Lea Michele is still pissing off the wardrobe, hair & makeup departments

fp_7216960_michelemonteith_glee_aar_15_16

Yesterday, I wrote about the new photos of the Glee cast as they film in New York City. I asked the question: It’s as if someone is trying to make Lea Michele look like hell, right? So… these are newer photos from the Glee Manhattan-athon, and I still have to ask: what did Lea Michele do to piss off the wardrobe, hair and makeup departments? It must have been something really bad. Like this face:

fp_7218165_glee_park_cwny_04_24

In most the shots below, Lea is in the same hideous Rainbow Brite striped coat (and the unfortunate outfit underneath the coat. But in the other shots – where she’s with Cory Monteith, Lea is wearing what I’m assuming is some “romantic” dress. Except that it doesn’t look cool and vintagey, it looks dated and sad (to me). And Cory looks super-engaged with Lea’s drama machine, doesn’t he? He’s so over it. And I love how Lea is always so incredibly aware of the camera.

fp_7216348_michelemonteith_glee_aar_02_16

By the way, the Emmy nominations will be coming out soon (within a few weeks, I think), and Lea is considered a shoo-in for another nomination for Lead Actress in a Comedy. If she’s up against people like Mary-Louise Parker, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, what are Lea’s chances? Read more about it here at the Los Angeles Times.

It’s as if someone is trying to make Lea Michele look like hell, right?

fp_7212587_glee_aar_34_42

These are photos of some of the Glee girls (and Chris Colfer) filming in (SPOILER) New York on Monday. I see Diana Argon and Lea Michele, and I don’t care about the other ones. Lea, as you may know from my informal Twitter polling, won our contest for “Who Would You Rather Smack?” question. It was between Lea and Kristen Stewart, and most of you wanted to smack Lea (I wanted to smack K-Stew). Note: I’m not advocating violence in any way, we were just having a theoretical discussion about the IDEA of which girl is more worthy of a smack, and it’s not like any of us would ever do it. We just like to fantasize about it. For some of us, it’s a fantasy that gets us through the day.

fp_7212130_glee_aar_05_42

Anyway, Lea won our little poll, and I’m guessing that these photos will add to her negative appeal. Lea is styled in what I’m guessing is an homage to Mary Tyler Moore? I have to give Lea some credit – she’s able to “pull off” 1970s styles more than most actresses. Now, to negate that credit, she looks like hell. It’s just a bad combination of bangs trauma and too-bright horizontal stripes and HER FACE.

fp_7212281_glee_aar_16_42

Which brings me to my next poll question: Do you think the crew of Glee hates Lea Michele too? The makeup people, the costume department, the producers, the camera guys, I feel like they’re all conspiring to make Lea look like hell because they don’t care for her either. Or because she’s actively alienated them. Do you think some people actually had to put some effort into making Lea look this bad, or do you think it just comes naturally to Lea? Discuss.

Last thing: Chris Colfer. Feathers. No comment.

Lea Michele “mocked a girl for no reason” at Coachella

wenn3231767

Yesterday afternoon, I emailed this story to CB, asking her if I should cover it. We were both wishy-washy on it, because our perspective on Lea Michele is totally skewed. In the history of Lea Michele’s (perceived and actual) bitchiness, this story just seemed… meh. But I’m doing it, I suppose, because everybody likes talking about Lea’s latest incident of bitchiness. Here’s the story, via E! News:

A few Glee stars ditched New Directions this weekend and hit Coachella in the desert to watch other people sing for once. Lea Michele, Chord Overstreet and Harry Shum Jr. all checked out the concerts together from the VIP area Saturday, where one of them was trying to go incognito.

“Harry introduced himself to two girls as Jerry from San Luis Obispo and said he was unemployed,” an eyewitness reports. “The girls played along even though they knew who he was.”

But when one girl jokingly called “Jerry” over to sit with them later, Lea couldn’t resist making fun of her…

“Lea started laughing and imitated her in a high-pitched voice,” the onlooker said. “She was totally mocking her for no reason.”

Lea was all smiles later while hanging at the Lacoste and HTC pool party on Sunday, where Katy Perry, Kellan Lutz and Alexander Skarsgård were also spotted.

Chord and Harry ditched Lea later and caught up with another Gleek at the Armani Exchange Neon Carnival Saturday night. They hit the late night bash with Mark Salling.

