In the post about Ben Affleck’s “woe is me” podcast interview, jbyrdku commented that there was an item in the Instagram account Deuxmoi that Ben and Ana had split. They actually had the news ahead of US Magazine. Deuxmoi’s post said simply that Ana dumped Ben. That tracks, because Ben doesn’t break up with anyone he just ignores them or cheats on them until they do it. After the news was confirmed by the celebrity outlets new items were posted on Deuxmoi that they split almost a month ago, which explains Ana’s trip to Cuba over the holidays. (I know it was Christmas but it’s also a pandemic.) Plus she got a haircut!
We just heard, in early December, that Ana had put her house on the market and moved in with Ben too. I guess that didn’t work out that well because US Magazine and People have the news, with each saying that the two were in “different points in their lives.” Here are those stories:
“Ben is no longer dating Ana,” a source tells PEOPLE. “She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles.”
“This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable,” another source close to Affleck and de Armas adds. “They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there. Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives. – From People
“The breakup was amicable, [but] she was the one who called things off,” a source tells Us. “Ben and Ana were moving in different directions in their lives and stopped seeing eye to eye. The two couldn’t work through their differences and have decided to end their relationship.” – From US Magazine
So Ben did that THR podcast interview to make the press focus on his career and how badly he was treated by the tabloids post Bennifer, right? He knew that this news was about to break and was practically telling them to go easy on him with this split. He’s so aggrieved, you guys! Why can’t we just focus on his acting! He didn’t go for pap walks with Ana. Everyone puts a cardboard cutout of themselves on their boyfriend’s lawn. You know that things started going south with Ana when that Washington Post article about them came out. While Ana may be the one who officially broke up with Ben, he started checking out when he realized that he was in the same pattern with Ana and the tabloids that he was in with J.Lo. I bet he blames Ana for that, when he’s the one who is making the same moves in his life yet again.
I’ll miss Afflarmas. Their movie, Deep Water, is coming out in August. Do you think Ana will have another high profile boyfriend by then? I do. I think she’s going to rub it in Ben’s face and it will be glorious.
Remember when she bought him a motorcycle for his birthday and they rode it for the paps? Ooh now I’m also remembering that story that Ana “picks dumb and immature fights” with Ben.

Also this happened and it is real. It seems like a fitting end, although I wouldn’t put it past them to get back together once or twice. That’s Ben’s pattern too.

I don’t think it’s the PR people. You are only as good as your client because no matter how well thought out your moves if the people you work for don’t follow your directions, there’s not much you can do but quit. Some people listen and you see how much smoother things go for them, others ignore advise and you see where they land. Sometimes you can pinpoint the moment a celeb goes from not listening to listening. I’d say Ben is not listening again and if he continues to not listen it’s going to get really bad again for him.

I don’t think the THR interview had anything to do with this break up though, it’s a pretty common interview for people who are angling in an Oscar race. Ben clearly wants an acting Oscar.

That pic was alarming. But the one of him dropping his coffee and donuts was less than two weeks prior and he still looked healthy and “full” in his face and body. Maybe 12 days is enough look that strung out and thin, but the fact that it’s been scrubbed makes me question it.
I hate everything about them. I like supporting local cafes and franchises during this thing but I avoid single-use plastics ’cause I’ve seen what’s in our oceans and am aware recycling is not going to save the planet.
I think JMO that she wanted him to go to Cuba for Christmas. With his children being in LA, Ben wanted & it was probably his time to be with his children. If I am not mistaken, I think it was reported that Ben & Ana spent Thanksgiving weekend, not Thanksgiving Day with his children . I think Ana probably wanted Ben to put her before his children & he did not. She left & went to Cuba. I think I read that they broke up over the phone.
Ben could have been more discreet about disposing the cut- out of Ana. All he had to do was break it up inside his house & carry out the garbage bag to curb. He wanted the paps to see. Page Six had a report that they could still get back together…I seriously doubt it. Ben just put the final nail in that coffin.

Also, I am not seeing in any recap of the picture of Ana kissing Ben where he looked just entirely checked out–that was classic end-stage Ben. Remember–he was wearing a face mask the wrong way and they were in New Orleans I think for reshoots? It looked hella over then and there.

Yeah, I love Ben’s work and wish he would keep it in his pants for a while, stay sober, and just work. But this is likely the other side of his creativity and in his particular case, could be you can’t have one without the other.

