Kendall Jenner: ‘I just want to be left alone and be a normal kid for like five minutes’

Kendall Jenner, the second youngest Kardashian-Jenner, is profiled in the upcoming edition of Cosmo, the one with Rachel Bilson on the cover and her “how to be a great girlfriend” tips. Kendall is all of 17, and she sees the writing on the wall. She knows the future entails a life in the family business and packaging and selling her private life. Although she’s been working as a model she doesn’t want to live in a glass box for the rest of her life, and she’s said as much. While her younger sister, Kylie, is all about being a Kardashian/Jenner, Kendall has said in prior interviews that she just wants to be “normal” and doesn’t have any desire to be a “Kardashian.” She says more of the same here, and I can’t help but feel like it’s a message to her horrible mom, one that will be brushed off and ignored:

The worst part of being in the Jenner/Kardashian clan is: “The show [Keeping up With the Kardashians] brought us everything we have, and I realize that, but sometimes I just want to be left alone and be a normal kid for like five minutes. That’s tough when the paparazzi are chasing you.”

My next move is: “Not a reality-show spin-off. That’s not happening. Modeling is my number one priority – one hundred percent.”

When I need advice about guys, I go to: “Lamar [Khloe’s husband]. He is really good at giving guy advice. He always tells me to know my worth and never accept less than I deserve.”

[From Cosmopolitan]

This makes me wonder if Kris was pushing for a spin-off for Kendall and Kylie and Kendall was all “No”. Of course the show brought them “everything they have,” but I get the sense that Kendall thinks things would have been fine if they lived off the money they had. It’s not like they were broke before they got famous. Kim would have had some sort of career post being Paris Hilton’s sidekick and their dad is a famous ex-Olympian, he could have made a nice living off the lecture circuit. Kendall is probably wondering “What if” and imagining what it would be like to be outside the little bubble she lives in. “Normalcy” seems overrated to the rest of us, but while we’re looking in on some of those celebrities and wanting what they have, they’re wanting out.

Kendall Jenner: ‘Calling someone skinny is the same as calling someone fat’

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner covers Harper’s Bazaar Arabia at the relatively tender age of 17 years. What’s interesting is that even though her name initially resulted in Kendall’s first modelling jobs a few years ago, she’s a fairly decent model, but the Kardashian-Jenner stigma quite nearly prevents anyone from taking her seriously, which is unfortunate.

The editorial is rather lovely even if the cover (which is featured at the end of this post) isn’t so great because poor Kendall is wearing an ugly black-and-white striped maxi dress from Marc Jacobs. I especially like the shots where she’s sporting mussed up hair and smoky eyes, and the black Gucci gown is probably my favorite outfit of the entire spread. You may notice that Kendall’s long, lean legs appear prominently in this photoshoot, and Kendall discusses in this interview how tough it is to be thin. This seems odd coming from a model, right?

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner

Don’t call her “skinny”: “I’m constantly criticised for being too skinny. I’m trying to gain weight but my body won’t let it happen. What people don’t understand is that calling someone too skinny is the same as calling someone too fat, it’s not a nice feeling.”

She’s not just a Kardashian/Jenner: “I’m trying my best with what I want to do, which is modeling. I think I’m on my own career path and I don’t really care what other people have to say about me being in the spotlight of my sisters. I’m just doing my own thing.”

[From Harper's Bazaar Arabia]

Hmm. The topic of weight perception is quite a touchy subject, and I have noticed that (quite frequently) whenever we discuss models who have curvy figures in a positive light (such as Kate Upton or Ralph Lauren’s first plus-sized model, Robin Lawley), there’s an undercurrent in the comments from women who take offense at the discussion of how refreshing it is to see models who are not stick thin. Yes, I get that nobody should be passing negative judgment on anyone else’s body, but I have never understood why praising curvy figures is an insult to non-curvy ones.

I come from a complicated perspective on the matter or weight issues and body image. At different points in my life, I have been called both too fat and too skinny, and I can say that (from my perspective) it hurt me a lot more to be called fat. Sure, I was irritated and annoyed to be called skinny, but it never hurt my feelings, and that might be because I’m not naturally skinny. I basically had to stop eating to get there, so my outlook on the matter is definitely warped, and now I simply hit the gym a lot and eat to match. I understand that some of you have expressed (like Kendall) how upsetting it is to be called skinny, and I hope you’ll explain the matter further to me at some point in the future if not today.

