Tom Cruise just appeared on the live 25th anniversay special of the German show Wetten Das tonight. He left around 9:00 PM our time, which is 2:00 PM EST. My husband and I were out to dinner and only caught the second half of the program.

When he was about to leave, Cruise mentioned Holmes specifically and said that she gave him permission to attend:

Wetten Das, German for “Wanna Bet?” airs about once a month and is easily the most popular show in Germany. It features celebrity guests, live performances by musicians, and hysterical and creative bets. Today two girls had to identify the lip prints of members of their class. In an earlier episode, a man identified seed types by the sound the seed packets made when shaken. Celebrities take a side in the bet and have to perform silly antics if they’re wrong.

Cruise lost the bet and was supposed to have a motorcycle race as his part of the bargain. Wearing a tight black sweater and jeans, he swaggered over to a white motorcycle, which he was initially unable to start, and rode around the stage. The host, Thomas Gottschalks, came out on a tiny tricycle to “race” Tom.

After the non-race, Tom gave his apologies and left. This is not unusual on Wetten Das - the big celebrities often leave before the end.

The 25th Anniversay special is a huge event, and although Tom should have stayed home with Katie, it’s easy to see why he chose to attend.

The Wetten Das website says (in German) that Tom arrived at 7:45 (the show starts at 8:15) with seven S-class Mercedes limousines. He didn’t even see the stage before he came on.

Update: there is a video interview in English with Cruise accessible from the ZDF network website. Cruise says about the same thing as when he had to leave Wetten Das early - that Katie is about to have the baby “any day now” and gave him permission to go.

Star Jones and her surgically improved body attended the Daytime Emmy Nominations Dinner in LA tonight. Star looked foolish in a white tent of a dress that showed off her higher cleavage but covered her fat ass in layers of fabric.

Star seems to be recovering from the health scare she suffered after she lost too much blood and required a transfusion during a breast lift and tummy tuck operation two weeks ago. Star claims that she was not in danger and that the risk to her health was exaggerated, but the NY Daily News unearthed a 911 call from her surgeon’s office that suggests her life was at risk.

So, we don’t know why it’s news that Anderson visited a MAC makeup store in Halifax, Nova Scotia today, but it has something to do with the fact that she’s hosting Canada’s Juno awards this Sunday. Anderson is a native Canadian and the Junos are Canada’s version of the Grammys.

Anderson is said to be dating a Formula 1 racer, Eddie Irvine:

Anderson was photographed two weeks ago getting all kissy-face with real estate mogul, Laurence Hallier. He looked annoyed with her in the pictures of them together. Guess he stuck around long enough to convince her to buy a pricey Vegas condo and split.

Trent on Pink is the New Blog is right - the writing is terrible on Will and Grace. Britney also cannot act for shit, and her southern accent is terrible. Thank goodness they’re killing this series finally.

The Kids’ Choice Awards looked like a lot of fun last night. Will Smith and Lindsay Lohan won for favorite actor and actress, Pink, Chris Brown and Bow Wow performed, Justin Timberlake won a burp-off, and Robin Williams got slimed. Over 25 million votes were recorded. Winners included:

Anderson held a press conference to promote her appearance as host on Sunday’s Canadian Juno awards. She also spoke out against Canada’s annual seal hunt when asked about a letter she sent Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper asking for a meeting about the hunt. Paul McCartne and Bridget Bardot are among the other celebrities protesting the cruel practice of bludgeoning baby seals to death for their pelts.

Anderson has a petition with over 50,000 signatures against the hunt, and thinks it reflects poorly on her birth country.

Anderson will host the Junos, Canada’s version of the Grammys, tonight. Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, and Nickelback are among the performers.

As we mentioned yesterday, we caught Tom Cruise’s appearance on the German show Wetten Das last night. There’s now a video up of Cruise losing the bet and riding a motorcycle on stage on the show. (Note: Cruise is wearing an earpiece which gives him an English translation of the host. The video is in German, but it’s easy to figure out what’s going on.)

The first four pictures are from the Wetten Das website, and the rest are our exclusive screencaps of the show (Ok, so I took pictures of the TV. I have a laptop that plays TV, but the thing is new and is not working yet), which reaired this morning. The kiss marks on the bottom of the screen in one of the pictures show the progress of the bet, in which two girls had to identify lip prints from their classmembers. Tom said that the girls wouldn’t be able to do it, and lost the bet since they were 4 for 4.

So I’m a bad liar and didn’t run any April Fools day jokes, but Mike at D-Listed was brilliant yesterday. I totally believed that there was going to be 9 to 5 reunion and that Jada Pinket Smith’s lesbian lover gave an interview. I even read all the same celebrity news sources and thought “My God, how did I miss these awesome stories?”

By the time I posted yesterday’s links, though, I had figured it out and needed to try to fool other people.

Trent at Pink is the New Blog probably didn’t fool many people by announcing he was converting to Scientology, but it was still funny. We probably would have believed Kaballah, though.

There are a few stories on Oh No they Didn’t that look bogus. One involves a bad anonymous source that claims J-Lo is a cokehead. Come on, wouldn’t she be skinnier if that’s true?

Another states that Isaac Hayes said that Matt and Trey Parker made up the Scientology quitting controversy to get free publicity for South Park. The source link admits it’s an April Fool’s joke.

There’s a picture of Lindsay Lohan’s ass (NSFW) that may be Photoshopped but is possibly real and another article states that she’s going to shill for Proactiv.

P.Diddy, meanwhile is said to be suing Proactiv for failing to get rid of his acne. Our friends at Crunk and Disorderly picked up that story then admitted they were Punk’d.

We’re trying to put together some news stories for today, but as you can see there’s a lot of junk out there.
