Kim Kardashian refused payment to the Irish castle where she honeymooned

wenn21409502

If you remember correctly, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding was a tacky, expensive, nouveau riche catastrophe that included headless statues, a groom sawing up the bar, a huge gold toilet tower and lots and lots of money. After the wedding, Kim and Kanye left North West with Kris Jenner or somebody (they don’t know who) and jetted off to Ireland where they had the most boring honeymoon in the world. Kanye later admitted that they spent the first four days of their honeymoon Photoshopping their wedding photos. So… yeah, that’s pretty boring as honeymoons go. And now here’s an added wrinkle: as it turns out, Kim refused to pay for the boring Irish honeymoon. Like, completely. She had her credit card refuse payment:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West splashed out on a golden toilet tower, headless nude statues, and more for their over-the-top Italian wedding in May. But RadarOnline.com has learned that they weren’t as flashy with their cash when the whole world wasn’t watching. According to an insider, they refused to pay a $20,000 bill for their Irish honeymoon stay!

Kardashian and West checked into the family-run Castle Oliver complex in Limerick, Ireland, after their Italian nuptials, but their wedded bliss at the property was short-lived. According to a source, they packed up after dinner complaining the castle was “too big” and that cellphone reception was dismal, checking in to the Ballyfin House in Co Laois instead.

But according to hotel insiders, the hotel had already ordered countless items to satisfy their over-the-top demands, and when Kimye reversed the deposit on their American Express card, the hotel staff were left on the hook for thousands!

“Everyone is shocked to say the least,” an insider said. “The castle is out a fortune on their honeymoon. It is absolutely awful. They made all these requests ahead of their visit, for certain foods, champagnes, thousands in flowers, candelabras everywhere. The hotel brought in everything they requested, and there were dozens of items. But then they took back all the money they had paid for them!”

The issue, the source said, is that black Amex owner Kardashian used a “high-level credit card” to pay for the venues and extras, and it “allows them to get it all refunded back at any time,” says the source.

Now, “everyone involved in making their honeymoon perfect at Castle Oliver has been completely burned,” said the source. “We’re not just talking about the hotel, but providers from all around the local area who gave their services and time in good faith that Kim and Kanye would pay them. But they won’t get their money back.”

Even worse the source claims, “A member of staff based in the United States was fired for booking them into the venue.”

“It’s insane!” the source continued. “We’re talking about one of the richest couples in the entertainment business refusing to pay the bill for their honeymoon. It would have been a dream honeymoon for anyone else in the world, and they should just have the decency to pay their bill.”

[From Radar]

Wow, that’s rough. And seriously… it’s just $20,000? I mean, I could easily live on $20,000 for about 10 months, so it’s good to put this all in perspective – but $20,000 is a very small drop in the bucket when compared to how much that gross wedding cost. I guess Kim paid for the honeymoon herself? And when it wasn’t up to her specifications, she refused payment? To play devil’s advocate, I’ve had those kinds of fights with service providers too, like being charged full price when I only received half-assed service. I dispute charges that I think are unfair or unwarranted as well. And if Kim and Kanye didn’t even stay at the castle for more than a night or two, why should they have to pay the full price? Still, that’s not what Kim has done here – she’s refused to pay ANYTHING and it seems like the castle’s staff went out of their way to met her demands.

PS… We’ll talk more about the Kanye West nonsense in London in a separate post. No threadjacking!

these two make me sick. Tacky, tasteless, trashy lot.

    • FLORC says:

You must be a glutton for punishment then to keep reading these threads.

To the article and not the couple… I wonder if lawyers already got involved over a bill dispute and that was their advice.

    • Rice says:

Poor North. Her expression reads, “Help me! I’ll give you my supply of mashed organic fruit if you rescue me! Please!”

      • Dinah says:

She really looks (in both photos) like she is about to reach out for her primary caregiver, who is probably standing ready to take her… like my daughter looked when someone would be insistent on holding her- babies go through a phase where they are wary of / distressed by being separated from their primary attachment. Sad.

      • epiphany says:

I’m telling you, that kid has no idea who those two are!

