Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughters blame Ashton for her breakdown

Demi Moore is currently at an unnknown rehab receiving treatment for substance abuse issues and anorexia. Reports had her at the exclusive Cirque Lodge in Utah, but TMZ claims those stories are false and that no one knows exactly where Demi is. (She could be at Cirque and denying it in an attempt to preserve her privacy and keep the paparazzi away. I can’t blame her for that.) Radar reports that patients receiving treatment at Cirque aren’t allowed to weigh themselves or to know their current weight during weigh-ins with a doctor. Wherever Demi is, she’s hopefully detoxing and getting healthy.

The latest issue of US has an article that suggests to me that Demi is not taking responsibility for her addictions, or at least that her family is still in denial about it. It squarely places blame on her ex Ashton Kutcher as somehow triggering Demi’s latest problems. Here’s part of US’ report:

Just one week [prior to Tallulah's 18th birthday party on February 3], [Demi], 49, checked into rehab, a source confirms to Us, to seek treatment for substance abuse and an eating disorder. “Her friends and family wanted her to get help,” says a Moore source. Now Bruce, 56, and Moore’s daughters, Tallulah, Scout, 20, and Rumer, 23, are holding accountable the one person they consider responsible for her troubles – her estranged husband, Ashton Kutcher. “Bruce and the girls hate Ashton,” says another insider close to the actress…

“Her family and friends are happy Ashton is out of her life…

“This think Demi’s breakdown is his fault.” (Another source counters that Rumer, who has visited Kutcher on the Two and a Half Men set postsplit, is still close to the actor.)…

[The friendship between Bruce and Ashton] “was all a show,” the source asserts of the Die Hard actor’s friendliness. “The hatred is long-standing.”

Still, Kutcher, 34, may have made himself too scarce in recent weeks. “Ashton hasn’t been there for her,” says another insider. The one time he went to her house after her hospitalization, she wasn’t even there. But another pal defends Kutcher: “He hasn’t seen her because he doesn’t want to give her the idea that he wants to get back together…”

“Bruce is concerned about Demi,” says a Willis soure. But even he is limited. His wife, Emma Heming-Willis, 33, who is pregnant with their first child, “doesn’t want to expose their baby to any of that drama,” says the source.

[From US Weekly, print edition, February 20, 2012]

I buy that Ashton was an ass to Demi and that he cheated on, lied to and left her. We have no idea what went on in that relationship behind closed doors, or how bad it was. It’s understandable that Demi’s family hates Ashton now. Ultimately Demi is responsible for herself, though. Plenty of women go through infidelity and public humiliation and deal with it in much healthier, constructive ways. Most of those women don’t have a fraction of Demi’s means or opportunities. This is a cop out by Demi’s people. She needs to get more distance from this before putting out the next planted story.

Demi Moore’s two youngest daughters “want nothing to do with her”

This week’s In Touch cover story is all about Demi Moore’s OD and downfall, with details we’ve heard before. They do add the claim that Demi has been doing cocaine, which I sort-of buy but I also think it’s possible that she’s only hyped up on “legal” drugs like Adderall, Red Bull, “K2 Spice,” and whip-its. The thing that struck me about this story was the fact that they focus on Demi’s relationship with her two younger daughters, Tallulah, 18, and Scout, 20. Demi seems to have a friendly relationship with her oldest daughter Rumer, 23, as she was partying with Rumer in the days leading up to her hospitalization. Tallulah has been living with her dad, Bruce Willis, for some time, and Scout is off at college. According to In Touch neither daughter has wanted anything to do with their super-embarrassing mom for some time prior to her breakdown. They’re probably worried that she’s going to hit on their male friends, and for good reason. Here’s part of In Touch’s report:

Rumer may be close to her mom, but Demi’s two younger children want nothing to do with her. In fact, a friend says, youngest daughter Tallulah feels much closer to her dad, Bruce Willis – with whom she lives. “She has often requested that Demi not attend public functions with her because she’s afraid of her getting drunk, desperate and flirty,” the friend confides, adding that Tallulah, 18, has been “mortified” by Demi’s wild partying in recent weeks. “She loves her mother, but she wants her to get help,” says the friend, adding that Scout, 20, feels the same. “She’s humiliated by the way Demi’s been acting – and she’s also furious at Rumer, who she feels has been enabling her.” According to the friend, neither Scout nor Tallulah wants anything to do with Demi until she goes through rehab and gets the help she needs.

