  1. The Catholic movie reviews are always pretty funny. I always love to see which new movies are “morally offensive”. And I’m not really surprised that this is a steaming pile of dog shit

  2. I only wish Ben Kingsley wasn’t in it.

  3. I thought it came in fourth, not fifth?

  4. Well the Catholic bishops not liking it and finding it offensive suggests that it might actually be funny and/or good. But The Love Guru has been panned all over the place so it’s plainly no ‘Life of Brian’ which the Catholic Church weren’t too keen on either at the time but which turned out to be a work of genius. One thing the Catholic Church are great at doing is inadvertantly pointing you in the direction of the good stuff.

  5. Or The last Temptation of Christ, for that matter…

  6. Sorry, but I kinda liked it. It may have helped that after reading the reviews, I had NO expectations.

I know Mike Myers is a douche, but I like his silly movies. Can’t help it.

Zohan was - BY FAR - the worst movie I’ve seen in many years. And, dare I say it, I liked Love Guru more than Get Smart. Man, that movie was b-o-r-i-n-g.

Love Guru was not boring. Also, as I’ve offended many catholics over my years in catholic schools, I have no problem with that either!

  7. Damn, I was really hoping Zohan & Get Smart would be worth the money. I loved watching Get Smart on Nick at Nite

  8. Bodhi… I’ve heard that Get Smart is really good if you’re not expecting the TV show. I’ve heard it’s just ok if you are.

I also hear the Israelies (sp?) loooove Zohan, lol, so, you know, take that as you might, lol.

I would go out on a limb and say Elle is definitely in the minority at least Guru and Get Smart… probably about even keeled with Zohan.

  9. Right on, I’ll prolly end up seeing both of them at some point. We haven’t even seen Indy yet!

  11. didn’t austin powers wallow in penis jokes and wasn’t it generally yucky? i didn’t like that movie - but the catholics didn’t care then. is it because he dresses the way he does in the movie? whatever, i don’t think that anyone or thing should attack a race, religion or sexuality. i mean, there is free speach and then there is just sad, offensive stupidy. i’ll boycott him with you jaybird - it will be our own little stand against his over the top ridiculousness.

  12. RhymesWithSilver:

I really want to start an ‘Oscar Repo’ service. Ben Kingsley was in that crapfest about vampires (”Underworld”? I can’t even remember, it was so craptastic.) Hand it over! Also, F. Murray Abraham gets his “Amadeus” Oscar revoked for “13 Ghosts”. And Cuba Gooding Jr. “Sorry- there’s been a mistake. This was never really yours.”

  13. “Get Smart” is the hardest I’ve laughed in a movie theatre in a long time. If “boring” means “chuckle-inducing”, then “Get Smart” is dull as dishwater.

  14. Ling: Wow, maybe I just didn’t get it. I thought the Get Smart laughs were so strained and by the end I just didn’t care any more…and I haven’t seen the show in YEARS.

I said I kinda liked Guru. But, yes, it’s bad. But, that said, if you like Mike Myer’s humor, I don’t think it’s as bad as they are saying…I also think it would have been funnier with a drink or three. Actually maybe that’s where I went wrong w/Get Smart.

I also thought JT was funny in Guru, so that says everything about my taste level - meaning, it’s really bad!

  15. Haven’t seen it but couldn’t resist reading the reactions. I am stunned, because Mike seems to hit the mark more often than he misses. Oh well. I am a bit concerned for J Alba…she doesn’t seem to make good choices in her roles, thus far. Girl has to do something, looks are great but talent is going to have step up, and that will take a really good role. By the way, no reaction to her part in this “awful” movie?

  16. You know how comedies usually blow their funniest moments on the trailer? Well, this trailer sucked and actually made me embarrassed for Myers, so I’m not surprised the movie is awful.

It’s a bummer all this crap is coming out about him, though. I mean, I thought he a was a funny, down-to-Earth guy. Guess not. :(

  17. It’s not because Mike Myers is uggly that he is allowed to do anything and that he has a license to be ridiculous ans offensive