    • Decloo says:

If those shysters booked the hotel for however long they did, they need to pay IN FULL whether they stayed there just a day or not. All hotels have cancellation policies and a small, family-run castle surely could not re-book other guests after they blocked out the time for the shysters. If this is true then the hotel should make all of the KKK’s demands public and shame then into paying. What nerve.

      • Decloo says:

STOP THE PRESSES! The hotel proprietor says that they were paid in full and has no idea what anyone is talking about.

      • gefeylich says:

You mean that NOW they’ve been paid? That’s what is known as “damage control,” although everyone already knows West and Kartrashian for the low-life pikers they are.

    • Size Does Matter says:

Just when I think they couldn’t possibly disgust me any more.

  2. Audrey says:

They should have to pay for the items brought in and one night stay but not the full bill imo

    • Lindy79 says:

Actually most hotels have a clause in their cancellation policy that if you cancel within 24 hours of your arrival date you are liable for 100% of the total bill.
I hope the hotel has something in writing and takes these two scumbags to court.

      • Migdalia says:

Exactly. The staff not only prepped above and beyond for your arrival, but that room was blocked out for booking for other customers so that’s $$$ lost.

      • Shazz says:

I so hate it when rich people refuse to pay a valid bill they can well afford to pay. That is so self-involved and pointless.

      • Audrey says:

Pretty sure how it would go legally depends on whether the hotel misrepresented themselves and made false claims to get them to stay there.

I’ve had that happen before which is why I’m not so quick to condemn kk. Booked a hotel only to arrive and find out lots of amenities were no longer available, out of service or previously free but now you need to pay (they never updated their ad/website). On top of that, there was tons of construction going on at all hours and maids knocking to clean at 7 am. We paid for one night but moved to a new hotel and refused to pay for the rest. We were not paying $300+ per night for something so different from what they claimed we’d be receiving.

      • epiphany says:

Interesting that KIM footed the original bill.. not Yeezus. Maybe he’s in worse financial straits than they’re letting on?

      • lbeees says:

Not so, I worked for about 7 years in hospitality. The cancellation policy is typically: cancel more than 24 hours, no charge (unless you book on a pre-paid site like Expedia); within 24 hours of check in, one night charge.

    • Algernon says:

      @Audrey

I would understand if they were refusing to pay for, say, wifi in their room because they were told it would be free. But that’s not what the story says. What the story says is that they requested a lot of extra/special items, which the hotel accommodated, and then they refused to pay for those items. The problem appears not to be that they were in some way defrauded or misrepresented, but that they got to the hotel, decided they didn’t like it after all, and are now refusing to pay because they didn’t like it. In your case, I understand your reasoning, but in Kimye’s case, they should, at the very least, have to pay for any “extras” the hotel had to bring in on their request, plus full-price for however many nights they actually stayed.

    • ol cranky says:

the hotel had quite a few non-cancelable costs to meet the specific requirements of Kimye, they probably also had to limit how many additional guests were allowed on the premises to fulfill Kimye’s privacy demands and booking those now empty rooms on short notice would be difficult. It sounds like the hotel is only asking for them to pay for the noncancelable costs and room deposits so they can pay for the items they had to purchase, changes they had to make and staff that had to be scheduled to work per Kimye’s stipulations.

I don’t get the you can get a full refund for any purchase made with the black card at any time, so you can purchase an item and use it/destroy it and demand AMEX issue a refund on your statement? If AMEX is offering that service and are not requiring return of re-sellable merchandise, etc. (in a case in which it was a legitimate charge for a service provided or the item was as it was supposed to be), AMEX should be the company eating the cost not the store or service provider.

  3. Jules says:

    How klassy.

  4. Badirene says:

So just like Kim on a videotape the hotel got f-ed.

  5. marjalane says:

Could this woman be any more unlikeable? 20K for specified items for her stay isn’t ANYTHING to someone who spends money like she does. Yet, it’s quite a bit to the venue. This self absorbed creature is really so disgusting.

    • janie says:

I’ll answer your question, NO!! Disliked is being kind! It was toooo boring for Kim, so they should be honored these two pieces of trash even graced them with an appearance! It’s despicable, disgusting and vile, just like them!

  6. Abbott says:

Kanye is allegedly broke. Not that that excuses these two puss-filled boils on the US’s butt, but it may explain why Kim was in charge of paying.

