Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper & the dudes of the NBRs: who would you rather?

I already covered the ladies of the National Board of Review Awards (go here), so this is the post for the gentlemen. The other day, CB and Bedhead and I were discussing how exciting or not-exciting this year’s awards coverage would be, and I lamented the fact that I didn’t have one big crush to follow throughout the awards season this time around. Last year I had Michael Fassbender, who got a lot of big nominations (except for an Oscar nomination, BOO). It was such a joy to follow Fassy’s awards show path. But who am I following this year? No one really. I’m excited for Anne Hathaway (mostly because of the fashion), but I’m not crazy for any of the dudes who are going to be everywhere this awards season. I like Hugh Jackman. I think Eddie Redmayne is cute. I love Ewan McGregor, but he’ll probably only get to the Golden Globes & the BAFTAs. I miss Fassy.

Anyway, I was just thinking about that as I went through these “hot guys” at the NBRs. I’m pretty much over Ben Affleck, although he did look nice last night, and I think he works a beard really well.

Bradley Cooper looks… um… not well. What’s going on with him? He wants an Oscar nomination so, so much, but surely that desire should ensure that he actually makes an effort with his appearance? Dear B-Coop: SHAVE. And put some product in your hair, because you look like a jackass.

Bradley should be taking his cues from Eddie Redmayne. Eddie is youngish (31), he’s a hardworking actor and sometimes model, and he knows how to dress. He always looks pulled together and handsome. He’s always clean-shaven and beautifully turned out. I love his pocket square.

Daniel Craig, looking kind of grumpy and amused. I would hit it.

But my new favorite is Jason Clarke!! He was in Lawless and he’s in Zero Dark Thirty, and he has that scary-eerie-sexy vibe that I sort of like. I don’t even mind his wonky hairline, honestly. He’s HOT.

Bradley Cooper & Zoe Saldana allegedly broke up right before the holidays

Well, this is a somewhat surprising development. Just last week, the tabloids were on the “This Beard Will Last 4 Eva” train, claiming that Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana had gotten secretly engaged. Now Page Six says that far from a secret engagement, they’ve actually secretly broken up. Zoe and Bradley have always been a somewhat strange couple (to me), and I always believed that Zoe dumped her fiancé to get with Bradley, and that they might have had a thing while she was still engaged. They’ve also done this get-together-then-breakup-then-get-back-together thing a few other times. So is this finally the end?

“Avatar” star Zoe Saldana and “Sexiest Man Alive” Bradley Cooper have broken up again, Page Six has exclusively learned. We’re told that the Queens-raised beauty and “The Hangover” star Cooper split up before the holidays, which they had planned to spend together.

Saldana, 34, and Cooper, 37, originally dated for three months after filming “The Words” together and split in March last year, but they reconciled in September.

A source told us, “Zoe had planned to spend the holidays with Bradley and his family in Europe. They all were going to Paris, but things didn’t work out between them. Zoe spent New Year’s Eve with friends in Miami.”

Things are believed to have fizzled out between the pair while Cooper has been busy promoting his movie “Silver Linings Playbook,” which co-stars Jennifer Lawrence and is getting serious awards buzz. Handsome Cooper, who was voted People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” last year before the honor was bestowed on Channing Tatum, is currently believed to be in Prague shooting a commercial.

Meanwhile Saldana, who has been shooting “Star Trek” and “Blood Ties” with Mila Kunis, celebrated the countdown to 2013 in South Beach. She enjoyed a private dinner with family and friends at Catch Miami, before counting down the new year poolside at the James Royal Palm on Collins Avenue. Saldana was later seen dancing with friends to music from female DJ duo Nervo.

A witness added, “If Zoe was upset over the split with Bradley, she didn’t show it.”

Saldana, who split from fiancé and love of 10 years Keith Britton in November 2011, was joined by supermodel Karolina Kurkova, the Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, along with their partners Adrienne Bosh and Gabrielle Union. Reps for both Cooper and Saldana didn’t get back to us last night.

