Katy Perry denies pregnancy rumors: “I still love drinking alcohol so not yet”

While most women who are not pregnant would all but enjoy speculation upon the state of their womb (because such rumors generally stem from a few unwanted pounds), I think Katy Perry is secretly enjoying all of the rampant talk concerning her own uterus. Why? Because it takes some of the pressure off those pesky rumors of the demise of Katy’s year-long marriage to Russell Brand. While I wholeheartedly agree with Kaiser that Katy is certainly not above trying for a band-aid baby to “save” her ailing relationship, I also think that she’s still in denial about any speed bumps that she and Russell may have encountered. I just get the feeling that, at this point, Katy still thinks that her charming ways are all that she needs to fix things, and she’s not quite to the point of thinking a baby will cure everything. Yet, anyway. Hence the unequivocal denial that Katy has issued about recent buzz that she could be pregnant:

It’s no secret that Katy Perry wants to have kids, but the singer didn’t mince words at the American Music Awards as she shot down rumors that she is already pregnant.

“Hell, no!” Perry, 27, told Hollyscoop, when asked if there were children in the near future for her and her husband, Russell Brand, 36.

The rumors swirled Perry’s outfit at the AMAs seemed to show a little bump, but Perry assured them any protrusion was just due to diet.

“I like In-N-Out Burger and Taco Bell and if you want to make that pregnant that’s your problem,” she told The Insider. Among her other thoughts on pregnancy: “I still love drinking alcohol so not yet.”

During a concert at Madison Square Garden last week, Perry joked to the crowd that if she was rubbing her “bloated belly” during the show, it wasn’t because she’s about to be a mom. She said she had just been having too much fun sampling the “delicious” food in and around New York City.

[From People]

Oof. Here we go again with the Miss Insensitivity act in regard to her husband’s sobriety. Instead of merely stopping at telling the press that she loves junk food and/or isn’t ready for a child, Katy felt the irrepressible need to throw in yet another mention of how much she loves being wasted. Will she ever learn to shut her mouth on that topic? Poor Russell. If infidelity doesn’t kill this marriage, then Katy’s immaturity will eventually finish it off with no subtle measure.

Oh man. I will never ever want to be married to a guy who’s recovering from alcoholism, especially since I myself am almost a boozehound and loving each second of it.

    Cue “you’re immature!”

    • xxodettexx says:

actually i agree with you! i dont think you are immature for being honest about something you like to do!

i hope his sobriety isnt so weak that her merely saying she likes to drink in an interview is going to cause russel to fall off the wagon!

  2. ShanKat says:

Say what you will about her kooky outfits…her makeup is flawless.

She really needs to learn to zip it about the cocktails if she wants to keep Russy, though. Typical religious kid rebellion.

    • Original Tiffany says:

I am going to try that makeup look ASAP! Flawless. I don’t know why, but I love her. And I do love the color blocking with her shoes.

  3. LisaM says:

Prediction Bedhead it wont be Katy’s immaturity that ends the marriage, it will be Russells.

  4. mel says:

We’ll know when she preggars when she stops dying her hair.

  5. normades says:

I know people who have worked with Russel and say he is one of the funniest people they have ever met, very smart, great wit. I have not read “My booky wok” but aparently it’s really good.

But he is a former drug adict and if she doesn’t want him falling off the wagon she should def make her love of booze more discreet.

    • mln76 says:

I’ve heard the same and after reading Booky Wook I totally heart him, I still am expecting a divorce announcement by the end of the year.

    • Carolyn says:

“My Booky Wook” is worth reading just for Russel’s description of meeting Katy and the effect it had on him. I wish I had a man who felt that about me. I like these two as a couple and hope both of them have the maturity and and interest in making it work. Face it, there’s nothing actually interesting about Katy in a PR sense if she doesn’t make such ridiculous statements.

  6. orion70 says:

Well I would imagine Russel is already very exposed to plenty of drugs and alcohol within the industry he works, so I’m not sure his wife having a few would change it a whole lot. Maybe she only drinks while she’s out on her own or something.

