Faith Hill in Chado Ralph Rucci at the ACM Awards: inappropriate or lovely?

Here are some more photos from the Academy of Country Music Awards, which aired last night on CBS. You can read about the winners here. Faith Hill attended the ACMs because Tim McGraw was performing with some other country stars – correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Faith performed at all? Which is fine. I’m just trying to keep it straight. There are some photos of Faith where she looks somewhat normal, and then there are some pics where you can see all of the work that she’s had done. It’s not just Botox, but ‘Tox is definitely a co-conspirator. Anyway, she wore this Chado Ralph Rucci dress (which I thought was a gaucho jumpsuit at first). Look at that high slit. YIKES. Dear Faith, I do not need to see your ACM Beav.

Here’s Jewel in a Georges Chakra Couture pageant dress in a really bad color. This whole thing just looks so cheap! I think Jewel is really pretty but NO on this dress.

LL Cool J was there! I know, it’s weird. But the ACMs aired on CBS, and I think CBS just gets LL Cool J to cohost all of their events these days because he’s a big star on NCIS: LA.

Here’s Luke Bryan, who was a big winner last night.

Hunter Hayes (my mom love him) and Stevie Wonder. Stevie’s looking good!

And here’s Keith Urban, who was without Nicole Kidman. Shock. I don’t get why all the women were wearing evening gowns and so many of the dudes were wearing jeans. I think Keith is wearing lifts too.

Faith Hill in J.Mendel at the Grammys: pretty or cheap?

Miranda Lambert was one of the first performers at last night’s Grammy Awards, she did a duet with Dierks Bentley of “Home” and “Over You,” (video is here and a complete list of winners is here). The audio for the vocals was so low that you could barely hear them. I nded up feeling sorry for her, and it makes me wonder why, with the best audio engineers in the whole damn world, the Grammy Awards can’t get the sound perfect for every performance. About 3/4 of the way through the vocals were adjusted to sound clearer, but it was too little too late. Miranda and Dierks got shafted.

In terms of her fashion, Miranda wore this plunging navy Roberto Cavalli gown on the red carpet that I thought was pretty sexy, if a bit underwhelming. She didn’t go with her usual short, sequin look, and reserved that for her performance dress. I really liked her statement earrings and bold cuff bracelets. Her hair and makeup were also very well done. During her interview with Ryan Seacrest, Miranda joked about the letter that went out ahead of the Grammys warning the performers not to show too much skin. She pointed to her cleavage and talked about “puffy skin” being banned, but that part of the letter was clearly about “genitals” not boobs. They also didn’t want any nips showing. (See: Rihanna) Oh and Miranda was nominated for Best Country Album, which went to Zac Brown Band for Uncaged.

Also in Roberto Cavalli was the adorable Carly Rae Jepsen. I DVRed the red carpet interviews on both the TV Guide Channel and E! (although I only watched E! most of the time) and Carly was there at the beginning and she spoke to both Chris Harrison and Ryan Seacrest. Carly compared finding this dress to when Ariel the Little Mermaid got her legs for the first time. She was very gracious and happy to be there, and I came away with a lot of affection for her. In terms of the dress, it shimmered beautifully on camera and fit her perfectly. These photos don’t do it justice, it was gorgeous. I’m not a fan of her thick bangs, and her foundation looked really orange on camera when she was presenting, but overall this was a win for Carly. (She didn’t take home any Grammys though. She was nominated in the Best Solo Performance and Song of The Year categories, for “Call Me Maybe,” which went to Adele and Janelle Monáe.)

Faith Hill wasn’t as successful, in my opinion, in J. Mendel. The dress was somewhat cheap-looking to me, with mesh and sequins overlaying a sweetheart bodice. I think the skirt section is navy while the top is black, too. Plus her hair really doesn’t suit her swept up like that. She was probably going for edgy, but a softer, loose style would have lightened up the whole look. She looked really cute next to her husband, though. Faith and Tim McGraw are one of those couples that looks so alike that you can tell their relationship is solid. (Or not, they’re famous after all. Maybe they’re just good at keeping up appearances.)