[From Page Six]

This seems to be Bradley’s M.O. – his breakup with Renee Zellweger felt like this too, like it came out of nowhere, and she was making plans for the future while he made a quick exit. Could it be that the “gay rumors” about Bradley are BS and that in real life, he’s just kind of douche about women? Hunh. Also weird: Bradley is probably going to get an Oscar nomination this year for Silver Linings Playbook, and now he’s not going to have an official girlfriend for his Oscar campaign! Call this The Anti-Clooney Move.

Did Bradley Cooper & Zoe Saldana get secretly engaged a few weeks ago?

Bradley Cooper

Here’s a few uneventful photos of Bradley Cooper all by his lonesome at the Silver Linings Playbook in Berlin last week. Poor guy can’t even work up his usual blazingly white, serial-killer smile for the cameras. Perhaps Bradley had just suffered through an argument with producer Harvey Weinstein, who was upset that Jennifer Lawrence was not in attendance because somebody — anybody — needed to wear some damn Marchesa for this event. Or perhaps Bradley was missing his lady (and The Words co-star), Zoe Saldana, far too much for, uh, words?

Bradley Cooper

If the tabloids have their way, then a lack of Zoe was precisely the reason Bradley looked down in the dumps. You know, I’ve never understood them as a couple at all. They don’t really look happy together, and I (like many of you) have just assumed that this was merely a convenient showbiz romance that would run its course the next time Bradley needed to promote a new romantic comedy with a mutually single co-star (not Jennifer Lawrence, who is blessedly taken). But wait! The Enquirer is running with a story that says not only are Bradley and Zoe alive and well together, but they’ve also just become newly engaged. This, to quote Anthony Michael Hall in Sixteen Candles, is getting good:

Bradley Cooper Zoe Saldana

The second time’s a charm for Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana — friends say the reunited couple are back on, better than ever and planning to tie the knot!

“Bradley is telling friends he’s not going to let Zoe slip away this time,” said a close source. “Having lost her once, Bradley is readly to seal the deal on the relationship.

The couple first met on the set of the romantic drama The Words after 37-year-old Bradley’s high-profile romances with Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston fizzled. They dated for three months before parting ways in March 2012. But by September, the two had reunited, and Bradley proposed to Zoe, 34, a few weeks ago — and she said yes! Bradley’s now telling pals he’s hoping the wedding bells will ring in late spring or early summer in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Though the Enquirer reported in May 2012 that Bradley’s mom was wrecking her son’s love life with her medding, the source says she’s stopped butting in — and started helping. It turns out she’s the one who actually convinced Bradley to propose! “Gloria world overtime to make it clear to Zoe that Bradley is a changed man and ready to commit,” maintained the source.

“Gloria has been pestering Bradley that she’s desperate to be a grandmother. Zoe won major brownie points with Gloria when she promised that she’d start trying to get pregnant just as soon as Bradley proposed. That set the wheels in motion.”

Playing cupid isn’t the extent of Gloria’s involvement — Bradley’s been so busy lately he also sent her out shopping for the engagement ring, say sources.

“Now Gloria and Zoe are bonding over planning the ceremony,” added the source. “Zoe can’t wait to be Bradley’s bride.”

[From Enquirer, print edition, January 7, 2012]

Of course, we are free to question the motivations at hand with Bradley’s camp allegedly leaking this engagement story. Although I do laugh at the idea of his past “romances” with Jennifer Lopez (they went on one date together ) and Jennifer Aniston (she she allegedly pursued him) being a relevant part of this tale, but whatever. Is this a genuine romance and a case of true love forever, or is Bradley merely campaigning for the Best Lead Actor Oscar in his own special way?

Bradley Cooper is freaking out over hair loss, hired own on-set stylist to hide it

Bradley Cooper

I’m always up for a new story about friendly neighborhood serial killer Bradley Cooper, and while this one isn’t as entertaining as the one where he refused to wear deodorant, it’s still mildly amusing because I like talking about hair.

