Jamie Foxx’s stalker arrested in Philadelphia

music and entertainment 160309
Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler have been filming Law Abiding Citizen in Philadelphia since the beginning of the year. We’ve heard some semi-regular updates on filming, especially with regards to Gerard and his nakedness. But Jamie Foxx has been pretty quiet. Someone was keeping tabs on the Oscar winner though.

The guy’s name is Steven Taliver, and he’s Jamie Foxx’s stalker. He attempted to force his way into Foxx’s Philly hotel suite by pretending to be one of Beyonce’s producers. When Foxx realized Taliver was a whack job, Foxx managed to keep Taliver from entering the hotel room. US Magazine’s timeline is a little sketchy, but I think Taliver must have left the hotel, only to continue his stalking the next day or several days later on the film’s set. Foxx’s security team noticed the man, called the police, and Taliver was arrested:

A man who forced his way into Jamie Foxx’s hotel room last week was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stalking and other charges.

On March 22, Steven Taliver, 49, barged into the Oscar winner’s Philadelphia hotel suite after posing as one of Beyonce’s producers, according to TMZ. After realizing he didn’t know the man, Foxx reportedly managed to keep him from fully entering the room and slammed the door.

Taliver was booked after Foxx’s security team noticed him near the set of Foxx’s new movie, Law Abiding Citizen, and called the police. He was then taken into police custody.
Although Foxx couldn’t discuss the altercation due to legality concerns, he said he was fine.

“I’m good now,” Foxx told Access Hollywood Thursday. “Shout out to Philadelphia and the mayor and everybody else to make sure it’s good.”

He added: “Sometimes you have to make sure every move you make in life is the right thing, and that you have people there to watch your back.”

From US Magazine

Sounds like everybody did the right thing. Except for the stalker, of course. It sounds like Foxx was alone in his suite when Taliver tried to enter. If Jamie’s security team was on site, wouldn’t they have helped him? So he must have been alone. I don’t care how big and tough Jamie Foxx is, that situation must have been scary. Let’s hope Taliver gets the kind of punishment that will keep him away from Jamie Foxx.

Gerard Butler replaced by Paul Bettany on ‘horror-western’ film ‘Priest’

bafta tea party 110109

Paul Bettany is pretty cool, though he’s no Gerard Butler. So it comes as a surprise that Gerard Butler was replaced by Paul on the soon-to-be filmed “horror-western” film Priest, based on a graphic novel. According to My Park Mag, Priest is about “a warrior clergyman who confronts a band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece… It is an adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book, which is based in a world that has been ‘ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire’.” Yikes.

Paul Bettany is to star as a priest in a new horror movie.

The ‘Match Point’ actor has been approached to re-team with his ‘Legion’ director Scott Stewart in ‘Priest’ after ’300′ star Gerard Butler dropped out of the project.

Clint Culpepper, president of Screen Gems who are making the movie, said he believed the ‘Da Vinci Code’ star was perfect for the title role in the new film.

He said: “I knew the minute I saw Scott’s first cut of ‘Legion’ that Paul was ‘Priest’ and I mentioned it to him immediately.”

Described as a horror western, ‘Priest’ follows a warrior clergyman who confronts a band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

It is an adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book, which is based in a world that has been “ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire”.

[From My Park Mag]

Who thinks of this stuff? I can never tell if these kinds of graphic novels (the kind where you have to believe the earth has been “ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire”) are extremely creative or so utterly boring.

In other Gerard Butler news, the film that he did a year and a half ago has gotten a new name. It was called Game, but will now be called Citizen Game. Like a play on Citizen Kane. The film is another one of these futuristic bloodfests, so don’t go expecting a romantic comedy:

Lionsgate has released the first photo from the film that used to be called Game starring Gerard Butler, but is apparently now titled Citizen Game.

The picture is directed by Crank duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and stars Gerard Butler as Kabel in a futuristic film in which Kabel participates in Slayers, an ultra-violent multi-player online game in which millions worldwide tune in online to watch him and hundreds of other convicts battle.

As for the new title, I have no idea if this is supposed to be some sort of play off Citizen Kane or if it is to imply the citizens fuel this violent game or what, but it just seems silly.

However you look at it, Citizen Game is set to hit theaters on September 4.

[From Rope of Silicon]

Yes, it all seems very silly. Here’s my question: are Paul Bettany and Gerard Butler on the same playing field? Paul is a really talented actor, but I can’t really see a big, futuristic action film falling on his slender shoulders. He should be doing thoughtful, quiet dramas, right? Now, if Gerard Butler had stayed on to play the vampire-killing priest, I might have bought it.