In contrast to this longstanding married couple we have the on-off-on again engaged twits, Kat Von D and Deadmau5. They were interviewed by Giuliana on the red carpet and I got so distracted by Kat’s vocal drone. She wore this sweater dress that looks like she just picked it off the floor and threw it on to go for a coffee run. Trash to the E. He looks so over it, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re fighting and breaking up over Twitter again.

Finally I wanted to add Estelle in there as she wore this kind of funky dress that Kelly Osbourne was gushing about. It was a dress that Estelle designed along with her team, and I can’t decide if I like it. It’s very 70s and it’s not totally fug, it’s just funky and different. That must be her style and she looks like she has a sense of humor about it too.

Faith Hill’s Rucci gown & lion hair at the CMAs: lovely or hideous?

aes-049787

I was going to lead in with Taylor Swift, who took home entertainer of the year at last night’s CMAs, but that was before I got a look at Faith Hill and her stiff lion’s mane hair. DEAR GOD. Now, I love Faith Hill. I think she’s got a great voice, she’s beautiful and she’s always seemed like a cool woman who is secretly a bitch (and I love bitches). I think Faith could look good in almost anything, but she often pushes the boundaries with the worse fashion. Last night her dress was Chado Ralph Rucci, and it… just looks like meh Calvin Klein. Remember when Calvin Klein was just doing these simple white long-sleeved dresses? The only thing really disturbing about this look is her hair. This is a disaster.

aes-049773

Now for Taylor Swift in her puffy wedding gown. I get so bored with her in these princess/fairy dresses. This J. Mendel one is especially bad, and Swifty’s hair is terrible.

Next up: Ginnifer Goodwin in Prabal Gurung. It seems way too busy, but I really like the way Ginnifer’s hair has grown out.

aes-049735

Carrie Underwood had a million costume changes, but this was her red carpet look – Reem Acra. Boring pageant girl.

aes-049800

And finally, Miranda Lambert in Haute Hippie. She’s a compact little hourglass isn’t she? Maybe it just seems that way because Blake Shelton is so obscenely tall.

ITW: Tim McGraw’s alcoholism led to problems in his marriage to Faith Hill

wenn5440748

I had absolutely no idea that Tim McGraw had a drinking problem several years ago. Did you know that? Apparently, Tim has been very candid about it in interviews over the years, and up until about three years ago, he was pretty much an unapologetic lush who preferred to spend time at bars rather than with his wife and daughters. This is the crux of In Touch Weekly’s “Separate Lives” story on Tim McGraw and Faith Hill – ITW claims that Tim’s alcoholism (if we’re calling it that) has had repercussions in his marriage even now that he’s sober. Tim never went to AA or got with any program. He just decided to stop drinking, and managed to do it (“The George W. Bush Method”). Anyway, ITW basically says that even though Tim is sober now, his marriage to Faith is still kind of crappy, but that no one is talking about divorce… yet:

From a distance, their 14-year-marriage seems like a fairy tale. In fact, Tim McGraw recently boasted about wife Faith Hill, “We’ll be together forever.”

But sources close to the country stars tell In Touch that cracks have long been visible in the façade. “There were times when the fighting would get intense,” one insider says. “It would get out of control.”

Things were so bad, a source claims that Faith and their three daughters stayed in their Belle Meade mansion while Tim started sleeping alone at their farm near Leipers Fork.

“It got too heavy,” adds the insider. According to the same insider, much of the trouble seems to have stemmed from Tim’s admitted drinking problem.

“Tim used to be off his rocker… he was a fun and crazy guy, and he and Faith would argue because she didn’t want him partying.” Even Tim has admitted as much, saying” I only learned hot to text because I would get in trouble when I would call my wife and she would find out I was drinking…Then I started slurring my texts.”

Tim finally decided to get sober three years ago, at his wife’s insistence. But Tim gave up alcohol without the help of a formal 12-step program, a move many experts urge against.

But, despite their troubles, it’s unlikely Tim and Faith will ever split: “Faith has too much pride to let anyone think they don’t have a picture-perfect life.”

