Tamara Ecclestone’s incredible shoe collection: impressive or disgusting?

tamara1
The Ecclestone sisters are like The Kardashians and The Hiltons on steroids with an accent. They’re richer than both families put together and they have much more real estate, accessories and toys. They’ll tell you about it too. The last we heard from Tamara Ecclestone she was posing nude with one million pounds in real cash for that creep of a photographer, Tyler Shields. Tamara, 27, is one of the heiresses to the Formula One fortune and she has a reality show and home in West London worth $70 million dollars. Her sister Petra just bought Candy Spelling’s mansion, the largest in L.A. county, for $85 million. Petra defended her purchase, saying “I help as much as I can but at the end of the day, however much the house has costed, that’s not going to kind of I dunno, like change the world I don’t think.” She doesn’t seem to grasp that she could have built and fed an entire village for that money easily. Plus Petra’s wedding just cost around $65 million. It’s clear that Tamara has a similar approach when it comes to spending. In a new interview with British Closer Magazine, she shows off her shoe, bag and clothing collection, most of which she’ll only wear once. It’s worth well over six figures.

Petra Ecclestone became known this summer as the world’s richest bride. But her older sister Tamara is no slouch in the luxury department, either — particularly when it comes to shoes.

Tamara, 27, a TV personality in Britain and the daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone, opened her shoe closet to Closer magazine to reveal 100 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels, 15 pairs of Ugg boots, 20 pairs of sneakers (“though I never work out,” she tells the magazine) and a handful of Ginas and Jimmy Choos.

The value of her shoes alone? Easily $100,000, the Daily Mail estimates.

Her shoes and clothes take up the entire spare bedroom of Ecclestone’s apartment in London’s chic Chelsea district. She also owns loads of designer bags and dresses, and admits that she “usually only wears clothes once.” The Closer staff believes her entire wardrobe to be worth around one million British pounds.

“My mum’s horrified by the amount I spend on clothes,” the socialite shares. But she’s determined to change her ways. “People think I’m a spoiled rich girl, but I want to demonstrate that I’m more than just the daughter of someone famous.” For more with Eccelstone, pick up the latest issue of Closer, on British newsstands now.

[From People]

I’m so torn on this story because I love bags and shoes. I try to work within my budget but I do own bags and shoes worth over $200 a piece. Just a scant few mind you, but they’re there. If I had this kind of sick money, I might end up with a gorgeous closet too. I like to think that I’d get over this superficial crap quickly and do something worthy with my time, though. That’s probably completely inaccurate considering that I gossip for a living. Still, this chick wants to show that she’s “more than just the daughter of someone famous” and isn’t “spoilt,” as I’ve heard her sister pronounce it. The way to do that is not to show off her designer clothes and do a reality show. Maybe she should go easier on the makeup too. What is with this trend of spackling it on?

Satirical blog perfectly mocks Dina Lohan’s Shoehan line

dina lohan 081009

Here’s Dina promoting the real Shoe-Hans at Trump Plaza on October 8th. Image thanks to WENN.com .

Someone has created an absolutely fabulous joke blog mocking Dina Lohan’s shoe line “Shoe-Han.” Great name, right? Really, everything about it was just ripe for the mocking, from the terrible name to the fact that no one would want to wear anything designed by Dina Lohan, even on their feet. The only way I could be convinced to is if Dina’s face were emblazoned on the soles. Then I could step on her everywhere I went.

Dina’s supposed to have the shoes out by Mother’s Day – that gives her quite a lot of time to come up with something that doesn’t completely suck. In the meantime, the fabulous blog “Shoehans” has some joke shoes that Dina supposedly designed. And I swear if I didn’t know it was a joke blog from the get-go, I could absolutely believe that Dina really did design the shoes. They’re perfectly stupid.

There’s a pair of shoes with fellow E! reality “star” Denise Richard’s face emblazoned on them. Golden pumps, no less.

11

I and Denise Richards were both on reality shows on the E! Entertainment Television Network run by Ted Harbert who gave us both a chance luckily for her she got to keep her show(SHOWHAN LOL) but I did not, in any case she deserves a SHOEHAN.