Gerard Butler is naked & giving away massages in Philadelphia

90102X7

Since the beginning of the year, my imaginary boyfriend Gerard Butler has been in and around Philadelphia filming Law Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx. It’s been a relatively tight set, believe me – I’ve been trolling the Philadelphia media outlets for any hint of what’s happening with my boy. The biggest “scoop” I’ve seen was Gerry’s comments at some event where the Philadelphia mayor honored the cast and crew. Gerry mentioned to the press that he likes a woman who can talk dirty to him. Yowzah.

The NBC affiliate in Philadelphia put up a nice, funny little story about the film production. Whoever authored this piece sells it as “Gerard Butler naked and giving away massages” which made me squeal a little bit, I’ll admit. Here are the details:

All right, I know I’ve gotten your attention by selling the story like a cheap, cheap whore. So let me be clear:

1.) Gerard Butler is naked in the Philadephia area [Friday].
2.) Gerard Butler is a kind man who brings a masseuse on set for the tired and sore crew members.

Butler stars in Law Abiding Citizen, the F. Gary Gray movie that has been filming all over Philadelphia in the past two months, with co-star Jamie Foxx. [Friday] Butler [was] filming nude scenes on a closed set in New Hope. Though the movie has also filmed at prisons in the Northeast and Delaware County, Butler’s nudity is not for a dropping-of-the-soap prison scene. Our source said that the nudity in question is for a scene in which police break into Butler’s character’s home.

Our confidential informant has yet to answer whether or not Butler is still in “300” shape, or tell us any other naked truths. Our informant is a very, very straight man. Which is annoying in this situation.

As for the massages, Butler personally paid for a masseuse to come on set last week so that the exhausted crew, which has been working days and nights, could relax a bit.

Butler is the Scottish actor best known for his role of King Leonidas in 300 and also starred in Phantom of the Opera and that Hillary Swank chick flick P.S. I Love You (P.S. It’s horrible. But we won’t hold that one against him.).

[From NBC Philadelphia]

Oh. My. God. This movie has a scene in which a naked Gerard Butler is running away from the police? Please, please, God, don’t let this scene be cut. This scene makes my life. This scene gives me hope for a just world. This scene could stop wars. This scene could help the sick. The sick of mind, I mean. The kind of sickness that only a naked Gerard Butler can cure.

As far as the massages go, that just seems like a really nice thing to do. I’ve read that Sandra Bullock does something very similar on every film she produces, she hires two massage therapists to help the whole cast and crew. Gerard Butler is such a sweetheart. A naked sweetheart. Running from the police. God, I can’t wait for this film.

Here’s Gerard as close to naked as I could get him: on vacation in Florida in January. Images thanks to BauerGriffinOnline.

Gerard Butler: ‘it would be great to settle down’

fp_1933955_elton_john_afterparty_rij_022209

Gerard Butler gave a recent interview to a site called Deadline Scotland. I’ve never heard of this site, but it does seem like Butler gave the interview directly to them, and they got a decent scoop. In the interview, Butler gives up some juicy information on his love life, his career and how much he misses his homeland, Scotland.

Butler has lived, for the most part, in Los Angeles for almost a decade. Even with all of the California sun and all the wannabe actresses he can get his hands on, Gerry is still brooding for Scotland. He also talks about his “longing” to settle down, and why it‘s difficult for him to be in a long-term relationship. You can just tell, he’s talking about me. The only long-term relationship that Gerry could have would be with me, I know we could make it work. More from Deadline Scotland:

Scottish hunk Gerard Butler misses his homeland – despite the fact that he moved away as soon as he graduated in the early nineties. The actor now lives in the US, but says that his heart will always be in Scotland.

He said: “I miss the people and the countryside. Scotland is such a beautiful country and I know that whenever I return and look at that it’s like big therapy for me, everything relaxes, and I’m inspired and relaxed all at once… I also miss the people, the humour. I was out with a buddy of mine in New York who is Scottish and my side was splitting, just the way he said things. I miss that about being in Scotland – that sense of humour, that sharpness.”

But if rumours are true, Butler may soon be back in the country making a new film about the life of Robert Burns – a project he has always been keen to do. His high-flying Hollywood career takes him all over the world from his base in America – and it’s not just his homeland that he’s missing out on.