[From In Touch, print edition, February 13, 2012]

Fat chance that Demi goes to rehab. She’s turning to Kabbalah as usual to help justify her behavior. I doubt it will help her but I hope I’m wrong.

Can you imagine if your mom was partying with your sister and grinding all over guys your age? You would totally try to avoid her. But if she went through a crisis like this, I like to think I’d be there for my mom and I hope that Scout and Tallulah have stepped up.

There are plenty of other recent stories about Demi. People is reporting that Demi’s ex, Bruce Willis, wanted her to get help prior to her OD. They report that Brucewas worried about her and wanted her to get better. Many of her friends did the same thing, but she just wouldn’t listen.” Paparazzi agency X17 reports that both Bruce and Demi’s more recent ex, Ashton Kutcher, visited her separately on Wednesday. Radar has a story straight from Ashton’s camp about how much he cares for Demi and how he’s been praying for her. I know this is spin, but I want to believe this. Here’s Radar’s report:

Demi Moore’s estranged husband Ashton Kutcher was photographed going to her Benedict Canyon estate on Wednesday, but that wasn’t his first visit to her since her hospitalization, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the Two and a Half Men star has been praying with Demi, and offering support during this tumultuous time in her life.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 49-year-old actress has been struggling with anorexia and had been taking the prescription drug Adderall leading up to her seizure on January 23.

Kutcher was in Brazil during Moore’s meltdown, and was criticized for partying and being seen at a concert with another woman during Demi’s time of need. However, as soon the Punk’d star returned to LA, he sought counsel and guidance from spiritual advisers at the Kabbalah Center in Beverly Hills on how he could best help Demi.

“This has been a very hard time for Ashton. He loves Demi very much, and he feels absolutely helpless right now,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com. “Ashton and Demi have been praying together at her house, and he mainly just wants to provide comfort to her right now.

“This absolutely isn’t a reconciliation, but there is still a lot of love there and he would never turn his back on her — it’s just not who Ashton is.”

And, while many people in Demi’s inner circle are pushing her to go to rehab, Ashton isn’t pressuring her at all to do anything she isn’t ready for.

“Ashton has had loved ones in his life that have dealt with addiction issues, and he realizes that it’s counter-productive for someone to be forced to go to rehab,” the insider says. “Ashton knows the addict has to want to get help for themselves. There is a lot of noise around Demi right now, and Ashton wants her to know he is there for her and supports her no matter what.

“Ashton absolutely wants her to get help for what he thinks is the biggest threat to her health, anorexia, but Demi just isn’t ready to take that next step yet.”

[From Radar Online]

The article goes on to claim that Ashton has been “reclusive and very somber” on the set of “Two and a Half Men.” Ashton has been partying his ass off in Brazil, he’s not all down in the dumps over Demi. It took him a while to get back to the US after her health crisis too. I believe he cares about her and is trying to help, but this portrait of him as “reclusive” and “somber” doesn’t ring true with the photos and tweets we’ve seen from him.

I hope that Demi gets sober and well, and that she’s able to retain some sort of career or life’s purpose. She’s supposedly “despondent” that she’s not getting movie roles anymore. Someone moved her cheese and she’s been making herself sick looking for it in the same place over and over again.