In this case, Bradley is allegedly losing his sh-t over losing his hair, which he believes will cause him to lose his (contrived) appeal with da ladies that resulted in him being inexplicably named People’s 2011 Sexiest Man Alive. Apparently, Bradley is so upset and paranoid over this normal process of aging that he’s hired his own hairstylist on the set of Hangover III. He supposedly believes that using one of the production’s stylists would mean that everyone would find out about his hair loss. This sounds a little extreme, right? Lots and lots of A-list actors have merely thrown a rug on it while filming, and no one bats an eye unless it’s a case of looking as bad as Sean Penn’s rug. Oh well, here’s the story from the Enquirer:

Bradley Cooper

Fomer Sexiest Man Alive Bradley Cooper has demanded that his personal hairstylist keep a lid on rumors about his receding hairline. “He brought in a special stylist while he films The Hangover Part III and is paying boucoup bucks for her to sign a confidentiality clause,” says a source.

The actor is receiving rave reviews for his role in Silver Linings Playbook, but Bradley is too focused on his treses to enjoy his success. “He comes from a long line of bald guys and has used Propecia for year,” the source tattles to Star. “Brad’s thrown himself into work and is desperate for an Oscar nod in February, but he’s paranoid about going bald. He thinks it could kill his leading-man status.”

Worried that his hair is a major part of his sex appeal, the insider reveals, Bradley has been “getting a cutting-edge hair-loss treatment and taking a battery of natural supplements — and he’s only washing his hair every three days, with expensive organic shampoos.” Remember, Bradley: it’s the clothes that make the man, not the hair.

[From Star, December 24, 2012]

You know, I’d feel bad for Bradley (and most dudes in general) for freaking out about losing his hair, but I just can’t muster up the sympathy. After all, women have to worry about so many dreadful things (wrinkles, hot flashes, drooping boobs, and so on) in relation to aging, and men can easily take the option of looking “distinguished” like “silver foxes” in their old age. It’s not fair, is it? Bradley could always just shave it all off because bald dudes can be really hot too. Never mind — he’d probably just look like a bald serial killer.

Jennifer Lawrence in little black Dior at ‘Silver Linings’ premiere: hot or meh?

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence looked really polished on the red carpet of last night’s Los Angeles screening of Silver Linings Playbook, and look, you guys, no Marchesa! I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’ve been dreading producer Harvey Weinstein’s heavy-handed ways and was almost virtually certain that this premiere would feature poor JLaw in some sky-blue, ice-capadey nightmare resembling that colored toilet paper that was so popular in the 1970s before it was banned for health reasons due to sheer common sense.

However, Jennifer looks great here. She’s made the most of her status as the latest face of Dior by going with this sexy, little black coat dress. Jennifer accessorized with an embroidered belt, moderate cleavage, and muscular long legs. Her makeup is quite dramatic (love those smoky eyes) and appropriate for the overall look, and while I’m not a huge fan of the “unfinished” aspect of her pulled-back hair (it’s a bit too bumpy), I’ll take this over awful winged bangs or hair extensions any day of the year. Go JLaw!

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Bradley Cooper looked the same as he always does (maybe a little less serial killer-esque) in this silver suit. I’ve just realized that his hair is really bothersome to me. He looks so twitchy too. Why is he a thing in Hollywood?

Jennifer Lawrence Bradley Cooper

Hey look, it’s Chris Tucker. Remember him? I have to admit I kind of missed this guy, so I’m glad he’s in this movie too.

Chris Tucker

Dermot Mulroney was there too, but I’m not sure why! This guy is so adorable and sexy, and he’s been in my state filming August: Osage County (with George Clooney). I keep secretly hoping that, for no reason at all, Dermot will show up at my gym and start sweating profusedly. Hey, a girl can dream.

Bradley Cooper doesn’t like deodorant, showers 3X daily instead: weird?

Bradley Cooper

The last time Bradley Cooper was interviewed by Esquire, it didn’t turn out so well at all. In fact, it was a walking disaster accessorized by a hilarious photoshoot of Bradley walking down sidewalks while holding shopping bags and flanked by fawning cougars. One of them was grabbing his ear, and another one was sticking her hand down his pants. It was pretty ridiculous, but that was nothing compared to the disastrous interview, in which journo Lisa Taddeo seemed to have mistaken Bradley for her ex-boyfriend and attributed all sorts of negative qualities to him simply because he reminded of the dude who got away. Taddeo didn’t even bother preparing questions for him and simply proceeded to draw existentialist conclusions about his inner nature based on … the way he stared out a window.