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

To emphasize the “Separate Lives” part of the story, In Touch also includes a photo of their second estate, the farm house that was once owned by Hank Williams. Apparently, Faith hates the house because she find it creepy, and she thinks it’s haunted. It looks nice, though. Nothing that some paint and an exorcism couldn’t cure.

Here’s a question – if Gwyneth needed “help” with playing an addict in Country Strong, why didn’t she just ask her costar Tim McGraw? Why did she have to go to Robert Downey Jr.? Is she an snobby elitist even when it comes to addicts? Also: If you told me that Gwyneth Paltorw was the Typhoid Mary of marriage troubles, I would believe you.

Faith Hill is fine with aging, will ‘run miles for a fried pork chop’

faithinset
Faith Hill is Redbook’s cover girl for May, and she’s talking about aging in the interview. Unlike Brooke Shields’ interview in More Magazine, Faith doesn’t come across as complaining. But that is perhaps because I’ve always adored Faith Hill – she’s always struck me as very authentic, a classy Southern girl who doesn’t take crap from anyone.

In Redbook (story via US Magazine), Faith says that “beauty has a lot to do with comfort and being around my family”. She says she doesn’t wear that much make-up in her everyday life, and that as she’s paying more attention to what she can and can’t eat as she ages. But true to her Southern roots, Faith claims she still loves her fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, but “Once a week I’ll cook a Southern comfort meal… it is truly comfort food… we will run miles for a fried pork chop!” Amen to that, sister.

faithinset2At 41 years old, Faith Hill has her priorities straight.

The singer has finally learned how to balance her career, her family — she and her country legend husband, Tim McGraw, have three daughters, Gracie, 12, Maggie, 10, and Audrey, 7 — and her post-40 body.

“I actually figured it all out last summer, and it all has to do with laziness!” Hill jokes in the May issue of Redbook (on newsstands April 28). “At the end of the day, for me beauty has a lot to do with comfort and being around my family — and most likely no makeup!”

The star, who admits that most days she only has time for a swipe of mascara and a touch of concealer, admits that she has her negative moments.

“I’m not saying I don’t look in the mirror and say, ‘That line wasn’t there yesterday,’” says the singer, who adds that she has wrinkles and has had lines on her neck since she was a child. “But I try not to focus on that. Taking better care of myself has helped a lot — there’s this quiet confidence that comes with it.”

And how does Hill — who transformed herself to look like three of her favorite blonde icons, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy for the magazine — keep her body in such great shape?

“I was aging pretty well, but I wasn’t really committed to working out and eating right,” the country crooner confesses. “And it’s not that I diet now, but I’ve just become conscious of what I put into my body, because I know what I put in it is also going to show on the outside.”

The Mississippi native has also learned to enjoy her favorite foods — fried chicken and macaroni and cheese top her list — in moderation.

“I still do cook them, but not every night like I used to,” she says. “I try to stay with a lot more fresh fruits and vegetables… Once a week I’ll cook a Southern comfort meal, because that’s where Tim and I come from and it is truly comfort food. There’s nothing like it. I mean, I’m sorry, but we will run miles for a fried pork chop!”

The star says that once she stopped making excuses, it was her choice to stay healthy. “Once I saw the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, it just become so worth it to me, physically and psychologically,” she tells Redbook.

She adds: “As I get older, I’m learning much more about how to better take care of myself and the things that do and don’t work for me.”

From US Magazine

You can take the girl out of the South, but you can never take the South out of the girl. I think Faith has the best response to aging – just relax and let it happen. Take care of yourself when possible, but don’t freak out over wrinkles or gray hairs or whatever else comes your way. It’s about the little things – I remember how stunned I was when I noticed an improvement in my health, figure, skin and general well-being when I just started drinking a lot of water. Of course, Faith is helped along by great genes – in the pictures from Redbook, she looks perfect as a young Grace Kelly. Amazing!

Faith Hill poses in a bikini on the cover of Shape

I’m always amazed that any celebrity would even own a bikini. Tara Reid is a perfect example of why you’re just asking for trouble – the combination of a zoom lens and bad lighting can kill a career. Yet most of them seem to spend ¾ of their summers gallivanting around in little more than tiny triangles of fabric. And if you’re that brave – more power to you. Even if you are Tara Reid.