    • Tipsy says:

How is he broke? I’ve never heard that – do tell!!!

      • Abbott says:

He spends way more than he makes, which isn’t surprising. I believe Kanye had to sell a lot his rights to his music to Jay Z in return for some $$$. There is also something up with the house they’ve been renovating; looks like they’re going to end up selling it. I’m not sure what the whole story is on that, but the whispers are getting louder that they cannot afford the home.

      • Snazzy says:

goodness … I am always shocked at these people who have obscene amounts of money and then can’t afford their lifestyle and go broke …

      • Ooooooh. This just got a lot more interesting. And I think it is very telling that this loved-up couple can’t even make it THREE NIGHTS in a luxury castle that is a bit more far-removed from the hustle and bustle. They couldn’t go THREE NIGHTS (most of which were spent Photoshopping!?) just being in each other’s company. They NEED to be out there at all times. Start your demise stopwatches now people, and enjoy the spoils.

      • Abbott says:

Also, he invested a lot of money into his clothing line, which went no where and he’s had to back his own tours because no one will really sponsor him, considering his ‘outbursts.’ Jay Z owns him right now.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Selling rights to your music is such a BAD idea! As a musician in his place at this point in time, it would have paid for his retirement (not for future generations of musicians, though) ! Kanye’s music will be around for a while, it will be in demand for licensing. If he did sell a bunch of his rights, that was such a stupid, stupid move.

    • Urban says:

Yes that has been the rumour round town that kanye is allegedly broke. If you visit the urban blogs you would know of it. There are also rumours he is heavily in debt to JayZ.
Pardon my english. Its not my first language 🙂

    • msmercury says:

I totally believe he is broke. I usually do not follow BI but there was one a few months ago (like Feb) saying that they would never finish their house and have to sell it because of money issues. It was revealed Kimye. Well just last week Kimye announced they were selling their house to live closer to her mom. And now this. lol

    • Beatrice says:

Interesting. I have wondered about his money situation since he seemed to be shelling out mega-bucks with Kim and the revenue from his work/business ventures didn’t appear to match his spending.

    • Mia V. says:

There’s a blind item somewhere saying Kanye got a huge loan from Jay-Z.

  7. ReturnoftheMac says:

I wish there was a word that combined crass and tacky. Tassy? Crtacky? SMH.

    • Lilacflowers says:

i believe the word you seek is “Kardashian.”

      • Redheadwriter says:

        You win the internets today!

      • ol cranky says:

@Lilac I was going to say “Kracky” but I agree with Redhead, you win the internets and I humbly bow to you for it

    • Gigi says:

Let’s just call them trash and let that be enough 🙂

On a side note, I just don’t see why everyone raves about that baby. Not to snark on a child, but people act like she’s the be-all, end-all of cuteness. Maybe it’s just because she doesn’t ever look happy when she’s with her disgusting, despicable parents, but I honestly wouldn’t look twice if this were a baby I just happened to pass by on the street.

      • Tracy says:

I feel for the kid. She certainly did not do well in the parent department.

      • jwoolman says:

Gigi- Nori does have an unusual look, although it doesn’t scream “stunner” to me either. She’s cute because babies are cute by default. She does look like Kim did as a baby with a lot of Kanye mixed in – and he was a very good looking child. I think she will be very interesting to look at when she’s older. Assuming she survives in the uncertain hands of Clueless One and Clueless Two. Anyway, I suspect people go overboard exclaiming on how gorgeous she is because 1) they expect her to be, 2) lord help her in the K Klan if she isn’t, they’ll put her under the knife before she’s five years old, 3) they can’t figure out why Kim and Kanye ignore her, and saying she’s super beautiful is kind of a reaction to that (how can they ignore such a beautiful baby etc). She’s just a normally cute little rug rat to me. But my suspicion is that Kim does not like the way Nori looks, in addition to the fact that as a living breathing baby she doesn’t cooperate in the random photo sessions and (oh the horror) is messy. She’s not the accessory baby Kim had assumed would spring forth from her loins…

    • theredone says:

      cracky

    • cjw says:

The word you’re looking for is Kardashian

  8. Dawn says:

Oh why anyone should be surprised by this tackiness? That is how this chica rolls, it is all smoke and mirrors and I hope the castle sues her for the money. What a cheap ass ho she is and KanYe West is a ridiculous little boy. How anyone can like a Kardashian is beyond me. And to fire whoever followed orders and booked them in that castle speaks to how delusional these two are. She is a mean awful person and I can’t wait for her to fall and fall and fall. What a cold hearted bitch. So I’mmmma gonna tell ya how are I really feel!