Scout is the blonde in sunglasses. She’s shown on 11-25-11 on a day out in Paris with her dad Bruce. Tallulah is shown with her dad and his wife Emma Heming on 2-22-10. She’s shown with her mom on 3-24-08. Rumer and Demi are shown out on 1-14-12. Credit: WENN.com

Demi Moore embarrassed by her OD “because she’s such a private person”

I wanted to add an “ORLY?” at the end of the part about how Demi is a “private person” but I thought that you could easily fill that in, given what we know about Demi “twitter addict” Moore. Demi’s people have released an unofficial statement to People Magazine, meant to be some kind of damage control after her overdose on “over the counter” but dangerous drugs like Whip-its and K2 Spice. We’ve also heard how she’s addicted to Adderall, downing Red Bull and coming on inappropriately to very young guys. Now comes the inevitable response, and it’s weak:

Having lived in the spotlight for more than three decades, Demi Moore has long crafted her image as a polished, glamorous star.

Privately, however, the 49-year-old actress had been unraveling in the months since her November split from husband Ashton Kutcher.

As she seeks treatment in the wake of her hospitalization on Jan. 23, Moore is struggling with the public nature of her breakdown.

“Ego-wise, this is the worst thing that could happen to Demi, because she’s such a private person,” a source close to the actress’ circle tells PEOPLE. “She’s embarrassed.”

But Kabbalah, the form of Jewish mysticism that Moore has long studied, instructs that adversity can ultimately prove beneficial, according to an insider.

Moore’s troubles “can be an opportunity, a blessing, and not a curse,” says the insider. “The right intervention happened in her life. From a spiritual sense, it is a gift. She has a real opportunity to grow from it. She has to take responsibility for her life.”

[From People]

There are a lot of laughable lines in this story. I’ll just add some additional details to People’s quotes. My quotes are the ones that aren’t in italics.
Demi Moore has long crafted her image as a polished, glamorous star” by having her publicist leak details about how “sexy” she is when she dances on tables.

Ego-wise, this is the worst thing that could happen to Demi, because she’s such a private person…” which is why she tweets photos of herself in a bikini and regularly sent public love notes to her husband.

But Kabbalah, the form of Jewish mysticism that Moore has long studied, instructs that adversity can ultimately prove beneficial, according to an insider. ” So they’re probably teaching Demi that she can move on from this, and that everything happened for reason. Given what I’ve heard about Kaballah, and knowing Demi’s celebrity status, I doubt they’re going to question her or bring awareness to the fact that she’s an addict who’s been starving herself. They give lip service to taking responsibility for her actions, but she’s not in rehab and is just doing what she always does in a crisis.

Despite occasionally running stories from Demi’s publicist, People Magazine seems to feel the same way a lot of us do. They mildly call out Demi, yet again, on their cover. They say that her obsession with staying young led to her breakdown. The title of this story on their website is surprisingly harsh, for People, “Inside Demi Moore’s Dangerous Desperation to ‘Stay Young and Skinny‘”

But as the actress approaches her 50th birthday – and her marriage to Ashton Kutcher, 33, began to crumble – several sources tell PEOPLE in this week’s cover story that the 49-year-old star battled deep feelings of insecurity. In fact, sources say the star was barely eating and partying wildly before her drug-fueled breakdown.

“As Demi got older, she convinced herself that she needed to stay young and skinny to remain attractive to her husband,” says a source who knows the former couple.

Continues the source: “She needed reassurance all the time that she was hot and sexy.”

Another source says that Moore, who is now seeking treatment following her Jan. 23 hospitalization, “was always fixated on being young. And the only thing that tied her to that, as she got older, was her marriage to a younger guy and hanging around young people.”

[From People]

We knew this, but when People says it they take it to a whole ‘nother level – that sector of the public who doesn’t pay as much attention to celebrities as we do. Demi and her aging crisis are now a major talking point.

A lot of outlets are wondering whether Demi Moore’s 911 call should have been made public. I think that it’s not an issue of whether Demi’s 911 call should be public, it’s an issue of whether any 911 call should be public. It seems invasive and unnecessary. We’re hearing people and their loved ones at their most vulnerable moments, sometimes right before they die. I hate 911 calls and would prefer to never hear another one in my life.