Country singer Faith Hill is donning a bikini for a magazine cover – for the first time ever. That’s pretty awesome. Hill is 41 but appears at least 10 years younger, and she looks absolutely amazing.

Faith Hill’s beautiful face has adorned covers of CDs and magazines before, but for the first time ever she’s posing in a bikini. What gave her the bravery? Pilates. “I could bend in ways I haven’t been able to since I was a teenager,” the Nashville-based star tells Shape magazine for its December issue (on sale Nov. 10). “My husband [Tim McGraw] loves it!”

There was another consideration: knee surgery in January forced her to cease exercising for six months. “I had never gone that long without doing something,” she says. “I was not happy.” In July she and McGraw began a daily routine that included four miles on the elliptical, light weight lifting, crunches and push-ups.

“I found I slept better, had more energy and was stronger,” says Hill, who then increased her regime to include Pilates classes three times a week. “It was so hard, but ultimately so worth it. My core is much stronger, and my arms are more toned. In fact, wearing a bikini on a magazine cover is my 41st birthday present to myself.”

[From People]

If I looked like that at 41, you could not pay me to keep my clothes on. I would be beyond immodest. Hill does have a cardigan over her bikini. It’s cute and matches nicely, but a little uncommon. It makes me think she’s still a bit uncomfortable with a few parts of her body, and that’s probably why she wore it.

I don’t blame her, I’m just surprised – if nothing else a retoucher can get rid of any imperfections. Nonetheless, she looks amazing and clearly worked hard for it.

Here’s Faith Hill and husband Tim McGraw enjoy a family outing with their three daughters in June. Images thanks to Bauer-Griffin.

Faith Hill Loses 20 Years

Jezebel.com

I know airbrushing is a standard practice for magazine covers, and certainly we all can use a little help with our close ups! But I sometimes think we’ve gone too far. Half the time I can’t tell one blonde from another on the cover of Cosmopolitan, needing to look for the person’s name to identify them.

Faith Hill just did a cover shoot for Redbook, and looked fabulous. Tanned, blonde and healthy at 39. Then they airbrushed her, and she kind of turned into a Stepford Wife. I know all cover shots are airbrushed, but have we gone too far? Really, Faith was guilty of nothing more than looking ten years younger than her real age. Now she looks virtually unrecognisale.

The pictures have come about as the result of Gawker blog Jezebel offering a $10,000 prize to the person who could supply before-and-after airbrushing shots. Jezebel editor gives us the details on the airbrushing.

Jezebel editor Anna Holmes said that the site had received between five and 10 submissions, and that the Faith Hill shot had been chosen based on the fact that much of her body was both visible and radically altered. “Part of me was hoping for a Vogue cover,” Holmes admitted. Barring that, the contest “wasn’t about [Hill], it was about how magazines retouch women to make women look at times unrecognizable. The original photo — when I saw it I broke out into a big grin, not because I was having a gotcha moment, but because I said, ‘Here’s a woman who looks like a real woman.’” Holmes said the site was aware of the identity of the photo leaker but declined to discuss the “myriad” ways that Jezebel they had acquired the photos.

Actually, I think Faith Hill looks a little like Jessica Simpson on the cover.

Thanks to Jezebel.com for the photo header.

Jessica Simpson and Faith Hill: separated at birth

When I first saw these pictures of Jessica Simpson out with her dog and bodyguard after an MTV Total Request Live appearance, I was struck by how much she looks like Faith Hill with her hair like that. She could do a lot worse than to look like the gorgeous country singer.

The way Jessica is kissing and cuddling this dog it looks like she’s ready for motherhood. It’s a cute puppy and that’s sweet that she’s bringing it around with her. I can’t say anything nice about her ugly shit-brown boots so I’ll quit describing them in such unflattering terms.

“Employee of the Month” is a boring, trite film by almost every critic’s estimation. It came in fourth at the box office, pulling in $11.8 million in its opening weekend. That’s not a great take, but seems to be decent considering that it only cost $12 million to make.

Pictures were taken on 10/4 and are from Lime-light.

(I’m not tagging the header image and I actually came up with this, so link back if you want to use it.)