The 39-year-old revealed that he’s been unlucky in love – although he credits his loneliness with the success he has achieved. He said: “It would be great to settle down but at the same time I sometimes think if anything had happened differently and I was in a long-term relationship I wouldn’t be where I am now in my career.”

“If I’d had to make the sacrifices that a relationship would have required, I’d probably be a lot happier in some respects, but I wouldn’t have been as successful. I wouldn’t have advanced as far in my career.”

“A lot of happiness comes out of the excitement of watching your career progress and jump forwards and there’s also a lot of happiness you can get out of being in love and being in a relationship. The comfort and foundation you take from that is not something you get when you’re being crazy busy and successful and traveling all over the place because at the end of the day you’re not in a relationship.”

2009 sees the heartthrob on the screen in two new films – The Ugly Truth, a romantic comedy with Katherine Heigl, and lending his voice for The Mariner in the animated film Tales of the Black Freighter.

[From Deadline Scotland]

Can’t you just hear the catch in his throat when he talks about love? Like he’s had such success in his career, and now he wants to share it with someone. Swoon!

Jokes aside, I give Gerry a lot of credit for being realistic about career versus love life. I often wonder how some of these couples make it work when the two people in the relationship are traveling in different directions eight months out the year.

It’s also nice to see that the Robert Burns movie is back on – Butler has been trying to get the funding for that film for years. It’s his passion project, and I hope everything comes through.

New Couple Alert: Gerard Butler and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra

gerard butler jamie foxx 230109
Even a badly-dressed hottie will still get the ladies. One lady in particular, and no, it’s not Hayden Panettiere. The rumor going around is that Gerard Butler and Bollywood actress Privanka Chopra are a hot new item. The two met in Dubai (random, right?) and Chopra has given a couple of interviews saying, basically, that she’s very fond of the Scottish heartthrob.

Privanka Chopra won Miss World in 2000, and her beauty queen status allowed her entrance into the Bollywood film industry. According to Wikipedia, she’s hot stuff in India, but not well-known outside of the subcontinent. She’s very pretty, but I can only think Gerry’s working his way around to me. Please!

Scottish actor Gerard Butler has reportedly found love with a former Miss World.

The 300 heart-throb was linked to a string of Hollywood beauties, including former Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

But he has now fallen for Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra – who was crowned Miss World in 2000 – after meeting her at a hotel opening in Dubai, according to British newspaper the Daily Record.

A source tells the publication, “Priyanka and Gerard hit it off really well in Dubai and have maintained their friendship ever since. They have kept in touch via phone calls and text messages.”

From Contact Music

Oh, text messages! I would “text message” the hell out of Gerard Butler, but I digress. I tend to think that most of the rumors are coming from Priyanka’s side, that she may be using a relatively innocent relationship to try to boost her career. Or, hey, maybe it’s a real love connection. She seems like his type – two legs and a pulse. I joke! Gerry has standards. I think.

Here are photos of Priyana Chopra taken on 2/2/09, 11/20/08 and 12/2/07. Gerard Butler is shown in Philadelphia with his co-stars in the upcoming film Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray and Jamie Foxx, getting a liberty bell from Mayor Michael Nutter on 1/23/09. Credit: WENN

Gerard Butler is badly-dressed for NY Fashion Week

wenn5248507
Gerard Butler has been seen! He’s been taking a break from filming Law Abiding Citizen in Philadelphia to attend some parties and go to Fashion Week in New York. He attended Justin Timberlake’s William Rast show, where USA Today noted that JT is attempting to bring acid-washed jeans back in a big way. So much for GQ’s Most Stylish Man, huh? I wonder if Gerry likes acid-washed jeans.

All of this is barely news, I know, but I wanted to write about Gerard Butler. There hasn’t been any big breaking news about, or even one little interview with Gerry lately, but he has been spotted several times the past week! First was a friendly little appearance at the Victoria’s Secret “What Is Sexy?” show last week, where he was photographed in a friendly way with barely-legal Hayden Panettiere. CB didn’t think it was anything at the time, but I knew better! Now there’s word that Hayden and Milo Ventimiglia have split. I don’t consider it coincidence. Cue dramatic music.

LaineyGossip isn’t a big fan of Gerry (she calls him Spittle, which is totally harsh), but she makes a good point about his absolutely horrible style:

Gerard Butler has been enjoying the sights and sounds of NY Fashion Week and, well, not even his friendship with Anna Wintour can help with his icky cheese.

Like please make him stop.