Demi Moore is not in rehab and is turning to Kabbalah for help, good idea?

There have been rumors that Demi Moore went off to in-patient rehab, as you might expect a celebrity to do in so high profile an overdose case as Demi’s. According to a new report on E! Online that’s not true, and Demi has just been seeking “spiritual” help. Demi is a longterm member of the Kabbalah cult. She supposedly went on a couples Kabbalah weekend in the woods with Ashton during their marriage crisis. We know how that turned out, and we also know that Kabbalah is just as money-grubbing, and probably as ineffective, as any other cult run by people who are in it to get rich.

This is what Demi does when she’s in crisis, she turns to Kabbalah and probably drinks some expensive phony blessed water mixed with Red Bull, with which she washes down Adderall. She’s not ready to get help yet, so she’s turning to people she pays a lot of money to give her a religious experience that probably in no way challenges her. I’m making assumptions based on how she’s done under Kabbalah so far, along with some things that Madonna’s estranged brother, Christopher Ciccone, said about Kabbalah. He said that”Kabbalah in many ways has validated some of [Madonna's] bad behavior. Now it’s her way or no one’s way because she’s got God on her side… she has a tendency to use it like a weapon.” Demi is less aggressive than Madonna (like almost everyone on the planet), but I could see Kabbalah enabling their celebrity members. It’s not like they’re going to question one of their main donors. Here’s E!’s report, which also states that Demi’s youngest daughter, Tallulah, has been living with her dad, Bruce Willis. Tallulah turns 18 on Friday. Bruce’s second wife, Emma Heming, is pregnant. They made the announcement in late October so she’s probably at least six months along now. Rumer has been seen out and about and seems to have confirmed that Demi is not in rehab.

While rumors have surfaced suggesting she’s already entered a residential rehab facility (with Utah’s Cirque Lodge among the most speculated upon), sources tell E! News that as of last week, at least, Moore was not enrolled in such a program. Her exact whereabouts are uncertain, as she has yet to surface in public since her dramatic hospitalization, though as of Sunday she was not yet back at her Beverly Hills home.

However, sources close to the Striptease star tell E! News that Moore has been receiving some sort of “spiritual counseling.”

Meanwhile, Demi’s daughters are getting back to their usual routines, with both Rumer and Tallulah turning up at the Four Seasons Hotel Sunday afternoon, possibly for a spa day. On Saturday night, Rumer was also out and about, dining with friends at a French restaurant.

Their sister, Scout, is currently at Brown University and hasn’t been back in L.A. since the hospitalization.

[From E! Online]

I would say that Demi should have someone close to her advising her that she needs to go to rehab at least for the sake of her image, but she didn’t have anyone advising her not to push the “sexy and single” angle she’s been playing since the split. Demi doesn’t have anyone around her who is able to get through to her, and if she’s been hopped up on Red Bull and ADHD stimulants for months, it’s probably impossible to talk to her anyway. I want to see her get sober and healthy and gain some necessary weight. She’s not ready yet though. I really hope that she will come to the realization on her own without sliding even further downhill. Wasn’t it humiliating enough for her to have all these details leaked to the press? Pride can be a fragile and harmful thing.

Demi Moore “smoked something” the night of her seizure, probably “k2 spice”

The 911 call for Demi Moore’s medical emergency has been released. I hate listening to 911 calls because they freak me out, but I made sure to listen to this one. The exact name of the drugs the caller admits Demi was on have been redacted due to privacy laws. Two different women and a man speak to the 911 operator. They say that Demi is convulsing, that she’s burning up, and that she’s unable to speak until towards the end of the call, when she stopped convulsing and was able to say something. As for what she’s been on they state two different things, the first of which is redacted and the second they say she smoked. Here’s more:

“She smoked something, it’s not marijuana, it’s similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions.”

The caller describes what Demi took. “Some form of [edited out] and then she smoked something.”