Now Bradley has returned for a feature in the the December issue of the men’s magazine, and I think his people were like, “You gotta get us a different interviewer this time, and let’s play it straight. Questions and answers.” The result is journalist Scott Raab and a very dry discussion between himself and Bradley about basic, career-oriented stuff. It’s kind of dull product, but at least Esquire is playing fair this time around, and the photoshoot is still hilarious because — what the hell — Bradley’s hair looks like John Stamos in “Full House” in some of these shots. Here are some excerpts:

Bradley Cooper

Has he paid his dues? “No. I mean, it depends on how you define ‘dues.’ I worked through grad school, and I got this job hosting Treks [in a Wild World], which was incredible. I went to Croatia, the Kornati Islands. They wanted a guy with experience with extreme travel but who has extreme sensibilities. I had never even camped before.”

He just might stink: “Yeah, I don’t use deodorant really anymore. I do take a lot of showers, so maybe that helps. In the morning and then at night. And after I work out, I’ll take a shower. So maybe three a day.”

On his scandalous past: “I got arrested when I was 15. Just underage drinking. My mom always said, ‘Just call me, I wanna know where you are.’ We always had good lines of communication, me and my parents.”

On making millions: “It’s afforded me the ability to do the five movies I did between Hangover II and Hangover III. And you can solve people’s problems. To be able to say to someone, ‘You know what? I’m gonna buy your house for you. You don’t have to worry about the mortgage anymore.’”

He loves motorcycles: “I love the focus aspect of it. And you get everywhere fast because you can split lanes in California. And in Hollywood, there’s so much paparazzi, it’s just logistically phenomenal. Because you’re anonymous. You have a helmet on your head.”

What happened to The Words?: Oh, I don’t know. It’s a really sweet movie, and for a first outing, for a guy who’s never directed a movie, it’s incredible. And the acting’s good, it was the best thing I think I’d done.

On the failure of The A-Team: “I loved that experience. It just didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to exactly. It did [disappoint]. Otherwise we would’ve made another one. But it was a great experience. And another chance to look under the hood of a director and see how he works. I learned so much from Joe Carnahan.”

[From Esquire]

Gross. Personally, I don’t get the “no deodorant” thing. I do shower daily, but I can’t shower more than once per day or my skin dries out. Deodorant just really seems like a must though, you know? Especially at the gym. I wonder if he’s worried about the chemicals in deodorant or something, but there’s honestly so much semi-toxic crap that we come into contact with on a daily basis that it’s hard to get worked up over something as insignificant as deodorant. Just use it, dude. Now I’m going to be thinking of Bradley Cooper as the “Friendly Neighborhood Serial Killer Who Stinks.” At least you’d smell him coming.

Jennifer Lawrence on gaining weight for ‘Silver Linings’: ‘I was like, Hell, yeah!’

Jennifer Lawrence

These are some stills of Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley “Milquetoast” Cooper in David O. Russell’s upcoming movieSilver Linings Playbook, which is expanding to a nationwide wide release on November 21. As such, we will probably soon be experiencing no shortage of photo ops featuring Bradley Cooper as your friendly neighborhood serial killer with some random chick on his arm. People magazine already got in on the fun last week with a silly story about his “Fun Friday Night” with Rashida Jones, but it turned out that the two were merely hanging out at the same West Hollywood bar across the room from each other. For his part, Bradley was merely sitting at a table with three other dudes. Poor guy can’t catch a break in the gossip pages even though he obviously is no stranger to a staged romance, right?

For the moment though, we’ve got another interview with Jennifer Lawrence to promote Silver Linings, and of course, she’s talking about her weight again. But it’s different this time, I promise! This time, she’s not talking about her normal” figure (as lovely as it is), how Hollywood considers her overweight, and how she’ll never starve herself for a part. Instead, Jennifer discusses her rabid willingness to gain weight to play the role of Tiffany, but I imagine she only gained a few pounds because she looks much the same here as always, right? Here are some excerpts from the NY Times:

Jennifer Lawrence

On her inevitable future demise: Her lawyers are having her draft a will because, she explained, “I’m rich now.”

