Tiger Woods rumor: “shame reduction” sex rehab in Mississippi

2009 Australian Masters - Day 3

Did you hope that the Tiger Woods thing was over, or on some kind of hiatus? Too bad. Because there was some breaking Tiger drama the past few days. Basically, it’s looking more and more like those sex rehab stories are true, but last week’s gossip that Tiger was maybe staying in an Arizona sex rehab facility might be false. The latest rumor is that Tiger is in a Mississippi rehab, the Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg. And his rehab involves something called “shame reduction.” Um… that doesn’t sound like such a good idea, honestly. If Tiger was screwing all of these women when he was still feeling “shame” then what would he do if he had “shame reduction”?

Tiger Woods is getting treatment at a top sex addiction program in Hattiesburg, Miss., sources have told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

The troubled golf great checked into Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services, sources say.

The clinic, considered one of the top in the nation for sexual addiction, is directed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, who has pioneered treatment for sexually compulsive behavior.

According to the Web site for the facility, patients usually spend about six weeks in treatment. Sex addicts receive a variety of treatments, including group therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and something called “shame reduction.”

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Woods has not been seen publicly since his infamous car accident in the early morning hours after Thanksgiving after an alleged altercation with his wife Elin after she discovered he was having an affair.

Since the story first broke, Woods has been romantically linked to more than a dozen women.

[From Radar]

Radar went on to report that Tiger does not have a roommate while in the facility, which seems slightly obvious. I mean, if you’re addicted to sex, a roommate might be a bad idea, even if it’s another dude. Because we all know Tiger might roll like that! What else? Let’s see… Tiger might doing group therapy, which must be a little weird for the other people in his group, yes? I wonder if he’s signing autographs.

Shame reduction? Good grief, clearly the man has NO shame!
I don’t buy the sex addict excuse. I know it is a real thing, but in TW’s case, I think he’s just a guy who acted like a dog because he knew he could get away with it. Until he got caught, and now suddenly it’s an addiction. Please.

  2. Essie says:

I doubt he’s doing group therapy. I mean, that’s just asking for trouble with the other members of the group going straight to the ragmags as soon as they can.

I think Tiger might be getting sex addiction help but not in a facility. I think he’s getting one on one psychiatric help right now. I just can’t see him in a group setting.

  3. Linda says:

Piece of shit loser – now he’s trying to play the PR game to gain some sort of sympathy. He’s a piece of shit.

  4. Firestarter says:

What? Is something going on with Tiger Woods?

  5. vale says:

I agree lucy, not a sex addiction AT ALL. If he wasn’t married he’d just be a celebrated player, like Beatty Nicholson and every one of them. Because he’s married it’s being spun into ‘addiction’.

  6. oxa says:

There is no such thing as rehab or a cure for narcissism.

  7. Sumodo says:

It’s all for his image, folks, and the shame reduction is for him to be able to go back into public life and carry on despite the “shaming” that has ruined his reputation. Me, I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. Shame on you, Tiger.

  8. DoMaJoReMc says:

    Oh, Firestarter……Hahahahahahahahaha!

  9. Popcorny says:

I just *love* how the responsibility of willful bad behavior can now be classified as an “illness” (to further shed actual responsibility).
If the “rehab” falls anything short of that in A Clockwork Orange, then it’s just a PR ploy for the rich meant to deceive spouses and the public.

  10. Goddess711 says:

If he’s even there, he’s sneaking U Can Tell in through the window, that’s why he requested no roommate!

My theory is that this is a PR coverup/ Cleanup on aisle Tiger Woods. Tig’s shagging somewhore, somewhere. This is purely PR Atonement.

  11. Jill says:

What does ‘not been seen publicly’ mean? He hasn’t been seen privately either.

  12. buenavissta says:

    Firestarter! LMAO, thanks.

  13. ccoop says:

Shame reduction? How about shame RECOGNITION? Cuz obviously he wouldn’t recognize shame if it bit him on the ass.

  14. canadianchick says:

*putting crash helmet on in case someone here slaps me*. So IF he has a sex addiction part of rehab will be to make amends for what he has done to Elin, shame reduction is so that he feels enough shame to not repeat offend but not so much shame that he shifts to a new addiction and continues to hurt people around him. And if he is a sex addict Carnes is the best treatment around. Addicts in good rehab begin by taking responsibility not denying it-I hope he is there and Carnes is giving him a therapeutic smack in the head and guidance to help him start over.

  15. ogechi says:

Making effort is better than not trying. It goes a long way to show that he is human who can equally make mistakes. May God strengthen him throughout this period and beyond. .

  16. Sudini says:

@ Linda & Oxa – right on. NO sympathy for this idiot. This is a total PR move and just another manipulation on his part.

  17. Ally says:

CNN ran an old Larry King interview with Tiger Woods that was very funny. King asked him about some criticism he had received at the time, and Woods was all holier-than-thou and self-pitying, and said “People need to get to know the real me before they judge me.” Ha! Well now we have — you got your wish, golf buddy!

I daresay getting busted like this and losing all that money for his sponsors is the first taste of shame this entitled git has had in over ten years.

Sex rehab may also have been a condition of an even nominal reconciliation with his wife.
