J.Lo sues her ex

Jennifer Lopez is suing her first ex husband, Ojani Noa, to stop him from coming out with a book about her. Noa signed a confidentiality agreement with Lopez five months ago that stated the he could not malign Lopez or reveal details of their past relationship. Lopez wants to enforce the confidentialy agreement and get a restraining order to block the book’s release.

Noa filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Lopez at the end of 2004, claiming he’d been fired unfairly from his manager position at her Pasadena restaurant, Madres. He dropped the suit last November, and must have signed the confidentiality agreement in return for a settlement.

Noa has also tried to blackmail Lopez over the book. He asked for $5 million in return for not releasing it.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of Lopez maintains that the New York Post ran an article describing Noa’s book three months ago. When Lopez’s attorneys reached out to Noa to inquire about the manuscript, he responded with a letter, saying that he’d continue to shop his book around. The filing also states that Noa later said that “he would not agree to refrain from marketing his book unless [Lopez] paid him the sum of $5 million.”

The NY Post claims that there are some juicy details in the novel, including the revelation that Lopez cheated on P. Diddy in 1999 wtih Marc Anthony.

Jessica Simpson forgets who pays her for what

Jessica Simpson is being sued by a clothing company for $100 million for breach of contract:

According to the complaint, filed in New York State Supreme Court by the Tarrant Apparel Group, Simpson inked a multimillion-dollar three-year licensing deal in December 2004 to launch a line of low-priced jeans and clothing.

Under the terms of the agreement, Simpson was supposed to be “actively involved” in promoting the garb, including wearing items from the line at “public events, shows and appearances” whenever “reasonably practicable…”

The company contends the Dukes of Hazzard star even refused to be photographed wearing items from the JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections, and that when asked by the press to name her favorite brand of jeans at an event last year, she replied “True Religion,” rather than “Princy.”

Now Mischa Barton realizes that she has to talk about Keds as part of her endorsement deal, but Jessica Simpson has a clothing line named after her and still can’t remember to plug it.

Simpson might just be fed up with endorsements. She sued an autoracing company two years ago for not paying her a mere $140,000 for wearing a T-Shirt with their logo on it in one of her videos.

Here she is in an older photo shoot for “Lovable Bras.” At least that’s a product she doesn’t have to worry about wearing out.

Jessica Alba forgives Playboy

Jessica Alba has forgiven Hugh Hefner for putting her on the cover of Playboy in a bikini without her permission. Alba was said to be embarassed by the issue, which seemed to suggest that she would be found naked inside. She threatened legal action and asked for the issue to be retracted, but a kind letter from Hefner convinced her to change her mind:

In his letter to Alba, Hefner apologized for “any distress unintentionally caused by the publication of your photo” on the March cover.

“What was intended as a tribute to your tremendous popularity has been misinterpreted by some as something else for which we are truly sorry since we are among your biggest fans,” Hefner said.

“In light of Mr. Hefner’s personal apology for Playboy’s unauthorized use of my photo on their cover, I have decided to discontinue my claims against them,” Alba, 24, said in a written statement.

“This was never about money, it was about setting the record straight about something that was done without my knowledge or consent,” she added.

Alba’s lawyers were said to be in talks with representatives from Playboy, but have ultimately decided to avoid costly and time consuming legal action. It seems like Alba just wanted to make a point, and it has been well taken.

Alba has a different beef with MTV, which staged a kiss with the hot actress with an aggressive chimpanzee for a clip that aired during the MTV Movie Awards. Alba says the chimp stuck its tongue in her mouth and bared its teeth at her:

She explained: “It was awful. All of a sudden there was a monkey in my arms and I had to do a clip for ‘most romantic moment’ award at the MTV movie awards. So the monkey’s in my arms and I’m supposed to give her a peck. She opened her mouth and her tongue is scraping against my teeth. Monkeys’ teeth are really long, kind of like a snake.

“Then I had to do it again and she grabbed both of my ears and screamed in my face and showed me all of her teeth. I thought she was going to bite my face off. I think monkeys should be left in trees.”

Surely any human would have been pleased to take over for the reluctant chimp.

Here is Alba with her boyfriend, Cash Warren, taking out the trash. Hollywood Tuna points out that she’s wearing a T-Shirt with his name on it, and that Cash is more than happy to let her do the heavy lifting.

Four more after the jump.