  9. Lindy79 says:

    Wow..pure class these two.
    Hope the hotel sues them.

    • kri says:

All I have for this is that I would love to go to Ireland, and I would treasure a visit to a hotal like that. Those two idiots should have gone to Reno-that’s about the right level of sophistication they could appreciate. And another thing…A. Giant.Gold.Toilet. Oh, my god.

  10. Ice Queen says:

  11. Snazzy says:

Just when I think they can’t get any worse …. they go ahead and prove me wrong 🙁

    • Nicolette says:

Oh I never underestimate how low these people will set the bar. Wouldn’t put anything past them either. As long as it brings them attention, good or bad, it’s all good to them. At this point Kim’s head would explode if she weren’t mentioned at all across the internet for just one day.

  12. Migdalia says:

Note: I love Kanye and I think I’m in the minority lol.

With that said why shouldn’t they have to pay full price if that is what is stipulated in their contracts? For example with comic con during a presale for hotels last winter to guarantee yourself a room you had to pay for your entire stay and it’s non refundable…sucks but that’s the risk you take. You can’t stay at the hotel for a non legit reason you’re assed out.

Sorry but I’m gonna yelp any honeymoon venue…the castle is too big and cell phone reception is not a legit reason. It’s a castle wouldn’t you expect such things lol.

  13. DanaG says:

All her demands should be paid and however long they stayed there. Most hotels have cancellation fees and to skip out and pay nothing is just classless but that is Kim and Kanye trashy and classless. How can Kanye have no money? He is supposed to be such a genius well according to him he should almost be a billionairre by now cause you know he is a genius. They should sue them no one else would get away with this why should they?

    • yuck says:

I have no idea if Kanye’s out of money, but I wouldn’t doubt that he married Kimmy with a side eye toward her bank account. Frankly, if he’s not careful, he’s going to drive away whatever fan base he has. No one wants to pay top dollar for a concert where the main attraction pontificates instead of performs.

  14. lisa2 says:

I agree that they should pay for the time they were there. But they did request a lot of things to be in place upon their arrival. So I think they should pay for that too. I don’t get that. How celebrities do that. Wanting all these things in a room then decide to leave.

  15. Lizzie K says:

The Kardashian family are nothing but grifters, and I don’t think they have the cash to pay for their over-the-top tackiness. I think most of the money they splash around is OPM (Other People’s Money). This surprises me about Kanye, though. I know he has issues, but I’ve never heard he was a deadbeat.

  16. Jayna says:

Doesn’t anybody find it funny that Kim was paying for the honeymoon? Kanye was probably maxed out from the wedding. That gaudy remodel they’ve done for a year and are now selling I’m sure has cost a fortune and not even close to done, so dumping it.

  17. greenmonster says:

Okay… Kim Kardashian in Limerick… For some reason the limerick Hugh Grant aka Daniel Cleaver recited in Bridget Jones comes to my mind: “The once was a young woman from Ealing, who had a particular feeling. She lowered her back and opened her…” I’m not going any further 🙂
Oh and she should pay her bill. If she (or her Team) ordered all that extra stuff, of course she has to pay for it.

  18. feebee says:

I re-read the line “She had her credit card refuse payment” hoping it said “She had her credit card refused for payment”.

Ah, Kimmy…. not content to be seen as a shallow, vapid, worthless (god, I’m so close to the c-word) piece of mostly human parts in the US and probably France by now, no she wants to spread the word further.

I hope the venue takes her on. Her excuses for non-payment don’t sound valid so far. She really is a piece of work. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

    • Jessiebes says:

      Ah thanks!