She’s been having some issues lately with some other stuff so I don’t know what she’s been taking or not.”

911 Operator: “Has she done this before?

“I don’t know, there’s been some stuff recently that we’re all just finding out.”

[From Radar and 911 call]

In the quoted text above I included the two statements that were the most telling to me about this call: that Demi has been “having some issues lately with some other stuff,” and that “there’s been some stuff recently.” That points to other ongoing drug use, possibly Adderall as we’ve heard.

The first drug that is redacted could be nitrous oxide, aka whip-its, as was previously reported. Radar has more information on what Demi could possibly have smoked. They say that it’s probably something called K2 Spice, which they state is a “currently legal herbal incense product spiked with powerful designer drugs.” It sounds nasty and dangerous. Here’s more, from Radar:

According to Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program, “The terms Spice and K2 refer to commercially available products that have been sprayed with research chemicals called synthetic cannabinoids but do not contain any cannabis (marijuana) components.

“These synthetic cannabinoids have been associated with impaired driving incidents, attempted suicides, and emergency department visits, and have been linked to such adverse effects as increased anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations, respiratory complications, aggression, mood swings, altered perception, and paranoia.”

Dr. Dembo said Demi’s convulsions could have been a result of smoking the substance.

“One of the things whenever you smoke not a grown substance, you are at the mercy of whatever chemicals are in there. It could be laced with something that could have the opposite effect of what you think it will.”

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Moore was rushed by an ambulance to the hospital following her seizure and is planning to seek help for her health, and will focus on her anorexia problem as well.

[From Radar Online]

I’ve been hearing a lot about the dangers of these new chemical type “over the counter” drugs, like “bath salts” and now “k2 spice.” They’re technically legal in some states as they’re sold for other uses, but they can cause serious medical problems including psychosis and death as they’re full of chemicals of unknown origin.

Demi is home now and I hope for her sake that she enters in patient rehab, starts to wean off the stuff she’s addicted to and gets treatment for her anorexia. Yesterday we heard that she’s been drinking Red Bull constantly along with taking the ADHD stimulant drug Adderall. Energy drink addiction is serious and combined with a prescription stimulant it must have really done a number on her body. I hope she can pull out of this, get sober and get some perspective.

Charlie Sheen claims he’s no longer crazy “that was an episode”

The fact that Charlie Sheen now has some kind of sitcom coming up on FX, despite all the truly insane things he said and did less than a year ago, is a testament to the power of the almighty dollar. I was just going over our archives on this guy, and if someone would have told me that any celebrity would have gone so spectacularly off the rails and been so public about it, I wouldn’t have believed it. Not only did he rant and rave at everyone, he gave countless interviews, he videotaped himself ranting, he made it into a live tour, and he capitalized on his memes with t-shirts and Twitter endorsements. It was kind of mind blowing, but it definitely got old and then he went away for a while. In the interim he landed this sitcom gig based on the Anger Management movie, and now he’s back. Well Charlie wants us all to know that he’s totally sane now that he’s back on TV and that he was just going through something, which he calls “episode”:

“I’m not crazy any more. That was an episode,” Sheen says, laughing, as he spoke with reporters at Sunday night’s Fox Network Television Critics Association party in Pasadena, Calif.

“I think I’m a different person than I was yesterday. Everything is a lot more mellow and focused and much more rooted in reality.”

Sheen, 46, couldn’t be more Zen about his new FX show, Anger Management, in which he will star and produce. He reports that casting is underway and that they will shoot 10 episodes in six weeks.

“I’ve been at this 30 years. It’s nice to be in a situation where the people I’m working with are excited about my input. That wasn’t the case for a long time,” Sheen says.

Of late, Sheen says instead of sounding off on Twitter, “I’ve been spending a lot of time with the kids, a lot of time with the family and I’m getting back into work mode,” adding that he is goddess-free these days. “I’m a single guy hanging out with my children.”