Bill Cosby goes after blogger for posting videos mocking him

Bill Cosby’s legal team has sent a cease and desist order to popular blogger Andy Baio of Waxy.org for posting the “House of Cosbys” video files. “House of Cosbys” is a cartoon that depicts multiple cloned Cosbys living in a house together, similar to the plot of the Micheal Keaton film, Mulitplicity. Baio is standing his ground, and says that “House of Cosbys” is a parody which falls under fair use guidelines. He points to many other parodies of Cosby, and says that he refuses to be legally bullied:

More than anything, this strikes me as a special kind of discrimination against amateur creators on the Internet. Mad Magazine, Saturday Night Live, South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and countless other mainstream media sources have parodied Bill Cosby over the years…

But because it takes so little effort to threaten a small web-based artist (or the blogger who hosts their work), the Net is constantly targeted regardless of just cause. Justin Roiland, creator of House of Cosbys, was forced to remove the videos because he couldn’t risk the possibility of an actual lawsuit. And when Channel 101 decided to take a stand, Cosby’s lawyers targeted their ISP instead, forcing the videos offline.

But I know my legal standing, and I’m not backing down unless ordered by the court. This is free speech and creative freedom, and even though it’s just one guy’s goofy labor of love, that’s worth fighting for, dammit.

Here’s House of Cosbys episode one:

Bill Cosby seems like even more of an asshole when you consider that he recently pointed out to Katrina victims that there were high crime rates in New Orleans before the natural disaster:

Humorist Bill Cosby lectured black residents of New Orleans over the weekend, saying their community was “wounded” by crime even before Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city and killed their neighbors.

“It’s painful, but we can’t cleanse ourselves unless we look at the wound,” Cosby told the rally of about 2,000 people at the city’s convention center, where thousands of Katrina evacuees had gathered seven months earlier.

Ladies and gentlemen, you had the highest murder rate, unto each other. You were dealing drugs to each other. You were impregnating our 13-, 12-, 11-year-old children,” he said, in quotes picked up by Reuters.

[via]

This is typical of Cosby, who has lashed out in the past at what he perceives as a violent black popular culture and an unwillingness to change. Cosby has seemed to blame the African American community for their plight and maintains a dismal perspective instead of looking at more broad sociocultural factors and seeing the positive aspects of black culture.

Kate Moss to write tell-all autobiography of her cocaine abuse

Virgin mogul Richard Branson has paid Kate Moss a £1million advance to write an autobiography about her ordeal with cocaine abuse. Moss is said to have confided in Branson during her struggle to get off drugs last year:

The supermodel sought sanctuary on the Virgin tycoon’s Caribbean isle. Necker, after her spell in rehab.

She had long chats with Branson, who has known Kate since she was 15 and signed to his Storm agency.

Kate was dropped by a host of labels following damning footage of her cocaine abuse last September. She spent a month in rehab in Arizona.

Branson said: “The story coming out could have saved her from a far worse situation”…

Branson has persuaded her to sign a £1million autobiography contract to confess all about her cocaine abuse
– published by Virgin Books.

Kate’s career had some setbacks, but quickly recovered after the video of her doing cocaine came out last year. Now she’s set to cash in big time with a revealing autobiography.

Kate Moss has also forfeited a lawsuit against Britian’s Channel Five for a 2004 documentary, “The Truth about Kate Moss,” that claimed that she did cocaine. In order to proceed with the lawsuit, Kate would have had to sign a statement that she didn’t do cocaine. Instead of signing the statement, for which there is plenty of proof otherwise, she gave up persuing the lawsuit.

Here is Kate out with a male friend in London on Thursday. We also have pictures of her April appearance in Harper’s Bazaar.

Britney is an evil boss

Britney is getting sued by some of her former bodyguards for not paying overtime for the 24-7 coverage she demands:

Plump ex-pop tart Britney Spears is being burned by three former bodyguards, who yesterday filed suit against her for allegedly stiffing them on overtime pay. The beefy ex-henchman claim they were on call to the skinflint superstar 24 hours day, yet received nothing above their straight salaries, which ran between $2,400 and $3,350 a week.

I don’t know, I mean I usually side with the labor but 2k a week doesn’t sound bad. They probably just couldn’t stand being around her all day.