I suppose it would depend on your degree of addiction (i.e. if smelling it on your partner’s breath or during a kiss would be enough to trigger cravings / make you fall off the wagon etc)

  7. lola says:

dudes. you cannot have a recovering alcy and a party drinker in the same marriage. Just like an athiest and a mormon don’t mix.

  8. Miffits says:

Didn’t they have an alcohol free wedding? I vaguely remember reading that shortly after their marriage, apparently the likes of Jonathan Ross and Noel Fielding were bored to death because of it.
Funny how now all of a sudden she doesn’t feel the need to pander to Russell’s sobriety. But then again that implies they’ve spent more than five minutes together in their entire marriage.

  9. Happy21 says:

My very first thought was, her hubby is an alcoholic, why would she say something like that?

My second thought is that maybe she has a glass of wine her or there, maybe she doesn’t get ‘wasted’.

I do think it was a pretty immature comment to make.

  10. Kim says:

The are both to immature and newly married to be having babies. They need to be together day & night for at least a year before thinking of bringing a baby into the marriage.

  11. Laughing Librarian says:

Katy’s immature all right-she is playing adolescent to the hilt, which can’t be helping Russell.
Please, oh please, no babies! Can you imagine how messed up a child of theirs would end up being?
Tell me again why they got married in the first place?

  12. Kimbob says:

Thanks Bedhead for this article and your opinion. I just think if she really said this, that it speaks VOLUMES of the state of their relationship…as in…they probably don’t have much of one at all.

Like @lola stated, it’s almost impossible to have two so very different views/lifestyles that work in the long run. I hear of “exceptions to the rule” everyday, but I think, in the long run, if this is how she feels (and drinks), and she continues w/such…this marriage is doomed.

My opinion is that it has to be over already…they just haven’t announced it. That being said, I’ve been wrong on many occasions though…more than I care to reflect on! LOL!

  13. Jover says:

I just can’t get past the blue wig pic. And this chick is what 27 – there isn’t anything cool, hip, edgy or anything about her – she just reeks of contrivance and lameness. RB needs to cut his losses with her soon.

  14. Camille says:

She is a female douchebag. There I said it. I feel so much better now.

    • NM9005 says:

Agreed, I saw a clip of her when she was a guest judge on American idol or something like that. Bitch (and not the good kind).

As for their union. As if a partygirl and a recovering alcoholic work. You need more than love to make a marriage succesful so please, the fluffy shit that they are exceptions is not true. That’s what you read in station novels =). And that’s probably what they were both thinking when the oxytocine was going rampant and they got hitched. Now it’s time to fix whatever is broken because the rush is gone and now they both have to be adults and really think in what direction they want to head. Together, not thousands of miles apart.

  15. Fatkid says:

“I like In-N-Out Burger and Taco Bell and if you want to make that pregnant that’s your problem,”

Love it! Wish more people were so frank.

I won’t wade into the drinking portion of her comment…

  16. JJ says:

    Female douchebag FTW!!!

I remember he made a joke once that she had gotten tired of constantly giving him head. I’d say that will be the final deal breaker. But then again, I also don’t think it’s only alcohol she enjoys.

Also, no one is picking up on her douchiness at getting credit for being all enlightened by watching a documentary on their anniversary about the meat industry and then promoting unethically produced fast food in that statement. She is a bimbo, but I have no sympathy for him. Instead, I feel sorry for all the little girls being brainwashed into idolizing this disgusting robot. Russell had lots of chances to find a woman that had at least a modicum of decency. And this is what he ends up with? He deserves exactly what comes to him.

  17. Kay says:

Katy Perry boasting about getting wasted? Wasted, waste of space, same difference, who cares. You all get that she gets that she is a talentless piece of trash who shouldn’t be earning more than minimum wage. Most of the things she says are to taunt all the losers that spend their time and money on her “music”. If she really likes alcohol that much she’ll go like Amy Winehouse did, even though it always seems like the talented die young. By that measure her and her “hubby” will live well into the next century. And Russell Brand’s whole sobriety routine? Oh, ok then.