[From Shoehan]

I love the “I and Denise Richards” part. There is a subtle way to nailing Dina’s stupidity. Someone who does know you don’t say “me,” but doesn’t know which order the “I” goes.

The creepiest Shoehans are the patent pleather heels with the My Little Pony attached heel. Dina markets it as “Be sexy and also you will appeal to children.”

ponyshoehan

BE SEXY AND ALSO YOU WILL APPEAL TO CHILDREN IN “MY LITTLE PONY” PATENT PLEATHER HEEL

This idea came to me in a dream JUST NOW AT 1:05AM EST I dreamed about beautiful young women prancing around Roosevelt Field Mall, maybe at the Ruby Tuesdays, in their sexual yet maternal new SHOEHANS

[From Shoehan]

The absolute best Shoehans are the boots which are either made for Jews or to celebrate Hannauka. It’s not really clear. Anyway, the faux-Dina says the boots are “reversible” – but look what she means by that.

2

Genius, right?

MENORAH JEWISH SHOEHANS- What should I call this new line of SHOEHANS: JEWHANS or SHOEHANNUKA?? I will start taking your votes now! (they are REVERSIBLE as you can see in the pictures below)

I work in Hollywood California therefore I know that Hannika is right around the corner. I also have my LISPH (Long Island SHOEHANS Production Hub) that is located in Long Island and of course run by Hebrews. Even though I am of the Christian persuasion, I will never forget about my business investors, lawyers, and my childrens’ agents when crafting my artistic visions through footwear.

[From Shoehan]

Personally I vote for Jewhans. I bet real Dina Lohan really does believe she’s crafting her artistic visions through footwear. Extra points for the classic misspelling of “Hannika.”

The site doesn’t have much information on it (the “About” section is filled out with, “I don’t know what this is for, obviously this internet page is about SHOEHANS aka shoes for all, look for them at every store soon” but I can’t help but wonder if this is from the same guy who did such a brilliant job crafting Dina Lohan’s fake Twitter account. Everyone believed it was really her for a while because the tweets were just dumb enough and just self-centered enough. And that faux-Dina didn’t understand Twitter’s 140 character rule. That account, while fake, hasn’t been closed down yet and still has some priceless gems. Check it out for more on the “toxic parent” and “not Christians.” Dina really is better comedic fodder than Lindsay.

Celebrity shoe designer Manolo Blahnik: “I hate celebrities”

jtm-039420
Manolo Blahnik was always known as one of the best shoe designers in the world, but his association with Sex and the City took his brand to the next level. Every time Carrie Bradshaw uttered the name “Manolo Blahnik” the shoes flew off the shelves in every part of the country. Now the man behind the shoes is trying to revise his reputation – it seems he doesn’t want to make shoes that every woman can wear. To be fair to him, his “I hate celebrities” quote might be taken out of context – he seems to really be saying something like “I hate when fake, reality-star-type ‘celebrities’ wear my shoes because they have no style.” Which is still pretty harsh, considering he makes an expensive luxury item that few women can afford and he probably wants his business to continue growing. But, whatever. I hate fake celebrities with no style too.

MANOLO BLAHNIK was being his usual infectious irrepressible self as he unveiled his spring/summer 2010 collection in Soho yesterday.

“I hate celebrities,” he revealed to VOGUE.COM. “All those pointless girls – I won’t name names, but you know who I mean. They are ‘famous’. Ridiculous. I like women with style: actresses like Uma Thurman, icons like Audrey Hepburn. I like women with style to wear my shoes.”

Women with style of any degree at all would surely be happy to sport a shoe from Mr Blahnik’s latest collection; a melee of colours and inspirations, perfectly fused with his signature delicate exuberance and presented with tea and cakes.

[From Vogue UK]

This sort of reminded of the controversy with Cristal champagne and the hip-hop/rap community. Back in 2006, Frederic Rouzaud, the managing director of Louis Roederer (the company that produces Cristal) was disdainful of the connection his champagne had within the rap community. He told The Economist that the company viewed the association with “curiosity and serenity” and when asked if the association could be detrimental, Rouzaud replied: “That’s a good question, but what can we do? We can’t forbid people from buying it. I’m sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business.” Yeah… all hell broke loose after that. Jay-Z called the guy “racist” and there was a boycott and everything.