Britney Spears’ Sex Tape case still in court

Before you get excited thinking this thing is actually going to come out, remember how unwatchable Chaotic was. Britney Spears has an ongoing lawsuit against US Weekly for a 2005 October article that claimed that Britney and Kevin made a sex tape which they inexplicably showed to their estate lawyers:

Spears, 24, sued the magazine in December over an Oct. 17 “Hot Stuff” column that mentioned a sex tape featuring her and husband Kevin Federline. The article said that the couple acted goofy while screening it for their estate-planning lawyers, all of whom “either laughed or [were] disgusted by it.” The Chaotic couple showed it to their reps because they had been afraid that the “raunchy footage”–a duplicate from Spears’ and K-Fed’s private collection–would go public, the column read.

US Weekly wanted the lawsuit dismissed, but the judge just ruled that the suit could proceed and that Spears’ lawyer has until April 6 to get more witnesses. The author of the article in question says that his source was solid, and Spears’ lawyer is not calling him as a witness.US Weekly has refused to print a retraction.

Spears denies the tape even exists and is seeking $20 million in damages. US Weekly says Spears might be able prove the article was false, but can’t show that they had malicious intent in printing it.

You know that this thing probably exists. These are the attention whores who bragged about their sex life in that piece of shit Chaotic. Let’s hope for Britney’s sake this whole thing just blows over, and if there is a tape it’s been destroyed.

Britney was back in LA yesterday at a recording studio. While her friend has a muffin-top, Britney might actually be pregnant since her belly button is protruding so much. We don’t know. US Weekly just reported that she wasn’t pregnant, and has a C-section scar infection. (Thanks Perez!) It sounds like they’re just hedging their bets.

Thanks to Marie at the JJB board for these pictures.

Two more after the jump.

Bruce Willis is already taking Petra Nemcova for granted

Bruce Willis may have stood up Petra Nemcova at the premiere of V for Vendetta. Nemcova said her “friend” was supposed to attend the premiere but was dissapointed that he did not come. Nemcova and Wilils are said to have spent last weekend together in Atlantic City.

Meanwhile Willis is suing Page Six for reporting that he pestered Nemcova and made a sizeable donation to her tsunami charity in order to get a first date. Maybe he didn’t show up at the premiere for fear of jeaopardizing his lawsuit.

Scary codger sues “Da Vinci Code” author

Davinci code author Dan Brown side by side with a picture of a grizzly-looking Richard Leigh with the caption: Author gets by on looks and stolen ideas
“The Da Vinci Code” was interesting and all, but we thought the writing was piss poor. That’s why it’s not surprising that Dan Brown is not only a lousy writer, he’s also incapable of coming up with his own ideas. At least that’s what co-authors of the 1982 book “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail” are claiming.

For his part, Brown admitted today to reading the book as part of the research for the “Da Vinci Code,” but called the plaguarism charge “completely fanciful.”:

But he said “The Holy Blood And The Holy Grail” was just one of many he had studied and from where he took the idea that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, had children who survived and married into a line of French kings and that the bloodline survives until the present day.

That idea is part of the central theme of the earlier book, whose co-authors Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh are suing Random House, the publisher of both books.

Admitting to reading the book but saying you didn’t copy it is a weak argument. Brown might have changed enough to make it seem like he had some original ideas, but he still cheated.

Unfortunately Brown may win the case on sheer looks alone. “The Holy Blood And The Holy Grail” co-author Richard Leigh is pictured above. [via]

The co-authors of “The Holy Blood” are seeking an injuction to insure that their material is no longer used. If the case is sucessful, the scheduled May 19th of “DaVinci Code” film starring Tom Hanks and Ian McKellen could be delayed.

Paris dines with the enemy

Paris, Graff and an unknown man in a car with the caption who paid the bill?
TMZ is reporting that Paris Hilton had dinner last night at Mr. Chows in Beverly Hills with the woman who is suing her for defamation for $10 million, Zeta Graff. The two were later seen entering The Roosevelt Hotel, and TMZ has the video.

Paris fabricated a story that Graff attacked her in July, 2005 in a London night club. She then arranged to have the story leaked to The Post. In a deposition in November for the case, Paris tried to dismiss an e-mail to her publicist in which she called the Post article about the fake incident “genius” by saying, “whatever I write in email, it doesn’t mean anything. It is just words I write.” She also didn’t recognize that London was in the U.K., and admitted that she was scared of voodoo.

It does not seem like a friendly dinner will patch things up between the two, as TMZ found that “the lawsuit is [still] 100% active.”

Here are pictures of Hilton and Graff on the night in question.