    • yolo112 says:

…I wonder when though… maybe she did have the payment refused and then when they said they would go public, she had a change of heart and paid the bill..?? just sayin.. all of that seems totally possible. OR (lol) all these “broke” stories…maybe it was kanye’s card that got declined and she had to pick up the tab.. hahahahaa

  19. Faye says:

Sometimes hotels can pull stunts – but anytime these two are involved, I’m automatically on the other side. #TeamCastle

I love the look on poor Nori’s face in the wedding picture – “Who are these nutbags, get me AWAY from them, Mommy” (Mommy being the Nanny).

  20. snowflake says:

they prob worked it out that kanye would pay for the wedding and she would pay for the honeymoon, and her being her narcassistic self, she prob thought she could get everything comped or deserved it being comped.

  21. Jacqueline says:

The issue is that, for these two, that’s such a paltry amount. They booked the hotel/castle and their requests were met at someone’s expense – someone with far less resources than they have. Haven’t they spent astronomically more than that on that ugly painted handbag she got for chiristmas (and carried once!) or those tacky walls of flowers that Ye loves? The castle was “too big?” Bigger than their garish Cali manse? Pay up and keep it moving, Kardashian.

  22. mkyarwood says:

I’m kind of surprised any hotel would forge ahead with what will certainly be a large account without a deposit?

    • Audrey says:

It sounds like she paid for it on her credit card but then told the credit card company to stop payment.

It also helps that you wouldn’t expect well off celebrities to screw over a bill.

Someone linked to an article where the hotel says they paid though so this is apparently fake (figures, it’s radar)

  23. minime says:

I think that in the next rant that Kanye decides to do during a concert he might talk about the effect that obnoxious, self-entitled multimillionaire costumers have on micro-economy when they decide to not pay for what they requested in forehand (what most simple person wouldn’t escape with, since most of the places have strict cancellation policy). I’m sure that in the end is the “small” worker that will have to pay (or not be paid) for this. These two have no class or respect for anyone and are not able to be thankful for what they have.

  24. Jayna says:

Darn, I usually never believe most of the stories from
“sources” from gossip rags or Radaronline, because the bulk of them are made up to fill the pages of weekly mag rags, but I fell for this one just because it was Kim’s card and she was unhappy in Ireland. I could believe anything of Kim and her grifter family after the wedding to Kris where they wheeled and dealed for everything free and/or paid very little and it was about the spectacle, never about love. Kris was just a warm body for Kim to have the TV wedding and be the center of attention. But this story turns out to be fake like the majority of them are.

  25. Bridget says:

When it comes to disputing charges with your credit card, the important thing to remember is the terms and conditions of the contract that you signed when you made the purchase. For example, if you signed up for a gym and cancelled your membership and they accidentally charged you again, you can dispute that. But if you tried to cancel and saw that there was a cancellation fee, you can’t dispute that even if you dont think it was fair. Hotels always have a cancellation policy, even for us plebs let alone for a honeymoon suite that requires thousands of extras to be brought in.

  26. Sam says:

I always love the pics of them with North – “Who ARE these people?”

  27. Ag says:

    TRASH.

  28. Tang says:

How dare them not pay. This is otherwise known as “theft”. They don’t belong in Ireland anyway. They are just a couple of very average people who have some money to throw around.

  29. The Original Mia says:

    Cheap, tacky, self-absorbed twits.

  30. EscapedConvent says:

That poor little baby. She looks confused, almost distressed. She might be wondering who that bride mannequin is.

  31. msw says:

What a pair of a-holes. These two make me sick. I hope this story isn’t true, but why wouldn’t we believe it…

  32. Lara K says:

Normally I’d question whether the hotel really delivered what they promised. Sometimes businesses do defraud their customers.

But knowing these two, I side 100% with the hotel, no questions asked!

  33. Mrs McCubbins says:

Celebrities are notoriously cheap! Not just these two.

  34. TheCountess says:

Presumably – hopefully – the Castle had a contract with them that stipulated cancellation policies and fees, right? Hopefully they can pursue payment in a civil venue, because this absolute horsecrap. Just because AMEX Black allows the cardholder to refuse payment doesn’t remove Kim’s obligation to pay the Castle’s bill.

