I was mildly surprised when Snooki gave birth a few weeks ago and no one cared because there was a rather substantial uproar when she announced her pregnancy earlier this year. Oh well. Changing tides, and MTV has also recently announced that the upcoming 6th season of “Jersey Shore” (which starts on Oct. 6) would be its last because producers want to end the show “on a high note.” Supposedly, money wasn’t a factor in the decision because the show is still the top-viewed program for that particular MTV demo. But I imagine with certain cast members (arguably) maturing — like Snooki becoming a mom and the Situation getting clean — the show couldn’t continue to be the same trainwreck forever. So it makes sense.
Anyway, Snooki has managed to appear on People magazine’s cover in very short order after her baby’s birth. Little Lorenzo was only six days old when the photoshoot took place! And no, he’s not orange. While it still gives me the shivers to think of Snooki as anyone’s mother, I have to admit that she’s been handling herself (relatively) gracefully these days. She also didn’t gross us out with too much TMI (like Jessica Simpson did) while she was preggers, which is sort of amazing coming from a girl who waxed rhapsodic for several episodes of Shore’s Season 5 over her recurring urinary tract infection. Here’s some details from People:
Just six days after Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her fiancé Jionni LaValle welcomed their first child, Lorenzo Dominic, they opened their home to PEOPLE to help introduce him to the world.
“It’s a different kind of love that I never felt before,” says Polizzi, 24, who is currently filming the second season of her MTV spin-off Snooki & JWOWW.
It took more than 24 hours of labor, but the pint-sized reality star finally gave birth to her son on Aug. 26. Happily, she and LaValle say that choosing a moniker was much easier.
“We were going back and forth, and I just happened to think of Lorenzo,” says LaValle, 25, who adds that he was inspired by a child he knew from his hometown, where he and Polizzi now live with his parents. “She loved it.”
The baby’s middle name, Dominic, is in memory of Polizzi’s uncle, who died. “I did it for my dad,” she says.
Now, the happy couple are enjoying spending time with their family and of course, their “adorable” son.
“When I got pregnant, everything changed,” says Polizzi, who will also appear on the final season of MTV’s Jersey Shore, premiering Oct. 4. “The partying is long gone. I’m a new person.”

Snooki and Jionni must have decided on the name Lorenzo quite early in the pregnancy because in last week’s episode of “Snooki & J-Woww,” the two girls got fake babies (to test themselves, I guess), and Snooki named hers Lorenzo. I still can’t believe J-Woww tried to order “tan babies,” but there’s no accounting for taste where that cast is concerned. Since the birth, Snooki seems to have truly fallen in love with her baby and has even tweeted, “I love nursing my little man.” That’s sweet.

Confession time: I follow Snooks on Twitter (one of like 3 celebs I follow) and I LOVE her. *hangs head in shame*
She tweets CONSTANTLY. Pictures, stupid thoughts, whatever. And she really seems to enjoy being a mom. I think motherhood is probably the best thing that could have happened to her.
I just really hope Lorenzo never has to see Jersey Shore. Seems like they should probably just take the money from the mag spread and put it in Lorenzo’s “future therapy” fund for after he catches a few episodes for the first time.

I follow her too, and dare I say it, she seems like a really sweet girl and a very happy mom. She clearly enjoys everything about motherhood. She also seems a lot calmer.
But yeah, the little kid will need therapy after watching JS xD

The only thing I’d watch Snookie do is the Gangnam Style in her 5 inch heels. That would be worth the price of admission.

I’m psyched she’s breastfeeding. Like it or not, a ton of young girls look up to her and if they see that she’s doing it, maybe they’ll do it too! Educating the younger gals, good for her! I do think it’s funny that she’s on the cover of People when I can think of several (arguably) bigger celebs that People didn’t want to pay to put on the cover when they had their children.

Wow… I never expect to see Snooki on the cover of People.
I am beginning to wonder if she hired a really good manager and PR firm. And has turned into a serious cash maker. If so, good for her. Make that money while you can!
But I believe the change in her face is from the lack of alcohol. It does really make you puffy as hell. She dried out and her face now has a shape.
Just look at what has happen to Christina Aguilar. Puff face from extensive alcohol intake. If she stopped drinking… a month from now she would have her old face back too!

some of you complaining need to realize celebrities have been selling pics of their kids to magazines and the last time a major celebrities death made the cover story of People magazine was October 13th 2008 issue when it was Paul Newman and unfortunately MCD isn’t near as big a star as Newman was so he wasn’t gonna get the cover

I like Snooki. She actually learns from mistakes – one time in court was enough for her, she did everything right, just did what the judge told her to do with no fuss and no snarling and no attempt to make herself a victim or shift the blame. I imagine her dad read the riot act to her over that “public intoxication” episode, he seems down to earth but loves his little girl. He was quite clear-eyed in an interview about the fleetingness of her fame and so I figured he would be advising her to be frugal and save her cash. I think she slowed down a lot after that but definitely cut out alcohol as soon as she knew she was pregnant. She and the kid will do fine.

I’ve never seen Jersey Shore and don’t plan to watch the final season. Have never followed the cast closely and only know their names from celeb news sites such as this one, so I don’t know much about Snooki other than that a lot of people find her immature, classless, and annoying. However, I would imagine that a lot of her public persona is just a gimmick. She does it because she knows that acting a fool brings in more viewers for her show and more cash. Does that mean she will be a bad mother? Absolutely not. She might be a much smarter and mature person behind the facade who is ready to be a mom. Again, I don’t know her personality as well as most who watch the show. I just think that these people might not have a lot of shame, but they are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Their act is earning them millions of dollars. When the curtain finally comes down on Jersey Shore, it wouldn’t surprise me if she changes her public persona into a much more mature woman like Nicole Richie did.