I think the new hairdo is to distract from a recent “brow lift”. Ana looks totally different and it’s NOT the hair.
He’s the healthiest and happiest he’s been in a long time, with Ana, so I’m wondering how his sobriety plays out post Ana. So Page 6 says it was over him not wanting children. Ben is sober (for now), but I guarantee he is still fragile. He’s smart enough to not be entertaining creating another family now or in the next few years when his children need him, and he’s healthy enough to see that. His kids have had a very present father this past year, not the mess he had been. But that’s what you get when you fall in love with a man with three kids and both of you have careers. A big part of his time will go to his children.

The stories are a bit all over the place. One story says they split over kids, she wanted him to commit to having some with her, he wasn’t in to it (even though she has several projects lined up so I can’t imagine that’s a focus for her right this minute). And then there’s the “she didn’t want to live in LA” story…..even though she’s been living in LA for quite some time. Some stories she broke it off, some it was mutual. Not to mention the GLORIOUSLY petty appearance of tossing the cardboard cutouts!
Long story short? Promotion for their movie is likely to be HELLA awkward!
It’s complicated for a very good reason. He has three children he loves. With both Ben and Ana having careers that take them off on location (now that filming is going on again) and with Ben needing to spend time with his kids, Iimagine that she wasn’t getting enough time in her mind. It was easy when the filming community had shut down. They were in town all the time. Also, dating a man with three children is very tricky anyway. I dated a guy with just one kid, and I found it very complicated as he had half custody. The child was very standoffish to me for a pretty long time and clung to his daddy even more. And my friend dated a man with two tween/teens(one daughter – the teen), and the daughter was territorial over her father, and she felt she definitely took a backseat and the kids always came first because of his guilt over his divorce. They eventually broke up.
Ana couldn’t get the publicity and miles out of the pap walks during the pandemic so she ended things maybe a bit early, though we all knew this was coming. I hope she’s able to at least use it as a jump off for further projects.
I watched Jennifer Garner’s “pretend cooking show” the other day. While I’ve never been a Jennifer “stan” I found her really delightful and sweet and normal. I feel bad for Ben that his depression and alcoholism and general narcissism (none of these are related, just listing some of his most pronounced issues) kept him from truly appreciating how special the mother of his kids is. Of course, we don’t know the intricacies of any marriage, but he should have maybe tried harder to appreciate her as much as he appreciates himself 🤷♀️
Jennifer Garner really seems like one of the most normal Hollywood folks out there, IMO. Just kind and down-to-earth. I really like her.

This is petty but I am happy! I like her, though she is thirsty. I do not like Affleck, based on his history of using women to abuse (the makeup artist, that woman from one tree hill Hillary Burton), rescue him, distract, or otherwise up his ego. If I could see how hot/cold he runs in pictures, I can only imagine what that is like in person.

With Shookus he showed up at Nobu with a playboy bunny before even announcing they had split, with Jen he took their nanny on a plane to Vegas now this time he makes sure the paps capture Ana’s cutout being thrown out in the trash. I think Ben Affleck believes that he is a good man who makes impulsive decisions when he feels threatened–I don’t think he’s aware of his own emotional immaturity.

