Anne Heche thinks the actor’s strike will go ahead, can’t pay her child support

Anne Heche claims she can no longer afford to pay child support for her six-year-old son Homer, as she’s unemployed.

“I am continuing to look for work, but I have no offers pending and the impending strike by the Screen Actors Guild reduces my prospects for work even further,” Heche, 38, writes in court papers.

A judge Wednesday gave her a temporary break, saying she didn’t have to pay her next support payment to her ex Coley Laffoon, 34, covering the month of July. But Superior Court Judge Gail Ruderman Feuer ordered the actress to provide updated income and expense information.

In a court declaration, Heche indicated her financial straits were dire and that she can no longer afford to pay the $14,798 in monthly support, along with private school tuition for her 6-year-old son Homer, the mortgage on her house in Canada where Men In Trees filmed, rent on her Los Angeles home and car expenses.

“Since January 18, 2008, I have been unemployed and had no income from employment except for one very short-term contract for a movie role for which I received a total of $65,00, approximately the amount I received for one episode of Men In Trees, she writes.

I’m not sure where I sit on this idea. Anne’s ex-husband Coley Laffoon is getting a whole lot of child support for that kid, plus Anne is paying for his schooling. Coley must be damn pleased he married Anne, he claimed that his income was only $6,000 a year before he quit his job as a videographer to take care of Homer.

Anne, however, was making $65,000 an episode on Men in Trees, filming in Canada. Did she spend all of it? She lists her costs as being her mortgage, her rent, school tuition and child support for Homer, as well as her own car expenses. Why not get rid of one of your homes, or rent a smaller cheaper place? That money is going to take care of your kid, if you had custody of Homer you would still have to support him through the strike.

Reports are that the actor’s strike will go ahead, and a ‘defacto deadline’ of June 30th is preventing many films from beginning their shoot. Obviously Anne Heche thinks it will happen, and Hugh Laurie wants it to proceed. I am really hoping it doesn’t, in New Zealand we’re still waiting for new episodes to appear on TV following the writer’s strike.

Anne Heche says she “changed her mind” about being gay, closed that door

anneheche.jpg
Anne Heche was on the “Late Late Show” with Craig Ferguson and in his funny “roll with me” interview style he got her to talk about some pretty controversial issues in her life.

On cheating with James Tupper
Ferguson first asked her if she fell in love with James Tupper on the set of their show, “Men in Trees,” and she admitted that they did have feelings for each other on set.

Then Ferguson told a story about how he fell for a woman he was playing lovers with, and Anne asked “Were you married at the time.” Craig said “yes,” and she asked “And did you stay married?” and he said “no.” (According to Wikipedia, Ferguson has been married and divorced twice, so this could have been true.)

Heche said “Neither did I [stay married]” and “it happens.”

Both Anne Heche and James Tupper were married and had children with their spouses when they hooked up on set.

On the tabloids
Ferguson asked “Do you get bothered by that? All the tabloids… chasing you around? You’ve had a few adventures in the tabloids.”

“I’ve had a few adventures in life.”

On being gay
Craig reminded Anne of running into her years ago in NY when he was hanging out with British director Brian Gibson, and she half-heartedly claimed to have remembered him.

Craig joked that he was making out with him, and Anne said “I didn’t know Brian was gay,” and he quickly shot in “Were you?”

He said “You were gay for a bit… you have an open mind.”

Anne said “I have yes - had an open mind. But then I make decisions, ‘I have an open mind, but then I’ve learned about that. Fantastic’”

“I have an open mind, I can change my mind.”

“There’s a door, we can close that door. We can go to another door.”

Toward the end of the interview Craig asked Anne about filming in Vancouver and whether she would consider becoming a Canadian citizen. She said “sure.” He reminded the audience that her boyfriend and co-star, James Tupper, is Canadian and that she might consider Canadian citizenship if she married him. Last week’s Star Magazine reported that they were planning a June wedding.

Anne Heche and James Tupper to marry and have children

Everyone’s favorite cheating crazy person, Anne Heche, is planning to marry her Men in Trees costar just as soon as she settles matters in that pesky divorce with her porn-loving husband, Coley Laffoon. Heche and Tupper plan to make it legal as soon as they’re able, and Heche, 38, wants another child because the court hasn’t granted her enough opportunity to mess up her first one:

“Anne is very happy with James and wants to remain with him for the rest of her life,” a friend of the actress tells Star. “She calls him her soul mate.” Also on her agenda - a child with James! “Anne doesn’t get to see [son] Homer like she used to, and it kills her,” adds the chum. “She misses him terribly.” Homer, 5, lives in L.A. with dad Coley, while Anne is in Vancouver filming the ABC dramedy.

[From Star Magazine, print edition, November 5, 2007]

Heche was granted 50/50 custody of her five year-old son, Homer, with her estranged and soon-to-be ex husband, Coley Laffoon. It came out in their divorce that Laffoon has been the primary caretaker for Homer since he was an infant. Laffoon claims that Homer gets upset after spending time with Heche and that she is incapable of meeting his basic needs.

Maybe Heche thinks she can get it right the second time, or maybe she’s delusional enough to believe that she didn’t do anything wrong with her son and deserves another child. Either way, I hope she doesn’t reproduce again. If she does, maybe Tupper will get custody in the divorce. He’s got to be stupid enough to have a baby with her considering that he left his wife and child to hook up Heche and is supposedly about to marry her.

Anne and James are shown at the ABC upfronts in May, thanks to PRPhotos.