  18. pearl says:

Katy’s comments in this article are so immature. It’s not necessarily as simplistic as “Russell is a recovering addict, so she shouldn’t drink or talk about drinking.” I know a lot of recovering alcoholics who don’t mind being around it and are secure in their sobriety … Russell has said he used to have alcohol in his house when he was single so that people who came over could enjoy themselves. He’s been sober almost 10 years, and while it’s always going to be “one day at a time,” I think he can handle it.

It’s just the whole tone of her comments that bothers me. She sounds trashy and ignorant, as usual. Talking about your love for fast food and booze might be honest, but she sounds so gleeful about it in a weird way. More to the point, though, she just sounds like she’s on a completely different wavelength than Russell. He’s been a vegetarian since he was a teenager and just recently became vegan, and even aside from that issue, he’s kind of obsessed with healthy eating in general (multiple comments on his old radio show are evidence of that). He’s all about his dedication to yoga, meditation, and living a clean life. It’s not that he can’t be around people who eat meat or drink alcohol, but why would he want to be married to someone who is (seemingly) the complete opposite of what he believes in?

I know a fair bit about Russell, and most of his friends in the UK are more intellectual types around his age, writers and comedians and indie musicians. Even in LA, he seems to mostly hang in the art circles with people like Shepard Fairey, or at smaller comedy clubs doing improv. He’s really not a “Hollywood” guy when it comes down to it. So when I see Katy, with all her Hollywood scenester friends and her ridiculous parties and ignorant attitudes, I just can’t help but wonder how they can stand each other. The way Katy acts, and the way she writes on Twitter, the stupid slang she uses, and her apparent level of mental development … she just comes across like a ditzy teenager.

Russell has his own flaws, for sure, but I think Katy Perry is utterly wrong for him.

  19. Sara says:

She’s pretty young, let her do what she wants. Isn’t Brand almost ten years older than her?

  20. Kay says:

That idea that Russell is ‘intellectual’ and doesn’t mesh with Katy’s disgusting sceanster friends is misguided. He is a shallow, vulgar famewhore who cares about nothing other than making money. Anything nice that people think about him, he’s altrustic, he has ethics, he likes animals and children, he blah blah blah–––all of that is all window dressing in service of his wanting to manipulate public opinion so that people go to his G rated movies. These fans that think they know him? You obviously haven’t read older interviews (back when he was ridiculously honest and transparent about his public image being in the crapper, around the time he was still going to do the Mystery film.) This man used to order hookers nightly, go to brothels, and text random women. His LA ‘intellectual’ friends only tolerate him because it’s free PR. Same with anyone of substance in the UK. Now that he’s not a presenter, do you think they even think about him? And for that matter, all his group are on his payroll. Does he have one friend that he doesn’t pay? No. Is he friends with anyone that he’s not using some how to advance his career somehow? No. He looks at people for what they can do for him. Face it he is the league of Jeremy Piven and Chris Angel, it’s just that he’s a better con artist. If he had any decency at all he wouldn’t be able to tolerate Katy or her group and parents for five minutes. He is just like her. They’re both like a virus.

  21. JaneWonderfalls says:

For some reason I just think their marriage will not last long, why bring children into something that will eventually be broken.

  22. m says:

This website is nasty. And the comments here are terrible. Like Kay. WTH? Big deal he sells tickets to comedy shows and he had a bit of fun when he was single. Yeah what a horrible monster. He seems like a nice man and anything I’ve ever heard about him is that he’s really polite and sweet to people. He’s always positive from what I can see. Have you seen his writing. He is an amazing writer. And the people that hate Katy? How can you possibly fault her. She just sings silly pop songs for fun. Sure she maybe says things she shouldn’t but don’t we all? People should let her enjoy her time off and it’s no one’s business to ask her personal questions. They seem like a cute couple and I don’t know why people want to think otherwise. It must just be jealousy just because they worked hard enough to pursue doing what they both love for a living. Their children will have blessed lives and all the advantages imaginable. If you want to go attack someone, why don’t you head down to the Wall Street protests if you hate the successful so much.