Asked if he has been in contact with his former Two and a Half Men costar Jon Cryer, or producer Chuck Lorre, Sheen says, “Jon and I text. Chuck, no, but at some point we are going to have to get some closure there.”

His opinion of his TV character’s funeral, which opened the sitcom’s new season last September, now that it stars Ashton Kutcher? “It was a little bizarre to watch your own funeral. It was a little mean-spirited. But it’s dead and buried now, right?”

While Sheen says it’s “premature” to name the celebrities who would like to make cameo appearances on his new show, he says “everybody” wants to take part.

[From People]

Maybe he’s no longer on a manic drug-induced high, but I bet it will be just a matter of time before he’s back on the sauce, if he isn’t already and is just maintaining. He claimed to have been sober through the power of his mind and not through any program that he refused to attend. He probably thinks he can still handle it without a problem. The last time I saw him interviewed, with his ex Brooke Mueller on ET, he was wasted but still able to speak clearly. You couldn’t say as much for Brooke since she was mumbling. So where does the drug abuse end and the crazy begin for Charlie, or is it just a big blur at this point? Does “no longer crazy” just mean he’s trying to stay sober during working hours?

SNL’s Darrell Hammond used to be a boozehound, cokehead monster

wenn967191

Darrell Hammond was one of my favorite Saturday Night Live cast members of all time. His impressions, more often than not, were completely spot-on and eerily awesome. My favorite is still his version of Bill Clinton, although I do have affection for his Al Gore (and his Dick Cheney was just disturbing, like the real Dick Cheney). Over the years, I’ve seen Hammond interviewed on various TV shows, and I always liked how game he was to do some of his most celebrated impressions, and how he always seemed like a solid, funny dude. Well, as it turns out, Hammond was not so solid. He’s written a memoir called God, If You‘re Not Up There, I‘m F*cked, and he details his years of alcohol and cocaine abuse:

“Saturday Night Live” comic Darrell Hammond — famed for his spot-on impressions of Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Dick Cheney — reveals in a new book how he drank and did cocaine while with the show and was once taken from NBC “in a straitjacket.”

To escape memories of a traumatic childhood, Hammond heavily indulged in alcohol and drugs as he rose to fame on the show, where he worked with guests Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Mick Jagger and Sting.

“I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work,” Hammond recalls in “God, If You’re Not Up There, I’m F*cked,” out Nov. 8 from HarperCollins. “The drinking calmed my nerves and quieted the disturbing images that sprang into my head … when drinking didn’t work, I cut myself.”

In 1998, cops took Hammond from the NBC infirmary to New York Hospital in a straitjacket. “My wife came but I didn’t recognize her,” he writes.

In 2002, Hammond recalls, “I’d started adding an obscene amount of cocaine to my binges … I had to be creative about how I did it without other people catching on or letting it interfere with the work. At least too much.”

In 2009, during his 14th “SNL” season, and having gone to rehab once, Hammond relapsed. “I had the brilliant idea I should try crack,” he writes — and he spent time in a Harlem crack house.

After months of treatment, Hammond broke free of drugs and earned raves doing the one-man play “Tru” in Sag Harbor this summer. But a car crash cut the show short. A lawsuit is pending over the accident, and Hammond, who wasn’t able to stand at first, has begun getting back on stage. He’s also working with Will Ferrell’s “Funny or Die” Web site.

Copies of Hammond’s new book were sent over to “SNL” Thursday, and he’s waiting for reaction. “I don’t have anything bad to say about anyone there,” he told us. “They all really went above and beyond the call for me.”

[From Page Six]

Yeah, it doesn’t sound like he blaming anyone else for his problems, although… damn, that must have been a crazy time. Tina Fey became the head writer for SNL in 2000, I believe, so she was his de facto boss (along with Lorne Michaels) during The Cocaine Years. I have to wonder if Lorne and Tina had any idea that it was this bad. I have to wonder if he was just able to “maintain” really well.