So, would fake, unstylish celebrities boycott Manolo, or is making a mountain out of a molehill? I tend to think Manolo Blahnik should have been much more gracious with his comments, but maybe he doesn’t think they’ll hurt his business in the long run. By the way, if anyone would like to see a preview of Monolo’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, look at this loveliness. Sigh. I don’t care if I am not stylish enough for him, I still love his shoes.

Here’s Manolo at the Sex and The City DVD launch on 9/18/08. Also look who showed up at the “The Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style award in honour of Manolo Blahnik” on 9/25/08 – Lucy Liu, January Jones, Jennifer Coolidge, Hilary Duff, Nicky Hilton and Rick and Kathy Hilton. Paris was conspicuously absent. Maybe she can’t find his shoes in size 11. Credit: Apega/WENN.com

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy v. PETA: free shoes for anyone wearing leather

Barack Obama meets for bilateral talks with Nicolas Sarkozy in Caen
French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is trying to win over People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and it’s sort of working. Carla wrote a letter to PETA claiming that she does not buy or wear fur, and she only wears skin/leather products of animals “raised for feeding purposes.” Which makes sense in the larger view – use all parts of the animal, if an animal has to die, make sure everything is being utilized so there’s no waste. Except that how does Carla (or anyone for that matter) know if the leather products come from animals that are also being used for food? There’s the “cruelty-free” label, but from my understanding, that’s just for leather harvested from “naturally deceased animals.” Perhaps Carla thinks that if she’s wearing leather from cows, naturally, all of those cows have been made into a nice juicy steak. Mmm… steak.

PETA actually contained themselves when Carla admitted in the letter that she was not a vegetarian. PETA spokesperson Dan Matthews was able to get a handle on himself and managed not to scream, “No one can ever eat meat, ever, ever, ever!” Matthews only picked up on the leather stuff – he says that PETA is sending over some Stella McCartney non-leather shoes so Carla can “see that no animals have to be fashion victims.” Uh… if I send a letter to PETA telling them that I don’t wear fur (which is totally true), will they send me a pair of Stella McCartney shoes?

FRANCE’S Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has captured the hearts of animal activists in a big way.

In a letter to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, France’s first lady writes: “I do not wear, buy or own fur or animal skin other than leather or skin of animals raised for feeding purposes. I am not a vegetarian and I don’t find it illogical to wear skins of animals whose meat is also eaten.”

She adds: “I would gladly consider giving away sable, fox and other fur coats — if I owned any.”

PETA honcho Dan Mathews is impressed. “Carla’s obviously for ward-thinking,” he told us. “And when she gets the chic, non-leather shoes we’re sending from Stella McCartney’s Paris boutique, we’re confident she’ll see that no animals have to be fashion victims.”

[From Page Six]

I want a pair of shoes! PETA, I don’t wear fur! But I have a lot of leather shoes and purses – so maybe a couple of pretty non-leather purses from Hermes, or something?

It’s interesting that PETA decided to send Carla a pair of shoes – she recently gave an interview where she admitted she really regrets the focus on her flat footwear. She (and the international press) are obsessed with how she towers over her husband, and Carla has taken to wearing flats almost all of the time. Also, if you want to see some cool pictures of Carla and Michelle Obama’s“fashion face-off” in France this past weekend, Huffington Post had some good fashion coverage.

Sarah Jessica Parker says shoes are better than men & sex

Sarah Jessica Parker has managed to keep a pretty low profile since rumors came out that her husband Matthew Broderick had cheated on her. The family has been vacationing in Ireland for the last few weeks, but that hasn’t kept little bits about her feelings on love from leaking out. According to NOW Magazine, Sarah said that shoes are better than sex and men. Which makes you wonder a bit about the current state of her marriage.

Sarah Jessica Parker says she’d choose shoes over a guy – because they’re more dependable than men.

Talking about her Sex And The City character Carrie, the 43-year-old actress says: ‘She could probably count on a Manolo more than a man. So is it better than sex? Yes!’ she says.

And she says she has no problem walking in towering stilettos.