[He arrived] at Bryant Park with a guest last week and also last night at William Rast, posing in his awkward bulgy bad wash jeans and an inexplicable crop sweater underneath his leather jacket which, thankfully, went missing later on as he caroused with friends when leaving the venue.

Throw it all together with some spittle on top and…

Ew!!!!

From LaineyGossip

See, I don’t love Gerry for his fashion sense. I love him for altogether different reasons. He dresses like a heterosexual man who hasn’t been trained by a long-term girlfriend. Which, I have to say, gives me hope. I really hope he and Hayden aren’t together (doubt it, CB may have been right). But maybe he’s attending all of those fashion shows to get a clue about how to dress? Here’s hoping.

Gerard Butler claims he’s not a womanizer

wenn2239227
Hot Scot Gerard Butler is trying to get back on my good side. After being linked to Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Campbell, Shanna Moakler, and, worst of all, Paris Hilton, Gerry is speaking out. He claims that if he was having affairs with all of those women, he would be “exhausted”. Sounds like a non-denial denial to me, but I get very touchy about this guy. Britain’s Sunday Mail has the details.

Movie hunk Gerard Butler has rubbished his reputation as a womanizer. He spoke out after being linked to beauties including Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz and Naomi Campbell.

The Paisley-born 39-year-old said: “Guys take a photograph of me speaking to someone and, apparently, I am having an affair with her. I’m having 10 affairs a day. It would be just too exhausting and I’m not that sort of guy.”

The 300 star hit out while in Philadelphia to shoot psychological thriller Law Abiding Citizen. Butler was spotted with co-star Jamie Foxx at a city restaurant.

An onlooker said: “Waiters heard him talking about having to ask his mum for childhood photos for the film.”

From Sunday Mail

Is it wrong that I sort of believe him? Or is this what’s called “denial”? If Gerry had an affair with even one of those women, I don’t really want him. After declaring that he’s “not that sort of guy”, I’m now wondering what kind of guy he is. A romantic, pining away for his one true love? (Me?) Or a wa-wa-womanizer, baby, to quote that pinnacle of denial, Britney Spears?

Unfortunately for all involved, Paris Hilton isn’t through with my guy. She’s fixated on him as her rebound guy post-Benji. According to the tabloids, Paris is “smitten” with the Scotsman she (by my research) has only met once.

Paris Hilton has forgotten all about ex-boyfriend Benji Madden – after falling head over heals in love with Scottish actor Gerard Butler, it has been claimed.

The Simple Life star split from Good Charlotte rocker Benji in November last year after several months of dating.

But Paris is now over the love split – and in the arms of RocknRolla actor Butler, the Sunday People newspaper reports.

A source tells the publication, “Since she met him she has forgotten all about Benji. It’s early days but Paris is quite smitten.”

Paris and Gerard were recently spotted together at Los Angeles night club Deluxe.

From Showbiz Spy

You might remember that Paris allegedly referred to Gerry as her “Braveheart” – a report that seemed like the tabloid equivalent of gilding the lily. I don’t buy that Paris is smart enough to make a Braveheart reference with regards to Gerry, and I hope and pray he’s too smart to have anything to do with Paris or any other woman he’s been recently “linked” to.

Hugh Jackman or Gerard Butler might star in ‘Phantom’ sequel

Hugh Jackman

Andrew Lloyd Webber is hellbent on composing a sequel to his musical “Phantom of the Opera”. He hopes to have the musical done by 2009, and he’s already got a name – “Phantom: Love Never Dies”, which sounds vaguely like a James Bond movie. People are already rushing to cast the soon-to-be musical, and the two names that keep popping up are Aussie Hugh Jackman and Scotsman Gerard Butler.

Butler played The Phantom in the 2004 film version, singing with a rock n’ roll kind of voice. He sounded a little bit like the lead singer of Nickelback, Chad Kroeger. Hugh Jackman has more of a “musical theatre” kind of voice, probably because that’s his background. One of Jackman’s big breaks was in a theatre production of “Oklahoma” and he won a Tony several years ago for his Broadway role in “The Boy From Oz”.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber says the long awaited sequel to “Phantom of the Opera” should be ready at the end of 2009, with a possible simultaneous opening on three continents. Lloyd Webber told The Times of London that he hopes the new musical, to be called “Phantom: Love Never Dies,” will open in New York, London and possibly Shanghai or another Asian city.

“We’ve been into the feasibility of rehearsing three companies at once and opening very fast in the three territories,” he said. “The one which really interests me would be China. I think to open ‘Love Never Dies’ in Shanghai would be an enormous thing.”