Does anyone else like any story that begins, “I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work…”? I know he’s talking about his alcoholism and that’s horrible and everything, but at least he was drinking the good stuff. At least when he started.

Oh, and he was a cutter? Damn. Well, I’m glad he got help.

Does anyone else think he looks like James Spader? The version of Spader currently, not vintage Spader. They could be brothers.

Redmond O’Neal arrested for possession of heroin (again)

redmondoneal1
After Amy Winehouse died and everyone said all those thoughtful things about addiction (at least some people did, others remained clueless) I began to take a different view of it. It just seems freaking sad to me and so useless. This story in particular makes my heart hurt a little. Redmond O’Neal, who had to to attend his mom Farrah Fawcett’s funeral in handcuffs, was arrested on possession of heroin yesterday. He was in violation of probation for an earlier arrest for drugs and was sent to jail without bail.

Redmond O’Neal has another mug shot to add to his portfolio and RadarOnline.com has the latest.

The 26-year-old was arrested in Santa Monica, Calif. on Tuesday after he ran a red light and police found heroin in his car during a routine inspection.

“At approximately 8:45 a.m. a motor officer observed an argument at a store on Lincoln corner of Michigan,” a police spokesperson told RadarOnline.com. “O’Neal was one of those involved in the argument.

“The officer then watched as he got into his vehicle. He proceeded to go northbound on Lincoln before turning west bound on Olympic, it was at this time the officer observed him going through the red turn arrow.”

The spokesperson continued: “The officer stopped him for the traffic violation. A search of his vehicle was done and narcotics were recovered.”

O’Neal is currently being held without bail.

[From Radar Online]

I tried to review Redmond’s storied history with the law and the details were so complicated it was hard for me to figure out which arrest he was in violation of. Here’s a partial recap. He was arrested in September, 2008 along with his dad, Ryan O’Neal, when cops raided the home they shared, (as part of a probation investigation, natch) found meth, and charged them both with possession. (The Enquirer ran a follow up story claiming the two did drugs together regularly and that Ryan was incredibly abusive to his son. Another one of Ryan’s sons, Griffin, claimed on Larry King that his dad gave him cocaine when he was just 11.)

Redmond was ordered to rehab for meth possession for that charge while all Ryan had to do was attend some drug awareness classes. Redmond was arrested again in April, 2009 when he tried to bring heroin with him to visit a friend in jail. (This seems to be the charge he violated probation for with this latest arrest.) His mom Farrah died in June, 2009.

While on a 24 hour pass from court-ordered rehab in December 2009, Redmond used drugs. He was sent back to jail for 30 days, and then went back to rehab yet again, graduating from his court-appointed drug program in August, 2010. So the kid went to rehab many, many times after multiple arrests and he was supposedly clean last year.

Redmond’s mom Farrah left most of her $4.5 million estate to him, leaving nothing to her parasitic boyfriend, Ryan. So we have a young man who is a millionaire addict who lost his mom to cancer and has an abusive druggie for a dad. Maybe his siblings can reach out to him, but it doesn’t sound like he can be helped much at this point. Like Lilo, jail may be the best place for him. Oh and Redmond’s older half brother, Griffin, was hospitalized and released yesterday after a car accident in Escondido, CA. He seems to be ok now though.

Is Ben Affleck’s gambling addiction ruining his marriage to Jennifer Garner?

starmag1

A couple of weeks ago, Star Magazine and Radar had a pretty decent scoop on the hush-hush underground poker games going down with A-list Hollywood. Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio were all listed as attendees of these high-stakes, high-losses poker games, which might result in multiple lawsuits and perhaps even a federal investigation. From what I could see, Star and Radar had actually done some footwork and investigative journalism to get the story, but they exploited the fact that all of these A-list men were partaking, and there were a series of denials and such. Who knows how it’s going to turn out?