Kris Jenner on allegations that she sexualizes Kylie & Kendall: ‘Ridiculous’

Kris Jenner

The longer the Kardashian Kurse pervades our television and the internet, the more I realize that Kris Jenner is the one who’s really making out like a bandit. Moreso than even Kim, who suffers for her “art” by getting fake married and then acting all surprised and stressed that her fake husband is fighting back. Consider though that Kris gets 10% of every dollar that her daughters earn, and she’s got five of them who are bringing in money now. Oh, and she probably gets a little bit of change from her only son (that we know of), “sock designer” Rob, and if what some of you commented is true — that he might be angling for a weight-loss contract — well, that’s just more money for Kris.

At the moment, however, Kris is still reeling from divorce rumors and allegations of child abuse. Now she’s talking to Us Weekly about how offended she is over being accused of sexualizing her youngest girls, Kyle (15) and Kendall (17). Here’s are some excerpts from the interview:

Kris Jenner

It’s hard being a manager and a mom: “I feel guilty all the time because I can’t be everywhere at once. I feel like I want to be there for everybody, whoever needs me, I just worry about them all. My girls are not pansies, but I think everyone needs direction. One moment I’m talking to Khloe as her mom. Suddenly, she’ll turn around and [say]… ‘I’m your client and you didn’t do this.’”

The girls love having her as a manager: “My family could have said, ‘Are you out of your mind?’ But everyone was excited!”

Has she sexualized Kendall (17) and Kylie(15)? “Ridiculous.”

[From Us Weekly]

This week’s InTouch (via Jezebel) also has word from an insider that Kris has turned the vast majority of her attentions to her younger daughters and, “She is going to work them for every penny,” which is why she allowed them to quit school last year.

I don’t know about how much she “sexualizes” these two girls on television, but Kris certainly doesn’t mind Kendall’s underage bikini shoots from the past two years. Also, she let Kendall and Kylie start dating from age 13. So yeah, Kris probably totally sexualizes them. I’m so glad that she’s not my mom.

Kris Jenner’s husband Bruce plans to move out, take their youngest daughters

We’ve heard rumors for months that Kris and Bruce Jenner are on the rocks. Last month, The Enquirer reported that Bruce was consulting divorce lawyers, but that it was more like informal chats he was having with his golfing buddies who also happened to be lawyers. Bruce was said to be taking stock of the family empire and discussing custody of his two youngest daughters, Kylie, 15, and Kendall, 17. Given how insufferable Kris is, and how she bragged during her book tour about cheating on her first husband, those rumors seemed pretty plausible. Kris and Bruce’s relationship doesn’t seem solid to say the least. Well now those stories are coming to a head, with Star Magazine [via Radar] claiming in their latest issue that Bruce is moving out of the family manse and plans to take Kylie and Kendall with him. I guess he’s finally taking a stand over the fact that his daughters are being pushed into show business like their older sisters. (Although they seem like they’re fine with that.)

“Everything is great, we feel very blessed as a family,” the momager recently said in response to rumors that divorce was looming. However, according to Star, Bruce is currently in the process of moving himself and their two youngest daughters, Kylie, 15, and Kendall, 17, out of the family home.

“Kylie and Kendall broke down crying to Bruce,” an insider close to the family told Star magazine — going on to claim that there’s tension in the family over fears that Kris has been putting the teenage girls’ burgeoning careers ahead of their childhood.

According to Star, following a huge fight with Kris over the girls, Bruce not only stormed out of the family’s home in Calabasas, CA., but he’s now currently looking for somewhere new to live. Surprisingly, according to Star, cheering in his corner of the ring are stepchildren Kourtney, Khloe and Robert, who want to protect the youngest members of the family.

Meanwhile, Star reports that Kourtney is sick and tired of her mom meddling in her troubled relationship with her fiance and father of her two children,
Scott Disick, and the only one siding with their mom is middle daughter, Kim.

“The family really is in an all out war,” the insider told Star.

For the full story, pick up the new issue of Star magazine — on newsstands Thursday.