I think she dumped him when she realized dating him wasn’t having the effect on her PR she wanted. But Ben loves to date attention thirsty women and plays into it himself. I’ve been laughing all morning about the trash photo. It sends me every time I look at it. Just imagine having that much money and access and still being unable to escape being the naturally raging dumpster fire of humanity that is Ben Affleck. He just cannot help himself. There is always something in him willing to be dragged down into the mire.
And now we wait for the relapse that will be squarely placed on her shoulders, according to him. How ever will he stay sober without a woman who ‘is good for his sobriety.’? Blech.
Didn’t they both recognize that they are a different points in their lives? I barely know anything about either of them and even I know they’re not at similar points on their respective journeys.
I read somewhere else that the reason behind the split was “children related”.
Apparently she wants kids eventually and he doesn’t want any more than the children he has. He cannot commit to having any more children, while she wants to start a family.
Both sides are completely reasonable, however these are the things one think in advance when going into a relationship with such a age gap difference and being with a person who is in a different stage in life.
I read that, too. Then I read it was because she’s “young and adventurous” and when she’s not working she wants to travel, which seems contradictory to that version of why they split.
And you’d certainly discuss this with someone before moving in with them. So dumb.
They were a fun diversion with their pap strolls and thirst. I liked De Armas in Blade Runner 2 and Knives Out, so would like to see more of her work. She gives off this diva energy but I like it. Ben Affleck always gives off this vibe of just being ungrounded and discontent. He’s a super talented guy but his personal life and struggles is so visible and on display, makes him a bit of a mess, and undermines his talent.I feel like his work doesn’t get the respect it deserves because his issues with alcohol, the competing pap strolls with his ex wife, and his current girlfriends always distract. He’s messy. Anyway, good luck to them both. Hollywood is getting messy in the relationship department so lots of gossip for the mill.
I’m not entirely sure what she ended up getting out of this PR romance. She was booking things fine before him. Now she’ll be more known as Ben Affleck’s pandemic ex-girlfriend, especially with how performative they were throughout their time together. I used to like her but it really soured my opinion of her to the point I won’t be checking out any of her work in the future. Ben has always been a whiny, entitled hypocrite and all this proves he seems to be incapable of change.
Convenient timing to announce the break up (since they’ve allegedly been done for a month which I fully believe) since she’s about to start filming another movie with Chris Evans. I suspect we’ll be hearing about them soon.
It is interesting that they’ve been done for a month and the day after it’s announced he pulls that trash can stunt. You’re right.
People on the internet (women) always attack her as thirsty and the consensus was she made a play for Evans but he declined. Wouldn’t it be funny if they were actually dealing with each other on that set, had a falling out, but got back together? Total speculation. But things are never as they seem or as people surmise based on their own preconceived notions. I would laugh. Evans needs some drama he’s way too locked down. I’d be into the drama, I love some good old fashioned gossip scandals.
The trash can stunt was 100% planned. As was the timing of People exclusive drop (Monday morning of a holiday weekend, his/his team’s go to outlet). There was actually an In Touch article talking about how they were close to breaking up/broken up already and Ana had left LA for Cuba, and then subsequent Gossip Cop article “debunking” that story that mysteriously got taken down Sunday night. I’m assuming they got word that the People story was coming the next morning.
Totally! I think she’s very eager to have her name and photos in magazines and tends to pay special attention to her male co-stars (she herself said she falls in love with them while filming, eye roll), Evans was no different. But his fans act like he’s above playing the PR game when he’s done his share of it too, as recently as last summer with Lily James. I think they’d provide all kinds of entertaining gossip for us so I’m secretly crossing my fingers for something to happen between Ana and Evans.
She probably found someone younger and less needy. I never thought these two would make it once they were incessantly being photographed. Seemed so self-exploitative and narcissistic.
They both profited off each other with their thirsty photo ops. IBen even introduced her to his kids and used them for lap strolls too. Wonder how they feel about this

if she goes back to Batfleck after he did her like that, it means she has no self-respect. I dislike her, but I would expect her to have some pride in herself, at the very least. I am a very petty person and I avoid watching films with Ana de Armas because I have always, in my opinion, doubted the provenance of her “acting career”. The fact that many readers are saying/pretending that she is a serious actor is weird to me. She said, in an interview, that she barely understood English when she landed her first English-speaking film role. There were thousands of more talented and beautiful women professional actors vying for those roles. But she was handpicked from among them to star in two films with a handsome, rich, unmarried actor in his early fifties? I see. I have no issues with Ana being an opportunist. I applaud that. Collect those bags, gurr. It is the blatant storytelling that gets to me.

I have no idea if she’s “casting couch” – which I’m sure happens in HW – but I remember seeing her as the gf in War Dogs years and years back and thinking that is a very, very striking woman. (I am a straight woman if that’s relevant.) Never thought about it but always assumed she was cast for her looks, like in Blade Runner where she did gratuitous, IMO, nudity. She’s very emotive and I think she’s a decent actor. Marion Cotillard level? Doubt it. I’m sure casting couches have launched a lot of careers but casting directors also cast the “hot girls” in gf roles simply because they’re perceived as f*ckable and tick the focus-group-sheet box that rounds out the criteria for bankable movies. Maybe AdA was casting couch; maybe she wasn’t. I don’t think the gossip surrounding her was ever at Gretchen Mol (another poor lady who got those rumours x100) level.
Ana is HELLA thirsty. She wants to be super famous and that is what his podcast comments were about.