‘I could run a marathon in heels and wake up the next day and run another one,’ she tells Fabulous.

[From NOW Magazine]

Fox News also reports that SJP did indeed have her famous mole removed, even though her reps have denied it. They claim she did it not for cosmetic or health reasons, but to distract the tabloids from her marital woes, and give them something else to talk about.

“Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker has been accused of mole removal to take the heat off her marriage problems. “She needed drastic action and the media focused on that in the end,” a source tells me.

[From Fox News]

The mole removal story came out around July 16th, and the rumors of Matthew Broderick’s affair came out July 23rd, exactly a week later. It’s possible SJP had the mole removed as a preventative distraction upon learning of the affair. Or maybe she thought mole removal would save her marriage? Some women try to lose weight, some get a boob job, maybe SJP thought this could be her thing.

Say what you will about the woman, she strikes me as pretty intelligent. I seriously doubt she sliced off her mole thinking it would keep the tabloids from caring that her husband was (possibly) cheating on her.

Here’s Sarah Jessica Parker doing laundry while on vacation in Ireland yesterday. Images thanks to Fame.

Paris Hilton launches shoe line

What woman in her right mind would want to buy shoes designed by Paris Hilton? Unless she was designing some specialty line made for women with very large feet (Paris wears a size 11), or drag queens, I can’t imagine who would possibly be interested. The shoes are actually not ugly, though they don’t strike me as anything special either. And I’m guessing Paris didn’t have a thing to do with them, other than slapping her name on the box.

Paris Hilton debuted her new fall shoe collection at the Las Vegas Macy’s Fashion Show on Tuesday.

Paris, dressed in a soft, baby-blue gown, showed off her trendy new shoes at the event.

The new collection features a wide range of footwear, everything from platform stilettos, pumps and knee-high boots to flats, t-straps, and ankle boots.

Paris was inspired by the high-fashion runways in New York, London, Paris and Milan. The shoes mix “all things girly with a whole lotta rock-n-roll,” according to Thevegaseye.com.

The first 300 people that purchased Hilton shoes between July 19 and July 29 at the fashion show were given the opportunity to meet the star and receive a signed photo when she appeared in person on Tuesday.

Paris Hilton Footwear Collection shoes are sold at Macy’s, Kitson, Bakers and online at Zappos.com and Endless.com. Suggested retail prices range from $59 to $195.

[From All Headline News]

Paris has often lamented her size 11s – which are relatively large considering her height is generally reported to be around 5’7 to 5’7 ½. She’s noted that many of her favorite designers don’t carry shoes in her size and have to custom make them for her. I doubt they’d do that for the average buyer, so everything considered she’s pretty lucky.

Would you pay $225 for these shoes from Gwen Stefani?

The latest shoe offering from Gwen Stefani’s questionably styled and definitely overpriced l.a.m.b. line are these ridiculous sneaker pumps, priced at $225.

These look like something a Photoshop artist whipped up in a Worth1000 contest with the theme of “bad fashion hybrids.”

Commentors on ONTD, where we found this story, note that Victoria Beckham wore a similar white pump sneaker on her reality special. Commentor chung_chung includes this picture of Dries Van Noten shoes from the Spring Summer ’07 collection, which are the shoes Posh owns and look suspiciously similar to the ones from the l.a.m.b. line. I personally find them less hideous, but maybe that’s because they’re white and seem more understated.

chung_chung writes:

I can’t believe she’s suing Forever 21 for stealing her designs when all she does is steal others’ designs. She just tweaks a little more.

Maybe this was one design she should have left well alone, but I guess that could be said for most of the rest of the l.a.m.b collection too.

These remind me of those ugly sneaker pumps that J.Lo popularized a few years ago that were basically high top converse with a heel. They actually look decent in comparison to these sloped clownish numbers.

J.Lo has her own line of shoes, too, but they’re much more palatable and about half the cost of Stefani’s brand.

If you like these sneaker pumps for some reason, (maybe you’re one of those fashion-forward people that has enough other stuff going on that you could pull this off) you’ll have to wait a while to get your hands on them. They’re not yet available on the l.a.m.b. store’s website.