She shops at Walmart for Rob Schneider movies? “I like making movies, but that doesn’t mean I want to watch a black-and-white, freaking boring” — here she amped up the sarcasm with an unprintable word — “silent movie.”

She’s terrible at sarcasm: “That’s, like, my No. 1 thing that I have to work on.”

Dancing is not her strong point: “When I dance, I look like I’m a dad at a prom. I never grasped my limbs. Ever since puberty I’ve just kind of felt like we don’t understand each other.” She was asked by Mr. Russell to gain weight for the part. “I was like, ‘Hell, yeah!’ That never happens in a movie.”

She hates her voice: She credited Mr. Russell with helping her find herself in Tiffany’s fluctuating persona. “David is inside every one of these characters.” He even persuaded her to speak in a lower register — a feat because she doesn’t like her naturally deep voice. “I think I sound like a hermit. A deep, chain-smoking hermit.”

On her Hunger Games fame: “It gets overwhelming, where I’ll cry in my car, but not to the point where I don’t want to do what I’m doing. It’s also something that I’m proud of. Like, I don’t get annoyed when the guy at the bar says, ‘May the odds be ever in your favor.’”

She’s never had an acting coach: “That’s how I can go about life free as an idiot: because I have no idea what I’m doing,” she said, deadpan.

On her Oscar nomination at age 20: “It was so much, so fast. I was like: I just want to feel like it happened. I feel like I’m busy. I feel like I’m tired, and tired of talking about myself, which is very odd. It’s such a PMS type of feeling, when something is so good that you’re sad that you can’t fully take it in and enjoy it.” But after the ceremony, “I could enjoy it,” she said, “absorb it and sign my name ‘Academy Award Nominee Jennifer Lawrence’ on everything.”

[From NY Times]

I have to admit that I’m actually looking forward to seeing Jennifer put her crotch in Bradley Cooper’s face while dancing in Silver Linings. Even though I’m not entirely convinced with BCoop as a lead, the theatrical and teaser trailers for the movie do look promising, so I’ll give it a shot.

The interview also makes mention about how Jennifer’s Tiffany character was originally intended to be Goth, but Harvey Weinstein lost his sh-t after watching screen tests of JLaw in dyed black hair, Goth makeup, and plaid, punky dresses. Isn’t it amusing that Harvey Weinstein got all freaked out at JLaw in some Gothy makeup, but he doesn’t seem to balk at wife Georgina Chapman’s gawd-awful Marchesa creations? The things that dudes will put up with to get laid … and I just grossed myself out.

Bradley Cooper on being named ‘sexiest’: thought it was a joke, almost said no

The 2012 Sexiest Man Alive hasn’t been officially named yet, although everyone expects it to be the very worthy Channing Tatum. Those of us with a vested interest in these things are sort of biding our time until the much-derided 2011 winner, Bradley Cooper, ends his reign of mediocrity. It turns out that Cooper might share our sentiment about how unworthy he is. In a new interview with Nightline, airing tonight, Cooper said that he thought his co-star Dax Shepard was playing a joke on him when he first heard the news. He also considered turning down People’s offer, but decided to go with it.

This is all so insane.

I remember when I got the call, I was in the trailer we were in between shots. I really did think it was a joke… I thought Dax Shepard did it. I was certain.

They were like ‘No, it’s real’ and I thought ‘people aren’t going to like that.’ I thought ‘this isn’t a good thing.’

I said ‘Do I have to do it? Can I say no?’ They’re like ‘yeah, you could, but be thankful.’

On being picketed by Ryan Gosling fans
It was brutal [laughs] and yeah there was some cheer they made, and oh my God.

I don’t know what it is about Bradley Cooper lately, but I’m really warning up to him. He’s coming onto his own, and he’s coming across really well. He’s not all stiff and guarded like he was when he first hit the scene.

