These are photos of Mark Wahlberg on the LA set of The Fighter. You may remember hearing about this movie last year, around July and August, because photos of Christian Bale, looking very, very thin and drawn and crackhead-esque, were circulating widely. I think they’re doing some reshoots, maybe? Otherwise, this project has been filming for something like nine months. Anyway, we actually heard mostly about Bale and the physical transformation he was undergoing to play boxer-turned-trainer-turned-crackhead Dicky Eklund. But it looks like Mark Wahlberg, who is playing “Irish” Micky Ward, Eklund’s half-brother, also went through his own physical transformation. I call this transformation, “The Gerard Butler”. I actually got a little nauseous when the cameras caught the light glistening off Mark’s moobs.
Now, does Mark look terrible? No. It’s just that the formative image I have of him is the Calvin Klein stuff more than a decade ago, when his abs were his calling card. Critical acclaim, an Oscar nomination and four babies later, Mark has puffed out to the point where I did a double take when I came across these photos. But seriously, he doesn’t look terrible. Some people still like him. And hopefully he’ll get back into shape when the movie is over? Maybe?
He still has a cute butt, though.

I don’t believe Wahlberg is a player, and he seems like a real family man. That is an endearing quality in any guy. IMO

Well, he is getting close to 40, I think. It happens.
Though it still sucks for him to be scrutinized that way, it is a nice change from tabloids pointing at the slightest bit of tummy on an actress and screaming pregnancy.

That bag of Cheetos in his hand explains a lot. Ax Brit! She will tell ya bout dem Cheetos! It’s very hard to maintain that extremely lean look he had going on. Wife and kids probably eat up the time he had for crunches and nutrition. I like how he has matured (career wise). Never would have guessed it from his early years.

It’s totally fine with me. My husband of six years is still fit, but quite as cut as he once was. No big deal. I’d rather him play daddy to our two year old than spend the time he used to on his body. A great dad is sooo much hotter than a six pack. Go Mark!

Yes, let us not bash the Butler yet today…and as for Mark, I’d turn him every which way but loose! He’ll tone up again, and part of loving someone is understanding that they may not always look their best. He’s a good dad and I love that about him.

come on people, why do you care so much? plus, if you really just look into it, he HAD to pack on the extra weight to film the parts of the movie where his character takes a 3 yr hiatus from boxing. he’s simply adjusting his body to fit the scenario of the character. ugh.