He said the locale of the celebrated musical will be switched from the Paris Opera to New York’s Coney Island. The sequel will be set about 10 years after the original, which has been seen by approximately 80 million theatergoers in 124 cities worldwide.

And who will play the Phantom? Lloyd Webber is keeping that secret for now. “We are pretty clear who our Phantom is going to be — I can’t say who,” he said. The Times said possible candidates for the role include Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler, who played the Phantom in the 2004 film version of the musical.

[From the Associated Press Hosted by Google]

Honestly, I think Jackman has a better chance at it. He’s proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he’s at home in musical theatre, whereas Gerard Butler bombed big time as The Phantom. I’ve also got money on Jackman throwing around some song-and-dance numbers as host of the 2009 Oscar ceremony, so perhaps Andrew Lloyd Webber will be watching and plotting for The Phantom’s next incarnation. The only downside is that whichever hottie gets cast, half of their face will be covered.

Gerard Butler and Paris Hilton?

First comes dinner dates and thigh caressing with Jennifer Aniston. Then the drinking. And now Gerard Butler is *allegedly* making the move on Paris Hilton – or is allowing Paris to put the moves on him. LaineyGossip is reporting that Butler and Hilton were seen at a club together.

Apparently [Paris Hilton] spread her virus all over [Butler] last week at Bar Deluxe in LA. They were spotted getting “cosy” in a corner as she affectionately referred to him as her Braveheart.

Seriously. How hurting is Gerard Butler that he’d have to scrape the bottom of the urinal with that piece of sh-t hanging off his junk?

[From Lainey Gossip]

Her braveheart? You’re kidding me, right? That’s actually the only part of the story that makes me question the accuracy of the whole report. I don’t buy that Paris Hilton is smart enough to make a “Braveheart” reference. Why or why can’t Gerry Butler just find me? (Actually, I don’t want him if he’s been with Paris.)

Is ‘Recovering Alcoholic’ Gerard Butler Back On The Sauce?

Something weird is happening. Every time I google “Gerard Butler naked” (every day), I’m finding endless pics of Butler leaving Los Angeles and New York bars. In most of the photos, he looks half in the bag. Eyes puffy and bloodshot, face red and sweaty with either a “happy drunk” or an “angry drunk” look on his face.

What’s weird is that in nearly every profile of Butler cites his alcoholic early days, when he was studying law in Scotland, his early benders and his subsequent swearing off of alcohol and the law to pursue acting. Celebitchy covered the territory in September.

Honestly though, Butler goes “on the record” about his alcoholism very sparingly. Most of the time the profiles of him just mention it in passing:

“After spending so many years in law, I was becoming really disillusioned and I feel as a person I was becoming more and more unhappy,” says Butler, with an expansive sigh. “And I think a big part of that was not even necessarily the law, but just doing something that I knew wasn’t for me.”

He had been drinking heavily, getting his kicks not from legal text books but from playing in a rock band called Speed (with other lawyers, no less), and generally building a reputation as Scots Law’s answer to Jim Morrison.

He took time out, travelling in North America, during which he fell in with an Irish crowd, with whom he spent an entire month drunk, and worked in a carnival. He was still drunk when he came back and went for a job interview as a trainee lawyer. He got it anyway, an early sign perhaps that his future lay in acting. But he could hide his disillusionment only for so long.

“I wasn’t thinking ‘What are you going to do?’, because I couldn’t imagine carrying on as a solicitor.”

[From IOFilm.co.uk]

If he’s not really an alcoholic or a recovering alcoholic, I find it hard to believe his publicist would let so many profiles of Butler go on and on about his early drink-soaked days. So I feel pretty good about saying that, at some point, Butler considered himself “in recovery” from his alcoholism. There’s never any mention about a formal rehab, so it’s more than possible that one day Butler woke up and decided to stop drinking. Much like George W. Bush, minus the spiritual awakening or ultimatum from Laura Bush (“It‘s me or the Jim Beam,” Laura allegedly told Dubya).

I believe experts call this condition being a “dry drunk”. Experts also consider “dry drunks” at a high risk for falling off the wagon. Judging him solely by the number of times he’s pap’ed entering or leaving a bar, I’m worried that Gerry is back on the sauce. Maybe he’s just depressed and unfulfilled again? This time because he hasn’t found his one true love? (Me?)

Picture note by Celebitchy: Gerard Butler is shown on 12/11/08 looking inebriated. I hope he was photographed in his car before he entered the bar and not afterwards. Credit: WENN and Fame