I still remember his totally boring, milquetoast People video celebrating his Sexiest win. He seemed so out of it! I just rewatched it. It makes a lot of sense now when I realize how ambivalent he was about it.

Cooper is promoting Silver Linings Playbook, in which he plays a bipolar guy who falls in love with Jennifer Lawrence’s misfit character. It’s directed and written by David O. Russell (The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees) and it actually looks really good. In another recent interview, with The Wall St. Journal, Cooper was very gracious when asked his roles and playing offbeat characters. He said “I don’t think I realized how much that ‘sexy man’ title follows you. Any interview I do, it’s always brought up. Now that I’m doing ‘Silver Linings,’ I’ve heard people say, “This is him trying to show that he’s a serious actor.” But I’m as proud of Phil in ‘The Hangover’ as I am of Pat Solatano. This role was very demanding, but I don’t feel like I’m taking it more seriously than anything else I’ve done. So there has never been a conscious decision to try to do more serious roles.” The rest of the interview is just as good and interesting. Cooper is letting us know who he is, and I’m starting to really like him. Don’t shoot me, but maybe the folks at People just saw his potential before we did.

Ok, after I wrote all that I saw these photos of Cooper looking rough last week at the AFI film fest. He looks tired and he needs a haircut and a shave. That scruff is not working for him. He looks like Shaggy on Scooby Doo! He’s probably just as high as Shaggy usually is too.

Dita Von Teese tried to get with Bradley Cooper, but he wasn’t into it…?

Back in the spring of this year, I discovered that Dita Von Teese had split up with her hottie hot French count boyfriend, Count French Dong or whatever. The split made me sad, because that dude was GORGE and I miss seeing photos of him and daydreaming about how hot the sex is between he and Dita. Almost as soon as Dita was a single girl, she instantly found a new boyfriend in Englishman Theo Hutchcraft, lead singer of The Hurts. That was April/May of this year. Then, just a few weeks ago, Dita was partying with Robert Pattinson, and I began to hope and pray that she was done with Theo and that she now had her eye on someone decidedly sparklier. But I was not expecting this… Dita Von Teese trying to get with (gasp) Bradley Cooper? Ew. Downgrade, Dita.

Dita Von Teese has claimed she is enjoying the single life, but she recently got blanked when she tried to chat-up Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper in a Los Angeles restaurant, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The star pair found themselves in trendy hotspot — Italian eaterie Farfalla in Los Feliz — at the same time when an eyewitness spied Dita, 40, licking her lips in the general direction of The Hangover star.

However, the burlesque dancer’s attempts at inviting Bradley, 37, over to her table floundered after she tried to send a drink his way. He refused her offer and left the restaurant without even saying goodbye! (In September, Cooper revealed he’s been sober for 8 years.)

“Bradley completely snubbed Dita when she made a beeline for him,” an onlooker told RadarOnline.com. “She was desperate to get his attention, so she asked the waitress to go over to his table and ask him what he wanted to drink. Bradley told the waitress he’s on a health kick at the moment and said he was fine.

“After that, Dita was looking over at him, fluttering her eyelids and wanted him to join her and her friend. But Bradley just wasn’t that into her, he ignored her eye contact and just looked down at his phone. He left before she did and didn’t even acknowledge her on the way out of the restaurant. She looked gutted. It really was an awkward moment for Dita, I’m sure a lot of men wouldn’t turn her down,” the source concluded.

Dita isn’t the only woman smitten with Bradley at the moment. His ex-girlfriend Zoe Saldana was seen leaving the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood arm-in-arm with the A-Team actor on September 2, sparking rumors they were back together.

And as RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, it was Bradley’s mom, Gloria who has been behind the two getting back together.

“It was Gloria who told Bradley to date Zoe again – she loves Zoe,” a source revealed. “Bradley and Zoe have been seeing a lot of each other recently; they were promoting their new movie The Words and their paths crossed a few times at press junkets and premieres.

