Last week, the horrible news broke that Lindsay Lohan is in ongoing talks to play the iconic Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie. Indeed, it’s a dreadful proposition to think that a (relatively, in Hollywood terms) classy woman like Liz could possibly be portrayed by a desperate ex-actress who still crashes Globe parties like a crackhead loser. Well, the casting equation has become even further muddled, for now it seems that Lohan has some interesting new competition in the form of Megan Fox. Yes, you read that correctly:
It appears Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only starlet in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor.
Although the Mean Girls star confirmed she is still up for the role in the buzz-worthy biopic to E! News Sunday night at the Weinstein Company Golden Globes after party, we’ve learned Lohan has some competition by way of Megan Fox.
“I’ve been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox,” Larry Thompson, the executive producer of Lifetime’s Liz and Dick, told E! News exclusively.
Thompson declined to elaborate further on specifics of the negotiations, but added that being in talks with more than one actress is not meant as an affront to the talent involved, but rather is simply de rigueur for projects of this nature.
“It’s a very serious selection,” Thompson continued. “It’s like casting for Hollywood royalty.”
And speaking of serious, a source tells E! News that while Lohan is still one of the frontrunners for the role, her probation status is “a complication.”
Lohan, who is on probation until the end of March, is due back in court Tuesday morning to face the judge in a probation status update hearing.
So, when will we know which star nabbed the role?
Rather soon, since the filmmaker plans to start shooting the movie in Canada as soon as this spring.

Say what you want about Megan Fox. Although I’ve grown to like her as a person, it’s rather obvious that, as a leading lady, she’s an exquisitely beautiful yet extremely unaware actress. If you think I’m being too hard on her, well, then you must not have seen Passion Play (which by the way, is available on Netflix Instant Watch if you’re curious). Still, Megan is working hard to get back into Hollywood’s good graces with a turn on Broadway plus supporting roles in both The Dictator and Friends With Kids. At least we know that Megan would show up on set every day and show some semblance of professionalism. She lives a quiet domestic life with her husband and therefore wouldn’t be clubbing until 3am like someone else. Also unlike Lindsay, Megan’s completely over the Marilyn Monroe obsession. That’s gotta count for something, right?
And at least Megan looks the part in a more physical sense.
Whereas Lindsay just looks like a crackhead wearing a Liz Taylor wig.

Meagan has a passing resemblance to Liz and is very pretty. Sh has the acting talent of a slug hibernating in the winter garden but oh well. Lindsay looks a mess. What could be done to make her even passable, let alone beautiful? Plus once she’s got the role you know she’ll stop showing up and put partying first. Heaven help me, I don’t know why anyone would even consider her, given her partying. But if she gets the role, I hope she doesn’t muck it up and sticks to the filming schedule.

Megan would make a beautiful Liz Taylor. Maybe her acting isn’t up to much yet but I think she’s making a really concerted effort to grow up and get better work. Maybe a film like this could really improve her career. And let’s be honest, Megan deserves this more than LL. At least she’s *trying* to clean up her act. she is not as bad as a lot of other starlets, but lainey says she’s does not live a quiet domestic life. She’s said numerous times that the neighbors call the police on them regularly for horrible domestic fights, and that both her and her hubby are tweakers. Yikes. It would explain her messing with her face so much too early in the game.

Yes, but having dark hair and blue eyes is not good enough. Megan would have to prove she can play the role. If she can’t capture Liz Taylor’s personality and mannerisms this role is not for her. Unless she proves me wrong I don’t think she can pull it off given her limited acting range and talent. I have seen other young actresses act way better than her. It is hard to believe she and Lindsay are the only actresses they could find for the role. As some posters said, there are real talented actresses out there. They could find the right one. Honestly these two so called actresses are the last women I would consider for the role. Liz Taylor wouldn’t approve of these casting choices. Neither has her class or grace or talent. They can find a real actress who could do her justice. She deserves better.

I can’t get by both of their tweaked faces. Liz did not ever have the tweaked plastic face. It is ridiculous to me that these young people have already gone down the plastic surgery road. What are they going to look like at 40? Hollywood today is nothing like the old Hollywood, so who really can play the part? How many times do we have to hear that Lindsay is up for a certain role? This, like the Gotti movie, the Lovelace role, ETC. is FAKE & used either: 1) for Lindsay to keep up the attention whoring, or 2) for the studio, to bring attention to the upcoming production, or 3) both.
Lindsay can’t get insurance to be on a movie set. It can’t and won’t happen anytime soon, if ever. She will never get that role, and everyone involved is aware of this, but hey it garners “free” publicity for all parties, so they’ll keep it out there until they actually start production.

I’ve grown to like Megan, too. Once upon a time, Lindsay was the better actress, but who even knows if that’s the case anymore since she hasn’t acted much in years. At least Megan is still an actress, does not come with any crack drama, and resembles Liz in a way. Although, I’m not sure about Megan taking a Lifetime movie role. Sure, she’s no great thespian, but surely that would be a step down for her? I mean, she is still in actual MOVIES, unlike, ahem, LiLo.

At least Megan could look the part (if she put on a bit of healthy weight…). It seems Lindsay is past the point of no return with all the plastic surgery, skin damage, and the many problems drugs have caused on her body.
She’d act better, sure, but she passed up the chance to be a star when she decided to be a crackhead instead.
Plus, although Megan has never been the best of an actress, she is- as far as I know -not a crackhead and dedicated to doing well at her job. Wasn’t she taking acting classes? Kudos to her- she has the confidence to take help. She seems to have a MUCH better head on her shoulders than Lindsay. I’d love for her to prove us wrong and be a great actress. Plus, she’s really candid and ballsy like Liz (and a stunner of course!).

Lindsay’s personal problems are not an issue. I am not judging her for that. Her acting may not be impressive but i think she has more emotional range than Megan ‘wooden’ Fox. That doesn’t make her suitable for the role. Personally I can’t see her playing Liz Taylor. She looks nothing like her. Megan is wiser than Lindsay but that doesn’t make her a great actress. I agree she has more resemblance to Liz Taylor, but I have doubts about her ability to give an accurate portrayal of Liz Taylor. She is no Meryl Streep. I hope she will prove me wrong for the sake of the people who cast her. If she doesn’t get it right she will be hammered by critics and the casting people will regret their decision. They can cast her if they think she is the better choice for the role. It will be their decision. Frankly they should try to find somebody much better than these two. Megan and Lindsay can’t be their only options.