[From Radar Online]

I believe these stories, because Kris and Bruce aren’t big gossip fodder. It seems kind of useless to make up fake split stories about them, is what I’m saying. Here’s what gets me though. Bruce has been putting up with Kris for over 20 years. He knows how she is and he tolerates it. (She probably tolerates him too, but it’s easier to point at her as she puts herself out there.) Bruce also knows that his daughters are headed into the family business, that isn’t new. He was on board with it when Kendall did a bikini photoshoot at the age of just 14 and called it “hot.” I would ask what has changed, but I do have a guess. Kendall and Kylie are no longer in school. They’re being “home schooled” as of September and the first few months of that probably brought home to Kris, and his girls, that there’s no going back. Guess who is to blame.

Kendall Jenner, 17, covers Miss Vogue: surprisingly tasteful and not that bad?

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner covers the December issue of Miss Vogue, which is the third issue of the Vogue Australia offshoot. As I glanced through these photos, I noticed that Kendall looks remarkably “unKardashian,” and I don’t mean that in the sense that she’s tall and leggy (which is, aesthetically speaking, different than her sister and cousins) but that she looks remarkably tasteful. The styling here is quite good, and it’s almost easy to forget that Kendall is essentially a reality mini-star who is coasting on the neverending waves of Kim’s magic butt implants.

Still, Kendall looks good here, right? She’s now 17 years old, and this shoot is much more preferable than her 15-year-old bikini spread that came off as pretty skeevy or the 16-year-old swimsuit shoot that was largely photoshopped to look like Mila Kunis. While Kendall will probably never be able to pull off high fashion, she seems like she’d make a pretty decent runway model. Those legs go on for miles.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner

Mind you, I still think it was a mistake for Kendall to quit high school last year to focus on her budding career. At the very least, she should have gotten a tutor to get her through senior year. College isn’t always necessary these days (and often costs more than it’s worth), but graduating high school should be a must for all.

Kylie, Kendall Jenner (15, 16) stop attending high school to focus on their careers

I guess this news is inevitable, but it still makes me sad. First of all, Kylie and Kendall Jenner aren’t scrapping high school entirely, like Paris Hilton (Paris has her GED now at least), they’re going to be homeschooled. Some of our favorite reality show-based sites, like Starcasm and Reality Tea, are phrasing it like they’re dropping out, and they pretty much are dropping out of attending a school but it’s not like they’re not going to finish high school – that we know of. A lot of Hollywood kids get homeschooled, and it’s a viable alternative to school in any situation, I don’t want to knock homeschooling at all. Given their mother’s priorities, do you think that education is valued in that household? At least Kourtney and Rob have their college degrees. (Rob said he was going to law school this year, but he lied, apparently.) So maybe it’s not that bad. Khloe was homeschooled too.

Here’s the story from Starcasm. They also point us to an interview these two gave last year in which the girls said that they loved going to school and that it grounded them somewhat. So much for that. Kylie is 15 and Kendall is 16.

The two youngest Kardashians Jenners, have stopped attending high school so they can have more time to develop their brands. They will still be home schooled, so don’t worry about them not learning trigonometry.

Kylie (15) and Kendall (16) Jenner won’t be attending Sierra Canyon High School this year so they can do fab magazine spreads and Kendall can pursue acting with a role on Hawaii 5-0. Not only that, but the two girls are getting bigger and bigger storylines on their family’s “reality” show.

Last year the girls talked to Celebuzz about how much they liked going to school because it helped separate them from their celeb lives, but it looks like they’ve now changed their feelings.

Last year:
Kylie: If we didn’t go to school it would be hard, but school brings us back.
Kendall: And we love going to school! We really do. We love being able to have that aspect still in our lives. It’s like being Hannah Montana and living two lives! We love it, and we love being able to have our friends. It is a little weird sometimes, especially when they come up to us, like our friends at school don’t expect us to be like that.

The teenage girls’ issues with school was the subject of a recent KUWTK episode when Kylie admitted that school felt overwhelming and gave her panic attacks. They talked with their parents about letting them quit school and learn at home at their own pace, and now it looks like that’s exactly what’s happening. Kendall even tweeted about being homeschooled this July, but has since deleted the tweet.

[From Starcasm]

I guess it makes sense if Kylie gets panic attacks from school, and it seems like the right thing to do in her case. I don’t know why I care so much about these two. Maybe because they seem like they’re not lost causes yet, like they might choose a life for themselves that doesn’t involve the family business of packaging and selling every detail of their personal lives. They’re working as models, starring on a reality show and making bank from a very young age, so it’s not like this is a difficult choice for them.

Kendall Jenner, 16, is in a bikini & photoshopped to look like Mila Kunis

The first time we saw Kendall Jenner, the second youngest Jenner/Kardashian, in a bikini photoshoot at the age of 14, I wanted to grab a towel and cover her up. She was posed way too provocatively for her age, in my opinion, and the mom in me got all faux concerned. (Kendall’s dad, Bruce Jenner, didn’t care though. He called those photos “hot.”) Then Kendall became a spokesmodel for an Australian bikini company at the age of 15. Now that Kendall is 16 she’s continuing to pursue her modeling career. She has some bikini photos in a French fashion magazine called Flavor. In some of these shots she looks like herself, but in others she’s photoshopped into this bizarre alien-looking Mila Kunis type. Here’s more:

Kendall Jenner may be only sweet sixteen but she already knows how to work the camera.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians starlet looked significantly older than her years as she posed in a series of swimsuits for French fashion magazine, FLAVOR, and RadarOnline.com has the stunning shots.

The slender budding model donned several different designs for the shoot, which captured her striking beauty.

“I am soooo excited to show you guys these shots from my FLAVOR magazine shoot!!” Kendall wrote on her website.

“The pics were taken by the amazing Sinisha Nisevic at the famous Goldstein House in Beverly Hills!”

Kendall and her sister Kylie Jenner are eagerly following in the footsteps of their older siblings; Kim, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian – all carefully crafted by momager Kris Jenner.

[From Radar Online]

Kris must be loving this. She has two daughters coming of age to step right up when Kim and Ko. are old news. They older Kardashians are quickly approaching their media expiration date so the timing is right. Kendall’s younger sister Kylie is 14 now and like Kendall she appears on their family’s reality show and on the red carpet. This is the Kardashian family business, it’s what they do. At least Kendall is naturally lovely without the apparent help of surgery, Botox or Photoshop, even though someone at this French magazine had a very heavy hand with it. Look at this photo, she looks like a gazelle. Her torso is stretched beyond belief.

Kendall Jenner wants to be famous without the help of her family: too late?

Kendall Jenner might only be 16 years old, but she’s already coveting the spotlight just as much as her older half-sisters on the Kardashian side of the family. Just last week, Kendall even pulled her own Twitter stunt by pretending to go blonde but then pulled a “Fooled You”-styled retraction with her brunette hair in full swing again. Of course, I’ll try not to give her a hard time because she’s so young, but then again, she’s sort of put herself out there by styling herself as a a legit bikini model at age 15. Anyway, Kendall (who has previously expressed some degree of enthusiasm towards the concept of education) has talked to People about how she’s probably going to ditch the idea of college if she makes it huge as a model. Eh…. why not? If Kendall does succeed as a model, then she’ll be miles ahead of Kim in the class department:

Her sisters might be the queens of reality TV, but Kendall Jenner is looking to carve her own path in life — through modeling.

“I’m not really thinking about college right now,” Jenner, 16, told PEOPLE Monday while trying on dresses at Rent the Runway’s Pop-up Shop at West Hollywood’s Andaz Hotel. “If my career, like, blows up and gets really big, [modeling] is what I would do.”

Though we’ve seen Kim Kardashian’s younger sis struggle with her nerves while walking the runway on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Jenner says those initial jitters are all in the past.

“I want to [walk the runway] again and again,” she said. “It was so much fun, like the adrenaline and everything was really fun.”

The budding fashionista, who calls her own style “edgy [and] girly, but colorful,” shared some of her own style tips and influences.

“I like to add color… and I think that heels make the outfit look 10 times better,” said Jenner, who often “raids” sister Kourtney’s closet. “I love Herv&eacure; L&eactute;ger dresses just because I love bandage dresses … [and] I love jumpers.”

As for showing skin both on and off the runway, the teen believes less is more.

“I think if you look cute but like, classy, even though you are showing skin, I think that’s fine,” she said. “I wouldn’t like, go crazy. I am not that kind of a person.”

[From People]

Yes, I know Kendall’s young, and she said “like” five times in the space of these interview excerpts, but it’s a difficult speech pattern to ditch once started. I just hope that Kendall does keep college as an open possibility because, if her notoriety is entirely intertwined with that of her sisters, then her modeling prospects may very well go down with the sinking ship. Certainly, the days of Kardashian Rule shall not last forever, so Kendall had better get out there and model like crazy while she still can. And get to studying for the SATs too.

Kylie & Kendall Jenner got adorable chocolate lab puppies for Christmas

Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner girls, got very special Christmas presents this year – two chocolate lab puppies! They were tweeting an endless stream of photos, which I have included at the end of the post. The puppies are leggy adolescents, they’re not little baby dogs, and I’m guessing that they came from a lab breeder. Kendall and Kylie decided to break with their family tradition and NOT name the puppies with “K” names. Instead, they named these poor dogs “Louis” and “Vuitton”. UUUUGH. The only thing keeping me from already declaring these beautiful dogs as victims of animal cruelty is the thought that they’ll probably become Bruce’s dogs very quickly, once Kendall and Kylie get bored with them. Why didn’t they just give the puppies to Bruce straight away?

In other Kardashian/Jenner news, Kylie and Kendall are going to “co-design” a line of jewelry for Pascal Mouawad, that shady-as-hell jeweler who used to be tight with Lindsay Lohan. Mouawad also runs Kim Kardashian’s line (which was largely jacked from other designers) and Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 brand. Thankfully, it’s not going to be all diamonds and jewels sold to rich 13-year-olds. The brand is aimed at teens and tweens, but the prices will be reasonable ($20-80), so no 13-year-old girls dripping in diamonds.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner (Kardashian): school for us is like ‘living two lives’

wenn3611447
Kendall and Kylie Jenner are Kris Jenner’s youngest at 16 and 14. (This interview incorrectly lists their ages as 16 and 15. Kylie was born in 1997 so that’s not correct.) The two youngest Jenners/Kardashians have been showing up on red carpets for events and premieres looking very much like their older sisters, down to the heavy makeup, long hair extensions, high heels and short skirts. Kendall, who works as a model, just got a $90,000 Range Rover for her 16th birthday.

In a new interview with Celebuzz, Kendall and Kylie talk about their media careers and how they enjoy going to school still because it keeps them grounded. It would be a nice sentiment if they didn’t make school seem like this foreign land that they enjoy visiting occasionally. Out of all of Kris Jenner’s children, only Rob Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian have gone to college. Both of them graduated with bachelors degrees.

Here’s part of their new interview. Celebuzz talked to the sisters at the Style Awards, where they picked up an award for “Stylish Sisters.” I’m honestly wondering if they waived an appearance fee for that.

Have you been driving your new Range Rover all day?
Kendall: Yes! I did drive it a little bit with my dad today. It’s such a nice car, I can’t get over it. I still don’t even feel like it’s my car though! Like, I get in it and I feel like it’s my mom’s friend’s car.
Kylie: I don’t even feel like it’s her car!
Kendall: Today, [Kylie] is like where is my computer? I was like, I think it’s in my car — wait my car? That doesn’t even sound right.

Did you know you were getting a car?
Kendall: No, it was a total surprise!
Kylie: I was in on it! I knew for a while.

Did you just drop some hints to your parents? Or steer them in the direction of a Range Rover?
Kendall: I knew I wanted a Range Rover, but I seriously did not think I would get one! I had no idea that was going to happen. I went and looked at different cars as well, my dad took me to a bunch of places. I just never expected that, I thought there is no way that is going to happen. Then it did! I was so excited, I cried!

You girls are very grounded for being so famous. Is it hard to balance this red carpet life with being just normal 16 and 15 [sic] year old girls?
Kylie: We go to school, so that helps a lot.
Kendall: School definitely helps, it really does.
Kylie: At all
Kendall: They just think of us as normal kids because we’ve known them since kindergarten.
Kylie: They don’t know this side of everything.

So what is next for you girls outside of school? Will we see you model together again anytime soon? Or are you going to keep going solo Kendall?
Kendall: I’ve been solo, so I’m staying solo. We’ve done some fun shoots together, but it’s never going to be a set thing [modeling together].

[From Celebuzz]

As for school they “love being able to have that aspect still in our lives.” I guess Kendall, at 16, sees other models who have dropped out or are homeschooled, and it sounds like she realizes her time at school is limited and just about up. I hope their mom honors their love of school and encourages them to continue with their educations, but you know Kris Jenner. If there’s money and headlines to be made that will take precedence. Plus now that the shelf life for Kim et al. is just about up, Kris is going to pull out these two as her trump card.

Here are Kylie and Kendall at the premiere of Breaking Dawn, Part 1 last night. We’ll be covering the other premiere photos shortly. I was going to say that you can see 14 year-old Kendall’s bra, but that’s just a bizarre bra-like detail of her shirt.