BUT! The gambling story still has legs, especially for Ben Affleck, who in 2001 was treated for his gambling addiction. After his rehab stay, he also claimed that he had given up alcohol, although there are persistent rumors that he‘s still boozing (with photo evidence). So Star Magazine’s cover story this week includes the Garner-Affleck marriage in its trilogy of marriage problems. According to Star, Jennifer Garner “had no idea” that Affleck was back to drinking and gambling away millions of dollars. An insider tells the mag, “Jennifer is terrified that his history of gambling, drinking and womanizing is catching up with him… If things get worse, Jen could be a single mom.” Star’s source also says that Ben is telling friends that Jennifer “busted his balls” when she found out, and a “card shark” who played with Affleck says: “As we gambled, [Ben] would joke with us that he’d told Jen he was going to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. He’d say, ‘I’ve got to get home to the wife before she figures out where I am.’”

Meanwhile, in the new issue of Star (according to Radar), sources also claim that at one point, Ben owed $400,000 to a “powerful movie mogul” – Ron Meyer, Tobey Maguire’s father-in-law. There are also claims that Ben even “hosted” his own underground poker game (referred to as “Ben’s Game”) at the Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills, a high-end cigar club, back in 2003, and that Jennifer Lopez knew about it and wasn‘t happy about it. The games would later move to Prego Ristorante, and that’s where Ben lost $400K to Meyer: “Ben busted big. He drummed up a giant tab, and then all of a sudden he disappeared from the game. He wasn’t seen for months. He’d had a string of bad movies and didn’t have any big projects on the horizon, and everyone was wondering, ‘Is Ben broke?’ But we knew that he couldn’t stiff a businessman like Ron Meyer. That would be ‘career over’ in Hollywood. Suicide. Eventually, Ron got paid and Ben started turning up to the games again.”

For the record, Affleck’s rep went to Gossip Cop and “assured” them that the story is “false” and all “lies” and then the rep pointed to these photos of Ben and Jennifer’s Fourth of July, almost like those pics were a candid photo shoot designed specifically for damage control…? No, they would never! DIMPLES. Just look at the dimples.

Amy Winehouse cancels dates on her tour after drunken “itchy arms” performance

Amy tries to sing at 1:20

Amy Winehouse was too wasted to remember the words to her song during a performance in Belgrade over the weekend. In a video of the show, (above) Amy rubs her nose and arms, sways back and forth awkwardly and mumbles as she tries to fake her way through “Just Friends.” At times she seemed distracted by her arms, rubbing them and looking down with glazed eyes before she remembers that she’s supposed to be performing. This was supposed to be the first of 12 European shows for Amy, but because she was too out of it to even complete one gig her next two have been canceled. The last we heard from Amy she was in rehab, but she left after just a week there.

Amy Winehouse, attempting to perform while appearing to be under the influence, was booed off the stage in Belgrade on Saturday night after she arrived on stage an hour late, then stumbled around and slurred the words to her 2008 song “Just Friends.”

She greeted the crowd of 20,000 by shouting, “Hello, Athens,” reports the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper.

Following the incident, Winehouse, 27, apologized to fans and canceled Monday’s scheduled performance in Istanbul and Wednesday’s in Athens, say reports.

Late last month, Winehouse checked into rehab for her ongoing problem with drugs and alcohol, the singer’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE. The treatment was seen as preparation for this tour.

In a statement following the Belgrade incident, Winehouse’s management said: “Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home. … She would like to apologize to fans expecting to see her at the shows but feels that this is the right thing to do.”

Her next show is scheduled for Friday, July 8, in Spain.

[From People]

So Amy has a whole two and a half weeks to get it together. Considering that she hasn’t been able to do that in several years, that’s not likely to happen. The best we can hope for is to her to stay semi-sober enough to sing and remember the words. Maybe her record company should just send her back to St. Lucia and forget about trying to have her tour. She wasn’t quite sober in the Caribbean but she seemed to be keeping it together and it didn’t seem like she was going to go the way of so many other talented musicians. She turns 28 on September 14. I hope it’s not callous to say that I really hope she makes it.
