake, who used to date Britney Spears. So the odds are pretty good that Jessica is now harboring at least three unique strains of Chlamydia – through no fault of her own, of course.

Jessica Biel has been voted the “cleanest” female celebrity. ‘The Illusionist’ actress and girlfriend of Justin Timberlake was named the most healthy-living star by SoCal Cleanse Detox users, while Amy Winehouse was voted the “dirtiest” and most unhealthy. While Jessica, 26, walked away with the SoCal Cleanse Cleanest Celebrity Award for the women, David Beckham won the award for the healthiest male star.

Pamela Anderson’s rocker ex-husband Tommy Lee was voted “dirtiest” male, with 45 percent of the vote, and recovering alcoholic David Hasselhoff was chosen as the second unhealthiest celebrity with 22 percent of the vote. ‘Rehab’ singer Amy, 23, who is currently battling drink and drug addiction received a huge 47 percent of the vote to be chosen as the most unhealthy female star.

She has won the offer of a 12-month supply of SoCal Cleanse Detox Formula - a detox supplement - and a Detox Lifestyle Makeover with Detox and Fitness Expert Cynthia Lea.

[From AZ Central]

Something makes me think that Amy Winehouse probably won’t be taking them up on their offer. I think it’s an anathema to even say the words “Amy Winehouse” and “detox” in the same sentence. Ironically, it’s probably the celebs voted “the cleanest” that are most likely to avail themselves of a detox. In the last year I have done three colon cleanses and one two week detox. Amy Winehouse may have the guts to stick needles in her arm and have a tube shoved down her throat, but there’s no way she’s strong enough to endure day 3 of the Colon Blow regimen.

David Hasselhoff has a tantrum

sgg-073015.jpg

I think David Hasselhoff’s career is in just the right place. I mean he’s David Hasselhoff; he’s a punch line to like 36 jokes, what more does he want? A lot, apparently. The Hoff is not pleased with the state of his career and the types of roles he’s been offered lately. And apparently he blames his agent. I don’t want to be a jerk, but I think David has a little bit to do with it. And maybe all those cheesy CDs he put out in Germany. No offense to Celebitchy, who, as a future German, I assume must love David Hasselhoff (that’s a prerequisite for a visa, housing, and health insurance in Germany).

David Hasselhoff has been spotted having a “huge tantrum” over the state of his career. The 55-year-old star - a judge on US TV show ‘America’s Got Talent’ - was seen berating his agent in a foul-mouthed rant over lunch in the Beverley Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge restaurant on Friday afternoon, before stunning onlookers by storming out.

One fellow diner told the New York Post newspaper: “It was amazing. Everyone could hear that he was in a bad mood and complaining bitterly about the sort of jobs he has been offered lately. The fact that he was having a huge tantrum was bad enough, but when he just got up and stormed out everyone was sitting there open-mouthed.”

[From AZcentral]

Did it occur to him that maybe putting out “Don’t Hassel the Hoff: The Autobiography” wasn’t the greatest way to improve his serious acting career? Just a thought.

In other Hasselhoff news that seems to make David much less mad, his 15-year-old daughter Hayley just got a contract with the Ford Modeling Agency to be a plus-sized model. Hayley and David had an interview with “Access Hollywood’s” Nancy O’Dell the other day, in which they discussed Hayley’s modeling.

“Did you feel the pressures of Hollywood where everybody has got to be stick thin?” O’Dell asked.

“No I have always been up and down in my weight. It has always gone — I have been on diets. I have probably tried every diet since I was like 10,” Hayley replied. “So, I mean, I am not going to be a size 2 and I finally really looked at my body and I am comfortable with who I am. I think that’s what plus-size models should be — you know, that is what they represent. They represent girls who are voluptuous and have beautiful bodies and who actually are confident,” Hayley added.

“What was your first reaction when you saw (the) beautiful pictures of your daughter?” Nancy asked David.

“That she has got it. You know you either have it or you don’t have it,” he said.

[From MSNBC]

Something tells me Hayley may end up being a much bigger celebrity than either of her parents. Considering what loonies she comes from, she appears to be a normal, pretty smart kid. I’m guessing smart enough not to put out an album called “David Hasselhoff: Everybody Sunshine” and then blame her agent for everyone making fun of her. Especially since that’s not her name. You get the point.

David Hasselhoff denied lead in Knight Rider movie; got drunk after detox

David Hasselhoff was disappointed to learn that there’s going to be a movie version of his campy 80s show Knight Rider, and that producers aren’t even considering him for the lead part he used to play. He says he hopes he’ll get some kind of bit part in the film.

David Hasselhoff is furious after missing out on a role in the big-screen remake of his hit 1980s television show Knight Rider. The 55 year-old actor hoped to reprise his role as police officer Michael Knight for the film - but the movie’s producers have informed him the character is to be re-cast. However, Hasselhoff is confident he will make at least one appearance int he movie, if just to thank fans of the original show. He says, “I think fans will demand that I at least pop up in a cameo. I made the show and fans deserve it.”

[From Contact Music]

It makes sense that they wouldn’t want to cast Hasselhoff in the lead because he’s not really big screen material at this point. He would do well in an ongoing role in a sitcom, maybe even one in which he’s the lead, but a movie might bomb with him as the star and producers must realize that.

Still, this is the first I’ve heard of a movie version of Knight Rider. I think the article might be mistaken, because there is going to be a Knight Ryder remake, but Variety reports it will be on television for NBC and will be directed by Transformers director Doug Liman.

Hasselhoff also is said to have temporarily beaten his demons after being hospitalized to detox off alcohol following a recent relapse. He talked about his issues to People Magazine, saying that it was just a 24 hour problem that he took care of immediately. He said “I was doing great, and it just happened, and it took me 24 hours, and I just said, ‘You know what? Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!’” Hasselhoff explained that he didn’t do it to indulge himself, he just slipped up.

According to The National Enquirer, Hasselhoff’s relapse was worse than that. They say he was already in detox for two days and that he got out, got drunk again, and had to start all over again:

“David felt terrible that he’d let his family down by falling off the wagon again in a big way,” said the source.

“But after two days he wanted out. He left the hospital, but he didn’t get far.”

David “got ripped again” soon after leaving Cedars-Sinai, says the source.

“He was readmitted the very next day and was sick as a dog. Doctors had to start the detox process all over again.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, October 29, 2007]

While Hasselhoff may be facing a tougher battle than he’s admitting, he seems to be off booze for now and he does have the support of his girlfriend Michele Lilley. The Enquirer reports that she was by his side throughout his hospital stay and that “she’s completely devoted to him.”

Hasselhoff’s custody of his two teenage daughters, Taylor-Ann, 17, and Hayley, 15, does not seem to have been affected by his relapse. Keep your chin up, Hoff.

David Hasselhoff is shown at celebrity hotspot The Ivy on 10/17/07. It is thought that he went to the paparazzi-friendly restaurant to let everyone know he was OK after his relapse. Thanks to Splash News for this picture.