[From E! News]

So, Lea was trying to be a snot, but she ended up looking like she wasn’t really in on the joke, right? And who thinks that this is just Lea’s normal behavior whenever people don’t pay enough attention to her? That’s what Lea reminds me of: a needy child who acts out to get attention. She was probably truly offended that Harry Shum and Chord weren’t both trying to get into her pants.

By the way, on Twitter yesterday, I asked who you guys would rather smack, Lea or Kristen Stewart. The only rule is that you can only smack one of them, and you have to leave the other unscathed. Although I definitely think both have earned it, I would choose K-Stew, mid-eye-roll.

Was Lea Michele pissed that she had to share the cover of Marie Claire?

mc1

Glee girls Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Amber Riley cover the May issue of Marie Claire (America). They did a cover all together (although Dianna seems ‘Shopped in), and then each one got a separate cover – my guess is that the separate covers will go to the subscribers? Perhaps. Here’s a question: Do you think Lea Michele was pissed that she didn’t get her own cover? Is that what her face says to you? Like, “Um, don’t you know that I HAVE PERFECT PITCH and I’m thin and beautiful and I belong on the cover BY MYSELF?!?” Actually, I think Lea seems kind of fine with sharing the cover. Weird, I know. I usually want to smack her, but not today. I’m feeling generous! Here’s a little preview of the interview(s):

MC – Your character’s friendship with Kurt is so special. Who’s your Kurt in real life?
Amber Riley – “Kurt! Chris Colfer really is my Kurt. That’s my baby. Having his character at that other school – Dalton Academy-this season is driving me up the wall.

Dianna Agron – “Everybody is convinced that Lea and I are in a relationship. There are forums with photos of us hugging.”

MC – You famously got into a car accident on the way to your Glee audition, ditched the rental and ran to the Fox lot anyway. Were you at all afraid they would think you were nuts?
Lea Michele – “I was more afraid that they’d think I was using that as an excuse for being late. Because at first they were like, “Oh, my God are you OK?” But after a while they were joking, “So that ‘car crash’ you were in….” I literally had chunks of glass that I pulled from my hair and put on the table. I look back on that day and think, I can’t believe I did that. I left the car on the side of the road. But something came over me.”

[From Marie Claire]

Really, Dianna? That’s what you’re going to talk about, how there are maybe a handful of people who think you’re a lesbian, and you’re going to give those people credence? Sometimes I forget that Glee is the first big break for almost everybody on there. Some of them just don’t know how to talk to the press.

In other Glee news, I’m sure you’ve heard that Dame Gwyneth will deign to goop her way through another episode. This time, it seems like Dame Goop is going to vocally rape my beloved Adele. Now… Adele has pipes. Adele’s voice is, in a word, magnificent. Gwyneth’s voice is… okay when it’s auto-tuned. Why in the word did Adele give Glee permission to molest her songs? UGH. UGH. This gives me physical pain. Here’s the song that Goop will be musically chain-sawing:

Um… Adele has more soul, talent and coolness in her pinkie than Lea, Dianna and Goop all put together. Amber gets a pass because I don’t know much about her.

Oscar After-Party Fashion: Lea Michele’s smug face & the Party Girls

wenn3230364

Okay, so I was just going through our massive (some would say exhaustive) coverage of Oscar fashion, and I noticed that I left a few gaps – not enough photos of the party girls. The women who didn’t come to present an award, and weren’t even invited to the Oscars, but they still wanted to get dressed up and party. The headliner “Party Girl” was going to be Charlize, but then Lea Michele’s blue eye liner stopped me dead in my tracks. I mean… this chick just will not be ignored, right? The Roberto Cavalli dress says “IT’S ALL ABOUT ME!!!”

wenn3230369

Next: Charlize in Versace. Simple. Classy. A little bit too much for someone who is ONLY coming out for the parties, but still, it’s fine.

wenn3230706

Anna Paquin in Monique Lhuillier. I really dislike it, but it’s occasion-appropriate.

wenn3229732

Naomi Watts in Zac Psen. HATE IT. Passionately. The white feathers on black, the sheer cutout, all of it is so unflattering. “That’s gross,” said La Blanchett.

wenn3229872

Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad. This is completely pornographic on her insane body. I love her, but she should have gone with a milder dress.

wenn3230377

Elizabeth Banks in vintage Versace. Perfect. Truly, this is what a girl should wear if she’s only doing the party circuit.

wenn3230502

Kate Beckinsale, and I can’t find who designed this. Honestly, I really like this dress. I think it’s a beautiful gown, and I would have loved to see it on someone like Melissa Leo or Helen Mirren. It feels a bit too “old” for Kate, but my biggest problem is that she’s over-dressed for a party.

Barbra Streisand sort-of disses Glee and then backtracks

wenn5607330
When Barbra Streisand was asked if she’d ever be on that high school musical show, Glee, she was all “not if I can help it,” which is all sorts of awesome. Instead of letting her snarky comment stand on it’s own, she backtracked and said that she really meant that she was just so busy she couldn’t do the show but of course she’s flattered that Lea Michele copies her, etc. I know when I’m overwhelmed with work I bust out the bitchy comments that are meant in all innocence.

At the pre-Grammy MusiCares event Friday night, Streisand was asked if she would ever consider doing an episode of Glee and replied, “Not if I can help it. ” Needless to say, Gleeks went apoplectic (especially considering show star and professed Streisand fan Lea Michele performed a tribute to Streisand that night).

Now Streisand is doing a quick backpedal clarification…

“When asked if I would ever appear on Glee, I should have said, ‘You never know.’ It was wrong to say, “Not if I can help it,” Streisand said Sunday in a statement to E! News.

“What I meant was that I’ve been overwhelmed preparing for my performance on MusiCares, the Grammys, recording a new album, and starting a new movie. So I couldn’t take on any more work, and besides that, I wasn’t asked. I’m so honored that a lead character on Glee is so admiring of my work. In my speech at MusiCares, I thanked them ‘for exposing young people to music they might otherwise not hear today: Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Darren Criss…you’re all so gifted.’

[From E! Online]

That’s a bogus explanation. You don’t say “not if I can help it” if you’re busy, you say if if you don’t want to be associated with something. Barbra realizes that Ryan Murphy is a formidable opponent and that there are young kids on that show who are hardworking and talented, so she’s not going to let her comment stand like that. I guess I can’t blame her but I’d like to see Ryan Murphy try and get in a bitch fight with Babs. He would end up slinking away with his tail between his leg.

Let fading stars like Goop go on Glee and get their mack on with Matthew Morrison. Barbra doesn’t make guest appearances. She gets honored without showing up most of the time. Plus I think Glee jumped the shark with that zombie episode on Superbowl Sunday. I really do. They tried to parody themselves but just made us realize how pointless the show is most of the time.

Barbra Streisand and James Brolin are shown at that Musicares tribute to Babs on 2/11/11. Lea Michele and her pose hard are shown there too. Credit: WENN.com

Lea Michele’s SuperBowl performance: too sugary or just perfect?

lea2

Unlike CB, I noticed that Christina Aguilera botched the National Anthem, AND I also thought she looked like she was on something. Perhaps that was because Christina had to perform right after Lea Michele’s sober ass performed “America the Beautiful” so the side-by-side comparison was stark. Even though my default Lea Michele position is set on “I want to smack her” I have to admit that Lea was perfect. She was dressed appropriately, she had a backing choir of servicemen and servicewomen (that she out-sang) and she hit every note and knew all the words.

Since I tuned in for the opening and then promptly changed the channel, I was struck by one question: Why didn’t organizers ask Lea to sing the National Anthem? It’s not like Christina’s downward spiral isn’t obvious to everyone, and Lea has a much cleaner and family-friendly image than Xtina. Maybe the SuperBowl organizers just wanted a bit of controversy?

Lea Michele of Glee wants to thank Barbra Streisand

sag arrivals 17 310111
Lea Michele of Glee is a very talented singer. She also inspires all kinds of hate because she is a consummate diva-in-the-making. Her tears for Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch at the Golden Globes were way over-the-top, and many were glad when she lost to Laura Linney.

It’s no surprise that Lea is becoming a diva. She idolizes full-fledged diva Barbra Streisand, not only for her voice but for her nose.

I grew up in this typical New Jersey town where everyone looked the same. If you didn’t have a nose job, you were about to. Agents and casting directors told me to get one, but my mother said, “Barbra Streisand never did — and neither are you.”

When I met [Glee creator] Ryan Murphy, he asked if I’d ever seen Funny Girl. I said no. When I did see it, I cried my eyes out. Her character felt and looked so much like me! From then, I’ve been obsessed with Barbra. Her voice is perfect. She doesn’t need any tricks. What makes her a rare talent is she can just stand there and sing.

On Glee I’ve sung four of her songs. Every time I do “Funny Girl” I cry. Singing her music [at the MusiCares gala on Feb. 11] isn’t about getting to be in the same room as her or having her hear my voice. (Though I’m nervous — hopefully I won’t vomit!) It’s about me just saying thank you.

[People, print edition, February 27, 2011]

I don’t feel the same hate for Lea as others do, but I don’t watch Glee so I’m not subjected to her every week. Her comments do have an undercurrent of ego in them. She says Barbra’s character “felt and looked so much like me,” not “I felt and looked so much like Barbra.” Plus, I think she’s relishing the opportunity to sing in front of Barbra at MusiCares. Expect more drama tears.

Note by Celebitchy: Lea Michele was seated next to True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld at the SAG Awards, and it looks like Lea and Hailee made up. Hailee told a story a couple of weeks ago about Lea snubbing her on set when she asked for an autograph, and Lea subsequently blamed someone else for it.

Lea Michele’s plunging neckline for Cosmo: trashy or cute?

cos030111coverfinal

Lea Michele is the March cover girl of Cosmopolitan Magazine. God, can you believe we’re already seeing March covers? So many of the British fashion magazines have already released their March covers too. Weird. Anyway, thoughts on the cover shot: Lea looks nice, although I’ve noticed that she tends to be ever-so-slightly wonk-eyed in photos. But her face looks good – they might have even Photoshopped her face to look slightly fully, because the girl’s weight loss has been dramatic. As far as the plunging neckline… well, the girl wants to be a sex symbol. She wants us to think that she’s hot stuff. Do you think she is?

The Cosmo people also sent us this amazing quote from Lea’s cover profile, where Lea is describing what it was like auditioning before she was on Glee: “I knew I wasn’t going to end up on a Disney half-hour show. I mean, look at me! I don’t look like those girls. I just wanted to do a guest spot, like on Grey’s Anatomy.” Oh, Lea. Disney hires Jewish girls. Sometimes. Okay, she’s right, they almost always hire shiksas. But because it’s Lea, I think the comment is pointed, like she saying “I’m so not Miley Cyrus. I can actually SING AND ACT.” Don’t you think that’s what she’s saying?

In other IT’S ALL ABOUT LEA news, did you hear that she’s been invited to sing at the Super Bowl? Can you believe it? Whose bright idea was that? Who encourages her? Oh, the Super Bowl is on Fox? And Glee has a post-Super Bowl show airing right afterwards? Right. Anyway, Lea is going to be singing “America the Beautiful” during the pre-show, and then she will have to give the stage (sob) over to Christina Aguilera. I swear to God, the preshow is going to be a train wreck. You know it.

Lea Michele responds to story about snubbing Hailee Steinfeld: it wasn’t my fault

leahailee
Gossip Cop got a comment from Glee’s Lea Michele on the story we heard Monday from breakout True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld, 14, about how Lea snubbed her on set. Supposedly Hailee approached Lea to ask for an autograph and Lea whisked by, completely ignoring her and almost bringing her to tears. In her story, Hailee focused on her disappointment at not connecting with a star she admired. She didn’t seem to blame Lea or anything, but you could tell she was hurt. Lea has responded and it sounds like she doesn’t remember this incident and if it did happen, it was someone else’s fault. She did say she was sorry and feels bad about it though:

“I heard Hailee was upset and feel terrible. The ‘Glee’ schedule is so jam-packed that the PA probably pulled me so that I wouldn’t be late to set. I never meant to hurt her feelings. She’s an extraordinary talent and I look forward to meeting her one day.”

[From Gossip Cop]

Hailee did say that someone else took Lea away and told her it wasn’t a good time, so I guess Lea deserves a pass for it. Given all we’ve heard about what an insufferable person Lea is, it isn’t hard to believe the worst of her. I’m sure Hailee isn’t the first young fan to get ignored by Lea, and she won’t be the last. Now that Hailee has been on the receiving end of a celebrity snub, she’ll probably be much more approachable and friendly as she heads toward stardom. She’s moving on to much bigger things and won’t need to worry about connecting with stars once she’s in the audience at the Academy Awards.

Hailee Steinfeld is shown on 1/11/11 at the National Board of Review and on 12/14/10 at the True Grit premiere. Credit: Fame Pictures. Header images credit: WENN.com
