Brad Pitt is crushing on Berenice Bejo and Angelina Jolie is super-pissed

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Tabloids are still running analyses of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s awards show activities. Because they’ve got nothing else, I guess. Because everyone spent too much time talking about The Leg, and they forgot to make up stories about Brad Pitt getting it on with Melissa McCarthy (sidenote: wouldn’t you love that story?). Last week, we heard all about Brad Pitt’s “infatuation” with 21-year-old Jennifer Lawrence, whom he obviously wants to sleep with and Angelina Jolie obviously wants to devour Brad’s soul because of that. This Enquirer story is a lot like that, only they’ve changed up the actresses. Now Brad is infatuated with The Artist’s Berenice Bejo. You know, the actress who is married The Artist’s director, Michel Hazanavicius.

Brad Pitt flipped for fellow Oscar nominee Berenice Bejo – and Angelina Jolie is furious over his roving eye, say sources. Brad developed a huge crush on the Argentine-French star of ‘The Artist’ – and Angelina wants to make sure Brad doesn’t get to first base with her.

“brad can’t stop gushing about how talented and beautiful he thinks Berenice is,” divulged a close source. “He’s enchanted by her exotic beauty. Brad is determined to line up a project for the two of them to star in together. But Angie is fuming. She’s jealous of all the attention and praise Brad is lavishing on a woman she considers her competition, professionally and personally.”

Brad’s been gushing about Berenice ever since he and Angie went to the SAG awards in January. “Angie sat silently and steamed while Brad chatted with friends including George Clooney about what a knockout Berenice is.” Just a few days later at the Oscar luncheon, “Brad followed Berenice around like a puppy dog. He gave her his private cell-phone number and email and urged her to get in touch about working together.”

Bejo is 35 years old and married to now-Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius (‘The Artist’). Even though brad’s “latest discovery” is in a committed marriage, Angelina keeps driving home her fears to Brad “and even gave the cold shoulder to Berenice at the Oscars,” said the source. “Angelina told Brad there was no way he was going to work with Berenice and she has him on a very tight leash.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

Bejo is completely lovely, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many dudes spoke about her beauty with affection. That being said… it’s not on. Bejo seems completely in love with Michel. Brad seems fine with The Leg. Oh, and was Angelina seething at the SAG awards? Was that why she got bombed on under-the-table-vodka with Tilda Swinton? It all makes sense now!

You know how I just said Bejo is lovely? It’s true. But I don’t think she should be a redhead. Her skin tone and eye color demand a lush, rich brunette, I think. Also – she kind of looks like the kind of girl Clooney would go for, right? She’s got a whiff of Elisabetta/Stacy/Sarah, right?

Meryl Streep, Berenice Bejo & Shailene Woodley: who did long sleeves best?

Last night, Meryl Streep won her third career Oscar (after a record seventeen nominations) for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. Her acceptance speech was gracious and humorous as well: “When they called my name, I had this feeling I could hear half of America going, ‘Oh no! Oh come on, why her? Again!’” It was an unanticipated win since Viola Davis previously took both the Golden Globe and SAG honors this season, but it was nice to see Meryl be formally recognized as a threepeat winner.

As for Meryl’s dress, she wore a custom-made, gold lame Lanvin gown that was worlds ahead of her country-western shirtdress from the Golden Globes. Here, she’s impossible to pick apart, for the hair, jewelry, and makeup were all quite appropriate for the Oscars occasion.

Meryl also took a few moments to admire (and get busy with) the hot Oscar statue in the winners’ room:

Berenice Bejo, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Artist, chose a beaded, bottle-sea green Elie Saab dress. It looked … ice capadey. Her hair color was also a bottled orangey red as well, which is a change from the dark ash brown she sported at the Globes. Such an unnatural looking hair color didn’t do any favors for Berenice’s skin tone, but she did as well as possible in the makeup department.

Young Shailene Woodley (The Descendants), age 20, also chose long sleeves for her Oscar debut with a white Valentino couture gown and described her look as follows: “I love this dress because it’s so different and it’s so incredibly me. I love that it’s long sleeved and classy and simple.” Shailene also noted that she’s studying to be an herbalist and is “just super stoked to be here.” Elegant and classy indeed.

‘The Artist’ cleans up at The Cesars: will Jean Dujardin take the Best Actor Oscar?

Here’s a few photos of Jean Dujardin strolling through Paris ahead of Sunday’s Academy Awards. Naturally, he is nominated for Best Actor (for his role as silent actor George Valentin in The Artist), which is a category that still seems very much up for grabs. While George Clooney nabbed the Golden Globe in that category, Dujardin took the SAG award. Where does Brad Pitt fit into the race? Well, I hope Brad pulls a dark horse and wins (honestly, he seems overdue), but I have a feeling that Clooney will pull it off again. The Academy loves Clooney, but then again, they love Frenchmen too. So who knows?

Meanwhile, The Artist received six awards (including French film of the year and Best Musical Score) at Friday night’s Cesar Awards in Paris. This could be a sign of things to come at the Oscars, where The Artist could very well sweep most of the major categories. This little movie has won more than seventy awards worldwide, which makes it the most decorated French film in existence … all in celebration of a little silent film nostalgia. But don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed The Artist as well.

Berenice Bejo won the Cesar award for Best Acress and made off quite well in the fashion stakes as well. I did like her fun Globes look even more than this one, but Berenice has switched gears and is bringing the elegance now in a big way. She’s wearing an Azzendine Alaia haute couture gown that looked quite lovely on its own in a very simple way (even with the scalloping and ruffling of the complex fishtail skirt) and paired it with a matching coat for outside moments. It will be quite interesting to see what she wears for her Oscar debut.

Berenice also posed with Michel Hazanavicius, who won the Best Director award and also just happens to be her husband.

Unfortunately though, Jean did not win Best Actor at the Cesar awards. However, he did win all of the ladies that evening. If nothing else, I look forward to seeing his charming self on the red carpet on Sunday!

Tilda Swinton in black and white Yves Saint Laurent: perfect or too plain?

Tilda Swinton did her did her hair and makeup earlier this week for the NBR Awards, and while she looked lovely, she’d had enough of that muss and fuss, thank you very much. So Tilda (who was nominated for Best Actress in We Need To Talk About Kevin) decided to go back to her androgynous roots for the Critics Choice Awards. As such, she donned a Yves Saint Laurent three-piecer in black and white, which has the look of a tuxedo but the flow of a typical Tilda outfit. She also chose YSL platform heels to match and accessorized with a Pomellato opal ring and very little makeup. This outfit is classic Tilda, and I love it.

Jessica Chastain (nominated for Best Supporting Actress in The Help) seriously overdid the carnation pink on the red carpet last night. This was a Balenciaga column dress that looked like a too-sweet version of an Angelina sack dress. Further, it’s waaay too pink, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing with redheads, but this is just too much, especially when coupled with a bit of a Croydon facelift hairstyle. The blue sapphire earrings seemed really “off” too. Obviously, the actress who favors busted gift wrap is in dire need of a new stylist.

Looking at Jessica’s outfit was fairly painful, so I’m relieved to move on to Berenice Bejo, a.k.a., “The Chick from The Artist,” who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress as well. She went for a flapper look with a short, beaded blue Elle Saab dress and a (mostly) matching Edie Parker clutch along with Jimmy Choo sandals. The v-neck works for her and the slightly messy hair compliments the polished makeup. Most of all, those earrings just slay me. Berenice was one of the best dressed last night, which made for a stunning awards show-oriented, red carpet debut in America. She might not win the acting awards this season, but she’s going great in the fashion race.