“That ignited some feelings in Bradley, who told Gloria that he was seeing a lot of Zoe and they were getting on really well. Gloria then told Bradley how she felt about Zoe and said to him how she was his first girlfriend since Renee that she truly liked. When Bradley first dated Zoe, he would always invite his mom everywhere with them – whether it be going for lunch, dinner or even running errands. Gloria told Bradley he should win her back because there were obviously still feelings there, and he did just what she said,” the source divulged.

[From Radar]

Well, I’m choosing to be elated. One, this report identifies Dita as “single” which is one important step to getting her with Robert Pattinson. Two, Bradley Cooper is obviously an idiot. I’m sorry. But Emu-Boy disrespecting Dita Von Teese? What, out of loyalty to his “on-again” girlfriend Zoe Saldana? I pretty much think that Bradley and Zoe only got back together to promote that sad little movie, The Words. Also: Bradley Cooper? Him? Really, Dita?

Maybe Dita just wanted something small to make herself feel better. Dita, girl, we need a plan. The How To Win Sparkles Plan. Because Dita needs some sparkle in her life, and Rob desperately needs some Dita in his life.

Bradley Cooper on JLaw’s dancing: “God bless her, she put that crotch in my face”

Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper will haunt your nightmares from the cover of the fall issue of M magazine, which is making its grand return as a quarterly Conde Nast rag since meeting its (first?) untimely end in the 1990s. The magazine is aiming for a target audience of men with a household income of $200,000 and its debut issue features an article called “I Married a Billionaire.” With that sort of demographic, I have to wonder why they’re running with a cover that features Bradley Cooper as your Friendly Neighborhood Serial Killer. Then the editorial spread features him, you know, standing at a urinal and presumably taking a leak. How charming.

Bradley Cooper

Bradley is still promoting his turn in the upcoming Silver Linings Playbook alongside Jennifer Lawrence. Both of them play damaged individuals (with requisite psychiatric issues) who find some recovery in a friendship with a capital “F.” I still think that BCoop is incapable of being anything other than way too earnest in this role. Of course, Harvey Weinstein really wants this movie to score a third consecutive Best Picture victory for the Weinstein Co., and who knows if that will happen. It did score the People’s Choice Award at TIFF and has some great reviews heading into Oscar movie season. Also, Bradley and Jennifer dance, and he teased her a lot in an MTV interview:

The quirky love story between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in David O. Russell’s next film, Silver Linings Playbook, focuses on the sometimes funny, always heartfelt tale of two people looking for something. Eventually, they find each other, and ballroom dancing.

It seems that dancing got very intimate for the twosome. When MTV News asked just how long Cooper spent up close and personal with Lawrence’s crotch, he replied, “We did it like three times a week for like a month. God bless her, she put that crotch in my face. No, she worked so hard on that dance honestly. I didn’t have the ability to because of the characters in the movie … And she rehearsed and killed it.”

Lawrence, however, was a bit more modest when it came to the enthusiasm around her skills on the dance floor. “I am the worst dancer ever,” Lawrence said. “No, I was supposed to suck after I already danced and sucked. It kind of explains why I move my body like a baby colt.”

[From MTV]

It’s hard to believe that JLaw is terrible at anything, even dancing, but she must have a weakness. Then again, I’m gathering that she was supposed to suck at dancing in this movie, which may make the concept far too complicated for me to understand. What I do contemplate though, is whether or not Bradley got back with Zoe Saldana not only to promote The Words (as Kaiser suggested) but also to throw off any suggestion that he and JLaw really did grow too close while filming this movie in very close quarters. After all, nearly every Bradley Cooper movie (aside from those Hangover flicks) culminates in a rumored (or possibly staged) romance with a co-star. Honestly, I don’t know or care whether Bradley is into chicks or dudes or both, but I do think he has a high priority at this moment in time for concentrating on his career. Whether or not that strategy includes PR-friendly romances is still technically (I guess) up for debate.

Incidentally, here’s the new Silver Linings theatrical trailer, which looks a lot better than the first trailer. Instead of looking like a romcom masquerading as tragiccomedy, this looks like a pretty good, heartwarming film. Even with milquetoast Bradley Cooper in the lead, I will probably give this one a whirl.