  35. LaurieH says:

Here is the hypocritical irony to all of this: just last week, Kim “penned” *cough* a letter about celebrities should not be boycotting the Beverly Hills hotel because it serves only to hurt the regular people who work there and that the boycotting celebrities – while she agrees with their ideological disagreement with the Sultan of Brunei – were ultimately being selfish.

And yet here we have Kim, who ordered a village of locals to bend over backwards for them to come up with all sorts of luxuries that they themselves could not afford – and then Kim totally stiffs them on all the money and time they spent because the castle was “too big” (is anything too big for these egotists?) and because the cell service sucks. Uh..sorry toots…you’re in an Irish village, not Manhattan.

So on the one hand, Kim doesn’t want employees of the Beverly Hills hotel stiffed because celebrities are protesting the gratuitous arrest and murder of homosexuals, but on the other hand, she has no trouble stiffing an entire village because the cell phone service wasn’t up to snuff.

  36. Ruyana says:

The rumor rumble is growing louder that Kanye is running out of money. The lack of money is why they are selling their mega mansion even before it’s completed. Kim might resent the fact that she, not Kanye, paid for the honeymoon.

Look what Kanye did at the wedding. Sawing the bar in half. Shutting of most of the spotlights because he claimed people should only be looking at him anyway (not the bride?) He has a habit of making outrageous demands and then changing every single thing at the very last minute. Supposedly that’s a major reason fashion houses don’t want to work with him.

In the future every venue they call for any purpose would be wise to say “Sorry, we’re all booked up and have no openings for the foreseeable future.”

  37. Portlandjan says:

Move that turret, I’m Kim Kardashian!

  38. AnnieCL says:

Castle Oliver is not a hotel, it is private residence but you can book to stay there – have a look: http://www.castleoliver.ie/irish_castle

If the story is true I sincerely doubt that there was any service lacking on the owners side. And yes, if you make special requests you have to pay for them.

    • DailyNightly says:

I wonder if Kanye handled all the arrangements and ordering of the special amenities and the Kim didn’t want to pay when she saw the bill?

I think Kanye must have decided to have the honeymoon here. While the castle is beautiful, this whole locale does NOT scream “Kim Kardashian”. No paps, no crowds of fans(?), no other celebrities. I can’t imagine why she would want to come here.

  39. Lola says:

Let’s be blunt. Have no clue what happened here. Could be the Castle did not promise what was advertised, or that they did, but neither K no. 1 and K no. 2 didn’t have a clue on what to expect, and were bored with each other too quickly because they could not check twitter nor facebook.
To be honest, while reading this article the only thing that I could think of is, there are hard working people out there whose year salary is 20,000US$ …

  40. Montréalise says:

In every single photograph of baby North I’ve seen so far, she always looks bewildered, confused and overwhelmed – never happy or relaxed. I’m betting that she spends very little time with her parents, so when they do put her into one of their photo shoots, she’s thinking “Who ARE these people?!?”

  41. hmmm says:

    Cheap, entitled bast!rds.

  42. Hayley says:

All the money in the universe couldn’t buy these disgusting people any class. They will always only be trash, no matter how much money they have to throw around.

  43. aquarius64 says:

    Pay your bills you deadbeats.

  44. Breebree says:

I kind of really love that leather blazer.

  45. Snowpea says:

Kim’s life looks so empty…all that getting dressed up only to wander vacantly down the street to get papped. So pathetic. Do some charity work, woman. Spend time with your baby. Why does she not spend more time with her cute baby?

I just can’t get over these two! How can people be so entitled, classless, self absorbed and narcissistic? I would be mortified and horrified if I behaved like this! Plus, I will never ever believe that these two are in a genuine romantic relationship. They have no chemistry. What an empty, vacuous life they lead. Sad.

  46. Hot Farts says:

Why does igNorth always look like Fred Sanford?? Na na na na–na na na na na na na–Na na na na

  47. Tessa says:

    Hmm
Id love to spend a week in the middle of nowhere in bed with my DH . And we’ve been married for ever. Sounds a bit odd they couldn’t manage it on honeymoon.
I still say he is gay ( and bipolar) and its all an act because the rap scene is homophobic and she wanted a show baby.

  48. Tessa says:
