Michelle Rodriguez working on clothing line

michellerodriguezseethroughheader.jpg
Former “Lost” star, and unapologetic drinker & driver Michelle Rodriguez is jumping on the bandwagon and starting her own clothing line. I didn’t know you could make a whole line from denim jackets, tank tops, and combat boots, but apparently I’m wrong. Rodriguez says she will travel to at least twelve countries including Brazil and China to study cultures, history, and lifestyles, and will then start her own company to make the clothes she designs.

The company that I want to start should be ethnic,’ Rodriguez said in Spanish. ‘I think there is a (growing) awareness and people are opening their eyes about the world and the environment.’

Rodriguez said she hopes her travels will also help her come to know the potential market for her clothing line, to be named Ishkadada.”

[From Newsday]

Rodriguez said she also plans to continue her acting career. She stars in the upcoming movie “Battle in Seattle” with Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, and Ray Liotta about the WTO riots in Seattle in 1999. This isn’t Michelle’s first foray into fashion design. During fashion week in New York this past year, the actress sported her customized court-imposed alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet (worn after her convicted for her second DUI). “Asserting ‘this level of control just isn’t necessary,’ Rodriguez decided to fight back—with an ironic fashion statement. ’I felt it was necessary to express my truth. Hence the Orwell 1984 reference in white out on the ‘Vigil Net Government Dog Tag.’ What show better than Marc Jacobs,’ she said.

I’d be all behind this if there’s any truth to it. If she’s actually traveling around, doing research and coming up with designs, that’d be awesome. If someone else is sitting there doing all the work and she’s just putting her name on it (as seems to be the case with most other celebrity “designers”) then I think we already have enough of those, thank you. Either way, I blame J-Lo for this trend. Actually I blame J-Lo for a lot of things, because she’s the one who really took to the notion that celebrities should do a little bit of everything. How about you all just do one thing well, instead of ten things mediocre? Be a really great actor, singer, dancer, or designer. There’s nothing admirable about doing them all poorly.

If you were wondering, here’s a listof all the celebrities that have clothing lines (some are in development).

Jessica Alba, Scartlett Johanssen, Paula Abdul, Kylie Minogue, JLo, Pamela Anderson, Queen Latifah, Elizabeth Hurley, Amanda Bynes, Damon Dash, Milla Jovovich, Nelly, Jessica Simpson, Snoop Dogg, Reba McIntyre, Christy Turlington, Elle Macpherson, Jaclyn Smith, Hilary Duff, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kelly Osbourne, Mandy Moore, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker, P. Diddy, Madonna, Eminem, Kate Moss, Jay Z and Lance Armstrong, 50 Cent, Will.i.am, Justin Timberlake, Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Boy George, Shaquille O’Neil, Lenny Kravitz, Bono, Ryan Seacrest, and Nicky Hilton. And I’m sure I missed a few. I’m embarrassed to admit that I own a J Lo satiny blazer that fits oddly. I never wear it because my sister mocked me mercilessly when I bought it. I wonder how many people actually buy much from these lines? And the question still remains over how involved celebrities are in the design process, or if they’re just a name. If nothing else, Michelle Rodriguez will be in good company.

Michelle Rodriguez gets off easy

Michelle Rodriguez was released from jail after serving a mere 4 hours of a 60 day sentence for violating parole. We initially thought she was arrogant and foolish for taking jail time instead of community service for an earlier DUI violation. She only served 65 hours of a 5 day sentence for that conviction, and praised the merits of jail, saying she sang show tunes, wrote poetry, and got along with the other inmates. The prospect of so much jail time seemed trying for the “Lost” actress, who was said to be “solemn-looking” while leaving court after sentencing. She got off with even less time served now, though, making it seem like she’s working the system:

TMZ has learned Michelle Rodriguez’s 60-day DUI jail sentence turned into four hours and 27 minutes behind bars — a byproduct of overcrowding and budget problems in LA’s jails.

The ‘Lost’ star checked herself into jail last Thursday to begin a 60-day sentence for DUI-related probation violations. At the time, the star said she would serve her time, then flee the country for France.

But a spokesman for the LA city attorney’s office said Rodriguez was released after just less than four and a half hours as part of a book and release program typical for non-violent offenders with sentences of less than 90 days. Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the LA County Sheriff’s Department, said the early release program was implemented in 2002 “as a last resort” to meet budget cuts that reached $180 million.

Surely someone pulled some strings for Rodriguez, or maybe this is standard procedure as suggested.

Last week Rodriguez told photographers that she was moving to France, because “people don’t bother you there,” but she was out in LA at the “Ultimate Fighting Championship” boxing match on Saturday, as seen in the header image, above. She seems to be enjoying herself, while her friends look like they’d rather be anywhere else.

Rodriguez still has 30 days of alcohol rehab to serve along with years of probation. Maybe that will help keep her sober since she hasn’t faced stiff consequences yet for multiple DUI violations.

Michelle Rodriguez Interview and Total Request Live Appearance

Michelle Rodriguez appeared on MTV’s Total Request Live and Good Morning America yesterday. Her character was killed off this week’s episode of Lost, but she has played it off and insists it’s not due to her legal trouble:

The GIRL FIGHT star’s finale aired in America on Wednesday night (03MAY06) just days after her release from a Hawaii prison, where she served time for drink driving.

But she insists her legal problems had nothing to do with her departure from the show – she had always planned to quit the series before she became a regular member of the cast.

And now she’s keen to get on with her post-Lost life.

She says, “I planned it. When I signed on I kind of wanted (an) exit. I’m a gypsy, man. I need to be doing different things every year.

“I stays (sic) in one place too long, I get in trouble…”

Here’s a Good Morning America interview with Michelle and a quick recap of her death and love scene on Lost. She said that her death was planned from the beginning, but that she didn’t tell the other castmembers. She also said that her arrest taught her that it’s time to grow up.

Here are pictures of Michelle on Total Request Live [via] and some candids of her in Hollywood after being released from jail. [via] She must use the same cosmetic dentist as Hillary Duff.

Why Michelle Rodriguez really wanted to go to women’s prison

Lost star Michelle Rodriguez, 27, picked five days in prison, with credit for time served, instead of performing the equivalent of six weeks of weekday community service for her second DUI offense. It seemed like she was being arrogant and just wanted to get it over with.

She may have had another motivation for opting for close quarters with other women. News of the World has an unsurprising but titillating account of Michelle’s hot romps at lesbian clubs in NY and Miami:

Sexy Michelle found just what she was looking for at a New York club’s gay night, rubbing her boobs against a stunning babe during some very dirty dancing.

And on a visit to Miami’s Skybar the star—who was jailed for five days this week after admitting drink-driving—stripped off to go skinny dipping with a naked girl.

One onlooker at New York’s Duvet club said: “She set the place on fire and nobody could take their eyes off her, she was so sexy.”

Dressed in skin-tight striped trousers and a white vest, Michelle romped with her new pal on one of the club’s king-size beds. The onlooker said: “She was certainly not a shy girl as she pushed her breasts against the other girl’s boobs and moaned in her ear.

“It was the sexiest thing anyone had ever seen. Michelle was totally hot that night and she knew it. She seemed to be going from woman to woman, nuzzling her face in their breasts. She couldn’t keep her hands to herself. She looked like she was in heaven.”

She’s an unapologetic woman, and probably won’t care that this news gets out. News of the World quotes her as saying “I’m glad [men] stay away because they consider me intimidating or gay or whatever. It weeds out all the jerks.”

Warning Lost spoiler ahead

Michelle and Cynthia Watros, both stars on Lost, were arrested December 1, 2005 for DUI in Hawaii where the series was filming. Their characters may get killed off at the end of this season:

Now The ENQUIRER can exclusively reveal that ex-cop Ana Lucia (Rodriguez) and therapist Libby (Watros) will wind up goners on the series. A graveside scene in which the pair is laid to rest, with the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 gathered around to pay their respects, has already been filmed.

“It’s a done deal — Michelle and Cynthia’s characters will die by the season’s end,” a set insider admitted.

You can’t mess around if you’re on Lost. Anyone can die at any time on that series.

Rodriguez may get even more jail time. She faces sentencing in a separate DUI case in LA on May 5th.

Sorry that these pictures of Michelle getting all sexy with other women are low res. Maybe some better versions will come out soon.
